Worse experience - do not take your pet there. Tech with attitude asks me if I am 'getting it' when she tells me to remove the bandage from my puppy and leave him without one after the vet said otherwise. When I asked to speak to the vet - the vet tells me I am being difficult (because they want to take my dog to the back and treat him there ) still with no shame charging $400 for treating his cut nail and putting a bandage on it. I guess they forgot that doctors and nurses are supposed to be KIND at the time of need. This is the 2nd issue I had with them - last time I was sent to VEG in Hoboken because they could not do anything. Not going back to this place. We've been going to EAH ever since we moved to NJ, every after we moved to Brooklyn, we still drove out to NJ to see Dr. Kim and his staff. When we had emergencies, we would call and EAH would always try to squeeze us in, and they always gave us tons of advice / answered any questions we had. The care our little guy gets is always top notch!. When we arrive at our appointment times we always get in super quick, do our thing and got out. EAH is reasonably priced, but def not on the low end. That's a good thing because having been to a couple of vets before coming here, I tell u, u def get what you pay for. She is in pain with a torn paw Her nail was caught on something which caused the injury. As a side note they are ridiculously over priced. Sad that an animal is caught in the middle of some sort of grudge. We took our beagle to Edgewater Animal hospital about 8 months ago and this is the review I wrote: "Very nice staff, but the sticker shock was, well, shocking. $400.00 for three vaccinations, a nail clip and expressing our dog's anal glands. Would like to go back but absolutely cannot afford it at these prices." End of review. Our dog started limping yesterday and we were worried about her. I called three other animal hospitals and couldn't get an appointment before I called Edgewater (see review above and you'll realize why) but I wanted our dog to be seen ASAP. When I gave the receptionist my name, she put me on hold, came back on the phone and said, "We've decided you're not a fit for us so we're denying you an appointment." To say that I was shocked is beyond an understatement. She told me I had given them a "bad review" and was no longer welcome. I and my husband were very polite to everyone at Edgewater General, but we didn't want 4 packages of this medicine they wanted to give our dog; we only wanted one, Our thought process was we wanted to see if it worked before we bought four packages of it. So, the receptionist wasn't thinking of our dog being in pain and needing treatment; being sympathetic and professional about owner and doctor coming together for the sake of the animal; she was thinking about the egos of the staff and the doctors. The only metaphor I could think of is what if I had a heart attack and the hospital refused to admit me because my annoying aunt had been the one who brought me to the hospital. Doctors swear the Hippocratic oath of "first, do no harm." In my opinion, the refusal of Edgewater to see my dog again because of a "bad" review (I still gave them three stars) is unconscionable. They're basically saying that they'll pick and choose for whom they'll provide healthcare and that is the first step towards something quite dangerous; at least that's how I see it. "Behave or we'll cut you off." Besides this wasn't even about behavior, it was about a mildly critical review. Does anyone know if a code of ethics exists for veterinarians and, if so, are there any clauses that allow denial of care for a wounded animal because the hospital disliked the owners due to a bad review? I find their "pick and choose" philosophy as to which animals they will treat, to be unethical, but I'd love to know if there's something in writing. read more

VERY BAD PLACE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! We have been going to this practice since we adopted our pup in fact, it was a recommendation from a friend, they might switch Dr.'s at some point over the years, the place smells like a wet dog, which is not typical for a vet's office, we had to wait for 40min to see the vet. Important to mention, the place was empty. We were the only ones waiting. When we finally made it into the room, he had inspected him for 30 seconds and shockingly, we were quoted $450 hundred dollars for just looking at him, our beloved pup got into a fight at the dog run and needed treatment. But the Dr. was in a rush to start the weekend (Our visit was on Sat at around 2 pm) and refused to give treatment. He insisted that our dog needed to be put under anesthesia and that we can only come back on Monday. What a joke of a Dr! We researched and found a vet about 10 miles away with an excellent reputation, we had a consultation, and they were able to treat us that day for under 200 dollars. No anesthesia. We were extremely disappointed with the outcome of Edgewater Animal Hospital they don't care about the health of your pet, only about money and to get more of it. If you care about your pet, be careful when choosing a vet! DON'T COME HERE! read more

I have had some poor experiences at this office after our initial puppy visit. In general I found Dr Kim to be unfriendly on two visits when our excited young puppy was brought in that certainly has a lot of energy, stating "can you please calm him down" in what I perceived as a condescending tone, not one of a friendly vet. I also had some issues getting lab results 2 times, the first time I understood things happen, but I actually went to the office and personally wrote down my phone number and still received no call or voicemail despite the office stating the contrary. One time our pup had diarrhea, was treated, and did not get any better (which is totally fine). We brought him back in and were given options for further testing for various GI/autoimmune conditions which ultimately ended up costing quite a lot of money (over 700 for the whole appt) and results were inconclusive and the dog was better a few days later regardless. While I did "choose" to have these tests performed, they were recommended as treatment options by the vet and a distressed pet owner will often do what the vet says. Recently my dog had an obvious eye infection and we brought him in for some antibiotic drops. The "recommended tests" included a dry eye test and a fluorscein stain as well. While they do discuss the tests they will perform before moving forward, to be honest I would feel like a cheapskate when they have their "plan" when I just want an examination and treatment, and if it doesn't get better then move on to further tests. He may rebut saying those were differentials on his diagnosis but in all practicality the dog had unilateral green eye discharge indicative of a classic eye infection. I feel like there was an algorithm of "eye complaint, suggest these tests" which in my opinion were unnecessary and turned what I estimated an inexpensive vet trip to turn into a more costly one. I was not going to even write a review till I tried a new vet and found the overall demeanor of the vet to be much more enthusiastic and an actual dog lover, as well as the pricing/treatment plans to be better and more reasonable. read more

