Park Place Optometry is my family's go to for our eye needs. We drive all the way from Eagle Rock area because of the eye wear selection and especially for the service. Dr. Tran and his staff always takes care of us even at a moments notice. I'm new to wearing eye glasses and lost my glasses I wear on a daily now and he was able to see me the next day. The front end staff is very polite and very patient. Their collection is so extensive you can spend a whole day in there trying on all types of frames. Dr. Tran is very polite, we'll experienced, patient, and really cares about his patients. Even if they love another hour away, we'll still make the drive out. Thanks guys! read more

I am beyond shocked that this place has 4 stars. I cannot believe this is an operating business. I decided to go here because of the good reviews and completely regret it. First off, the receptionist has no idea what she is doing. We had booked appointments towards the end of the year. When we met with Dr. Tran he went on about how its not good to book last minute before the end of the year. He proceeded to go into detail and compared it to going to a restaurant and having your food spat on. ...Really? After Dr. Tran examined my fiance, He told him that he had droopy eyes and that he will need to get cosmetic surgery to lift his eyes up in the future. WTF? We came here for an eye exam not a cosmetic consultation. He went on about how his skin will get saggy around his eye area and will need to get a face lift. At this point, I just wanted to leave. I called the very next day and canceled my appointment. Dr. Tran had the audacity to ask me why and if I was going to another optometrist. To this day, I think back and still can't believe what I had experienced. Dr. Tran was extremely unprofessional and condescending. Definitely needs to work on his customer service skills. read more

I'm so grateful for being under Dr. Tran's care for 15-20 years now. It's been so long, i can't even remember exactly when i started going to Dr. Tran! What i do know is that Dr. Tran has always: 1) provided thorough and professional care of my eye health 2) been extremely prompt and responsive to all my urgent needs 3) been very clear in explaining my vision changes throughout the years, as well as my insurance coverage. This is why i followed Dr. Tran when he moved offices awhile back, and why i recommended him to my husband and friends. My last urgent issue was about a month and a half ago and Dr. Tran called me back himself just minutes after i left a long winded message. He talked me through my issue and made sure i understood next steps as well as various options and their pros and cons. And also followed up with me soon after. Late Saturday night around 3 am, my contact broke in my right eye. I struggled to find the broken pieces for 15 minutes until I successfully took out 2 pieces. I thought my troubles were over but my eye was still very uncomfortable. It felt as though a little piece of contact lenses was scratching at the center of my eye. I tried to ignore the discomfort and pain. When i tried to look out my right way the it was a blur! Hours past as i try to ignore the pain and sleep through it. I was begging the lord to save me from this pain in my eye!! Even when my eye was still, closed, i would be in uncontrollable pain. I couldn't stop tearing up for 4 hours straight. Finally around 9am I couldn't bare the excruciating pain no longer. I went on yelp and saw most of the Optometry stores were closed since it was a Sunday morning. I saw Park Place was the only places open but was a bit far from where i lived (approximately 30 minutes away). I called in before to confirm there was a qualified doctor to examine my eye. The doctor picked up the phone and told me the office was closed today but I should come by bc i sounds like I'm in much pain. Luckily he was there cleaning up. Since i was in so much pain, i couldn't open my right eye at all without extreme pain. The pain was so horrendous, opening my left eye made my right eye in pain. So i decided to Uber to Park Place since i wasn't capable of driving myself. I got to Park Place Optometry and the doc took great care of me. He gave me his number and told me to contact him whenever I need. Prescribe my the medicine i needed for my recovery and explained everything so i couldn't heal asap! Also wrote me a doctors note to explain to all my professors my situation. I felt like i was in good hands as tho it was my uncle caring for me. Thank you doctor!! He is a great guy! The doctor and his assistants were very accommodating even though I had no appointment. The office was very busy with their appointments but they squeezed me in as soon as they could. They have so many frames. I chose a pair of Tom Ford glasses and they were able to cut lenses in 15 minutes. I also bought a pair of Gucci sunglasses but they were too busy with their patients to do the lenses that morning. They told me that Gucci prescription sunglasses will be ready the next day. They were very efficient and actually called me the next morning to pick up. I love this office. They are friendly, professional, and easy going. I will definitely come back. I should make an appointment in advance the next time instead of just walking in. Like all yelp reviews, go see this office for yourself to see if they are 1 or 5 stars. read more

