Who charge $5.65 for cutting your dogs pills without even telling you!!! On top of the vet requested a blood test before the next refill, as it is I was going to go to my go to vet as they are nicer. The vet here try to make me feel guilty as I didn't wanted that blood test as it wasn't recommended before. Suddenly I stop by for a refill and a follow up and is an extra $60 for a blood test. I had a family emergency so I decided to try again today. They draw his blood and they wanted to charge me $100 plus. When I asked the front person responded that it was a different vet that draw the blood and recommended the full panel. Really? How come as I never saw a vet today??? Unless is an emergency I'll not come back here ever again. I started coming here as the Hart foundation comes here with their rescue vet and the first vet that I saw was rally nice. I highly recommend Parkway to anyone who needs a vet! We got a young dog who was very sick. I called them and they referred me to an emergency doctor but told me to call them for the follow up visit. Even though I wasn't a patron yet, that vet tech called me to see how the dog was doing. This was just such a thoughtful gesture that I really appreciated. When the dog was released, I called them to schedule the follow up visit and they were very accommodating. During his illness, it was also discovered that he had a cancerous tumor that needed to be removed. They scheduled his follow up with Dr. Rhymes because he would be the best for the cancer. Within a week, Dr. Rhymes removed the tumor and brought our little guy back to a healthy state. He called multiple times to follow up which was comforting. Do not waste your time here. Okay, first things first, we had to schedule multiple appointments as every time we showed up when we had one the receptionist would tell us (me and my dad) that the doctor wasn't there. This happened 3 times. On the third try when we were waiting they had a cat roaming around free which my dog has a fear of and we're just like "" these people are so unprofessional. By the time we got into the exam room there was no air conditioning it was extremely hot in there that even my dad was sweating! They managed to only take his weight. As we came there to get his nails clipped and his Bordetella vaccine. When they took him into the back to do his nails they wouldn't let either of us go in with him. (He has some major separation anxiety) my dad and I were stuck waiting in a room as we heard Kenji screaming in panic and pain. The vet tried to tell us that he was being violent but I know the difference between him being violent and him being scared. My dad and I were forced to wait in that room until they eventually came back and told us that he was too violent and we needed to put him on Trazadone. The vet said and I quote "we're gonna send him home with a Trazadone prescription 12 hours and 2 hours before his next appointment that we had to schedule then he had to take them for the rest of the week. My dad and I were officially done at this point they wanted to sedate my dog for several days to do a simple task that we could've helped them with? I even offered to help put a muzzle on him as I know how to handle him but the vet told me that she wasn't comfortable with him being there. My dad and I just left then and there. This place is unprofessional. Not coming here again and you shouldn't bring your animals here either. read more

Writing for my Mother who does not have a Yelp account: I have loved and used this practice for the past 40 years! The veterinarians are all wonderful. I had my 14 yr old Addisons dog there just a couple of weeks ago for a lab draw. He has them done every 3 months. He has to be sedated and it takes several days after for him to recover from his visit (he cannot handle stress with Addisons). Just a couple of days after that last visit we received notice that he needed a distemper vaccine. I was irritated that it wasn't done while he was there and decided to wait until his next blood draw. Today I called for a heartworm medication refill and was told I would have to bring him in for a heartworm test before they would give me his medicine. The test should have been done two weeks ago when he had his blood drawn! This decision was made by the front desk without consulting a vet. I clearly explained my dog's condition and response to visits and was literally brushed off with an "I'm so sorry." This is clearly an issue with techs not checking the chart when he was in for his visit and a front desk that makes standard patient decisions and not consulting the vets in special cases. I have decided, after 40 years of being a loyal client, that I am considering leaving the practice for the sake of my dog. read more

I only go to this vet as the rescue I foster for uses them. The vet has always been very responsive and helpful. He calls back regarding health issues with my foster in a timely manner and takes all concerns I have seriously and is very proactive. I personally would not go here though, because the front desk staff are awful. I find it interesting there are many reviews all stating the same thing yet nothing seems to be done. The front desk receptionists are all rude and extremely unhelpful. When checking in, they know who my foster dog is on sight, but always ask me rudely what he is there for, as it they are unaware. He recently had an appointment scheduled and I received two different confirmation phone calls and both calls gave a different drop off time. I have had a foster that barked and barked at other dogs. Instantly, when I walked into the vets there was another dog and he began barking, so I was moving him off to the side. As I was doing this the front desk worker very rudely told me to take him to the side, which I was already doing. These people are the first you see at the practice and they have absolutely no social skills. After one appointment when I was waiting for my dog to be brought out the front desk workers were checking an older women out and her dog. After she left all three of them were mocking her and openly making fun of her. It was completely unprofessional and shocking. Again, the vet has been great, but I dread taking my foster dog there, because of them- it is always such an unpleasant experience. read more