I'm so grateful that we were able to find a great vet that we can bring our cat to. My cat had a weird lump on the side of his neck and started to shed abnormal amounts of fur, so immediately a red flag went off. I frantically searched for a vet, asking everyone I knew with pets where they took their dogs/cats. My parents and a couple of my friends recommended EAH so I decided to check them out. I read Dr. Kim's credentials online, and they were absolutely outstanding. With some fear and anxiety, I called them yesterday to make an appointment. The receptionist was so sweet and gave me sufficient information about their practice (where to park, where they're located, what to bring) as well as schedule me an appointment for the following day. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring Deandre to the vet since I was working, but thankfully my boyfriend had the day off. Dr. Kim offered to call me on the phone and explain treatment options, as well as the possible factors of his strange lump. I was able to hang up the phone with peace in my heart, and Dr. Kim said that he would give my boyfriend a financial breakdown of each treatment option before we proceeded. I've never been to the vet before, so I'm not sure what price point is considered high, but considering that we live in one of the most inflated areas of America, wouldn't it be a given for prices to be higher than they would be in Florida? They estimated for us to pay about $500-$550 depending on whether or not we need to send the culture slides to a lab to get examined. The nurse let us know that that is not likely, but to expect the highest price to be in that range. I'm grateful that they genuinely showed how much they care for Deandre. We went here for years and they were fine but I can no longer recommend this vet (which I have in the past many times). My dog was recently ill and they saw him, charged us $1300 for one visit that basically accomplished nothing and we were forced to take our poor baby to the ER at Blue Pearl. They are also not responsive on the phone and now today would not approve an eye drop from Chewy because they said he needed to be seen by the vet. Meanwhile he was there last week and the eye irritation was present and they didn't address it. I had recommended them to a neighbor awhile back and she recently told me she was appalled by the price they charged her while basically not addressing her dogs issue either. I have a 3 month old puppy and being an overprotective fur mom I checked a lot of places before choosing this one. After his appointment today I could not be happier with my choice not only is this the best costumer service I've ever received at a veterinarians office, but my puppy was also as happy as can be. He received 3 shots today which I was nervous about but not once did he feel scared or want to run out the door, not even a whimper when he received his shots . At the end of the visit we had to carry him out because he refused to leave. The doctor also very nicely and accurately answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable and genuinely cared about my dog. One is diabetic and we order special diabetes food there. At a certain point the staff called and told us not to worry that we could run out as they will always keep a case in stock for our kitty. The other cat has teeth that look a little like Dracula fangs. Another Vet said that the fangs eventually would be "pushed" out and we should better have them removed now (with a big surgery). That was 8 years ago and fangs are still there. That led us to Dr. Kim who luckily advised to absolutely not pulling healthy teeth! I wish I never brought my puppy to Edgewater Animal Hospital because their inappropriate treatment for his broken leg caused him lose two of his toes forever... My puppy broke his leg in May and went to ER at an animal hospital in Paramus. After that, I took him to Edgewater Animal hospital for the following three weeks for bandage change because of the close location to my home, which I regret so much. In the third week of bandage change, Dr. Kim told me that he found my puppy's right front paw having a severe skin infection, and asked me to bring my puppy to a larger animal hospital with surgeons. He said that he was not special at bone fracture treatment and had very few experience, so I better to consult a surgeon. If that's the case - you don't have enough experience in bone fracture, you should tell me at the very beginning. So I brought him back to the Animal Hospital in Paramus, for urgent treatment and went seeking opinions from surgeons. Over the next 3 weeks' treatment, my puppy partially recovered from the skin infection. But two of his toes were diagnosed as dead, and eventually fell off before we decided to have the amputation surgery. Now he lost his two toes forever... My family and I still feel heartbroken thinking about this, and we have asked the surgeons about the possible cause of this severe skin infection, and I was told that the most possible reason is that the bandage was too tight, which made me believe that my puppy was receiving inappropriate treatment in Edgewater Animal Hospital. Also, I found the charge of Edgewater Animal Hospital is unreasonable - was charged around $200 - $250 for bandage change, while around $30 - $50 at the other Animal Hospital (both including the cost for sedation). To be honest, I think Dr. Kim is a nice guy, but his practice on my puppy was questionable and improper. And now the consequence my puppy has to take is just too painful... read more

