Every dish was incredibly authentic, the meat was perfectly tender, and the portions were generous. The staff was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and attentive, and the atmosphere made the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for authentic North Indian cuisine, Karma Kafé in Hoboken is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be back!

Their food is good quality, good portion, and well-priced. Every now and then I catch a BOGO deal and convince myself I'm craving Indian. This time, I got a BOGO of Chicken Tikka Masala. it was mild, creamy, tangy, and had a good amount of chicken in it. It's served with basmati rice and dal but definitely needs a bigger portion of rice. The Lamb Korma was a good try. It is lamb cubes in a mild cashew nut herb sauce, and I enjoyed this sauce so much more! It's creamier and less sweet than the Tikka Masala. The Roasted Garlic Naan was burnt on the bottom half this time so I ate what I could but it didn't hit the spot like last time. All in all, I'm still a fan!

Appetizers & Indo-Chinese (The Highlights) - Gobi Manchurian (5/5): Absolute perfection. Crispy cauliflower florets coated in a glossy, tangy, savory sauce that didn't turn soggy. A must-order. - Paneer Tikka Sizzler (5/5): Arrived smoking hot to the table with beautifully charred edges, tender paneer cubes, and deeply spiced aromatics. - Fried Paneer Momo (4/5): Golden, crisp outer wrapper packed with well-seasoned paneer filling. The dipping chutney tied it together nicely. - Paneer Chili (4/5): Classic Indo-Chinese flavors with crisp peppers, onions, and bold soy-chili heat. - Veg Chowmein (4/5): Great wok-hei char, bouncy noodles, and vibrant, crunchy vegetables--hits that street-style nostalgia squarely on the mark. Mains & Breads - Paneer Karahi (5/5): Rich, robustly spiced tomato-onion gravy loaded with crushed coriander seeds and bell peppers. Wonderfully balanced and hearty. - Shaam Savera (4/5): Tender spinach-paneer koftas served over a velvety, mildly spiced makhani-style gravy. Rich, elegant, and well-executed. - Kulcha & Roti: Arrived warm and fresh; the kulcha had a satisfying, pillowy chew that paired effortlessly with the gravies. - Tadka Dal (0/5): The lone letdown of the evening. It was completely watered-down, lacking the earthy body, ghee tempering, and bold garlic-cumin aromatics you expect from a proper tadka dal. It tasted thin and diluted. Aside from the dal, the culinary execution across the board was remarkably strong. If you lean heavily into their Indo-Chinese appetizers, sizzlers, and rich paneer curries, Empyrean Kitchen delivers an excellent meal in Hoboken.

We came here shortly after their opening after waiting in great anticipation for about a year. I'm giving one extra star just for the benefit of the doubt because they just opened, or maybe I ordered the wrong things. The menu is not very vegetarian-friendly. Samosa chaat was lacking in yogurt and tamarind sauce. Very heavy on the chickpeas. Paneer makhani biryani was just lots of dry rice, dry paneer, lacking flavor. We barely touched it. There were items on the menu we asked for that they didn't have. Their prices are a bit high for basically fast-food quality. There is a 4% cash discount btw. The owner seemed very nice and earnest. I think they should include some more universally enjoyed Indian staples on the menu just to get more people in the door, and then people will venture into the mandi and biryani. Best of luck.

In a world where some UES people won't travel to the UWS, my main strategic advantage is willingness to deal with long train rides and walks in search of unique cuisine. I've even impressed my LA friend because why would someone in Los Feliz go all the way to Culver City? That brings me to Chef of India. I lack the expertise to convey the intensity of the Chilli Masala Idli but urge you to try this flavor powerhouse. The restaurant's own description doesn't go into much detail, noting "chilli sauce and South Indian spices," but I can respect that they're saving their energy for the cooking rather typing. There's a strong garlic vibe and some onions, but I'm not skilled enough to discern the many other ingredients at work here. I still haven't been to Chef of India in person but it might get the top spot in my Uber Eats Hall of Fame.

The food was pretty tasty, spicier than we expected for "mild", but nothing unbearable. Definitely the least boring butter chicken I've ever had. The chicken was slightly overcooked though, depending on the piece. It came with two sauces, a yogurt-based sauce that was very tasty and cooling for the spice and a much more spicy/spiced sauce that was too spicy for me, but had nice flavor. The roti was fine, nice that we at least had that to dip in the sauces since we didnt have the rice.
