I've frequented this Park & Call a lot these days as I've been helping shuttle family a lot these days. It's basically a free parking area for those waiting to pick up folks at the airport. It's meant to be short term parking so within 30 minutes. L O C A T I O N Basically at the airport unlike SFO which is nice. Just navigate yourself towards OAK and there are signs for Park & Call on the right side. There's not many spots. So say it's a particularly bad weather day and there are a lot of delayed flights....good luck finding a spot. Luckily I've always found a spot The spaces are also quite tight so be careful backing out or getting into spaces. There are now portable toilets in the lot but it's also taking up spaces that could be parking spots. So in case you do need to do a pit stop, there is a toilet there. Now whether or not it's fully stocked or a pleasant experience, I'm not sure as I've never had to use it. There is a bus/shuttle drop off there. Thus taking 1/3 of the area for that purpose. O V E R A L L Again it's free so, first come first serve. Hopefully you find a spot. It's close to the terminals which is a plus. But I wish there were more spots and a bit more spacious so that it won't be prone to accidents. With all that said, it's better than having to pay for parking! read more

Quality/Quantity - Had to come here twice in two days. Once to pick up my wife from her Oregon shopping girls trip. And the second time I picked up my daughter. No frills or thrills, just simple. Large parking lot with outhouses (bathrooms) and hand washing station. Good size lot. Scary that there were so many cars here at 1am+. Actually, more cars here at 1am than 9am the following day. Atmosphere - See above. Service - Cut and pasted from their website: "Free 30-minute waiting area so you don't have to circle the airport and waste gas while you wait for that call from an arriving traveler." Great place to wait for an arrival, less than 5mins from lot to terminals, it's a straight shot!

How convenient is this place! Even for someone who doesn't live here! I came through to pick up fellow outta-towners and was advised to use this place and have them call when they're walking out the terminal. It is THAT easy. There were plenty of spaces available on a Friday afternoon. I had a bit of time and read a few reviews about this place. Boy, am I thankful for fellow Yelpers advising to make a left on the stop sign (vs going straight and missing the route to the terminals altogther! Because that's what I would have done and the signs weren't that clear either!) It wasn't bad for a Friday afternoon. We were outta there no less than 5 minutes after leaving the lot for a pickup. There's not much to comment about an Airport Cellphone Parking Lot except that it's a decent size, it seems safe (although that's hard to gauge), and because the Airport isn't huge, it's a short drive to the terminals from that lot. It beats going around in circles.. not much more I can say about that. read more

The lot is convenient, well lit and has direct access to both terminals down a little side street. I'd never been to Oakland airport before and found everything easily because the road signs are very clear. There was space to park and wait even on the morning before Thanksgiving. read more

Absolutely no where near enough parking for an airport this size. I am all for the 30 minute limit, however there is no one monitoring it. There were cars parked in this lot with no one in them. Meanwhile I circled the lot for 7 minutes waiting for someone to leave. read more

You park, you wait for their call, you pick them up. Easy as pie right? Eh, sometimes. That's if you can find a space. I've been here on during mornings and nights. But here are things to keep in mind: ~ The tiny lot probably has about 20 spaces. ~ Mornings don't seem so bad finding a spot. ~ During lunch or dinner time, good luck! ~ Even after midnight, all the spaces can be taken. ~ Cannot leave your car unattended. ~ Signs that say "30 minute wait", but who really monitors that. ~ The lot is a bulky oddly triangular shape, so look out behind you as I've seen fender benders here. Both by backing up, or near the exit. ~ Unbelievable they can't expand, or move part of their employee lot to double on space. ~ Once you exit and stop at the stop sign, make a left onto the airport circle to the terminals. Going straight will take you to the Economy Parking lot. Really, what more can I say? It's Oakland freakin' Airport! read more

Oakland Airport, your renovations have made the terminals so much better but your Park and Call Lot is horrible. I think maybe a few years ago, I was able to find a spot. Now I wonder if I should even bother. The last two times I've gone during non-holiday times, there's been someone directing traffic away from the lot as of to say "haha, better luck next time" as the employee lot sits half full. I just drive to the hourly parking and pay the $2 rather than waste the gas. The one star is for the fact that the lot is small, there's never any parking and I've seen many people leave the lot holding their cell phones because they can't park and safely call the person they're picking up. Oakland, this is a hazard. SFO and San Jose have beat you in this area. Please expand this lot somehow to make the airport safer for everyone! read more

PARK & CALL (not Economy) LOT is a fantastic concept! Saves traffic circling the airport and enhances safety for people not using their phones while driving. PROBLEM IS OAKLAND has exponentially less space designated to "park & call" or "cell phone lot" than any airport I've ever been to (including airports much smaller than Oakland's). It leads to anarchy, gridlock & frustrated drivers. In the end a great idea that is very poorly executed and probably now a disservice to the community at large. read more

