Not a bad place. We came here late and just got pie, but the servers were definitely not excited to see our group. They did what they could to get us our pie (a la mode, and it was very good--go for the Razzle/Triple Berry) and all turned out quite alright. 5 stars not because it's fancy-schmancy... That, it's not! But the enthusiastic and upbeat atmosphere, great food, reasonably priced, and excellent service have made this a tradition for us whenever we come to Glacier. Perfect bison burger, cooked just right. I love the "Mountain Baker" baked potato smothered in veggies, olives, and feta with the lemon & olive oil dressing, which sounds weird, but it's terrific. Huge menu for such a tiny place which is, btw, always packed at meal-times. Awesome pies by reputation and my hubby's exclamation. (I'm not much of a pie person.) With such great food, no alcohol is necessary! Oh, and check out the gift shop--it's got all the usual and expected stuff, and quite a bit more. Enjoy! Avoid. Stopped here in early August because they allowed our dog on the deck with outside seating. The exterior was dilapidated: tall weeds, paint peeling, deck splintering, dirty oil cloth tablecloths with holes and frayed edges. Pancake syrup and Ketchup bottle on table in sun, lid stuck on caked with old, black ketchup residue. Tables and chairs covered with sticky residue. Service was extremely slow with surly wait staff. My full glass of ice tea spilled over table, I mopped it up with table napkins. Wait staff finally appeared and just looked at puddle/pile of wet napkins on table. I asked for towel to clean it up and she dropped a dirty rag on table, turned and went back inside. Cheeseburger eventually arrived covered with black ashes and grease, bun edges were black/burned and meat was burned/dry. Didn't eat it. When standing up to leave, my shorts were stuck to the chair. The back of my shorts were sticky, covered with pieces of paint and dark spots of pancake syrup. Although there aren't many restaurant options in this area, don't eat here. Wish we had stopped at the grocery store instead. read more

Horrible service! Came here yesterday after a day a glacier wanting to have dinner with my family. When we walked in at least 3 of the 7 total tables in the restaurant were dirty or only halfway bused so we had to wait for a table to be cleaned... not big deal... We sat down and ordered our food. All the food came but mine... which was nothing special a hamburger. My niece had to send hers back bc they forgot the bacon on her bacon burger. I figured when the waitress was finished with that she would bring my dinner... nope. The only other time she came back to our table was to drop off the check... didn't even return to the table to see if the rest of my families food was okay. The cooks had all left in the meantime to go out to smoke... when I pointed out that hadn't gotten my dinner she did offer to have the staff make it to go but at that point I just wanted to get the heck out of there. Then we had to tell her 3 different times to take the food that we had not received off the ticket... will never return... do yourself a favor don't make the same mistake we did and avoid this place! read more

Heard great things about this place....but will not eat here again. I think the only reason it is rated high as 4 stars is because the customers are so hungry from hiking in Park and then waiting so long for their food. Very poor customer service...It was extremely hot inside that day and my wife was not feeling to great so we asked to move outside, but we're told this is against policy, so she sat outside and waited on porch. This did not seem a ridiculous request as it was not super busy and the place is like 10 tables? Ordered a hot dog for kids that came burned, bun n all. The Thai burrito sounded great, but had absolutely no flavor. Did not bother with pie after waiting so long for food. Wish it could have been a better dinner after so much fun in the park. Will try Johnson's cafe next time. read more

I have bragged on this hidden gem for years and sent many people this way, No more! New owners! Everything is changed, The menu is no where near what It used to be. Prices are a lot different, ie: UP! Then their is the pie situation, which is the reason for going here, right? Only three kinds of pie versus the MANY varieties they had before. This is NOT a pie cafe any more. And $10 for a piece of huckleberry pie is highway robbery! BEWARE tourists! The food was mediocre, as was the service. If our family of four could give them no stars we would. We were starved from hiking in the park and ordered the burrito, spaghetti & meatballs, and the bison burger. The burrito was awful with everything but the kitchen sink cooked inside with no flavor. The bison burger had fake grill marks like something from a school lunchroom and was on a burnt wheat bun. How anyone could mess up spaghetti is a wonder in it's self but it was terrible. We ate outside because it was too hot inside but needed a complimentary fly strip to hold off the flies. The flies we could handle as it's summer. The horrible tasting food we could not. All four of us agreed it was the worse meal on our 11 day trip. Just don't! read more

I get that flies are an issue in region during certain times of year. But, for the love of sanity, do something about them. They were everywhere during our bfast. My French toast was some of the best I have ever had. However the bacon was some of the worst. Completely overdone and it cost $4!! read more

