On Feb 7,2025, my Toyota Avalon wouldn't start and I was at work and with AAA towing, I used these guys since they were part of the AAA recommended shop. They replaced my starter, and charged me $659.57, which was high but was just glad to get it fixed. Today, 4/28/25, my car wouldn't start again and since I was at home I had it towed to my local mechanic. This time it was the starter again!! My mechanic said it was a used starter that was in poor shape. It lasted less than 3 months and these guys at KJ Lee's are crooks as far as I can tell. I was fine with the high price since that's what they do with AAA, but never again. I will pay the extra towing to tow to my mechanic who I trust. I have put in a complaint to AAA and hopefully these guys gets kicked out of AAA service recommended list. Oh yeah, also my mechanic replaced that crap starter with a new one for $325 read more

Oil change done - checked computer on Subaru Forester. I asked for a check of battery. Manager there and told me in his office "It was done". Three days later car would not start. AAA tow called. Tow truck driver said battery filthy. As I saw battery, tourquoise gunk covered a connection. George, tow driver had a brush to clean a piece he took off battery- scrubbed for a minute or so. Manager lied outright to me- battery not checked. I too asked for spare tire in trunk area to be checked. He poked his finger at it- saying tire was good. I cleared out earthquake supplies and put them in back seat. A long job for me. Tire was to be throughly checked. It was not. I watched him. I said "don't you pull it out?" He said no need to. Lazy? Incompetent? Greedy to get a customer to leave and get another in? The more money they get....the more money they want. Tow truck driver suggested large facilities where you could make complaints to corporate offices. Mark is head of employees. He has followed thru in the past. This manager in the front office does not bother to fully do what you ask. He does not confirm a job is done. And to just poke at a tire- just said "a lot"- like throwing a bone to a dog. Boomers have the money. Young customers and hot women, not always. Businesses might treat boomers (60-70) with respect and listen to them. I reported this place to auto club, as they referred me. My car AC was not working so I went to them. They change the owner and it is not mr Lee anymore. Previously I had to deal with Mr Lee and it was always very pleasant. Under mr Lee they even brought me back to my home while they work on my car. I don't live far. However this new management. When I first talked about the ac not working. The mechanic told me $110 to do the diagnostic. I felt it is over priced comparing to others in the area. I understand that they said they charge $110 per hour but the comparable garage charges $90/h. In addition they charged for changing my car AC hose $230 and labour $350. $580 total. They initially quoted $680. After I told them the competitor quoted $440 they gave me a discount of $100 which I appreciate. I feel it is a lot of hassle for getting a mediocre price and not so friendly service. I initially liked going there because they were always friendly. But if they are charging more than other people and almost as the same price as the dealer. Then I would prefer to go to the dealer. At least I can have free ride home or nice AC waiting room with coffee and snacks. Irony of the thing. My car was serviced by them on Friday and Saturday the car can't start.I dunno what the issue was and I had my neighbor jump start. I am absolutely disgusted with the service they're doing now with the supposed ownership change. I have never had an experience as bad as this. I walked in to buy a battery, asked for the price, and their reply was: It's too expensive for you. Is this seriously how a company is handled? This is the level of professionalism they offer? That reply is overboard offensive. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Spoke to local friends who frequent this mechanic shop. AAA suggested this shop when my fuel pump failure made me need a tow. I'm glad I found them. They fixed it really quickly. My car had been rear ended a couple weeks prior, and they were able to tell the damage was because of the accident. So they wrote a note so that it'll allow it to be covered by my insurance. Also, Lyft wasn't picking me up so when I called Mark to let him know, he dashed right over to get me. Saved me a 30 minute walk. It seems like a really good shop. read more

