I bought by my certified pre owned Volvo from Parkway a few years ago. It has only been taken to Parkway for service except for 2 times where it went to a very reputable service place for 2 separate oil changes. Since Jan 19 of this year my car has gone in 4 times. The first time, Jan 19, for Soldnoid and gasket replacement. The car went back in 5 days later on Jan 24 for the same replacement. Was told at this time that they missed sludge found in my engine. They stated they would clean it out for free and change the parts for no charge to me. Assured me car would be fine. Stated sludge was from using the incorrect oil type for my vehicle those two times I had not taken it to Parkway. Remember all oil changes since I bought the car over three years ago have been from Parkway. They stated "I am not going to hold them, (the other place I took the car two times) fully accountable though for two reasons-one I felt like we should have tested more thoroughly to ensure there was no sludge at the last visit . But mostly because when your vehicle was manufactured the original oil requirement was Ow20 or 5w30. It wasn't until April 2020 that Volvo changed the requirements. (The other car place) may not have had access to this information.." They then stated "everything came out beautifully" This is exact quotes from text message from Volvo. Feb 12 Car back in for stumbling sensation under acceleration. Volvo stated ignition coils failing. Stated" was not in any relation to anything to do with the engine oil" They replaced spark plugs and fixed car. June 3 Car begins smoking enough to cover the car. Towed back to Volvo. Volvo stated it was the turbo. I asked if this had anything to do with the previous sludge found in my cars engine. Stated nothing to do with the sludge. They said this was a separate issue. They had my car 10 days. Just didn't feel right so I had my car towed to a different place on June 13th for a second opinion. Report from 2nd facility -not Volvo on June 14th "Found MAJOR sludging with oil ports clogged from sludge. With the amount of deposits and sludge under oil trap it appears this has been happening for a long time( this amount could not occur within the last year) Spark plugs full of oil which is not caused by turbo. Recommend replacing PCV/OIL trap, replace spark plugs, (again) manually clean passages, then perform BG Dynamic restorations and BG platinum service to help remove residual oil and sludging. " REMEMBER -VOLVO SAID JUST TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS WAS NOT A SLUDGE ISSUE AND THAT THE TURBO NEEDED REPLACED FOR 5000 The 2nd facility cleaned out the sludge, replaced spark plugs, replaced oil trap. NO TURBO was needed. Pictures are what the 2nd facility found when I had the car towed to their facility on June 13. Was the car's sludge ever cleaned out when Volvo stated they did it? What would cause that much sludge? Every mechanic I have spoken to said even if there was completely wrong oil say neither 5w30 or Ow20 both times that much sludge would not occur from just two oil changes. I continue to have a lot of questions but cannot get them to answer them. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER! We got a badly cracked windshield in our 2022 XC90 on our way to bald head island from NJ. Called the parkway Volvo (the nearest dealer) to see what our options were. Long story short, they were not helpful in the least! They showed no empathy for our situation and presented zero options. No waiting appointments, no loaner car, nothing- and even got an attitude from the junior employees that we spoke to. Luckily we contacted Beach Volvo in Myrtle Beach who were extremely helpful, offered unlimited flexibility put us in touch with the right people, and made a difficult situation much easier. In fact we are considering just upgrading our Volvo now and buying from them before we go home. read more

I had a 2016 XC90 that was a lemon. The sunroof would not open and I brought it back 3 times under warranty to repair it. The 4th time they told me it was out of warranty and I needed a new sunrooof which would cost $5,000. Stay away from the XC90. The car cost me thousands of dollars in repair bills! read more

Horrible Customer Service. I am a returning customer with Parkway Volvo Cars. I had a 10:20 AM appointment for an oil change and service. I arrived at exactly 10:19 AM. At check in the staff member did not smile and pulled my name from the computer. I ask when would my car be ready. She replied it would be around 1:00 PM when a technician would start with my car but I could use their complimentary shuttle service. I told them it is a 2 hours round trip and I expect my 10:20 AM appointment to be honored. I was told that other customers have no problems with the wait times. No respect for my time and of my expense of driving 2 hours round trip. I told Katy Mills the Service Manager of 8 years that I would never be back and she politely asked me to leave. I bought this car from Weaver Volvo In Raleigh, NC. The Parkway Volvo Staff should spend a day with The Weaver Volvo Staff to learn the importance of customer service and how to greet and respect the customer. read more

