    Franciacorta

My husband and I went here for date night at recommendation of a friend. Theseating area is small (make a reservation even on a weeknight) and I was immediately impressed by the decor. We ordered charcuterie to split (added bread) and both ordered the Sicilian octopus for mains. We requested wine pairing advice from the manager and he suggested 3 bottles at varying price points around our budget and was very knowledgeable. We chose a bottle of Franciacorta which was special and a perfect pairing! We enjoyed every bite and can't wait to return. The service was the high point of my experience.

The service, wine knowledge, and atmosphere were terrific. We ordered the seafood brunch option, which wasn't that impressive. It was just smoked salmon on toasted sliced bread, a tiny quiche and a waffle with berries, which was good though. The wine flight was terrific. The charcuterie board was definitely delicious. The waiter picked our cheese and meat options. He made great choices! I find it strange that bread nor crackers are included, so you'll have to order that separately at an additional charge. Overall, I would recommend Gvino. The 3 stars because the place had an absurdly strong artificial cedar smell, which I believe was a diffuser, and it was just overpowering! Not exactly a smell appropriate for a restaurant. Maybe best for a spa? I couldn't get past the scent; it was just too much!

Super cute place for great wine and small plates. We sat at the bar and Marias was super attentive and knowledgeable. I had the burrata which was homemade and absolutely amazing. A great addition to downtown Leesburg TJ grab a drink with friends or do a wine tasting etc.

Amazing cocktail selection for a wine bar. Justin is a dope mixologist, go see him ASAP. Food is Italian and amazing.

Giacomo was our server and provided us amazing service. The owner as well with providing us with his expertise of wine choices. We ordered a couple apps and the porterhouse steak. The food was exceptionally good, and we will definitely be returning again. Also, the wine was absolutely amazing!!!

It's truly one of our favorites and never disappoints. The food was absolutely incredible (as expected). We love this place so much and will definitely keep coming back every chance we get!

If a place executes its vision at a high level and exceeds expectations for its lane, that is a 5 star experience to me. And this meal absolutely did that. We relocated to Northern Virginia a couple of years ago, so we have been exploring the dining scene here with fresh eyes. Since moving, we have visited The Wine Kitchen several times, and each visit has been consistently impressive. They are truly a gem in Leesburg. We went with the pasta tasting menu and it was an outstanding, technique driven progression that really showcased the kitchen's command of fresh pasta and sauce work. The pasta itself was the foundation of the experience, clearly house made, with impeccable texture across every course. Each shape was cooked to a true al dente, with that ideal balance of tenderness and bite that only comes from properly handled fresh dough. Nothing felt heavy or muddled, which is no small feat in a multi course pasta progression. The mushroom tortellini in brodo was beautifully restrained. The broth had deep umami from the mushroom parmesan base, yet remained clean and structured, allowing the delicate tortellini filling and chestnut mushrooms to shine. The truffled Alfredo could have easily gone overboard, but the richness was controlled, silky, properly emulsified, and well seasoned, with the truffle supporting rather than overwhelming the dish. The lobster ravioli was another technically strong plate. The pasta was thin and tender, the filling sweet and delicate, and the crab fat sauce added depth while the ginger Calabrian soffritto brought a subtle lift of heat and brightness that kept the dish from feeling too rich. The short rib rotolo delivered deep, slow cooked savoriness, balanced nicely by the ricotta and the earthy luxury of the truffle fonduta. What really made the dish stand out for me were the crispy edges on the pasta, which added a beautiful textural contrast to the tender filling. For dessert, we enjoyed the tasting menu dessert and also added the cornflake French toast. The French toast completely wowed us. Texturally, it was outstanding, crisp exterior, custardy interior, and that nostalgic cornflake crunch elevated into something refined. It had richness, sweetness, and contrast in all the right ways, and ended up being my favorite of the two desserts. Overall, this is how you do a pasta focused tasting menu with finesse, strong technique, thoughtful balance, and flavors that feel indulgent without becoming heavy. In its category, this was a 5 star experience for me, and I would absolutely come back.

