Well color me happy! After working the AFPAC last year in The Gunther Hotel & seeing they would be opening I was giddy with excitement! Working this conference as the photographer it's my fun! So, this my reward this year. I arrived early, so it was very quiet in the bakery, but the ladies were ready with smiles, excellent attitudes, & to help out. First thing I did was warn them about the amount of people that were about to be coming in for the week. It's about to get real busy! They smiled, & said they're ready! What a positive attitude. Taking a gander at their coffee choices takes a moment. So many options. I wanted the Korean coffee, but they're out today. Good thing I'll be here all week, I'll try another day. Today, I chose a Carmel macchiato, & forgot to say sugar free. My bad. I'll be riding this sugar high for hours. And it's goooood. Then, I walked about the shop & took photos of all the amazing treats. Oh my goodness. This is when I wish I had the appetite I used to have. I want everything here. I decided on the absolutely amazing ham & cheese croissant. They warmed it up for me to absolute perfection. Biting into it, I felt like I just walked out of my bakeri back home. The ham is perfect l, its not that super thin ham that vanished when you go to eat it, and the cheese is perfectly melted inside, and the Asiago cheese on top is so yummy & adds the crunchy crispness to that perfect croissant. The croissant I'm a sucker for a good, well laminated croissant!!!! The crispness of the crust is absolute perfection. To hear the crust as you bite in, and then flake crumble is just heavenly. That fresh pillowly goodness of the croissant inside & the warmth of that bread is like a hug for your mouth. Yup! This is a perfect breakfast! If you're downtown & you wanna try out a wonderful bakery with wonderful people working there, do not pass up Paris Baguette they have it all. I had to walk up and ask for help myself, and instead of assisting me, she called over another employee who was already busy. This isn't a one-time thing either. First time visiting this place and it was a great experience. The first thing you see is the beautiful decor. The ambiance is very beautiful and welcoming. The selection of pastries is amazing. We tried the mochi donut which was amazing. It tasted fresh and had a flavor of a cross between funnel cake and a churro. We also tried the French apple turnover. It was flaky, buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. My favorite pastry was the croissant donut filled with cream. I have to say it was hands down the best donut I have ever had. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back to try different items. The coffee is excellent and fresh and I also recommend trying the sweet peach tea. It located under The Gunter Hotel, I luckily stayed at the Gunter hotel so it was very convenient. I picked up the quiche Lorraine along with a croissant filled with fresh strawberries and sweet cream. The quiche Lorraine was warm and savory with a flaky crust and a rich filling that felt satisfying without being heavy. The strawberry and cream croissant was light and buttery with fresh fruit and just the right amount of sweetness. It tasted fresh and well made. The space was clean and inviting and it made for an easy breakfast or snack stop while staying downtown. The service was excellent. Very friendly. This place has recently opened downtown and absolutely wanted to try it out. This is a korean/French inspired bakery shop that has alot of goodies (donuts, bread, cakes, cookies, etc). The place itself is very cute and love the decore. They do have a lot of seats inside and outside but depending on the time you get here, it gets really crowded. They have you grab a tray on the side and walk around to grab anything that you want. I like the idea of doing that but with the lines they had it was a bit hard to maneuver around. The staff were at least friendly and got me sorted out quickly. They had different types of mochi donuts I was really excited to try. I grabbed the peppermint, coconut, and matcha mochi donuts and loved them alot. They were soft, a bit chewy and decorated nicely. Each were great flavors too and wasn't overly powering with sweetness. My favorite where these little cream puff that they had in the fridge section. So soft, fluffy and light (absolutely would get these again). They had these cool sandwiches and stuff that they could heat up for you too which is pretty cool. Unfortunately mine wasnt really heated all the way and was too crowded to get her to do it again. I had this ham and cheese bread sandwich which was alright but brought it home and warmed it up myself and tasted better. Despite this I would definitely recommend coming back here at least for the sweets. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Came here looking for a tasty sweet treat, overall not too bad. They do have a lot of different options to choose from, so it may be a little until you decide on a specific thing. Staff were friendly but when I asked about some of the menu items they didn't seem that knowledgeable in their menu. Nice panaderia style bakery where you can grab a tray and just pick what pastries you want on a platter. We got their seasonal Nutella cold brew coffee, it was pretty bitter probably wouldn't get it again but all the pastries we got were good, kinda stale but that might be cuz we got there the last hour they were open. I will return to try different things! Also there's no parking so you have to find garage or lot parking nearby since it's located downtown. read more

Paris Baguette is finally in San Antonio!! They just had their grand opening on Tuesday! For those who don't know, Paris Baguette is a South Korean bakery chain inspired by French pastries. Think lighter textures, less sugar, and super fresh baked goods! The bakery is known for its wide variety of high-quality pastries, breads, cakes, and beverages. This is a really well known name, with numerous locations throughout the USA and the world, and we're so excited for them to open their first-ever SATX location! I love the innovative take on their menu! But the showstopper for me has always been the cakes! You grab pastries from the display cases as you please and then take it up to the cash register to order drinks, cakes, and check out! So for the most-part it's self-service! The place is also super neat and clean, with some space to sit and eat both indoor and outdoors. As we left the Majestic Theater we crossed the street and decided to pop in to Paris Baguette. SSSOOO MANY CHOICES!!! We opted for: mochi donut with sugar, strawberry mochi donut, Nutella croissant, mini lemon/raspberry croissant & vanilla macadamia nut cookie. What a treat as we all partook. We agreed the Nutella croissant & the interesting mochi donuts were also a hit! But the surprising clear winner was the mini lemon/raspberry croissant the perfect pastry profile & the croissant was perfectly soft with a nice outer crunch. Nice treat after watching a ballet. And I should also mention the establishment was nice & clean inside. So upset forgot to take photo's of all our treats!!!!! read more

