A single room became available and our family decided to move our aunt. Clearwater was told on a Friday at noon we would move our aunt on Tuesday. When we arrived Tuesday morning to move our aunt, there were no rooms keys for her room. Staff said they would work on getting keys made. Despite checking several times throughout the day for keys, no keys were available. This meant my aunt had to find leave her room unlocked when leaving her room and go find staff to lock her room. I contacted Clearwater the next day, Wednesday, and still no keys had been made. One excuse is that the person who makes/has access to keys was on vacation. (No one person should be in control of all room keys in a senior assisted living and memory care facility.) I went out of town for a couple of days. When I went by Saturday morning, 4 days after my aunt moved to her new room, no keys had been made. When I spoke with staff, I reiterated it was unacceptable. I also told them I would be writing a review and contacting their corporate office. Within an hour, keys were made and the problem was rectified. Clearwater was given four days notice my aunt was moving to a room that had been unoccupied for several days or more. Even after moving, it took four days and my stating I was going to contact their corporate offices to get keys made for her room. Unacceptable.

Working with Joel the administrator was great, he had great referrals, kind workers and the place was kept in great condition. This place kept my mom alive for the last 4 years with dementia, up until we had to put her on hospice care which she past away in the home. Don't get me wrong it takes a team effort to keep a person alive and strong in the senior care industry and most people think that they pay for care and are hands off after that, as it should run on its own. You have to be involved in every aspect of your loved ones senior care right until the end and Family Home gave me peace of mind that my mom was taken care of.

I am beyond furious with the Regency Grand at West Covina…read more My mother-in-law lived there for 15 years. Fifteen years. She and my father-in-law spent six of those years together in the same assisted living apartment. The staff and management knew them well. We believed she was part of a community. We trusted that she was cared for. After my father-in-law passed in 2017, everything changed. With new ownership and management came a noticeable decline -- fewer gatherings, fewer thoughtful touches, and a clear shift away from the residents who had built that community. The warmth disappeared. The effort disappeared. The food declined significantly. We dined with her often and eventually began taking her out because meals there were so poor. Over the past year, she lost 35-40 pounds. She was not able to tell us about the food because she had a stroke many years before and could not speak. We later learned she wasn't eating -- and no one alerted us. No one noticed. Or if they did, they failed to act. That is inexcusable. After 15 years in the same apartment, her unit was never properly updated. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom cabinetry was falling apart. The space looked worn down and neglected. For two years, we were repeatedly told renovations were coming. They never happened. Then, after Christmas, she became ill and passed away 20 days later. She spent her final three days on hospice in the very place she had called home for a decade and a half. In those last days, only three staff or management members came to see her. Three. After 15 years. We did hear one staff member comment that she was sad she would no longer get clothes from my MIL (who was always very generous). After her passing, there was no card from the Regency management. No condolences. No acknowledgment to my husband, who had just lost his mother. They once posted notices honoring residents who passed. This time -- nothing. We did everything we could to give her a life filled with dignity and love. We trusted Regency to do the same within their walls. They did not. This is more than disappointment. It is heartbreak -- and a profound sense of betrayal.

My Mother -in - Law who had Dementia and was hard to take care off. We tried to take Care of her for almost 2 years but her Dementia got worse with her mood swings from anger and paranoid behavior. We hired help people who worked with disabled and Dementia people and installed cameras through the whole house to record everything. We used online and hands on Doctors care( Kasier gives you face to face online appointments as well sending pictures to your doctor for any reasons to get evaluated.) We document Daily, weekly and monthly habits of my Mother-in-law which was required by Med-cal. But because Dementia is a disease of the brain and the behavior and moods gets worse becomes harder to care for someone with this disease, it's becomes the hardest at night. My mother-in-law didn't sleep, always waking up 3 to 6 times a night and would not sleep. When we moved her to this loving place that gave 24 hours care and it had a graveyard shift that recorded everything. It worked with Kasier Doctors, working with her needs with her own Doctor from Kasier and the Kasier palliative Doctor also, that would visit her with a nurse. This place was down the street so we can visit everyday when my husband got off work and even get the updates. This place would call us and give us updates per text also, It also has cameras everywhere to record everything. We knew this was a good place because we did our homework ( research) we call and checked and reviewed 5 to 6 places before we picked this place. I talked to other people who had their loved ones at this place. I also checked if there were any complaints with Government website for inspections review. Med-cal and Medicare complaint board. Because we had conservative-ship over her health our attorney told us to get outside independent inspection review to make sure this was the right place for her. So we did and paid a professional that is used by the Los Angeles Courts. The professional gave the approval sent a copy to us and a copy to this place to show this was a good place for my Mother-in-Law and very clean. The facility is always clean, doesn't have that overwhelming "nursing home" feel or stinky smell, and my dad actually enjoys the food and he's super picky, which honestly surprised us. We're thankful for the care my dad receives every day and truly appreciate everything the team does for him. Kudos to you guys!