Love this place! Been going here for many many years. I ended up getting a bacterial infection in my eye and he took me in immediately. Diagnosed me and provided me with medication. He even checked on me afterwards. Love the personable touch. Covid has hit hunk hard with hardly employees but his spirits are still high and that id what I appreciate ! read more

I am over 50 years old. I was nearsighted since I was 20 years old. I went through many optometrists throughout my life annually. I have never seen an office that took digital pictures inside my eyes and saved them for future monitoring on the condition of my eyes. This clinic has great equipment. I also never heard of there were cholesterol in my eyes. The doctor here is really knowledgeable. He saw that and informed me. At other places, the doctor only gets closed to my face and observed. They did not have any solid record keeping. I will continue to go to Park Place yearly so I can see the comparison of my eyes on the monitor from my personal data that he keeps on my file. read more

I would give this place no stars if Yelp would let me. 1. They tried to charge me for a secondary contact fitting even though I was just reordering my contacts. My VSP insurance had to call them and tell them they were incorrectly charging their customers 2. They handed me the wrong prescription contacts 3. When I went back to pick up the correct contacts, no one said sorry or apologized for the inconvenience It is not that difficult to give decent customer service; smile and get things right. read more

Dr. Tran is so knowledgeable, patient, and listens. He is an amazing doctor and it is always a pleasure to get my exams at his clinic. He is so respectful and understanding of my needs and that of my family's. He is no nonsense and very timely with his work. He also offers such a wide variety of lenses both designer and generic brands. I still haven't gone to another optometrist since seeing him, although I do wish he was still at the Irvine location and I was bummed when he moved, he is still super close, and less than 10 minutes from the last location. I agree with most of the posts here regarding the doctor and his staff. I needed to find a new optometrist because of my vision plan with my employer. I chose Park Place because it is walking distance away from where I live. The staff there are rude and are not friendly at all. The doctor does seem to work like a salesman and I felt like I was being ripped off even considering what my vision coverage would pay. It was like they were trying to get money out of my wallet in any which way they could. I made one purchase there and haven't been back since. I now know that I will not locate a provider because it's convenient for me. I will never do business with them again. read more

I had my eyes checked and spent over $1500 here several years ago on eyeglasses and came back in for a quote on replacing my Maui Jim prescription lenses. After making me feel as though I was interrupting their afternoon, the price came back $200 higher than another optical shop for the same lenses. Run! Dr. Tran is a dedicated doctor, he wants the best for his patients and it really shows. I just recently had an issue receiving my contacts from 1800 contacts because they shipped the wrong shipment... when they called to verify my prescription, Dr. Tran called me... he let me know he would match the price I was paying and would even stay late on a Friday evening to ensure I had my contacts the same day. I've been a long time customer of Park place optometry since their right by my office. These guys have been so accomodating and always find ways to get me the best deals especially if you have VSP. They are very quick and efficienct about what they do and will get you in and right out if you have an exam. The only bad thing is trying to find parking... it's a beeeotch! read more

I'll agree with all of the reviews on this one. I go here cause it's near my work and they're open fairly late. I've never thought the people who work there were overly friendly, like going out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The doctor obviously knows what he's doing, but he does rush you in and out without really asking you any questions about your preferences. For instance, he told me he was changing my contact brand -- he didn't ASK me if I'd like to. Then he put in an order for my contacts without asking me how many I was going to buy. But if you like speed when it comes to getting your eyes examined, you will have nothing to complain about here. I always reach for my purse after my eye exam and the doctor says, "Pay when you come back to pick up your contacts." And I've never had a problem making an appointment. Easy peezy. read more

Just had an eye exam with Dr. Tran today and I am so glad that I chose Dr. Tran as my OD. I originally had an appointment at 11:15, but Dr. Tran was able to squeeze me in earlier today. I thought that the gesture was extremely accommodating considering that most physicians are not flexible with their schedule at all. Throughout the entire exam, Dr. Tran was very informative. Since I was his new patient and I bombarded him with a million questions, he really took the time to explain to me the different types of machines as well as the types of exams that I was subject to. By the time we were done with my eye exam, it was sufficient to say that I was more than happy in my decision to choose Dr. Tran as my OD. The best part about this visit is that he did not at any time try to talk me into buying anything that I did not need. He just focused on what I wanted as a client/patient and helped me find the perfect type of lens that was within my means. Chantelle, his assistant, was also very patient with helping me find the frames suitable for my face. In my brief visit, Dr. Tran demonstrated to me that he is a professional that I can trust, and I am so glad that he's my primary OD. read more