I would give 0 stars - this is a horrible practice - with a very rude manager. It is high cost and cares more for $ than the health of the pet. But. Dr Rhymes is a good surgeon and removed a cancerous tumor from our dog - but only after I argued an hour and with the manager- my sister owed them $ and they were going to deny my dog surgery because we lived in the same house - both with my parents. Though dogs registered different . Dr Fowler is a very good doctor. Dr Foley however lacks class and a bedside manner. She did a painful procedure on my dog in front of me instead of in back. Made me very upset - she was not nice at all. I got tired of being treated like a criminal due to my sister's debt - though I was spending over $100+ dollars a week on my older dog and never bounced a check or had a tab - They treated me badly! I found out that they even spoke about my family to others behind our backs to others. Though they are extremely close, and Dr Fowler is excellent- BUT- I will never go back! I will not pay them to treat me badly and be rude - and almost deny my sick dog care! Their cost is way above average - not worth it! My cat's vet since kitten hood is located in Leesburg. As I am currently residing temporarily in Burke, getting out to her is not always easy. I needed a supplement that my vet recommended I might be able to procure from Parkway or another local clinic. As the other did not have it in stock, they graciously suggested I called Parkway. When I called, not only was Parkway super friendly, they had no problem allowing me to purchase what I needed without a script from my vet. They even had it ready and waiting for me when I walked in. They helped me navigate through my elderly cat's renal failure and steps I could do to keep her healthy and pain-free (for example, teaching me how to administer subcutaneous fluids). As she turned 18 and then a few months into 19, I had 4-5 urgent visits that required immediate care. Each and every time, they took her right in and she had wonderful care. The prices were very reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised. In the end, when her rainbow bridge time came last Monday, Dr. Rhymes (my favorite) came over to our house to administer euthanasia. I will absolutely never visit this veterinary clinic again. While it is possible the veterinarians and technicians are competent, you have to first get past the rudest, most unprofessional desk staff I have ever encountered. During my first visit an elderly client fell over trying to walk his dog into the door; not a single staff member assisted outside or inside the clinic with this client. The receptionists don't greet anyone when you walk in, and one in particular needs to educate herself on the medications these animals are receiving. It doesn't matter what business you are in, the front desk staff make the first impression. These individuals are the first indication of how the rest of the clinic staff may be...whether they will be kind and caring to insecure rescue dogs or patient with older animals. I am fortunate enough to have been a technician in some amazing veterinary clinics and the front desk staff sets the tone for the entire visit. Parkway should be mindful of how rude these individuals are and how it reflects on the clinic; they are an absolute deterrent to what might otherwise be an amazing veterinary staff. read more

Will never return here, ever. It took a new vet a matter of 45 minutes to figure out what was wrong with our dog. All it took was a simple blood test that Parkway did not once mention or offer as a possible solution. Parkway couldn't figure it out for MONTHS. They kept focusing (and insisting) it was an issue that he had tested negative for every single time. We had spent close to $2,000 here, and we still had zero answers and a very miserable dog. When we refused to give our dog the vet (Dr. Patty) was constantly giving him and wasn't working, they flat out refused to give him something we KNEW would solve his ear issues. Their answer? "We don't order that medicine." What? Do you not have access to pharmaceutical medicine for animals? On top of this, they are also GROSSLY OVERCHARGING people for subpar care. We currently pay less at our new vet for better care and the EXACT same medication by about 45%. Be warned these people only care about your wallets, not the well being of your beloved pets! read more

Dr. Rhymes is the best! Can't stress that enough. We've been taking our dog here ever since we've gotten him from the breeder at 12 weeks. Wesley is our first dog so we have/had a lot of questions. I was afraid of being "that mom" that worries about all the small stuff, but Dr. Rhymes has always been patient with my husband and I about any concerns or questions we have. Whenever we take Wesley in for something it truly seems like he has the dog's health and well-being at heart. Wesley has unfortunately has become a regular due to breed-related issues. He's always greeted warmly by the reception desk staff and does well with the techs and of course his vet. We have pet insurance that requires some paperwork on the doc's side, but Dr. Rhymes is more than willing to fill the forms out with a smile. The staff is also more than willing to help! For a checkup, rabies shot, other basic vaccines, and heartworm test for my 60lb dog, I expected to pay approx. $177. (this in comparison to another quote i got from another clinic that said it would be over $270 wtf) My final bill was $125. w00t!!! And the shots were good for 3 years, not that 1yr crap. Parkway Vet is the best. This week both my little dogs had much needed dentals. They both were long overdue (bad dog mom) and I was so worried as I've had bad experiences with other vets in the past. They both came through their procedures like pros. The technicians were skilled,caring and professional. One dog had 3 teeth pulled and the other smaller dog had 6 teeth pulled and has NO teeth left. They both act like nothing happened and the dog with teeth left has beautiful white teeth and no more bad breath! The price was reasonable and they both received complimentary pedicures! I made an appointment for a simple teeth cleaning but was not told it was with a different doctor. This doctor not only filed every single tooth flat, the staff tried to tell me it was not done! I have a shepherd and his teeth are very important. I take very good care of them and brush them weekly so I think I would know if every single tooth in his mouth now has a flat top where once it wasn't!