This place is wonderful! It is such a shame that they closed their doors forever this past Friday due to some sort of issue with the owners of the land (apparently they plan on taking over the place). We ate here daily (sometimes twice a day) during a recent week long stay in Glacier National Park. St. Mary, Montana will never be the same again, nor will my annual trips to Glacier. This place will be very much missed. I loved their pies, and their employees were always excellent and interesting. The pies were out of this world! Very sad about the closing. We called in here on our way back from Glacier National Park. It's a small place, which is fine. We didn't want a chain restaurant and we were looking forward to a simple and tasty lunch. The first thing we noticed was that every table needed bussing. Except one, where the cafes only other customer sat. A young guy who worked there, saw us standing and continued talking to the other staff. He eventually came over and was courteous, but when we said we wanted a table but all of them needed to be bussed, he suggested that we sit at the counter. I said no, we wanted a table. and so he cleaned them. This got our impression off to a bad start. I wanted a cold sandwich and fries. The waitress said no problem, they had turkey and ham. I chose turkey. She didn't ask what type of bread I wanted which was odd. I got the turkey sandwich and the bread was a bland white, which was hard on the outside, it was clearly not fresh that day. The contents were sparse and basic. Turkey, cheese, tomato and a bit of lettuce. Very small amounts of each. My wife had a hot sandwich which came advertised with a side salad. It's a good job she asked what the side salad was, because the waitress said there wasn't any. It was chips and salsa instead. My fries were salty and almost impossible to eat. I asked if the coffee was fresh. The waitress said yes. I ordered the coffee and had to send it back, it was cold. but she gave me fresh heated coffee and didnt charge for it. She apologized and said the burner must be not working. But I do have to wonder how it could have been 'fresh' if it had sat long enough to go cold. The whole meal was about $25.00 and not worth it. Fantastic! Everyone who works here is a hiker, outdoorsy, or just mountain lovin person. They have so many varieties of pie and I tried 4 - yum. The food is really good in general and there is nice outside seating, but small inside so you may have to wait awhile. If there's the blueberry apple pie special, get it! And look for Leoti, the coolest waitress there! Ask her where to hike. read more

The change in management has made some changes to the menu. I went to this cafe twice last summer, and was looking forward to pie and breakfast again. One positive change was the coffee! A MT coffee roaster makes GREAT coffee and quite a few places in the area are serving this great coffee. Breakfast was great, the same multi grain pancakes and menu seemed unchanged. We went back for dinner, and this was disappointing. It was the end of the day, the restaurant had been busy all day, and they were running out of some items. We waited a long time for our order to be taken, and even longer to get food. Granted, we were a group of 6, but food came out at different times, and two dinners were cold by the time they arrived. I had spaghetti and meatballs, meatballs were delicious, but there was very little sauce. And one dinner was forgotten and had to be hastily prepared, it was cold. I hope this is just a matter of the new management getting organized. This cafe was such a treat when traveling around Glacier and needing a break from camp food or over priced fast food. read more

The new Park Cafe is a no go for me, the bison burger was really salty, the kitchen put out so much smoke the whole place was smoke filled and the $8.50 huckleberry pie did not taste like huckleberry at all and they charged another $1.95 for ala mode bringing the price of one slice of pie to $10.45. The meal was expensive, four of us ate for $100.00. I miss the old Park Cafe, so sad to lose such a great restaurant. I will not be back! read more

The Park Cafe used to be a highlight of our trip to Glacier, until 2013 when it started to be under new management. We tried 3 times since then and every time the service was terrible. This last time we were directed to sit at a dirty table, ( a definite no no and gross) then the employees sat at the counter and did mot even attempt to clean the table. A very solid restaurant all around. I went in for breakfast and got the french toast, an oj and a coffee. Now I know that's not really pushing the boundaries for culinary excellence, but the french toast was good, the coffee was fresh, the oj cold and refreshing and the staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance... not as great. Just a little sprucing up would do wonders. Oh and I got a slice of pecan pie to-go. Amazing food after hiking the few days before. Staff is friendly, and exactly what you would want when eating at a small breakfast diner. This is a great food diversion for those who have been dining on camp food or national park food just a little too long. I went here twice, and both times the place was pretty packed. I enjoyed the Heaven's Peak burger I got for dinner and the pie that followed afterwards; the standouts for me, though, were the vegetarian Gypsy Burrito my friend ordered and the Montana Migas I got for breakfast the next day. Everything there is delicious and pretty cheap. They have tasty beef and buffalo hamburgers. You can ask for medium rare if you like, the meat is really fresh. But the best part is the pies. After discovering the place, we ended up coming every day after our hikes. We tried the strawberry-rhubarb, the razzleberry, the lemon meringue, the raspberry and the peach pies. They were all delicious. At the end of the day, they may run out of the most popular ones, so don't go there too late if you want a specific kind. read more

Went for Pie... If you are going to have a huge sign advertising pie, it better be damn good. Meh... $6.50 for a small slice of pie that looked butchered? Not worth it. Three of the slices we got were warm on the outside and cold in the middle. I got the chocolate pie and threw it up that night. Can't say anything about the food, but wouldn't recommend it. Just finished paying $21 for the worst meal I've had in a week, I ordered the fish and chips with an iced tea. The tea had no taste. Maybe because they only used one tea bag per one gallon of water. The ketchup on the table looked old and soured. I opened the bottle and found old and hard ketchup on the rim. The meal arrived and consisted of 3 over cooked commerical grade frozen breaded fish filets. You know, the kind you buy from the grocery store. The fish was over cooked. The more I ate the less I wanted to get sick from tainted food. I left most of the meal on the plate. As you can see I wouldn't recommend this cafe to anyone! read more

