I've gone to Park Slope Tanning for several Versa spa tans. As one of the other reviews says, there is something wrong with their Versa spa. My most recent tan showed no color. I also had no spray tan smell, which made me suspicious that I was sprayed with just air and not actual tanner... I left a message with someone at the spa over the phone, sent an email, and sent a message on Instagram, and nobody ever got back to me. This is incredibly disappointing since this location is literally a half a mile from my house. read more

I had a bad experience here despite the rave reviews. I had an airbrush tan but the technician missed a large area at the top of my legs. I had to go back the next day to get it fixed which was very inconvenient. They didn't provide disposable thongs so you have no choice but to go commando, which is unacceptable. When I asked for them the woman said "oh we should probably get some because three people asked for them today" - I spoke to the owner of the place to complain and explain that it was not normal to not offer this as every salon I've been to has. He was pretty much dismissive of my concerns, said it's not something they offer because they have lots of salons in NYC and basically did not take onboard any feedback. Loved it. First spray tan. Janellie was so helpful. She gave suggestions and was on point. She set me up in the booth and reviewed the instructions thoroughly. Update on my last review. The girl at the front desk is very sweet, polite and super helpful. She recommended me lotion for which I will be coming back and using in the future. 5 stars for her. After checking in with the front desk, I was sent to the room all the way in the back for a stand up tanning bed, level 2. Tanning itself was good, I did develop nice tan afterwords. However, the room itself left a lot to desire. There were boxes in the room where I was tanning with "garbage" put on them". No table, no mirror, and there was some paper (receipt of some sort) flopping when tanning bed/fan was on. All in all, I will be coming back, since I like the front desk, and it's convenient for me to come there. I will be avoiding that room. read more

Big fan of PS Tanning. I like the new ownership and they've been great with the COVID situation. It is clean and I rarely see anyone in there besides myself and the receptionist. They have relatively good prices (still expensive IMO but also realize it is NYC!). They do have some good deals with Sunday free tans with the lotion pack. If I needed to tan more and if it was closer to my apartment (about a 25 minute walk), I'd go more! read more

The staff was incredibly nice and I can't speak for the tanning beds but the VersaSpa sunless tan here just... doesn't work? The first time I went, I made sure to exfoliate well and shave everything. I got the level 1 or whatever for lighter skin tones. I didn't shower for 12 hours, didn't work out, didn't sweat much, etc. And the tan just never showed. I went again a few weeks later, this time watching some videos about how to properly prepare for Versa, thinking maybe I prepped incorrectly (I hadn't.) I asked if they had the primer that apparently helps it adhere but they did not. Got the 2nd level darkness this time, made extra sure to follow the instructions, and again the tan just didn't show. Today I got a MysticTan elsewhere and, as it had in the past, developed after a few hours and now I am nice and bronzed. Not sure if it's PS Tanning or Versa or what, but I would not recommend to go for sunless tans. read more

Two weeks after our trip to Miami, I was craving some UV rays and my tan was beginning to fade. After some general city tanning research, I opted for Park Slope Tanning because the prices were right, I love the area and it's only steps away from one of my guilty pleasure favorite stores. I walk up the stairs ready to tan and be educated on their packages and prices. Presented with a wide range and variety of beds and package costs, I opted for a 5 pack of level 4 tans to really accent my summer glow. The girl behind the desk was quick to sell but not at all helpful with questions about lotions or even suggesting an appropriate amount of tan time. This visit I opted to upgrade to a level 5 bed because it was open not understanding how intense the bulbs were. I opted for a long period of time in the bed and instead of suggesting an appropriate tanning time for me based on my color, the desk girl mildly questioned me asking if I was sure I could handle it and only after I came out said something about the beds intensity and time length. It may not be policy to make appropriate tanning suggestions to customers. It may not even be lawfully required but it sure is professional. This particular employee was really the pits. That said, the beds are nice and outfitted with new bulbs and the facilities are just ok. Free tans on Sundays with the purchase of a lotion packet. 2 free tans with a yelp check in and coupons on their site. read more