This cafe was super cute and organized! They had multiple options to choose from, breakfast lunch or sweet snacks. I got the pizza which was delicious, the sauce tasted fresh and the croissant bread went well with it. The hashbrown bread was also good but had too much potatoes for me. My family and I stopped in for some dessert after visiting the Christmas market on Houston in the evening, we wanted some pastries and hot coffee/hot chocolate so we went in. It was busy but not as much as the morning rush, there wasn't much of a selection but that's our fault for going in late. The employees were all friendly and helpful. The establishment was very bright, clean and open. The hot chocolate and coffee were really good, some of the desserts seemed a bit soggy and like said before there wasn't much to choose from. Grab a tray, place a piece of wax paper on it and select pastries. There weren't any trays that we could see and the wax paper basket was empty. It really didn't matter. They appeared to be out of the 'good' stuff. And it was so crowded that there were no open seats. I guess you have to be there at 6am when they open to have a chance to select and sit. I was a bit confused by how to grab the pastries, I had no idea where the trays where maybe put a sign? The coffee is okay, it's Lavazza and they only offer oat milk and almond milk. Came for the grand opening and wow was it a great event! There was no street or free parking. However, parking was pretty cheap nearby on east Houston. It was $8 for 2 hours. I think there are more nearby but that was the closest for me. The vibes were great. They had a dj and an a great MC playing trivia game with the crowd. The staff were also super friendly and passed around samples of various cake and pastries. Special Shout out to Brittney! She was amazing. She took the time out to explains the menu and some of her favorites. She definitely made us feel welcome and at home. Now time for the most important part: the FOOD! The brewed coffee was ok. Nothing special. The pastries though!!! Everything i got was so good. The chedder cheese twist was my least favorite but still good. It was so flakey. I would love some more cheese but overall still good. The Hotdog crossiant was also tasty. Simple, buttery, and savory. The crab bread was good. The bite was crispy with lots of favors. The Coffee donut is a must try. Got coffee cream in top and a surprise filling in the middle. PLEASE get the tiramisu tart! Not your regular tiramisu but a nice surprising tart. 5 stars for the food, presentation and cleanliness. However, some opportunities for improvement would be the service, unless you are a portraying a true Parisian experience with the French customer service abroad, I found the rudeness disappointing. There was no need to cram my entire order in one bag once I mentioned it was to go and had to ask three times to heat or warm my pastries, even that-still got it wrong and only heated 2 out of the 4 items. The place was packed and seating was nonexistent. To add insult to injury, I couldn't even get a latte as they were out of all milks and alternatives. Small businesses, I can understand, but definitely not a chain or large place that mainly serves coffee and pastries. Most likely a spot to visit in the early hours to avoid the rush. The only saving grace is the food as my girlfriend said came close to Parisian pastries. Although crushed, my croissants and pastries were still very good. read more

There was at least 4 employees in the lobby and all of them acted like I didn't exist. they open at 6am and I showed up at 7am and most of the baked goods weren't even out yet. An absolutely delicious array of pastries at the Paris Baguette located within the beautiful Gunther Hotel. This is a serve yourself bakery, you take a tray and tongs and start choosing your pastries. Hot and cold drinks- lattes, coffee, treats are available. The way the bakery is set up just has your eyes darting everywhere and salivating. When you walk in your eye go immediately to a case of pastries at least 10 feet long with the most beautiful pastries you've seen. You can find breakfast croissants in one area. shimmering glazed fruit topped pastries, mochi donuts , chocolate drizzled croissants . I tried a King Cream donut which had plenty of Bavarian cream inside, outside lightly dusted with confectioners sugar. I loved this bakery! There is outdoor seating available or you can sit in the hotel. The only drawback to returning for another delicious pastry is downtown parking which is $20 and up.But if the future carries me to downtown, Paris baguette is well worth returning to. read more

I was visiting San Antonio and this was walking distance from the hotel so I came to grab a sandwich for lunch. When you walk in, the fresh bread and pastry smell fills the air. I was a little lost when I first walked in as I had not been there before and I didn't know if I was supposed to go up to the front to order but then I saw others grabbing a tray and tongs, so I followed suit to be able to get my items. I thought I was coming for a sandwich and I ended leaving with so much more. Mini croissants, michi donuts, cream cheese pastries, chocolate croissant, and almond croissant. I wanted to eat everything, but I figured I can go back again to get other things that I haven't tried. Once you get your items, you go to the counter and they will warm the items for you and box them up and off you go! Once you know what to do, the process is easy' the service at the counter was great: they were all very friendly and kept up light conversation through the check out process. I am going to find one near me in Atlanta and go try more pastries and breads. read more

The pastries run from $3 to $6 a piece. The ones we chose were tasty, but may be a little over priced. Once we picked out our pastries, we had to stand in line for close to twenty minutes. The issue was that they had only two people ringing people up, bagging their selections and warming things up. This caused such a line and there many people who just gave up and left instead of waiting in the line. I wouldn't be surprised if some people ate their pastries before they got to the register and just left without paying. read more
