Went there as a first time patient, and was disappointed at how little time was spent getting to know me and my needs. I have previously been diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition and mentioned that to Dr. Friedland, who seemed unconcerned. Upon checking out, I could see into the office manager's office and was dismayed by the apparent disorganization...stacks of paper everywhere. Horrible!!!! Do not go. 2 doctors including Dr. Friedland could not get a reading glass's prescription right. When we complained they reminded me that I still owe the co-pay. We finally went to Target, who easily got the right prescription refracted. We paid out of pocket, but it was worth. They are idiots at Park ophthalmology, the doctors and the staff!!! read more

Dr Friedland has been my ophthalmologist for 10 years. She is extremely knowledgeable (graduated from Stanford) and caring. She also cares for my husband. She has many admiring patients. The office is often full and, although she would like to chat, her time is limited. I believe she is seeking a second physician to share the workload. She's an outstanding physician!! read more

I want to warn applicants about Park Ophthalmology located at 5306 NC Hwy 55, Durham NC 27713. I received a call about a month ago from Jenny Wittman, the office manager about a position with the company. She told me she received my resume from my school and she gave me a phone interview at that time for a receptionist position. She stated she was going over my resume and she wanted me to come in for a one on one interview with her. She told me that was the next step and I agree to come in. Once I was there we had the interview in the back room and when we finished I even asked for the job. She laughed and told me that she had a few other applicants to interview and she would contact me if we needed to go further. Jenny also invited me back to shallow with one of the other employee to know what the job duties were and during that time she showed me what the other employees were wearing, which were the grape, purple color scrubs. She stated at that time that she knew I was probably scrap for money, but said the scrubs weren't that expensive. I didn't get offended by her saying that because most students are scrap for money. I told her that it would be no problem and I will try and get the scrub, and she told me to come in that Friday because that was a down time for them and I could learn more at that time and the person I will be with will have more time to show me things that I would need to know. Well after I had a few hours to shallow she talked with me and asked me if I felt comfortable with the job and I told her yes I did. She then told me that the next step would be to come in and speak with the doctor and she told me that she will be in touch with me. I was so excited that after leaving the job I told my mom I felt good about that job, plus realize if Jenny Wittman wasn't interested in me then she would have told me at that time, but she led me to believe differently. A few days ago my career advisor from my school called and told me about a position with Park Ophthalmology and I told her that I had interviewed with them for that same position a month ago. She told me that this was a new position and to contact her and introduce myself. I did and I spoke with Jenny Wittman again. I introduced myself to her and she called out my name and said I remember you. I said that was great, and verified I did interviewed with her concerning another position and before I could finished she cut me off and said, "yes I remember you and if I recalled you came in to shallow." "I replied to her, "yes I did," and before I could finished speaking she cut me off and said to me, "you weren't "suitable" for our company then and your are not "suitable" now. Well I was confused by then and was wondering what did I say wrong to this lady. She went on to say, "yes and if I recalled you came in wearing scrubs and nobody told you to do that." Well I could have fell to the floor and at this point I no longer wanted the job at Park Ophthalmology because now Park Ophthalmology was not "suitable" for me. I still had to ask her what was "suitable" to her. "She then stumble around for words and then she said, "we you know, we are looking for someone with more experience and you don't have that." I said to her, "well in my defense I do have experience in the medical field," and before I could finished she cut me off again and said with a smirk, "well yea ten years ago." I was left holding my tongue because that was so insulting. I said to her, "you know what, only a person like yourself would see that as something negative. I said to her, "my last job was in 2013 and I had to resign because I had to have open heart surgery, at that time while out of work I took the liberty to continue my education and got my diploma in Medical Coding and Billing. As far as the scrubs, you did suggest it, and I hurried out to get them so I could show up and shallow in uniform like the others." Again she cut me off and said, "yea but nobody told you to." I went on to tell her, "If I was an employer and an applicant showed up in uniform that to me would have impressed me and showed me that this person is ready to work, but only her and her kind would see it as completely negative." I no longer had words for her because the whole time I was talking she kept saying over and over again, "yea nobody told you to." I then hung up the phone in her face and called the school and told them what she did to me and they were just as surprised as I was. I even posted this on their Facebook page and instead of an apology they hurried and removed it and the rating as well. Well shame on you Jenny Wittman, shame on you. My only regret was I had to face that and the little self-esteem I had built back up you tried to take it down, but I am here to say the devil is a lie. I can only keep praying for all you Jenny Wittman of the world, shame on you because I would have been the employee you wanted. Peace and Love! read more

The people at Park Ophthalmology are not idiots! Dr. Friedland is awesome and has treated my glaucoma for over 3 years. She is thorough, friendly, and very knowledgable. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any of my friends. read more