The worst decision I have ever made to reserve long-term parking. It's difficult to find the location when you arrive at night. The sTreet sign is small and you can see it only if you know that it's there. They drop you off but to pick you up you have to walk to a designated area. The problem in my case was the Oakland airport North TErminal and for JetBlueX and the shuttle did not Cooke to pick me up. They said I have to go to the main terminal to be picked up wHich is abouT a few miles away. This is outrages and i will never ever use that service again and not recommend to anyone. I took Lyft to get to the parkinglot and spoke to an attendee at the parking lot. She said she could not help me with anything. Bad! Too bad that customers pay for services they don't receive. read more

I'm sure many of us frequent Oakland International Airport to pickup family and friend arriving at the airport. Even with the expected arrival time, it is hard to gauge when the person you are picking up will be out front given factors such as luggage pickup, etc. So what can you do? Drive around and around the terminal? Well, you can't park at the curb and wait as you'll get a ticket from the Alameda County Sheriff. The viable option is the Park and Call lot. At you enter the airport on Airport Access Road, follow the signs to the Park and Call lot that's on John Glenn Drive. It is a free lot, yes "Free", with about 40+ spaces where you can park and surf the web on your smartphone, listen to some tunes, or catch some ZZZs while waiting for your arrival to call you to say they are out front and ready to be picked up. When you get the call, the road from the lot leads right onto Airport Access Road and right into the Airport terminals. What a great idea, huh? Not sure if the other Bay Area airports have a Park and Call lot, but I have and am taking advantage of this free parking as my pit stop where I wait for "the call" before I head out for my pickup. read more

Unlike the SF airport cell lot, this parking area is close to the airport, you don't have to get back on the freeway to reach the terminals. It is possible to get to them in just a few minutes. The only drawback to this lot is its small size. I would imagine there would be times when it would be impossible to park. read more

The parking lot is too small for all these people parked to wait. That's why the terminal for pick up is so packed. Because there's no where to park beside at the actual terminal or no where. I don't travel much, so the need to come to Oakland International Airport is rare for me. In this case, it was to pick up arriving friends. On the way there I was thinking "ugh, I'm gonna have to park somewhere on Hegenberger and hang out.....or drive round and round the airport wasting time." Neither option sounded good. On the way toward the airport, with a leaning toward driving round and round (after seeing some of the "clientele" at the gas stations after dark"), I happened to notice the Park & Call sign. "hmmm, what is this?" What I didn't know was there is now a place to park and wait for your arrival to contact you. Laugh all you want if the lot has been there 22 years and I just didn't know it. I swooped up into the lot...and almost ran over 3 cars. Its a small little lot. But I did get a space, saved the "round and round" gas, didn't get jacked at the gas station, and all was well. One final note - exiting the lot is convenient as it points you right toward the terminals, sketchy as it feeds you right into the flow of mad drivers racing from the freeway toward the terminals at warp 9. read more

The driver drove as soon as he saw me walking to his shuttle. I had to walk 700ft to get to his shuttle. At the parking lot gate he asked me to walk about 1 mile to get to my car. And I saw him driving by me like nothing happen. Shuttle 9933. January 28, 2018. He should be reprimanded for neglecting me as their customer. There is no zero star so 1 Star it is!! Lucky me, I've only had good parking experiences here so far. We started parking here instead of Off-Airport Parking last year, as the price with the coupon you can print from the Oakland Airport parking website makes it a competitive price. It's only a couple of dollars more to park here ($12/day inclusive of tax and other fees with the coupon) and I think that's worth the convenience of being really close to the airport. We also have not had any problems with shuttle drivers being unfriendly or inconsistent as other reviewers have had. We've had a few early morning flights out of Oakland and at such times, we have not had to wait long for the shuttle to appear. You do have to carry your own bag in and out of the shuttle. Also, when the lot was full on Thanksgiving Day, we were directed to park at Daily Parking (which is more expensive) and given a voucher for the Economy Lot price. When we were checking out of the lot, they honored the voucher and my extra discount. I ended up paying the same $12/day fee for the Economy Lot. We will definitely keep on parking here with the coupon. It's so convenient! read more

The parking is so convenient. Many times if I am leaving on an early morning flight I can save a good 10 minutes by parking in this lot. The only down side is that it is $32/day. A $18 premium over off airport parking. What did I learn today? Money well spent especially when you expense it with work. read more

If you have a car with out-of-state tags, chances are good you'll be ticketed by the City of Oakland police for an "invalid registration," even if the registration in question is valid and even if you reside out of state. To contest the ticket, you still have to pay the fine (which comes to $85) and then they refund you if/when they decide your claim is valid. I still haven't received my money back. I suppose I'm happy the police are keeping a close eye on the lot. I just wish they could find some other way to pay their bills. Also, keep in mind that if you park for three days, five hours, and one minute, you'll get charged for four full days. I guess that at $6/hour and $36/day (or whatever rates there are for the lot you're parked in), I'm happy they don't charge by the hour for anything less than 24 hours. But if you're just a touch over the 5 hour limit...be prepared. read more

