This restaurant is a great addition to downtown Jersey City. It is a beautiful restaurant with so much attention to detail: plates, bathroom, decor. The food was excellent. The rainak bazaar tiki choley was one of the best dishes I have had all year. The potato patty's sauce was incredible! My friend and I shared a smoked and a chargrilled tikka dish. Perfection. I had the javitri cocktail. It was a smooth and balanced old fashion. Our server was so friendly and she gave great descriptions of the dishes and cocktails.

This place has been the talk of the town! We kept seeing it all over Instagram, and when we found out it's the sister restaurant of Bungalow with the same owners (the team behind places like GupShup and Adda), we knew we had to check it out. and ofcourse getting reservation is not that easy.. good luck over there! The moment you walk in, the ambience grabs your attention. It's beautifully designed. It's not as huge as some Instagram reels make it look, but it's a decent-sized restaurant. The bar is at right side, with the main dining area on the left. There was another section that wasn't open yet, so I guess they'll open it in the future. The decor is really well done. Since the theme is inspired by pre-partition Punjab, you can see touches from both sides of Punjab throughout the restaurant. Even the restrooms follow the same theme. The overall vibe is impressive. Our server, Jonathan, was excellent. Even though he wasn't Indian, he knew the menu inside out. He explained every dish, how it was prepared, and gave honest recommendations. Great job by the management on training their staff. Here's what we ordered: * Patiala Jafrani Murgh - Beautiful presentation and the chicken was soft and juicy, but I expected a little more in terms of flavor. 3.5/5 * Amritsari Macchi - Crispy, perfectly fried in mustard oil, and absolutely delicious. 5/5 * Amritsari Bhatti Murgh - The best appetizer of the evening. Straight from the tandoor, juicy, topped with a light gravy, and had the perfect tangy spice. 5/5 * Haneeth Lamb - Our server mentioned this is made with lamb rack instead of the leg. It tasted good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. It's a bit messy to eat since you have to use your hands, and I personally prefer meatier cuts. That's just my preference. * Kunna Mutton - this is 'that Handi mutton' ...Wow! The meat was incredibly tender and soft, and the rich gravy was fantastic. Definitely one of the highlights. 5/5 * Chicken Changezi - It reminded me more of chicken tikka than a traditional Changezi. Good, but nothing memorable. 3.5/5 * Rumali Roti - It became hard after sitting for a while. I expected it to stay soft throughout the meal. 2/5 * Garlic Naan - Soft, flavorful, and had just the right amount of garlic. 4/5 * Mithi Bread Tiramisu - The cream on top was delicious, but the bread underneath was way too hard. I couldn't even cut it properly with a spoon. This definitely needs improvement. 2/5 One thing that really stood out was the presentation. Every dish was served in unique plates and bowls that matched the style of the food. You could tell someone put a lot of thought into choosing the serving ware, and it made the dining experience even better. We also celebrated one of our friends' birthdays here, which made the evening even more special. Note: they add 20% gratuity by default Overall, I'd rate the food 3.5/5. But honestly, you don't come here just for the food--you come for the complete experience. The ambience, decor, service, presentation, and overall vibe make it a place that's worth visiting. Even with a few dishes that could be improved, we had a really enjoyable evening and would definitely come back ( if got the reservation, lol)

I would rate 3.5 if I could. Pros: excellent food quality, ambiance, and decent service. Cons: prices don't accurately reflect what is served, confusing allergen labels For an app, we ordered the Pind D Makki Roti (cornmeal bread) for $7, which the server told us is typically ordered along with a dip from the Saath Mein section. So we chose the Kheera Akhrot Raita (cucumber yogurt) for $8. The bread that arrived was one very flat disc about the size of my hand. It was nowhere near the amount you would typically associate with a bread basket, and about 80% of the dip was left over, so we ordered another disc. For my main, I got the Chawla Khandani Murgh ($26), which was within a section labeled "curry". While the chicken was good and served in a delicious cashew gravy, there was zero rice. It was just chicken in sauce... My husband got the Patiala Zafrani Murgh ($24), where cream cheese was the second ingredient listed behind chicken, and what arrived was simply a plate of bare chicken with a side cup of NON-creamy sauce. I got a glass of Huia Sauvignon Blanc -- appreciated the organic option. The menu has one icon for gluten and one icon for gluten free, but most menu items have neither icon, so the server said to just ask... that felt strange. Overall, the food tasted great, but we were confused by the portion sizes and lack of variety for what we paid.

I tried to snag a table opening weekend and I wasn't able to BUT I was able to make a reservation for two weeks later and that day finally came. I love the details in the decor and the space is so nice and bright which I enjoyed. Cocktails 10/10: I went with my family and we ordered the Gulistan, Hari Chutney, Laal Bagh, and Javitri. The Gulistan was my favorite along with the Hari Chutney and they were so so good!! Service: 100/10! The staff was so attentive and friendly and made the experience that much more amazing! Food 9/10: The paneer tikka and tikki choley were delicious and my favorites! The gol gappe was fun but not the best I've had and the makki de kebab was okay. The Sabketa and Baingan Bharta were also a fave. We also ordered the Maa Di Aloo Mattar Tehri which tasted so good and flavorful! Dessert: The Gulab Jamun donut was SO good I would definitely order that again!

