Nice little "corner cafe" on Broad St near the RW Park. The menu is extensive and varied. You can choose from baked good, pizza, latin food, etc. We decided to try their Latin food. So we ordered a Canoa, Mofongitos and a Parrillada platter. I really liked the Mofongitos (3 nice mofongos per order). The canoa was good as well. The parrillada came with churrasco, pork chops and filet. All of them were nicely marinated and grilled. I liked the pork chop the best. The tostones were not like I've had them before. Usually they are fried green plantains cut in round shapes and double fried. These were cut lenghwise (almost like maduro or tajadas), but green. They were OK...not my favorite version of tostones. Overall a nice spot with free wifi. They take credit cards and they have empanadas, cakes and many other yummy stuff to try. Check it out. read more

Queer-O-Meter, a-okay! Nice. This is a great little find. Casual, good food and nice service. It's a cafe crossed delicatessen type place. IMO the menu is a weeeee too extensive, it seems like a lot for this kind of place, but what do I know. I DO know the food was great and the cappuccino was DELISH too, now that I'm an "have been to Italy cappuccino snob"! All the service people were VERY VERY nice and responsive. The food is good and a broad menu - as I stated, and as a con it's a little more expensive for the neighbourhood I think. I don't mind paying a little more for a cute little coffee shop, but I couldn't help shake the feeling that it's not done morphing into it's final state of being. Don't come here if you don't plan on getting the Spanish dishes. Those dishes are great, just don't get anything generic man or you'll be bummed you chose this place for a quick bite. Didn't take as long to get our food as other reviewers. You can get a better pesto chicken at Gregg's and i'm definitely not saying Gregg's has a good pesto chicken. Anywhere you go that's a bakery/nightclub that serves pizza and pasta dishes should be a dead giveaway that you might wanna head the opposite direction. I like this a lot. The staff here are nice and will help you figure out what some of the items are if you're unfamiliar with them. It's a Dominican restaurant, and I recommend getting the traditional DR breakfast items. The fried eggs and cheese, with the salami are excellent. They have really good coffee too - get a Dominicano. My wife always get their fresh squeezed orange juice, and while I'm not normally a juice guy, this is amazing. The portions are very big and the cassava or plantains are very filling so we always share a dish and it's more than enough for a hearty and delicious breakfast. We'll have to try lunch sometime. I just happen to be driving by in a desperate search for a rest room. This pat of town is limited so when I saw this place, I thought it would at least be a quick in or out. It's a pain to get into the lot. Very narrow and if you miss the one entry you have to drive around the block. Not their fault but very tight fit and cross your fingers no one bumps your car coming or going. By chance, the restaurant wasn't actually open - it was their pre-opening where only invited guests/media and walk in from the streets were allowed. Because of this, they didn't have a full menu but offered what they did have, for free! AWESOME! I love this place! It looks like a Dominican/Latino version of a panera bread, before it got big and impersonal . . . The menu was in both Spanish and English and there was food for ANYONE. I had a panini, drip coffee, and a soup . . . i'm sorry - I forgot the name but the gentlemen sitting next to me said it was the dominican version of comfort food/like their version of beef stew. It comes with a side of perfectly cooked rice and avocado. It was really incredible and I was over joyed to try such authentic food! I can't wait to go back. Good luck to this restaurant. read more

Visited about a week ago... not a positive part of the experience. Came in and had menus practically thrown at us. There were only two other women in the place, who were simply sipping coffee and chatting. It took 20 minutes before the server came over to us. I ordered the flatbread, my partner ordered the simple American breakfast. The server informed him that they don't have home-fries that day, so she can give him "French fries or whatever." An hour later, (still the only people there) we get our food. The sausage was unlike anything I've seen before. Past burnt, looked in the state of something that was held hot for 10+ hours. In the photo you'll see the tiny bit in the center that is almost the color of something edible. Next, I noticed the variation in the bacon on my flatbread, some was cooked, some was raw. Along side the brown overcooked scrambled eggs, we we're impressed. The final straw for us was that both of us found hairs on our plates. Being that we only saw the server when she took the order and when she brought it an hour later, we decided to go up to the counter to pay. Chose not to say anything and just pay the bill, based on her work ethic she likely wouldn't have done anything anyway. The coffee is good. The food is not. Bad employees and worse sanitation. After searching high and low for a place to get something to eat my friend and I decided to try this place since it looked so nice on the outside. The inside didn't disappoint either. Beautiful, cozy atmosphere. There were a few people catching up with old friends, and someone on a business lunch. They had low tables, high tables and comfy seats. Walking up I was torn with what I wanted. Like