This tanning salon is definitely Brooklyn's best. Who knew a tanning salon in park slope would have such high end equipment with much lower prices then any of the previous salons I use to go to. They have 6 levels of UV tanning beds, spray tanning, and airbrush tanning. I use the level 6 bed , which is the Matrix. This bed is the so called best tanning bed in the world and it NEVER burns you and is great for all skin types. . I go in for the full time every visit and love the results. The customer service is great but the place cleanliness gets a 4 out of 5. Free tanning every Sunday on any level bed and tons of specials on their website. read more

Pros: 1. Clean. There's also eye goggles for you to use, and they're sanitized. 2. Leah, the girl working at the front when I went, was very helpful and sweet. She talked to me about my concerns (mainly freckling) and helped me figure out the cheapest deal I could get. She spent a lot of time talking to me, was great all around. 3. Staff in general is very helpful and attentive. I have no basis for comparison for tanning salons in New York City, but I'd say that in general, the customer service here is better than that just about all other places I've been in the city (mostly Manhattan.) Cons: 1. Website coupon is misleading. Sure, tanning on Sundays is free, if you buy a package first. I tend to like places that will let me try out the tanning for cheap the first time before I decide if I want to go there more regularly, but maybe that's just not how it works in New York. 2. No tanning lotions with SPF. Definitely helps me with the freckling, but they don't seem to have this anywhere in NYC--so I can't really hold it against this place. The owner was nice enough to buy me a bottle with SPF from CA, so I at least had that for several sessions. 3. Tanning packages have quick expiration dates. Package of 3 expires in a month. Once I'm already pretty tan, I like to space out my tans a little longer. read more

This place is WAY more expensive than what I was paying in Chicago for unlimited tanning, but that must be because this is NYC (Park Slope specifically). I heart this place and think it's well worth the cost because I get taken care of well there: they keep my lotion labeled with my name behind the counter so that I never have to carry it around with me, they always have sanitized goggles (something else I never have to carry around with me), and I have never had to wait more than a couple minutes for the bed that I want. Schlomo is an awesome laid back dude. One suggestion: they need to do some repairs in the bathroom. Everything else is clean and up to date and runs smoothly. read more

DO NOT COME HERE- thieves! This place has literally robbed me of money. They promise you certain months/amount of tans and you pay upfront but when you go to redeem these tans nothing is documented of what you bought and they expect you to purchase again (oh one more tan and I'll extend your package... lies). I typically go every now and then before a vacation, etc. and you would think with the decrease of tanning in general they would value long lasting customers- but no. They lied to my face and stole from me. There is a new manager who clearly does not respect or appreciate his customers or an honest business plan in general (as of 10/1/18). To be honest, I should have stopped going long ago- I've been harassed by employees, been stood up by the spray tanner (multiple times), and come before work when they open (at 10, which yelp and all signs confirm) to wait over an hour for them to actually open their doors. If you do come here make sure you look at screen after purchasing and ensure the amount of tans and notes are correct or they will take advantage of you. read more

The worst experience ever. Burned my skin with level 4 tanning bed recommended by the receptionist. And the lamps are not evenly distributed-my back and chest are somewhat ok, but stomach down I'm completely burnt. I just called to see what's up and the same guy got very ghetto with me and basically told me to fuck off and that he never recommended me anything. I am furious. 5 across the board !! I went in for an airbrush tanning spray and came out looking bronze! Staff was very professional and knowledgeable and made me feel really comfortable. I will definitely be back for another airbrush spray especially during the winter season. I also went to pay for my tanning and the worker reminded me that I had a UV spray session in the system that I bought from groupon months ago to use anytime. As a follow-up, I had bought a pack of sessions but was then told my few remaining visits had expired. Like yogurt. I didn't know tanning beds were so quick to expire. Or that electricity was vanishing. But yes, i seems a number of the sessions offered here will vanish pretty quickly. I can appreciate not wanting to carry dept/obligations into the next fiscal year, but there's no reason to penalize people for not getting some rays when it's snowing out. read more
