I cannot say enough good things about the Cornerstone Bakery and Restaurant. My sister and I went early on Super Bowl Sunday and were seated quickly. The restaurant isn't the biggest, so I would recommend it most for parties of 4 or under that way everyone can be seated comfortably and quickly. In my opinion, the best thing at Cornerstone is the Portuguese sweet bread French toast. It is sweet and delicious and I have yet to find anything like it at other breakfast places I've tried. Better yet, on your way out, you can grab a sweet bread to take home so the deliciousness can continue at home. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to be back soon! read more

Cornerstone has been a longtime favorite of ours, so much that we needed to take a break & try a few other places nearby. (One came & went before the 1st snow. It was a cute little place too). Anyway, after a few months break, we went back in late this morning. We received an "old friend" kind of greeting from Judy, a longtime server. This is a family owned & run establishment..I think I heard her say to another guest she had been serving tables there 40yrs?! ( she only looks 35)? Don't believe that 40 yr fact?? Lol. The menu format has a new look. Easier to read but I think most of them old favorites were on the new menu with some exciting new additions. One od the new additions jumped off the page at me & I had to have it. " The Elvis". Im not a crazed Elvis lover except for this plate. It is not a keto friendly or diabetics friend. 2 slices of sweetbread covered in peanut butter & bananas with whipped cream & a couple of slices of bacon. Bring your cardiologist with you to breakfast & he can have his poached egg and berry bowl waiting for you to need his medical assistance. If you don't make it out alive, you can say Elvis left a smile on your face for your last meal. It's so good, you'll remember it for a while. Can you say that about your last rice cake? So currently on vacation and my home area of Massachusetts, by recommendation decided to try cornerstone, bakery and restaurant? Been around since 1985 completely missed this place, all things considered I'm sorry I missed it! Cute little place. Family owned sat down with my family and believe it or not people my mother sister and wife have not seen in over 20 years. Came to our table with a very warm welcomes with one on top of the staff which made us extremely welcome and hands-down the food was fantastic! Looking at this gem from the outside you might never guess what a treasure it is. From the friendly and attentive server to the big portions to the scrumptious food, this place is on my Places To Go Again and Again! And it's an hour's drive one way. Food, service, cleanliness ( except for the time that I saw a server drop a napkin on the floor then picked it up and used it to set the table ) all good. Reasonable prices. Family friendly. This is a great bakery and restaurant with ample off street parking. Walking in the front door, your senses are greeted by display cases of delicious looking baked goods. There is a drive up window for your convenience. Elisabeth was our waitress and was very friendly and attentive. Quality of the sweetbread not as good as previous times. When you want a lemon square they give you what they pick and if the next piece is a corner that's what you get. I believe since I'm paying for it I should be able to pick the one I want. That's called customer service! Which they lack. Very slow service it's not that they're busy, they are very slow. I think they "corner" the market in that area, and that's why they are still in business. read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast at this restaurant. My omelette was delicious and my pancakes was too. I would say get there early on the weekend because the place does get busy. If you are just getting baked goods and coffee you can use the drive thru. But, I would recommend breakfast there!! My boyfriend had the Portuguese roast, which was delicious. The meat melted in your mouth. The waitress told us you can call before 2:00 and have an order ready for you to pick up. I am going to do this for dinner one night because I think it would be good with some veggies and sides. Our waitress was really friendly and very helpful! CB - the bakery, the restaurant- at least for the bfast offerings does a nice job serving up local fare, to the many locals and beyond. The chorico and sweetbread are key staples, and the ability to make the former into hash and the latter into toast with butter satisfies the taste buds from southeastern MA to SoCal. The servings are large, but the coffee basic - the latter for FYI. Nonetheless the food - c'est vraiment delicious, and you can even get a Portuguese meat offering for a side. One of the best Portuguese sweetbreads around; however, I bought some blueberry scones and they were rock-hard, lacked flavor, had very few blueberries mixed into the scone batter, and had no sweetness. Though it's almost always incredibly busy, it's because it's the best breakfast around. I love coming here when I have the time, for a great yummy breakfast. Food comes out quickly, and always great. Driving by I saw the fish and chips special. But when I got inside and saw several Portuguese dishes, I changed my mind. I ordered a cup of the Portuguese kale soup. It came with a great roll and, although a touch salty for my taste, was very good. I appreciated the extra saltiness when I was dipping the roll in it. I also ordered the cacoila sandwich, I had never heard of it before. It was tasty but a bit dry, I'm not sure how it's usually served, I would add some peppers and onions to it and shred it a bit more. The roll is fantastic. The fries were good. Ok so we dropped off something for work in Assonet and r headed back to Providence and saw this place. Woo hoo! Love Mom & Pop places. That's r thing!!! We r here working on the weekend so we r hanging out be paid tourists this wknd! Hehe This parking lot had a few truck drivers in it along side so we followed suit! They have a nice Bakery in the front which the cases r almost empty... so it must be good! We got seated and drinked up. There were quite a few Portuguese menu items which Bf knows very well. Of course he picked the Portuguese Roast with eggs. Me I opted for the Vegi omelete yummy. Thank goodness they only give u a few potatoes which I didn't eat all anyway. My omelete was very fresh. His roast was delish I got a bite. The sauce was nice n spicy too. Huge chunks and a reasonable price too. I think we discovered a NEW place near Providence to eat! We'll established Portuguese bakery and restaurant Particularly known for their sweet breads and breakfasts. I was a guest for lunch and was informed everything is homemade and all exceptional. I opted for the slow stewed Portuguese roast served with roasted potatoes with chorizo. The meal definitely has a homemade taste and feel but I just found the whole dish to be heavily salted. I must had drank 3 full glasses of water with that dish. I found it weird that unlike every other Portuguese restaurants I've dined at,this restaurant did not offer any of the rolls and butter for table service. I mean considering they are a full fledged bakery. It made have been a big difference if the rolls was at the table for me to off set some of the saltiness from the overall dish. read more

Walked in at 1:00, hoping to grab a quick bite to eat. The restaurant was dead, maybe 3 tables seated. After we were seated we looked at the menu quickly and sat waiting for over 10 minutes before our waitress even acknowledged us. When she finally came to our table, she asked if we wanted any drinks. We declined, but told her that we were ready to order. She responded by telling us "well you're gonna have to wait" and walked away. More time passed and the waitress never returned.