Very Kind People but they rip us off by over charging us on simple repair. They said they use All Data and they go by that info. After the repair is done I came home and log in my All Data account, the repair should only take 1.8 hours of labor for water pump replacement and they charge me 2.4 hours of labor. Got my front brake pads replaced and the rotors resurfaced. It was a straight forward transaction I called the owner and took my car in the same day. Love the fact that I did not have to wait. He gave me a direct quote of $175 before certain fees and tax. The total came out to $188 which is the price the dealer offered excluding fees and taxes. So far the work seems good since I don't hear any squeaking from the front brakes. The work took about an hour and a half which is much better than the dealer. The owner was friendly and straight forward with the price and work so I didn't feel like he's trying to up sell me on something I didn't need. read more

First I took my car to Osborne's in Redondo Beach. They said I'd have to make an appointment something like a week in advance. My car was squealing like crazy and the power steering was cutting out intermittently. I came on here and looked for the closest, best rated auto shop near where I live and came upon this place. I took my car there, was introduced to someone immediately, explained my problem and he said he'd look at it within the next hour. I had expected to have to leave it there for a day or something so I was very pleased. About an hour later he called me back and gave me a very detailed description of my problem and an explanation regarding how he would fix it. I asked that he rotate my tires as well. He replaced my power steering pump, changed my oil, replaced my timing belt and rotated my tires within 4-5 hours and I was able to pick my car up the same day. They were very up front about pricing and the tire rotation was done at no charge. It's only been a few days but my car has been running better than ever and the power steering has worked fantastically. I would absolutely recommend this place. I'll come back and edit this review if anything goes wrong but so far I feel like the only way they could improve is to do the work for free read more

Called him that evening, and he told me he could take care of it the next morning! Took the car in around 8AM, finished by 11AM. Got an oil change, front rotors and brake pads, and radiator cap replaced for about $330. Thanks again Mark! Before, I figured the dealerships would take care of my cars the best, but I discovered this was not the case. I would routinely run into mechanical issues that ended up costing me a small fortune to fix, even though I paid hundreds of dollars for their recommended tune-ups and such. After getting fed up with the constant repairs and what I believed to be unreasonable prices for the fixes, I decided to try something different. At first, I was questioning about this place (if they were good, reliable, honest, and just everything about them) little that you know it was pretty much a home run hit. It has almost been two years now, since I yelped them and I'm still coming to here for brakes, oil change, transmission, and pretty much everything now. As far as the basics go, you can't beat the fact that you can come by and not expect to be there for hours waiting for your car... (ie. Dealerships aka Stealerships) Their rates are great, service from both Mr. Lee and Daniel are great, and they seem to have many other customers who come to them for their automotive needs! NOTE: For those that work full-time and can't, or don't want to take time off of work to have your car maintained, they are open Saturdays for basically half the day, and from my experience... it's best to come as early as you can, as they do get busy. read more

I purchased a battery from k j lee automotives under mr lee when he was still the owner, I walk in here and I am greeted by a male which his name is mark I told him I bought this battery mark asked me what my name was he searched for me and finds only 1 thing I did with K.J. lee automotives which makes no sense because I have proof of many services I've done with them so a man stands next to me and I ask who is he apparently he is the owner Reynaldo which both have horrible customers service! I ask mark okay theirs no warranty found on battery how much does a battery cost me? Mark the manager respondes and says "too expensive" I respond what are you trying to say I can't afford a battery then mark says you know what I'm not selling you anything leave the shop both mark and Reynaldo disgusted me in their customer service as new owner they should try to find solution, both these guys will continue to loose customer do not take your car here because they are wiping out the warranties from their system! read more

I have never heard of this place but the tow truck driver said it was the closest place for my road service towing limit. Mark and the Owner were so helpful and reassuring. I went there to fix my breaks because they were very noisy and to fix a crack next to my front headlight. Not only did my brakes break down the same day, so the car had to be towed, but they are still noisy after being "fixed" 3 times. And my headlight fell out two different times after they "fixed" it and put it back in place. So my advice; do NOT go there if you want you car fixed properly! read more

This place is amazing. Found them on yelp. I drive a 2010 Camaro V8 so when my oil pressure valve went out I needed it fixed ASAP. I called Chevy to get it looked at and they gave me a rough estimate of about $300-$350. K&J got me in same day and out in about 2 hrs and changed me half that.
