If you ask questions about their policies, she gets nasty. She will say whatever she has to for your money and will lie to your face. Horrible experience. I feel sorry for their older patients who wouldn't be able to complain or post a review themselves.

We were in need of 24 hour care and between 2 caregivers, Raul and Jim, my Grandfather was in great hands. These two men were amazing. They took such great care of him up until his final moments of life. He grew a bond with each of them and we will be forever grateful for their time, care and compassion. It's terrible to have to see a loved one get dealt the terrible news my Grandfather was given and watch as they go down hill, but it helps so much to have that loved one surrounded by people who care for them with such compassion. I used to see Dr. Castellanos when I was a kid with my mom, roughly between the ages of…read more12-15(2004-2007). Now as an adult I've realized how horrendous of a doctor he was. Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.

I received a call from the front desk today 4/8/2026 after I left my office visit regarding an additional charge for my consult I had paid $120 because I chose to visit their office while my new insurance kicks in, and the way it was handled was completely unprofessional. Instead of clearly explaining the reason for the extra $80 cost, the staff member came across as demanding and dismissive--as if I was supposed to already know their internal policies. At no point during my visit was I informed that discussing my symptoms could turn the appointment into a higher-cost consult. What made matters worse was the tone of the conversation. It felt like I was being blamed for the appointment running longer, which is unfair. Patients rely on medical staff to guide the visit appropriately--it's not our responsibility to manage time or determine billing classifications. There also seems to be a lack of internal communication and organization. If expectations, pricing, and visit structure were clearly communicated upfront, situations like this could easily be avoided. I asked to speak to the office manager because, yes, I had every right to be upset. Instead of taking accountability , apologizing, I was met with defensiveness--and then banned. Banned for speaking up after being treated poorly, advocating for myself. That tells you everything you need to know about how this office handles concerns. There is a serious lack of communication, organization, and basic respect here. If expectations and pricing were explained upfront like they should be, none of this would have happened.

I had an opportunity to visit The Grove In Covina. I was extremely impressed by the warm pleasant atmosphere. The living room has such a glow of beautiful color. The dining, living quarters and all other areas of the facility are clean, safe, sanitary and very well organized. I also had the pleasure of meeting Lisa. She is a very caring, compassionate, loving and devoted to the care of each person who resides here. She made me feel welcomed like family and is only a phone call away should family members need her. The staff members are patient, kind and very attentive to each individuals care and needs. I am a visiting nurse and I visit my Patient daily at The Grove, which has nice comfortable rooms, fully equip family room with big screen Tv, comfortable recliners, along with a nice outdoor space and lovely decor, This home is very clean, and a very safe environment. They serve nutritional meals which is very important to help promote healing. The staff is very caring and attentive to the needs of their Residents. read more

She and my father-in-law spent six of those years together in the same assisted living apartment. The staff and management knew them well. We believed she was part of a community. We trusted that she was cared for. After my father-in-law passed in 2017, everything changed. With new ownership and management came a noticeable decline -- fewer gatherings, fewer thoughtful touches, and a clear shift away from the residents who had built that community. The warmth disappeared. The effort disappeared. The food declined significantly. We dined with her often and eventually began taking her out because meals there were so poor. Over the past year, she lost 35-40 pounds. She was not able to tell us about the food because she had a stroke many years before and could not speak. We later learned she wasn't eating -- and no one alerted us. No one noticed. Or if they did, they failed to act. That is inexcusable. After 15 years in the same apartment, her unit was never properly updated. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom cabinetry was falling apart. The space looked worn down and neglected. For two years, we were repeatedly told renovations were coming. They never happened. Then, after Christmas, she became ill and passed away 20 days later. She spent her final three days on hospice in the very place she had called home for a decade and a half. In those last days, only three staff or management members came to see her. Three. After 15 years. We did hear one staff member comment that she was sad she would no longer get clothes from my MIL (who was always very generous). After her passing, there was no card from the Regency management. No condolences. No acknowledgment to my husband, who had just lost his mother. They once posted notices honoring residents who passed. This time -- nothing. We did everything we could to give her a life filled with dignity and love. We trusted Regency to do the same within their walls. They did not. This is more than disappointment. It is heartbreak -- and a profound sense of betrayal.

I was very attentive and meticulous about her care, always closely monitoring the quality of support she received. Beacon made sure they delivered consistent and compassionate care throughout her stay. My mom was transferred to Beacon in 2021 and spent the final chapter of her life at Beacon Healthcare Center. My mom passed away on January 4, 2025. Her assigned nurses at Beacon never failed to check on how she was doing. We had hoped she would recover, but God had other plans. Although, saying goodbye was one of the hardest experiences our family has ever faced, I am deeply grateful for the care and compassion she received. Like any healthcare facility, there were a few hiccups along the way. We had some concerns during her stay, but I appreciate that the staff listened to us and worked with our family to address them. Being able to communicate openly and come to a resolution meant a great deal during such a difficult time. The nurses, caregivers, and staff treated my mom with kindness, dignity, and respect. They made every effort to keep her comfortable and showed genuine compassion not only to her but also to our family. Their patience, comforting words, and support meant more than they probably realize. No place can take away the pain of losing someone you love, but knowing my mom was surrounded by caring people brought us peace during her final days. I truly appreciate everyone who played a role in her care and helped make a heartbreaking experience a little easier to bear. Special thank you to Nurse Tran, Ms. Cynthia, Ms. Gloria, Nurse Angelica, Nurse Angelo, Nurse Mary Ann, and Nurse Mary Rose for their dedication and compassion, especially during my mother's feeding times. Like many facilities, there appears to be a serious lack of urgency, compassion, and communication. My dad went approximately 15 hours without being provided water. On another occasion, he was left sitting in soiled clothing for over an hour and was expected to eat his meal before anyone assisted him. While visiting, I also witnessed another patient fall. The patient remained on the floor for approximately 20 minutes while several staff members stood around without providing immediate assistance. It was upsetting to witness. Communication among the staff has also been extremely poor. It often seems that no one knows what is happening or who is responsible for patient care, making it difficult for families to get answers or feel confident that their loved ones are receiving proper attention. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone looking for rehabilitation care for a loved one.