We stopped here 2x this past week on a trip to Glacier Park. Excellent food. Between my wife, son, and myself we had a very interesting salad, fish and chips (salmon... mmmm..... the tartar sauce is made on premises and delicious), excellent coffee, several burgers, and of course "Yay Pie!". Huckleberry/blueberry for my wife and me and banana creme for my son (14 years old). All were excellent. Almost a 5 star, but the service on our 2nd visit was not as good as our first visit. I can't attest to the food because we never got any. We waited 45 minutes for a piece of pie and finally walked out. The waiter had a real attitude. I think he asked us 3 times what kind of pie we ordered. It had been recommended to us as a place with great pie and 17 different varieties . They only had about 5 choices. We were so disappointed to hear that the Park Cafe changed hands and isn't as good as it used to be. BUT...the GOOD NEWS is...we found out the former managers are STILL MAKING PIES!!!!!! Just in a different location! You can find their delicious pies at Two Medicine Grill and the Rock'n Roll Bakery in East Glacier Park, MT. You can also get one of their equally famous "Pie for Strength" T-shirts at Old Goat in East Glacier. We are very happy campers! read more

Worst disappointment of our trip to Glacier in July. Lonely Planet raved about their pie and called it a must-do, so we stopped in. Couldn't get menus from the waitress, had to ask for the table to be wiped, then for silverware, They only had 2 kinds of pier and they cost $8.50 - EIGHT-FIFTY - a slice!!! The crust was like cardboard and the filling very ordinary. A complete rip-off; maybe because of the LP review they don't have to try. This place might be OK for a hearty breakfast - the other patrons' portions looked big - but don't make a special point, and DON'T ORDER THE PIE! read more

How can you not stop at a place where "Pie For Strenght" is their motto. There are some seriously good homemade pies here. I also love the local, non corporate atmosphere. You should eat here rather than at one of the restaurants in the park. Even if you are not hungry, you must stop here for pie, take it to go. You wont be disappointed. read more

Great food, had the nachos and a burger. Burgers are good, as they should always be, and the nachos were addictive. I couldn't stop eating the nachos. They didn't even have nacho sauce on it, just regular cheddar. The chips were excellent along with the meat and veggies. Probably would have been better if the cheese wasn't melted, i could feel the calorie burn trying the break the chips apart. Loved it and had a hard time stopping. Also tried the desserts, yum. Had the Huckleberry and the Strawberry Rhubarb. I am not a fan of Juckleberries or even cooked Blueberries, they are mild in taste and not my favorite but, this was a good way to taste them. I enjoyed myself. The Strawberry Rhubarb on the other hand...., just like Grandma use to make them. A little sweet and a little tang together just fighting to mess with your tastebuds, a perfect shock to the system to make you fall in love with it. I do see the other comments with the servers being a little off, the only thing missing was a smoke cloud above them, oh well, worth the troubles. We made a point to come here while we were in the area because we heard the pie was good. However we almost left before that because the service was terrible. It took forever to get waited on, and then we waited forever to get our food (we were there for late lunch about 1:30) much less drink refills... and we could see our food sitting under heat lamps! We were camping in Glacier National Park and needed to do laundry in St. Mary, so we were looking for a good place to eat. This place sounded good, and apparently everyone else thinks so too. At 9pm this place was packed! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but it was worth the wait. The food was delicious and the services were plentiful. They are known for their pies, so we got a slice of pie to-go and it was also fantastic. Service was a tad slow, which was to be expected on this busy summer evening. read more

After already being starving from a day driving in Glacier, we figured this place would give us a good chance to refuel. We were wrong; the service was clumsy, slow, and forgetful. The food was even worse. Over priced salad with mixed greens so wilted they were falling apart into mush on my plate. "Smoked" meats tasted like nothing more special than diced lunch meat, and I found myself paying $12 for a few bacon crumbles because they were the only thing in the salad I wanted to eat. After reading about this being one of the places to go, we went for breakfast when staying at St Mary Lodge. I knew there would be a wait, which wasn't a big deal, but I was expecting really good home cooking. We waited about 30 minutes and don't get me wrong, it's a good choice for breakfast, but is it good enough that I'd wait that long again, no. Service is pretty fast and not particularly friendly, food doesn't necessarily come fast, but fast enough - and they do say something about 'good food takes time'. I ordered the big hiker, or whatever it was called, breakfast sandwich type of thing. It was a good portion of food, but while it was fine, wasn't anything great. My husband had eggs and bacon and really liked the eggs. Again, fine place to come when you're in the area as there aren't a whole lot of choices, but I didn't feel it was worth the wait. read more
