We looked at pictures of the menu on Yelp and thought the options looked good. Turns out that is an old menu from previous owners. The menu is limited. Either a beef or pork sandwich and about a dozen Asian dishes. We opted for the sandwiches in both beef and pork. We were pleasantly surprised. They were good sized sandwiches and had great flavor. Service was great. Price was likely okay for this area.

I've tried the Chinese pork burger 肉夹馍 and the box lunch 盒饭 and they are both excellent! I especially loved the box lunch, you get to sample a lot of different authentic Chinese food for only $12.99! I'm definitely goin back for more. The service is wonderful, the owners are very friendly! And the ambiance is very relaxing:) try them out!

This is a cute little café that doubles as a small convenience store. The café serves coffees, and sandwiches. They used to serve breakfast but has discontinued that for now. There is a small private parking lot in front of the café, but most of them are reserved for businesses in the strip mall that the café is co-located. They have coolers full of drinks, chips and random items such as bleach, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry shop, and paper cups. The place also looks like it is a pick-up spot for dry cleaning. Talk about your one-stop shopping. They have bar seating along the wall, in the front of the store and a few tables and chairs on the opposite side. The seating is very limited. There is music playing throughout the café. They had some Stevie Wonder playing while I was there. They have a wide selection of sandwiches. I was in an exotic mood, so I decided to go with the Thanksgiving Morning Sandwich. It is a one-person operation, so it took a little time for me to get my food. I would say about 15 minutes. The woman working there was extremely friendly though. I got a drink from the cooler and a bag of chips to go with my sandwich. The sandwich looked small at first glance, but was filling, fresh and delicious. It was packed with flavor. I really liked it. This little hole-in-the-wall café that you will find in a little duck-off, has some awesome food and top-notch service. I really enjoyed my meal here. I highly recommend checking this place out.

I have no doubt in my mind why Paramount Cafe has 245 reviews and 5 solid stars. Well, there's several reasons. 1. The owner is one of the most welcoming, caring, and sweet individuals you'll ever meet. 2. The food is fresh and made with love. 3. It's pretty darn convenient. Especially if you live in the Paramount Apartments that sit atop the Paramount cafe. Or even if you're passing by in Pentagon City. They have a few dedicated parking spaces out front for the store, and it was a quick easy delicious meal. From the very moment I walked through the door, the owner of the cafe was treating me like family. "Hey there, how are you doing? What can I do for you? Are you here to have a sandwich?" I have to assume that her sandwiches are what's really bringing in people from far and wide. Sure there's a drink fridge with a variety of different bottles and canned beverages. Sure there's a mish mosh of common household goods like aluminum foil, plastic wrap, canned goods etc. I'd be willing to bet that her biggest revenue stream is from these loaded hearty sandwiches. They're just about 12-15 on the menu. She also does gyro sandwiches too. And right behind the counter there is a little conveyor belt oven that she uses to whip up a pretty darn tasty sandwich. She's an honest business owner (completely fine with me), the competition from the Whole Foods that opened a year ago down the street has definitely taken a big bite out of her business. But if you trust me at all, and I know there's a few of you out there that do, the sandwich that I got at Paramount Cafe stands on a different level than the super giant down the street. It's truly made with love. Is the bacon cooked perfectly? No. Is the bread artisan? No. Is the turkey handcarved fresh right there? No. I can't exactly tell you why, but like I said, trust me; it does. I ended up getting the Roasted Turkey BLT. She first roasts the turkey meat and puts it on a very sizable piece of marble rye. Second she makes sure I want the default horseradish sauce as the base. I opt for mayo, but get horseradish on the side. She then hand cuts avocado, piles on lettuce tomato and bacon, and throws it in a panini press. The result is a SOLID sandwich that I'd be happy to serve in my home. She tells me I can pay later and not to worry, just enjoy my sandwich and relax. She then comes to check-in JUST at the perfect time to make sure that everything is too my liking. "Do I need any more horseradish sauce?" I tried it, its delicious, but "No, I'm good for now." It just goes to show that Customer Service can be everything. From start to finish I felt cared for, cared about, and taken care of. Just an absolutely pleasant experience. Food gets a 4 stars. Customer Service gets 10 stars. Overall: 5 stars.