It's a Tuesday night, you live in San Francisco, and your sister is flying into Oakland at 9:45 p.m. Then, what do you know? The flight is delayed, and delayed again. You've had a long day at work, and attended an after-work networking event which included two glasses of wine, and lots of pretending to be interested in the "expertise" of a couple of windbags from the valley with egos bigger than the company they used to work for (insert Internet giant of choice here). Also, to make matters worse, you're wearing a pair of really cute sandals that have torn your tender winterized feet into bits. You really want to go home, strip, and face plant on the couch with a glass of red and the remote control. Instead, you're crossing the Bay Bridge at 11 p.m. headed for that distant strip of landing lights on the horizon. You figure you'll have to park your car in the short term lot, and go in to wait for your sister in the garishly lit baggage claim. Then, like manna from heaven, you spy the sign for Oakland Airport Park and Call. Park and Call is a free lot where you can sit in your car and wait for your peeps to, well, call. And tell you they're finally here. So you can rev up the engine and go get them, then go home and go to bed. The lot is lit by comforting low wattage streetlamps, so you feel safe from predators but can also take a much needed power nap in the front seat of your car. I think Park and Call should be mandatory for all airports in the nation. read more

Unhelpful Shuttle Driver / Not Senior Friendly: The Economy parking lot at Oakland Airport is a convenient location, however; the shuttle driver provided "NO" assistance to those boarding with luggage and specifically ignored seniors requesting help. Seniors ourselves, my wife was wearing a walking cast for a broken leg and we were traveling with two granddaughters. When we returned to Oakland, the shuttle driver didn't get out of his seat and ignored my request for help loading four large suitcases. Another passenger helped me and commented to the driver that he was being rude. At the next stop a very senior woman walking with a cane asked the driver for help with her suitcase. Her request was obvious but he ignored her too. I assisted the woman with her suitcase while other passengers began complaining loudly about the driver's unhelpful behavior. Once in the Economy lot, we were the last passengers heading to our car in a far back corner at 11:00 p.m. Near the beginning of a parking isle where our car was parked I asked the driver to stop but he refused, he said he could only stop at the next shuttle drop off location which was a considerable distance away at the opposite end of the isle. Considering the late evening, my wife wearing a cast and our large suitcases, one would think the driver would consider these factors when driving past our car. Once at our car, a tire was very low on air. The parking website says "OAK also offers free roadside services including assistance with vehicle lockouts, dead batteries, tire changes and finding a lost vehicle." When a gentleman patrolling the parking lot came by in a pickup I asked if they had a portable air tank or anyone available to provide assistance. He spoke little English and was of no help. I ultimately drove to a service station on the low tire for air. Aside from this driver being very unhelpful to all passengers and particularly insensitive to seniors, my questions would be: 1. Are shuttle drivers prohibited from helping with luggage or was it just our driver? 2. Can drivers use discretion and common sense when dropping off passengers at their cars? 3. Is there really "roadside services" and if so, why don't employees know about them? read more

What a fabulous idea! Drive to the free park and call lot and wait. Have the person you're gonna pick up call you when they're getting to the curb with their bag outside the terminal. It'll take you just a few minutes to get to curbside and you won't have to circle the terminal waiting forever to pick up someone. The park and call lot is the last exit before the terminals. Exit at Cowan Parkway and stay to the left. Parallel the overpass and go through the stop light and you'll see the lot on the right. The only problem with this lot is that it can get busy and finding a space can be problematic, even after its recent expansion. read more

Place is really small but efficient. Just don't plan on being here when it's busy. I've waited here 2 times first time it was a pain cause I had to keep leaving and coming back because there is a 30 min waiting limit before u have to leave then come back. BEWARE of the FREE coupons for daily parking. I got stuck with paying $82 for free parking because I mistakenly entered through the "Hourly" gate; then drove over to the "Daily" area. I didn't know you have to exit the airport parking lot, then re-enter again through a different gate. It was an easy mistake because there isn't anything to keep you from driving from one section to the other. Hard to think all this through when you're trying to catch a flight. The supervisor on duty and the marketing manager refused to honor the free parking coupon. They gave me $8 off instead and pitched future free parking promotions. I'll pass, thank you. So, just be extremely careful if you park using their coupons and aren't familiar with the lot. read more