most people the prices shocked me. I scanned for something cheaper and found the first breakfast sandwich which had real egg, cheese, ham and bacon. I chose to get it on a croissant. ($5). I also saw they had an iced caramel swirl latte advertised on the menu for $3.49 for a 20 Oz. When I cashed out my total was over $10. When I saw my receipt, I saw they charged me for a latte $3.99 + a flavor syrup 75¢. Yikes! The man at the counter was nice enough to refund me the difference, but I wonder how many people get overcharged for that? Seems the register doesn't match their menu prices, so beware! I liked that they brought our food to us. When my latte came I was surprised at how much sugar was in my cup, when I didn't ask for sugar. To remedy this I asked for a second cup. Much tastier after no sugar in it. My friend said her treats were ok. I'm sure I'll be back, there aren't too many good coffee spots and clean bathrooms around this part of town. A coworker and I stopped here for lunch last week. The ambiance is great. It's very clean, properly lit, and looks more upscale than most bakery/cafes. The prices seemed a little steep, especially for lunch. There is a sign that asks for the customer's patience because they make your food to order. We didn't have too much time, so my coworker ordered a New York style hot dog and I ordered mozzarella sticks. There were four other groups of people in the cafe when we ordered. It took about 25 minutes to get our food. I hate to mention this, but there was a bit of a language barrier with the person I placed my order with at the counter. We eventually figured it out. Even with only 10 other customers in the dining area, it was really loud in there. There are plenty of seats and tables in a large area. My coworker said his hot dog was good. The hot dog itself was just okay, but the bun was excellent. I liked my mozzarella sticks. There are 6 to an order. My plate originally came out with what tasted like thousand island dressing. The waitress brought out marinara sauce without me having to ask. I did not end up using the marinara because it had a tang to it that tasted like barbecue sauce. The pastries looked good. Mediocre food. The real problem with them is that they are terrible to live near. They operate as a makeshift nightclub with a dance floor that incorporates their parking lot. They play incredibly loud music late into the night. From almost a block away I can hear their music as though it were in my house. Then, even after they close - their patrons, who are parked down all of the sides streets, drunkenly yell at one-another as they walk to their cars. It used to be every Friday and Saturday but now the loud nights have spread to cover all but Monday nights. It is awful. I honestly hope they go out of business. read more

1. Do not expect any accommodations or alternate options. They almost always say they "can't". 2. Be prepared to wait at least 30 mins for ANYTHING, even basic stuff. Even if you're the only person there. 3. Sit patiently and watch the cashier/server/food runner repeatedly walk in and out of the kitchen only to find that she has nothing in her hands for the duration of your wait. 4. The smoke detector may still need batteries so you might hear obnoxious, repeated beeping every few seconds throughout your visit. Learn to filter it out. I've been here about 5 times because I REALLY want to like this place; Broad St needs it. I just don't know why their service is so terrible and I foresee them closing their doors at some point due to customer dissatisfaction for things that are so easily fixed if they would JUST BE ADDRESSED. I ordered the chicken avocado burger. The price was slightly high given the portion of my meal, but nothing too unreasonable. The drinks are what really got me.. $2 for a canned soda and $4 for bottled water. Next time (if there is a next time) I'll be sure to bring my own beverage! I'm giving this place 3 stars because the food was flavorful. However, the bacon on my sandwich was well undercooked (see photos attached). All in all, an OK spot for a quick bite. Absolutely terrible in every way! Almost comically-so, I opened a yelp account just to review this place, so hopefully you can save your money. Late food: Two orders, meat-less pasta for my vegetarian girlfriend and a burger for me, took over 50 minutes to get to our table, and the restaurant was almost empty. When my girlfriend's meal arrived, it had chicken in it. Fine, simple mistake. Bad food safety: But when I approached the wait staff about the chicken, the young waitress asked if I want her to pull out the chicken, as if that would suddenly make the meal okay for a vegetarian. I asked for a newly cooked plate for my GF, at this point already committed to the restaurant. Less than 3 minutes later, the new pasta dish arrived - so why did it take 50 minutes in the first place? Low food quality: The food itself was awful. My girlfriend didn't even finish her dish, and the large buns on my burger hid the fact that the patty was incredibly small. Both meals tasted oily and overly-salted (or high sodium, like it was frozen). The orange juice we both ordered came in dirty mason jars, and was warm. Higher cost: So far it seems pretty bad, right? They ended up charging us for the chicken that they took out of her pasta dish, and the bad orange juice was overpriced at $4 a pop. Rude staff: Not only bad service leading up to the food (such as the waitress asking us how our food was before we got any), and not only the sassy waitress asking about pulling the chicken out of the