Look, it's very hard to give a review to PMH as they've been barely open for a week. Somehow they have 35 reviews on Google already which is wild. So again, caveat is that this a NEW restaurant (even though there are sister locations). We were excited to try this out after hearing it's associated with Bungalow & Gupshup. We also liked the story of blending both sides of Punjab. After hearing there were walk-ins only during the initial 4th of July weekend, we thought we were geniuses standing in line at 4:30pm for a 5pm Sunday afternoon opening. Sadly, nope. We only realized after the fact that they had to seat people who didn't get to enjoy PMH on Friday/Saturday because of the long lines. No communication told to us beforehand and/or no signs. That isn't good. But thankfully, they setup a reservation for us a few days later. This part was a 1 or 2/10 for us. Anyhow, we came back a few days later and walked into a beautiful ambiance. It's not terribly huge. There's a small private area in the back. Bathrooms (2) are both very clean. The bar area itself is of a decent size. The main dining room fits around 50-60 at most, with a lot of 2 person tables and a few 4 -6 person tables near the lefthand side. From here, I'll get into the finer details: Service: 6/10. I think they did a good job recognizing that the grand opening was a bit (to say the least) of a communications disaster. The one thing I wish they did was explain how some of the dishes were to be eaten. I think that should be a must when it comes to very fancy Indian dining. We were confused how to eat a few of the items and only found out after the fact. Also, we noticed that the lids to the clay pots shattered twice while we were eating from other people's tables. Second thing regarding the tables: they're WAY TOO SMALL for a table of 2. We could barely fit everything on the table as we were eating. It was almost uncomfortable for us to eat at times. Cocktails: 9.5/10: Can't really ask for anything more. My other half ordered the Gulistan & I got a Mezcal-based cocktail which is like a Spicy Margarita. Maybe the Tajin should've been around the rim of the glass rather than down one side, but that's a minor suggestion. This applies throughout the menu, but I love the explanations behind the cocktails and the food items explaining the origins of those items. Adds a nice taste, but they should explain it in person too. Appetizers: 7/10: Ok so we ordered 2 appetizers. Both from the Tandoor & Angaar section as we didn't see anything totally unique in the Gali Gali section. We went with the Chowk Chaap & Makki de Kebab. As for both: I loved the presentation of the Makki de kebab in the wheatgrass. However, we had no clue how to properly eat this. I looked on Instagram and found out you eat the corn separately? If only there was instruction. The toothpick didn't make it easy to eat, but it was quite tasty nonetheless. The aioli was really tasty and added a nice kick. The Chowk Chaap actually had a kick to it. Only thing missing was some green chutney. Not sure how you can eat it without any chutney because of the heat. Also, the texture does look like chicken in the inside, so it may scare the devout of vegetarians haha. Mains: 9/10 We decided to split two mains, which ended up being enough for us. The sarson da saag was served quite nicely in a bowl along with some white butter, jaggery, 2 makki roti, and chaas. We didn't know the drink was included with it. The sarson da saag was fine. Maybe needed al little kick to it, but love the presentation. Too bad we had such a small table. We complemented this with the Maa Di Aloo Mattar Tehri, which is effectively a veggie biryani. This was served in a pressure cooker for us. It was very nice and hearty. Almost perfect for a winter dish. One of the managers or owners came to explain the mains for us, which was nice, though we wish we got that explanation for the apps. It's ok, but I actually thought the food wasn't bad. We had lots of food, but no room for dessert. But fortunately, PMH has a lot of room to grow. I'll give them 3 stars until I can get back in next time. Hopefully they can take care of a few growing pains between now and then. Focus less on the influencers and more on the real customers. I do think the two person tables need to be reimagined, but that may be too late now.

Recently I was happy to pop in for a quick introduction to PMH. I only sampled a few things on the menu and am looking forward to coming back for a proper meal. For drinks, I had the Toshkhana ($16, Whiskey, dates, clove, citrus), which I found to be a little weak and wish the flavor was stronger of the ingredients. I also tried the Gulistan ($16, gin, strawberry, gulkand, rose, citrus), which I found to be too sour to be palatable, but it was a pretty cocktail. For food we shared the Rainak Bazaar Tikki Choley ($ 16 Jalandhar Methi potato patty with slow-cooked chickpeas, yogurt, house masala), the Amritsari Bhatti Murgh ($22, Chicken thigh, Bhatti, tea infusion, pomegranate, black pepper), and the Mithi Bread Tiramisu ($12, Ghee-toasted milk bread, saffron milk, mascarpone). The Rainak Bazaar Tikki Choley was my favorite dish and the portion size was good. I did not try the chicken dish, but my friends thought it was very good and raved about it. I did not like the tiramisu at all. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and service was friendly. I am already looking forward to my next visit and trying more of the menu.