Nearly hidden on the ground floor and Bank of America side of the Paramount Apartment building is a true gem of a mom and pop convenience store. (More of the latter than a Cafe - but it serves dutifully as both.) As you walk in through a narrow seating area near the front door, your senses likely will be stimulated by the appealing aroma of fresh Expresso being brewed or the wafting, toasty notes of a grilled panini sandwich. Operated by a family - not a corporation - this small den of delights, aka snacks, notions, drinks, and sundries, is a repository for all the little things you might have forgotten at the big grocery store (or on your vacation trip). From popcorn and chips to ice cream and candy bars, seltzer to soap, and single serve headache remedies to Ben and Jerry's ice cream, this small store seems to stock a little bit of everything. Freshly made delicious sandwiches, beer, wine, and soft drinks fill the bill for folks in the apartment complex above the store and those in the hotel right around the corner. The list of what they stock is figuratively endless. Love the service, friendliness, and congeniality of Mia and Dave.

Two words that set this place apart from most other places you'll find in the area: customer service. I stopped in and was a bit taken aback as it was nothing like I expected. It's located under an apartment building is like a little shop that happens to also be a cafe where you can buy coffees, teas, and small eats, like sandwiches, etc. They have alcohol, bottled beverages, random snacks, and lots of other random finds. I opted for lunch and got the veggie mozarella sandwich, per Kim's suggestion. I also got an iced tea. Kim was phenomenal from start to finish. She helped me decide which vegetarian option was the best. Within a few minutes, instead of handing me the sandwich at the counter, she walked the dish to my table and insisted on doing so. After I was finished, she then made sure that everything was nothing but delicious. I requested that she pour my leftover tea into my reusable water bottle I had to not waste it, and she had no issues with this. Customer service wins the five stars at this location. Food is about 4 stars. Interior could use some love, but the service is the star of this place.

Was really excited to check this place out since it had five stars for a quick lunch while at a conference at the Crystal City Marriott. It was definitely a neat shop, with lots of fun drinks and necessities. The woman behind the counter seemed nice. We ordered sandwiches. It was fine, but definitely nothing to write home about.

It's no wonder why this place has 5 stars & it's getting my approval too! The spot is small and hidden in the bottom of the Paramount Hotel. The shop boasts a small convenient section in the back (cups, plates, cereal, beer, wine, drinks, snacks) and up front is the cafe spot. They offer great breakfast, lunch and coffee options. The owner is the absolute sweetest lady around. She knows really how to take care of her customers. My bf and I stopped in for coffee and breakfast and she let us know the eggs were fresh and not frozen. You can watch them cook your food to order right in front of you. Very awesome little spot, will be sure to come back if I'm ever in the area again! read more

We were greeted with a kind hello and a great smile! This is a great hidden gem that are becoming extinct in this day and age. The personal attention to what we wanted and making us feel welcome was a pleasant surprise to experience in a fast paced city. I had the pastrami panini which tasted so good! The combination of the Swiss with the Cole slaw and sun-dried tomato bread was perfect for what I was wanting today. This is definitely a keeper and we will hopefully be back. Just keep your eyes peeled, because it literally is a "hidden gem" that you could drive or walk right past if you are paying attention. read more

I stepped off the Crystal City metro and pulled up yelp. I found this place - 4 1/2 stars. It was the wrong direction from the Hilton but it sounded like it may be worth the trip. It was. Great napoli sandwich and great service. Not far from the metro. Well worth the trip. read more

Wow! Love this owner operated mom & pop shop. Great sandwiches! My favorites are the Napoli and the Pastrami Panini. Super friendly staff and great customer service. I even found a really good IPA craft beer last time I was there. Highly recommend if you love a great sandwich and warm friendly service. read more

I had seen the sign by the corner, but decided to visit for lunch after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had the turkey BLT with avocado on the, and it was fantastic! Super fresh ingredients, friendly service, and convenient location to Pentagon City and Crystal City. Definitely give this gem a try if you're in the mood for a quick bite! I decided to check this place out after reading through all the great reviews on yelp. When I arrived there was a note on the door that said "will be back in 2 min", but it was worth the wait. I got the turkey bacon avocado panini and it was delicious, and will definitely come back again. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Convenience Convenience Convenience. Living in one of the nearby apt. buildings, this is a lifesaver at times. This little store reads my mind and then puts whatever is in my mind on their shelves or in their menu. Sandwiches are great. Staff is friendly. Everything is served hot. The Paramount Cafe specializes in great tasting, generously-sized, reasonably priced sandwiches and friendly service. It is the definition of a hidden gem: easy to miss from the street but worth a visit if you are hungry for a sandwich. My favorites are the Turkey Club (#5) and Focaccia Club (#6). read more