I already wrote a 1 star review that was hidden by Yelp. WHY? I didn't curse or use any bad language. I just told the truth. Why even bother? To amend my review, Dr. Santos said that my cat had no teeth & she also didn't know what to make of the blood test results. Her red blood cells were "off", but that could "be normal". My cat was losing weight when I took her in about 2 1/2 months ago, although she was eating a lot. Dr. Santos told me she had no teeth! (she had teeth, but needed them cleaned) AND her blood tests results were abnormal, but Dr. Santos told me she couldn't tell what was wrong with the blood test results, and the next step would be an ultrasound. WHO EVER HEARD OF DOING AN ULTRASOUND TO CLARIFY BLOOD TEST RESULTS? Furthermore, Dr. Santos refused to give my very dehydrated cat fluids on a Saturday, although they were open. Fluids take less than 5 minutes to do, and a tech could have given them. Actually -- **I** coould have given them. Anyway, I took my cat to a competent vet a week later, repeated the blood tests, and it turned out my Lily had anemia and needed Vitamin B12 shots, fluids & other medications. A few days later, she stopped eating & drinking completely. LILY DIED ON 11/22/22, and wasted away to 3 pounds inside a week. HAD SHE BEEN TREATED FOR ANEMIA IN THE MIDDLE OF OCTOBER WHEN I BROUGHT HER IN, I'm very confident that my beautiful, much loved cat would still be alive. Dr. Santos doesn't know what she is doing, and in my mind, she is responsible for the death of my cat. All she wanted to do was run the bill up. I don't know how she sleeps at night. And I don't want to hear back from the owner, who has an answer for everything. This is a very very greedy, overpriced vet, and they don't know what they are doing. Do not let your furry family member's final moments be at this facility. I had asked for a shadow box paw print specifically and repeatedly. What I had received from them (the service done at Abbey Glen) was a cheap foam paw print inside a cheap plastic box. I called because it wasn't what I asked for and they said AG no longer did the cement and I wasn't charged for it. I would have paid a $1000 for a clay paw print (that is offered instead of the cement and I know this because I called AG). They never specified who was doing the service or where, never specified what I would receive and instead threw it at me like it was a freebie. I would have paid if it meant receiving what I was expecting. If they had stopped and said AG no longer offered the shadow box and instead look for alternatives, I would be satisfied. You robbed someone grieving the loss of a loved one of a permanent piece of them and cheapened it. read more

I am upgrading my review. In all honesty, I do go to the other vet in town primarily because they take CareCredit. The other practice is fine, but I really miss the personalized attention and compassion that my dogs get here. I think there is a lot to be said for a single vet practice and in my mind, that justifies the slightly higher cost. It's much less of a revolving door atmosphere and I wish Edgewater Animal Hospital took CareCredit. Unfortunately, I have a 15 year old dog and his vet bills are getting pretty steep. Why didn't I come here sooner?! I have an elderly 14 year old toy poodle who is the apple of my eye. Throughout the years (13 to be exact) we dealt with subpar veterinary services in the Bergen/Hudson/Essex county area. Some offices were just alright but lacked manners, office cleanliness, discussing treatments and a lot of other good stuff was left out. Thankfully my little fuzzball has always been quite healthy and we've only had to go for checkups and her yearly shots. This past summer we had some international travel and had to get some extremely confusing paperwork together. Thankfully we stumbled upon Dr. Kim's office. I explained we were doing the paperwork with another vet in the area (Hoboken Animal Hospital) and they wouldn't clear my dog for travel because of vaccines that had to be administered after the trip. You're probably reading and thinking "what?" Yes, it's true we had our trip scheduled for a 23rd of the month I believe and they (HAH) wanted me to bring in my dog the following week. How would that be possible my dog wouldn't be able to go on the trip. I had enough back and fourth with Hoboken and decided to look elsewhere. Dr. Kim and his team saw me right away and in just one visit (she was pretty much up to date just needed one shot) they filled out all the paperwork, gave me some medication and I was out the door to get her traveling paperwork endorsed. Do NOT bring your pet here. I am so disappointed with this practice. I was scheduled to have a consult with Dr. Kennedy for my dog to have him neutered and have the umbilical hernia fix, only to find out today that she is no longer performing surgeries there. I got a thousand different stories, she left the practice, she is only working on Saturday's, Marie suggested I take my puppy to oradale animal hospital to be neutered, (BTW she said that Dr. Kim the owner of the practice told her to recommend that alternative), and to have his umbilical hernia fixed in another surgery, he is French Bulldog REALLY, know your client before you make stupid suggestions, I guess they don't need the business if they are referring surgeries out to the local hospital. They had the nerve to charge me a $500.00 deposit to hold the dates for the consult and the surgery. What a SH** SHOW. Beautiful office and great customer/pet care. We needed a pet travel certification and the hospital gave us an appointment right away!! They helped with all the issues we had in order to help us take our little Max overseas. Henry was amazing and the doctor/staff impeccable. Office very clean and all who walked in were welcomed( very friendly). Definitely our new place going forward. If you travel they can do the travel electronic signature, so you will avoid all the back and forth from aphis. read more