However, sometimes you just take a chance and pray it lives up to the hype. Having a short period of time before our show at Radio City Music Hall, two of us shared a quick bite here after a few snacks on the nearby street fair. Just one order of Chicken Tikka Marsala, Garlic Naan, and a Mango Lassi. I'm actually not a big fan of Chicken Tikka Marsala because it's often too sweet and creamy for me. Though the chicken was overcooked, I did find this version quite differernt, in a good way. It had depth, and definitely a lot of heat, even on the medium level, the spiciness was very noticeable. My dining partner would have died without that Mango Lassi, which was yummy. Lmao On the other hand, the Garlic Naan was horrible. Instead of being a pillowy soft bread with some chew, it was stiff and cardboard-ish. This is one of the worst versions I had in NYC. Not sure how this major blunder can be overlooked. Naan is such an important part of Indian food culture, I can't believe they haven't realize that they need to fix this matter. Btw, service was efficient, almost too efficient that it felt rushed. One minute after we were seated, we were asked if ready to order. Again, we were asked literally one minute later. Then, just as we were finishing our meal, and while I'm still chewing my final bite of food, the bus boy cane to take our plates away. I was technically done, but would have like to have had a minute. Finally, without asking about desserts, another server came by with our check as if to say, "Please pay and make room for the next guests." I know we wanted a quick meal, but never thought we would be in and out of a situation down restaurant in less than 30 minutes. Hahaha Anyway, I live in Queens where we have same quality Indian restaurants at a much lower price point. Portions are bigger too. For me, this is an attempt at finding a gem that everyone seems to suggest. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to return to an Indian restaurant knowing they can't properly make naan.

Before leaving, we confront the owner about the inconsistencies in his story, but he just double downs on his lie, alleging that we don't understand how a restaurant is run. For some reason, he even started to yell at the busgirl who was trying to get him to apologize? In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.

Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. I believe there are other Indian Accent locations in India, and was excited to try their NYC spot. We went on a weekend evening around 5pm and had a really enjoyable experience overall. Nice ambiance inside, didn't feel overly packed where we were sitting. Service was great for the most part. Shane, our main server, stood out and he was SUPER helpful in walking us through the menu and making thoughtful suggestions. That said, it's definitely a team-service setup, so multiple staff members will assist your table throughout the meal. Everyone had great energy and made the experience feel polished. We did the prix fixe menu and went with 3 courses each across our group of 3. Two of us opted for the "midis" and one went for dessert, but we ended up sharing everything. Even though the portions initially seem small, we were surprisingly full by the end. One important note: go into this with an open mindset. This is not your typical, "generic" Indian food experience - it's much more modern, creative, and experimental. We did a lot of research before deciding what to order, so here's what we got/ordered: Amuse bouche (complimentary): A pumpkin shorba (soup) served in a cute little cup and blue cheese naan. Both were a great start, and we actually asked for more of the shorba. They said they'd bring it, but it never came, which was a bit disappointing, but still appreciated the palate cleanser concept. Appetizers (ordered 3): * Phulka jackfruit: Kind of like a taco - really nice flavor with these crispies on it and a nice sauce. * Kashmiri morel mushrooms: I'm not usually a mushroom person, but this was excellent. Loved the creamy base and overall flavor. * Potato sphere chaat: Probably the weakest of the three. It was more sev than potato, and didn't quite hit for me. Midis (ordered 2): * Yogurt kebab: Very interesting texture with a nice chutney base * Sweet pickle pork: I didn't personally try it, but the other two in my group loved it Mains (ordered 3): * Sweet corn vadai: Really unique and flavorful - one of the standouts * Paneer kofta: Not my favorite; different from what I expected * Chicken tikka meatballs: Surprisingly good! I don't usually love meatballs, but these had a great texture and flavor Accompaniments (ordered 3): * Butter chicken kulcha: Easily my favorite - would come back just for this, but note it can be a little "greasy" * Daal with black garlic naan: The naan was unique with a slightly sweet taste; the daal could've used a bit more depth * Chana masala kulcha: A little spicy but still very flavorful Dessert (ordered 1 + 1 complimentary): * Banana sticky date cake: A lovely, satisfying end to the meal * Makhan malai (complimentary for a birthday in our group): Very airy and unique texture - not really for us personally, but appreciate the team supporting our birthday celebration We skipped drinks even though the menu is extensive - we wanted to focus on the food Overall, I really liked this place. The dishes were a mix - nothing was outright bad (except maybe the makhan malai for our taste), but not everything was a hit either. Still, it's a fun, elevated dining experience with creative takes on Indian cuisine. I'd definitely go back, especially for the butter chicken kulcha. Only real miss was the forgotten re-order of the amuse bouche, but otherwise service and vibes were strong.