Dr Tran is great! Called in and requested a last minute appointment due to some irritation in my eye, wanted to make sure it wasn't a serious infection or anything. He was able to see me immediately. Not sure why it has taken me so long to review park place op. I have been coming here for 8 years maybe more. Dr tran is amazing. He is kind and trusting. When ever I am in a bind he is there. Over the years he has went out of his way to help me. I needed spare contacts before trips and he has always helped me. Either taking them to his other location or waiting for me after hours. He comes off high energy but it is because he cares so much. I can say I have seen him care for first time patients the same manner as he does me. I referred about 3 friends here and they still go to him. His staff can be hit or miss but dr tran is just top notch. He even let's me text him. I think Dr. Tran is super nice and friendly. However when it comes to his front office staff, I think he needs new receptionists. I called to make an appointment for contacts and the girl said it was $49. I made it a point that it was only going to be $49 and nothing more since my insurance only covered up to $50. She said yes. I asked her to check my benefits to make sure and she said she'd do it and tried to rush me off the phone; that would be fine but I just got insurance and when I tried to give her my ID# she said she already had it in my file.... UHH!! I didn't tell her what insurance i had nor did I ever have insurance before (I always paid cash) so where the hell was she getting this information from!!?? Anyway, i asked her "do you want me to give you my ID# to call?" and she hesitantly said "yes" with a sigh.. I wasn't surprised when she didn't call Blue Cross. When I came to my appt, i gave her my insurance card and she said she'd call. She comes to me ten minutes later and gives me completely wrong information and I told her what it was supposed to be and she called again and verified it. Go figure.. Come after my appointment, she says I owe $50. $49 for the exam and $50 for the fitting. WHAT! she said it was a flat $49!! This was the first time i heard about the fitting fee!! bullshit! This is why I gave him 4 stars instead of 3. I told him what had happened and he waived the $50 fee!!! Awesome! And he told me to look around on the internet for contacts pricing as he will do his best to match the price. That is way cool!! Overall, I like Dr. Tran and his office. He was super nice to me 10 years ago when I first tried contacts and he is still very helpful. Dr. Tran is what you want in an eye doctor. Professional, concise, and and has a lot variety in beautiful frames or knowledge in different contact lenses suited for your eyes. He works in a timely manner and gets you on your way. His office is in the same plaza as Ruth Chris. Came in for a quick exam. I got referred here and came in for the first time. The doc was pretty straight forward with me, clear communication, and helped me understand my eye problems. Wasn't pushy at all and even gave me a slight discount. I'm happy with the service and would come back. Normal prices, I'd recommend this place. I didn't have to wait long, but if you do, theres nice seating out side for people eating outside and a Starbucks in the same lot. read more

I went to this place for the first time and it was a good visit. The doctor is very considerate and knows how to deal with patients professionally. The staff is super super friendly honestly. especially the one on the computer she helped me a lot ( my apologies for not remembering her name ) and they offer several offers to make your experience more convenient and totally enjoyable. They got a good discount on all brands, so many good designers lines like: Tom Ford, Gucci, Tiffany&Co, Roberto Cavali, and many more. The discount is 20% The location of that optometry is so convenient, it's right next to my favorite Starbucks branch ever. read more

Horrible customer service. This person is rude and careless. I took my son in August for a new pair of glasses, he checked his eyes and asked rushed me choose a pair,then he said new pair will take two months to arrive because of his insurance. He asked to be texted so I texted a few times to give me an update but no response whatsoever even I explained my special needs son is using broken, taped glasses. After 70 days he charged our insurance but we haven't received glasses yet and no explanation but blaming the insurance company, finally we decided to call his number, i asked some explanation but he ended up responding very rudely and even yelling. I had a really great experience at Dr Tran's optometry office. I've never been given the important information he gave me about my eyes. Not only did he take the time but his office staff as well.
