I have taken my Forester to Park's two times now. The first time my engine was not running correctly. They traced the problem to the transmission and then drove it to the Subaru Dealer to find out what was happening. Long story short, Subaru has issues with this transmission but was not letting the public know about it. Ed, the mechanic at Parks, worked it out so that Subaru replaced my out-of-warranty transmission at no cost to me. Park's did not even charge for the diagnosis to discover the problem. Since then, I have replaced my front and back brakes and front control arms with them. This is an honest repair shop at reasonable prices. read more

I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY RECOMMEND Park's Transmission. The guys here are amazing and their professionalism is exceptional. They pay attention to detail and listen attentively and PATIENTLY to their clients. I had a very unfortunate issue with my little MB (my pride and joy although she is 15 years old) when the car stalled coming off Freeway 405 and then kept stalling on a regular basis. I took the car to my own Auto Service Mechanic but he said he couldn't help and that it should be taken to a Transmission Shop. So, I checked reviews and found Park's Transmissions as #1 in Long Beach (and rightfully so) and that is where I took my car in the hope that they could help me. I met Eddie and Steve who very kindly carried out a thorough check on my vehicle (for free I might add) only to confirm there was indeed a transmission issue and possible some other ones too. They recommended that I also take it to the local dealership to get a second opinion as well as a full diagnostic testing which I did. I went back to Eddie with the full test results (which confirmed the original Transmission and quite a few other issues). Luckily, I had purchased the extended Auto Insurance Package for my little car when I bought her three years ago as I had a feeling that if I had any big issues or repairs that the parts were going to be expensive. Anyway, Eddie reached out to the Insurance Company and they sent out an Inspector to test drive my car and give a report on their findings. For some reason, the report that this Inspector gave Eddie ended up being completely different to what the Insurance Company approved the next day for repairs. I was so disappointed as the required repairs were very costly and even having to just pay for some of them would mean a large out of pocket expense. Eddie reached out to the Insurance company and voiced his concerns over the conflicting reports and fought on my behalf to get a second Insurance inspector out to look at my car. Fortunately, this inspector was a lot more helpful and approved most of the repairs needed (which were then approved by the Insurance Company). I will always be grateful to Eddie for going the extra mile and fighting on my behalf. I was blown away when Park's Transmission did not charge me the deductible that I should have paid them as there is one job that I need to get done at a dealership (as the parts can only be supplied by them) and I will have to pay them the deductible for just one job whereas Eddie and his team did several jobs without charging me. I can also vouch that the work carried out by the Park's Transmission team is exceptional too and carried out in a timely manner. I was very impressed to get a follow-up text from Eddie the next day to check how my car was running. EDDIE, STEVE AND THE PARK'S TRANSMISSION TEAM REALLY DO GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. If you end up at a transmission shop, you don't have a happy story to tell. Mine involves the 605, rush hour traffic, and my beloved car suddenly stumbling when I pushed the throttle. After checking the transmission fluid and finding it full of glittering metal, I ended up at Park's Transmission. Steve and I talked about what was wrong with the car, and he agreed to try to help fix my car when I told him about the shiny metal in the transmission fluid. The next morning, he called with the news: my car needed transmission service, a fuel pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, and, if I wanted to know the truth, new shocks and struts. He quoted me a price that seemed fair, and I agreed. To my amazement, the work was done the next day. The car I picked up drives like it's brand new. Not only is the stuttering gone (probably a combination of nasty transmission fluid, leaking transmission pump seals, and old spark plugs), but the car is poised and quiet on the road. I had a very bad experience. They said they could repair the clutch of my Mercedes. I trusted them, but ultimately they could not do it. I gave them chance after chance to fix it, as they kept promising me they could. Countless days without a car, and lots of trips on the bus back-and-forth... So many days lost from work. I ultimately had to sue them in court. I won the case of course, but they appealed it. In Superior Court, they kept submitting continuances. This meant that I took a day off of work, got ready to go to court, but they had moved the date at the very very last minute. Fortunately there is a limit to how many times they can do this by law, but they took full advantage of trying to screw me by doing it to the max. Ultimately of course I won the case. I got my money back, but I guess they accomplish their goal... I probably spent more and lost more by the days of work I missed, etc. I was initially attracted to this place because the shop was extremely clean. I recommend this mechanic to anyone looking for super friendly, transparent, and trustworthy mechanics with very fair pricing! I went in for an oil change for my Honda and a car inspection to make sure everything was working as it should. I called to schedule an appointment and ask for a quote and that was the price I paid. When I arrived, they took my car before I could park it in their parking lot - a parking lot that fits many cars, and their shop is easily accessible from the main street without having to go through alleyways. The owner, Steve, was very friendly, welcoming and showed me where I could wait until my friend could pick me up. The oil change itself probably took about 15-30 minutes since they finished before I left, even though they were servicing other people's cars also. They also found an issue with my air conditioning system that was more than just the system needing to be recharged. The owner was clear about the problem and the work that would need to be done to fix it and asked if I would like to spend the extra time and money to let them fix it. I knew my AC wasn't turning on and their pricing was very reasonable so I gave them the go-ahead. They fixed it in one day and told me there were no other issues needing attention with my car. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience because they clearly explained the issue without treating me differently for my gender and patiently answered my questions so I could understand the problem. I no longer live in this area, but I will find excuses to drive close by so I can get my car serviced by them in the future. read more

LIFE SAVERS! My transmission went out and silly me took car to dealership! They wanted to charge me $7000 which is more than my car is worth! They also told me I needed a starter which was going to be another $900! I called Park's Transmission and Eddie answered the phone and little did I know he was going to save me! He gave me a quote of only $2800 and offered to go get my car from the dealership before I authorized any work.