We saw pictures of the Escelon and it looked like the perfect ambiance for us. We were mistaken and we should NOT have come here. The five us chose to do the $50 restaurant week course with the added $25 wine pairings. When we saw that the line up came with a sweet wine, we politely asked the server if there was any way to switch that specific pour for another wine. She immediately said it was "not possible". The wine sat there untouched. Mind you, we had purchased a full bottle for the table along with the added wine pairings. It was a simple modification for 3 OUNCE pours. Ridiculous. The pours were also inconsistent. The first two courses and wine pairings were exceptional and delicious. As was our appetizer and bottle of wine. When it came to the last course, the dessert. It really left a bad taste in our mouths. The crème brûlée looked like scrambled eggs. It was runny and lumpy. It looked more like cottage cheese than a custard. Like the sweet wine, we all left it untouched. We explained our grievances to the server and she said that she would not tell the chef because he was "sensitive" and she was too afraid of him. As a former server myself, I couldn't help but be upset. When it comes to customer service, your job is to have your guests leave happy and wanting to come back. That was absolutely not the case for us. The fact that we spent $600 for such a horrible experience is laughable. Don't waste your money!

It was our first time and we weren't sure how things worked so let me help you out if you are reading this. A small plate is indeed a small plate of whatever you order. You can share to you cannot. But if you go the small plate route , you'll want to order between 3 and 4 items per person. The large plates are meals. The atmosphere was as expected. This would make a good date night. You could dress up or you could dress down. Either way, you'll be right at home. Our waitress Gabby did a great job and she was super helpful. My wife is allergic to rice so Gabby made sure to check with the chef about cross contamination and what was good for her on the menu and what not. Super appreciative of that. My wife tried two different sans spirits drinks. The espresso tonic. I tried it also. Big no! It has tonic espresso and grapefruit juice. Those did not vibe. We sent it back. She then tried the Purple Rain and loved it. All in all, it's a good spot and I'm glad we tried it. I think next time we will go exclusively with the large plates. The small plate route was kind of expensive for what we got and we didn't get a lot of food. We both actually left hungry. We are not drinkers but we accompanied two of our friends who are and they enjoyed the wine selection.

Seeing that their recent reviews were good, we decided to give them a try. We were here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. for an early dinner. The place had a few occupied tables, including a large party. Our server, Steven, was prompt in getting to us and asked what we wanted to drink. I chose sweet iced tea while my husband had a Heineken 00. We decided to start our meal by sharing a caprese. It consists of: "Fresh mozzarella, vine-ripened tomatoes, olive oil, basil, balsamic reduction." There were 5 slices of tomato, each topped with a generous slice of mozzarella. We enjoyed this starter. The tomatoes were ripe, and the balsamic reduction added a nice flavor. For dinner, I ordered "lobster and crab ravioli, which consists of: "Brandy cream sauce, jumbo lump blue crab". This dish had 4 raviolis. From their appearance, one could tell they were handmade. The brandy cream sauce was well-balanced. I was glad to see that the brandy didn't take over the sauce, but rather, it complemented it quite well. I could taste the lobster and crab. The one thing I didn't like was the cost. For that reason, when we return for a meal, I would choose a different entree. Before heading here, I looked at the menu and told my husband that I thought he would like "Sausage and peppers rustica". This dish consists of: "Italian sausage, roasted peppers, red onions, cavatappi, spicy marinara, mozzarella". He looked at the description and said that's what he would order. The dish arrived hot and remained hot through the meal. It was quite filling and tasty. We actually had some room for dessert, so we agreed to share a serving of Tiramisu. It consists of:"Award-winning layered creamy rum-flavored mascarpone cheese, espresso-soaked lady fingers, espresso sauce". This dessert was quite tasty. The espresso added a nice flavor, and the whipped cream on top was a nice touch. Service from start to finish was excellent. The young woman at the host stand was friendly. We liked that she wiped down the menus before giving them to us. Steven, our server, was prompt, friendly, and efficient. He checked with us during the meal but wasn't overbearing.