dish, when I asked about the high cost, the other waitress was extremely rude and just answered "yep you ordered the chicken" even though we clearly did not. All the waitresses were young women and seemed to be either be in high school or recently graduated from high school. They gave us terrible service from the moment we walked in the door, as if they don't care about their jobs. The only pro I could say about the place is the aesthetic of the inside, warm and cozy. We were excited coming in, but this did not last long at all. Overall, every single thing that could go wrong, did. This was the worst dining experience I've had in a long, long time. Do not go here. After 20 mins of waiting I'm told they're out of bow tie pasta. The menu says pasta is served with a side salad and the person serving the food didn't know that. My Basil Mozzarella sandwich, although very tasty, was disproportioned. For $8.63 I expect more. The balsamic was placed directly in the center of the roll and there was only one tomato. My sandwich felt naked. I was the only person in the restaurant and it took 15 minutes for my sandwich to be made. The menu is mostly Spanish style dishes and they are reviewed by others. I did try the Cuban sandwich and it was not inspiring. Pork was OK, but contained several pieces of gristle. The ham was OK, but was only one paper thin slice. Cheese was just OK. Bread was a bun toasted like a Panini so it tasted more like a cracker. Coffee was very strong. Probably espresso with only a little water added. Similar to what you get in Europe if you order coffee americano. It was serve in a very small cup that did not retain the heat. So it was cold by the end of the meal. I did not ask about a refill.If you are looking for an american breakfast or a pastry, there are much better places. Had high hopes, but ultimately my husband and I ended up very disappointed and will not return. Poor/very slow service, high prices, and while the food was of reasonable quality, it did not make up for the other cons (see below). To begin, the menus (pleural) were confusing as there were 2 different ones, one for more restaurant-style food and one that had more "cafe" type food...? Not sure as it wasn't explained to us and the waitress herself seemed confused over the two options. They also only had one "restaurant" style food menu left to hand us despite the place being pretty empty which seemed odd. However, the items on the menus themselves sounded pretty good, the waitress seemed friendly enough, and the decor was nice, so we were still excited to give the place a chance. I decided on a steak Toston, my husband went with soft steak tacos, and we both ordered Yuca fries. As I recall, the menu did not list that there was an additional cost to order specific types of meat for the Toston, even though it indicated that you should pick a meat to go with it (I believe a surcharge was listed on the menu for seafood items but nothing else, so we were surprised when we saw the additional charge for about $2 to add steak). Not a huge deal and could have been a misunderstanding on our part, but confusing nonetheless. After waiting well over 45 minutes before the waitress came by to tell us the food would be ready "soon", dinner was finally served room temperature. The restaurant was not particularly busy and our orders weren't complicated, so I am not sure what the delay was. The waitress also never refilled our waters despite our having waited patiently throughout the delay. Thankfully (aside from being room temperature?) the food tasted pretty good. We had two pieces of cake to go which were also quite good and moist, and the other items behind the counter looked delicious. We could have forgiven the cost of everything (total was about $50) if the service had been great, but that unfortunately was not the case. Overall, we were really looking forward to this place given its Yelp reviews, but it was a huge let down. Very nice to have an authentic Latin/Dominican café across from Roger Williams Park to serve up great food. I had the Mañanitas Flatbread, which was great, though VERY filling for one (better if I'd brought a friend) for only $7. The place was well designed, clean, and the staff was friendly. To those of you whining about the prices, continue south on Broad Street, bang a left on any side street before Washington Park Square, and head for Allens Avenue. Location is down the street I grew up from (Prairie Ave) so certainly wanted to give this place a try. I have it 3 chances hoping things were different but not at all. They need a manager that can manage. The employees lack experience and the food takes to long. I understand they want food to be fresh when ordered but 30 to 40 mins with out an apology is ridiculous. Nice place and the food is good, but the service struggles. I came here at a time when it was not busy at all, only three other customers besides myself. I ordered three very simple turkey sandwiches. I had to wait over 25 minutes to get them. There was only one other customer before me that ordered good. On what planet does it take 25+ minutes to make 3 turkey sandwiches??? Also, ordering these three sandwiches was an adventure in itself. The order taker did not have a string command of the English language. I asked for mayonnaise and it was a completely foreign word to her. She had to take time to ask another employee what it was. You work at a place that mages sandwiches, how don't you know what this is. What should have been a quick order to place, ended up being 15 minutes of a completely struggling situation.