DO NOT PARK HERE! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! I received an email from Oakland Airport Parking offering 3 days free parking if you fly from OAK to LGB. I decided to give them a try. I unfortunatey wasn't able to print out my outbound flight itinerary but I did however got a hold of a print out of my return itinerary and took it with me at the booth. At first they said they needed to see proof that I flew out of OAK and so I showed them my email flight confirmation from my phone, then they said it has to be printed or I can either show them my OAK-LGB boarding pass or luggage tag, of which of course both I didn't have. At this point I decided to ask for a Manager or a Supervisor since it was pretty obvious the person I was talking to wasn't going to accept anything I was giving him. I asked the cashier again if he will accept my outbound itinerary if I get a printout from the airline since my flight was booked as 2 one way flights and now he said ot has to be booked as a roundtrip flight. O was arguing with this cashier for atleast 15 minutes and still no sign of a supervisor. Luckily, one of the people travelling with me had their flight booked as a roundtrip and the airline was able to retrive the reciept for us. I went to their office and spoke to a Carlos. He was also insisting that the flight was suppose to be booked roundtrip but I showed him the coupon printout I have and no where it said the itinerary had to be roundtrip. Finally they accepted my coupon! I parked for 4 days $24x4=$96 minus $72 coupon = $24 total paid. My final advise, do not park here. They don't know a thing or two about customer service! Save yourself from trouble due to the fact that their own employees here do not know their own policies/promotions. If I had parked at Expresso parking, my total would only be $36 for 4 days. I pretty much saved only $12 but had to jump hoops to get it. read more

I often park here and run at a dead sprint to catch my flight at the last minute without bothering to wait for the shuttle. It's more expensive than San Francisco long-term parking but if you operate on tight margins like I do it's worth every penny. Beware that the shuttle service is VERY inconsistent. And finding your car if you've been away for a week can get pretty intense. And one time a shady fellow who appeared to be on drugs or mentally ill followed me around alone--no security in sight-- and wouldn't leave until I memorized his phone number and repeated it back to him. I was preparing to kick him in the nuts and run away, but he was satisfied that I'd call him soon and wandered off sparing me the trouble. read more

Having family and friends who travel often into OAK I use the free "Park and Call" lot to wait for who ever Im picking up so that I wont have to circle the airport multiple times. This convenient parking lot has about 20-30 spots where you can wait for your loved one arriving home from a trip rather than circling or risk getting a ticket waiting curbside. The directions into the lot is easy and you are about a1 minute drive from the "Park and Call" lot to Southwest's terminal 2. Convenient, more environmentally friendly and will save aggravation from looking for the person you're picking up! read more

The staff is rude. I saw two security ladies loudly embarrass an elderly man over his jacket and bag. Then witnessed one of the ticket agents at the gate was over the intercom embarrassing an elderly black lady in a wheel chair bc she was in the wrong line. Then my mom and I tried walking on the plane together even tho she had 4 numbers behind me (same letter, A) and that gate agent rudely told her to get in her place and I could just save her a seat. That has never happened to me before! My husband and I walk together on planes all the time with no problem with our numbers being a cpl off. Then she made a huge announcement ab it embarrassing my mom. That took more effort and time than just letting her on. read more

Economy lot - Expensive, infrequent shuttles; and they don't label the parking spots with numbers, so it makes it hard to find your car in the dark. The plus was that the driver was very courteous. read more

This might perhaps be the smallest cell phone lot on the planet. I have entered many times to only drive through because there is not enough parking spaces. At times you find pigs double parked in the lot and you have to blast your airhorn so that you can get around them. Now I am going to actually see if anybody reads this review and give you a couple tips on starting a keyless car. Remember to always push down on the brake before you push the start button. Also, it is important to make sure the car is in park. When you push the button you will hear a noise. That is your car starting and your signal to stop pushing the button. Now some of you might argue that one should press the button but I have always had more luck in pushing the button. Now that you have mastered the art of starting a keyless car, sit back, smile and marvel at this new accomplishment. Ricole is a top notch shuttle driver. She saw me come into the lot. She pulled up next to my car, saw that I was a hot mess. Reminded me to get my cell phone, wallet and lock my car. She took me to SWA terminal and was off. A little over priced. They are prompt picking u up in the lot. But I usually wait 15-20 for my ride from the terminal back to the lot. read more

This review is for the "Economy" parking option. It's not worth it. It's a waste of time and money. It's about a half mile from the terminal. The shuttle is not consistent. Waited 20 minutes for a shuttle bus after arriving, one showed up and let people off but it said "OUT OF SERVICE" and would not let me on. Must have been break time for the driver. I finally walked. For $16 a day, you might as well choose one of the off-airport options with more consistent shuttle service and cheaper pricing. read more

This little cell-phone lot is just that -- little!!! I think there are only like 28 spaces or something (yeah I was bored waiting for my husband's flight) and late at night it can feel a little sketchy. But it sure beats paying for parking at the airport or circling like a shark waiting for arrivals. read more
