He walked us through the different types of foams, springs, and covers, and explained what actually matters (and what doesn't). He knew a lot about the recent changes in the mattress industry. You can try any of the online brands. If they don't have a model, they can get a twin for you to try out. There was also zero pressure or upselling, just thoughtful advice. We ended up buying their in-house brand, which feels comfortably soft but still supportive. When my husband moves, my side doesn't turn into a slope (great partner isolation!). We also spent much less than we expected and left feeling really good about supporting a local business.

I really appreciate family owned businesses, and try to frequent non-"box" stores whenever possible. I felt the customer service was genuine & superior to other stores, which matters when you are spending a lot of money on an item that will not only be part of your everyday life, but may essentially improve it! This is also important if you might need to return or exchange an item, which is a pain, of course, & something ppl sometimes don't think about w/an essential...