No, really, don't pass up the opportunity to obtain sustenance from this establishment. If you're in the market for a killer sandwich, made with CARE from quality ingredients, exactly the way you want it, along with a selection of just about any drink, any chips, etc, you needn't look elsewhere. It's also a mini-grocery as well, in case you're running low on other sundries! Don't be surprised if it becomes your new favorite sandwich place! ALSO, you might have trouble finding the place. You'll see the sign for "The Paramount Luxury Apartments", you'll see the Bank of America. You're in the right place. The door is just to the right of the overhang that says PARAMOUNT. TIP: Parking is TIGHT, walk or use other transportation if possible for maximum convenience and efficiency. read more

Best sandwiches in town! I had the gyro and my sister had the pastrami panini. Both sandwiches were delicious! The owner is a sweet lady who's been in the restaurant business for a very long time and had been running this cafe for some time now. It's a little market and a cafe. There's good collection of wine bottles for sale as well as other goodies! Great spot! read more

I used to live 13 stories above Paramount Café, in the apartment building complex that Paramount Café is part of. Paramount Café was my local convenience store (or rather, "Convenient Store" as the charming sign said) for much of that time. It was also where I would get breakfast or lunch sandwiches if I was at home and didn't have anything in the fridge. Paramount Café is really popular with two specific groups of people: (1) tourists staying at nearby hotels, and (2) construction workers working on any of the new high rises being built in the neighborhood. If you come in around lunch time, you will likely be standing in line behind many construction workers. I recommend calling ahead of time, so your food is ready to be picked up when you arrive. They also have a decent selection of sodas and potato chips, as well as basic necessities like tinfoil, soap, tooth brushes, etc. My complaints about this place are as follows: - the prices are rather high. I understand that it is a convenience store, and they charge higher prices because of the convenience, but a single sandwich plus a soda can easily run you over $10. - the hours could be more convenient. they used to open at 7 AM, now they open at 8 AM. If, like me, you need to leave for work around 8 AM, that means this place no longer is an option for breakfast. read more

With limited choices currently along the Eads street corridor this shop is a hidden gem. They have supplies, fresh coffee and great sandwiches. They are quick to point out this is not "fast food." It is much better and they really do go the extra mile (got a free bag of chips this time). I will definitely be back! read more

This place is awesome. Seriously good food. I had the pastrami sandwich and it was one of the best I've had, and I've had a lot. Very nice owner stayed open extra 20 minutes to make it for me as I arrived just before closing. Prices very fair. I dont live in DC area but if I did, I would go there frequently. read more

My sister and I came here a few weeks ago. This is probably the best service I have ever received. They were so friendly and gave us so many recommendations! Excellent sandwiches made with top notch ingredients and love. This convenience store/Cafe hybrid is owned by a very charming and charismatic woman who always remembers the faces of repeat customers. In an area filled with chain stores, paramount Cafe is a much welcomed touch of good old mom-and-pop charm. Any of the paninis are fantastic, although I personally recommend the pastrami! read more

Very hospitable crew, kind polite and accomodatıng. Behind the facade of this unpretentious hole in the wall cafe is a menu of monumental range of various tastes. This cafe is amazing, from its food to its items for sale to its staff! Their sandwiches are amazing, and they have a large selection of options to choose from. I have not tried their coffee yet, but as many others have said, I have heard nothing but good things. They also serve as a convenient mini-market for residents of The Paramount or anyone coming through the area. Whether it is for a quick meal or to grab some essentials, the Paramount Cafe is stocked to fill anyone's needs. The shining star though is the owners, who are incredibly friendly and nice. They take the time to make everyone feel welcome, and go above and beyond in their customer service. I have enjoyed getting to know them, and they make a great store that much more fantastic! One of the greatest sandwich cafes ever. One of the sandwiches I really enjoy is Club Focaccia. You can see that they use extremely high quality ingredients inside. In Club Focaccia, it has black forest ham, mesquite turkey, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and other various ingredients that you will love. The bread is also great quality! You can get all kinds of espresso drinks, but I highly recommend their chai latte, hands down the best I've ever had. They also have beer, wine, and convenience items.
