I wanted to go exploring the area and found my way here. It can be a bit of an uphill hike if you are coming in from the metro. My GPS led me to a parking garage, but luckily we were able to access it via the elevators to the upper level and out the door. It overlooks a cute courtyard and there is a to. of seating available indoors! It's all windows, so the natural lighting made a very relaxing atmosphere to eat in. It makes it feel like a hidden gem, especially since it wasn't super crowded or loud like it is at the places closer to the metro. Ordering at the counter was simple and it operates more like a to go place with other food coming out in takeout containers which is placed on a stand alone table. Service was quick and utensils are provided in the bag of food. I ended up ordering the Bulgogi Bi-Bim-Bap and it was pretty good. The menu is limited, but that makes decisions simple. I wouldn't mind coming back again. read more

I'm not sure why this place wasn't crowded- it's amazing! It says it's under new management and the staff were incredible! Smiles all around, made conversation and had a clear sense of pride in what they were serving. The food was fresh, hot and delicious! We got a variety of things on the menu and loved it all. They also sell popular Korean snacks and desserts in the market area of the restaurant. This restaurant is a bit hidden next to the Marriott. I don't think I would've stumbled upon it unless I was actively searching for the restaurant. That being said, I'm so glad I stopped by and it's very close to Rosslyn offices. I got the beef bulgogi which was absolutely delicious and a very good quantity for the price (~$15 with tax). Oh my goodness, you have to come here for breakfast. And you HAVE to get an omelet with a side of pancakes. They used to have a kimchi fried rice omelet, which was exceptional. Paired with fluffy, buttermilk pancakes, the combination of flavors - sweet, spicy, savory was incredible! I'm sad it's gone, BUT, I am now loving their spinach and mushroom (with cheddar instead of feta) omelet. Chock full of fresh spinach and fresh sliced mushrooms, it's super delicious. Seasoned just right and again the combo of sweet, salty, and savory is divine. You get a lot of bang for your buck, too. This dish - omelet and 2 pancakes - paired with a generously sized fresh-squeezed orange juice (must be at least 20 oz.) is just $11.99. Super good, fill-you-up and get you ready for your day, meal. Yumm! Oh, and for lunch, try their veggie bibimbap. Fantastic! Lots of fresh veggies, kimchi, fried egg and gochujang (fermented red chili sauce). Healthy and filling lunch. I didn't know the limit of what was to go on my bowl or that avocado wasn't included. The lady simply pointed to items and asked if I wanted this and that. I thought that's how it went. The owner schooled me when I got to the register and continued to upcharge me even though I said it was my first time and I didn't know what was what. Nope, nothing. LOVE the bibimbap - both bulgogi and veggie versions! The portions of veggies and meat are very generous and the egg is always perfect--so much so that this is my go-to lunch twice a week when in Rosslyn. I have been working in the area for 10 years so I have explored plenty of the other nearby offerings, and I am soooo glad Open Kitchen came to town. I also have enjoyed the salad bowls - very fresh ingredients and generous portions - the bento box options - love the green beans - and their carved turkey sandwich. All delicious. The soups are homemade and really hit the spot. I have not been able to try their breakfast options yet, but I hear it is also quite good. I love this place! I've been here a few times for the bibimbap and salad bowl. Everything tastes fresh and healthy. The portions are large and the prices are in line with other places in the neighborhood. Everyone is friendly. Plus, this is a family owned-and-operated establishment so it's always nice, in my view, to support a small local business when you can. The added bonus is that the space is really nice. It's a great place to hang out and take your laptop or some reading to occupy you while you eat. It's also a good place for lunch or coffee with a friend since there's plenty of space and it's not too loud. Or even a good place for a work meeting if you want to get out of the office. This place has hand prepared food. I had a crispy chicken sandwich which was clearly prepared from a chicken breast not a frozen puck. My wife had a bulgogi salad bowl with spicy Korean beef barbecue and fresh vegetables. Both were very tasty. Rosslyn offers way too many options for anyone to waste their hard earned money eating at open kitchen. If I could give negative 5 stars I would. Food is WAY to high compared to the plethora of other places around them. Please don't get me started on the quality of the food. I honestly probably wouldn't feed it to my dogs. The only and I mean only 2 pluses Open Kitchen has is it's smoothies and the fact that it is in my office building. I have tried several of their items and all except for the smoothie has disappointed me. Items to avoid at all cost: any sandwich, fries, and definitely the $12 salad. Oh one more plus is the gentleman behind the grill with the glasses has AWESOME customer service. Can't say the same for the lady who works the cash register on the right. I frequent Open Kitchen for breakfast and have stopped by there for lunch several times. The owners and staff are very friendly and work very hard to please the customers. The prices are in line with other areas in Rosslyn. The breakfast sandwiches are good - always remind them to toast the bread if you want it toasted well. I've had several of the soups, which they make the morning of. Huge fan of the clam chowder when it's available. I've also tried the salads, bibimbop and the Japanese curry, and have enjoyed all of them. I would recommend asking them to "double cook" the fries to make sure they are crispy. I enjoy giving my money to a small business who makes good food and are friendly folks. read more