Do not trust these people! After having my car for three full days, they charged me $2000. When I picked up my car, the windows had been opened and a spider was dangling from the inside on my windshield in front of my nose. When I dropped it off, the car doors would automatically lock when I was driving. Now they do not. They had worked on (fixed) my electrical system. read more

THE BEST Car Buying Experience I have ever had. By a country mile. Really. Over the years we have purchased perhaps a dozen cars, but this was by far, the best ever. I usually feel like it's a battle. First they try to chum up, often awkwardly, and then they Close Close Close: "What can I do to help you drive this out of here TODAY?" OK, I've done sales, I understand the process which even has a name: ABC !! Always be closing !! ... then you wait and wait while they "sell" your offer to their managers and of course they always come back countering with "Geeze, we can't do that, but how about ..."; ever watch the movie "Fargo"? Be honest - have you every enjoyed shopping at the dealer for a car? That is until this weekend at Parkway Volvo, on Market Street in Wilmington, NC. Now to be fair, we had a car already in mind, picked put off their web site. We called in advance to tell them we were coming in to look at it - and they had pulled it out, waiting for us. The salesman had clearly researched the car. We had done some advance research and knew it was a one owner California car, but asked anyway - he answered right away, "One owner from San Diego", and then he added, "No Accidents" - another fact we already knew but it's nice to see a salesman doing his homework on one of his probably 100 other available cars. A Low Milage vehicle, under 10k / year, we asked if it was certified, and he knew that answer too: "No". We then asked what that would take because having that certification provides a lot of advantages for the new owner. He said, "Let me check" ... left and came back in a few minutes, saying, "We'll make it a certified car". We asked how he did that, and he said the vehicle was on the fence, but was close enough they would honor it, and they added that feature, most notably without also adding, "if you pay us extra $'s". We showed him our trade-in, and frankly it was worth little but I told him what another dealer had offered as incentive to buy their new car. That number was far clearly more than it was worth. We took the XC90 out for a test drive - and we did so without some salesman "insisting" through some bologna story that he had to ride with us - all they really want to do is keep on the pressure. We were able to drive and discuss without having to code or shield our conversation from an overbearing salesman in the rear seat. We returned. We were ready to buy for less-than-market-value per Edmunds - again, we had done out homework. They also matched our trade in. We didn't have to "negotiate". There was no "manager" who also had to sign off. We signed the papers and ... get this: were out of there in three hours, Start to finish. I have NEVER completed a transaction So Fast and been So Happy with the results, the actual experience and yes, the dealership too. I really mean that. It was actually a joyful experience, violating the cosmic law that one must become miserable and battle car salesmen for hours if not days just to even attempt a fair deal. Seriously ... by another country mile, the best car buying experience. I cannot imagine one better. Highly recommended, give them an opportunity to help you. read more

Horrible car buying experience. I purchased my vehicle around July 25, 2020 and I still have yet to receive my tags. After hounding Parkway for months about the submission of my registration application, they finally submit my application to the DMV in I believe October but guess what, they didn't submit all the documents and had a fee error, this caused my application to be rejected by the DMV on November 27th. I have called and emailed the dealership about this and no one has returned my call. Horrible customer service, unprofessional, and inefficient. I would avoid buying a car from Parkway! They will use ever excuse under the sun as to why they are inefficient (e.g., covid, vendor, DMV, etc). Even the DMV told me that this is unacceptable. I have notified the NC Attorney General about this matter. read more

We had a very easy buying experience at Parkway. Leroy Montgomery's laid back, no pressure approach was appreciated. We purchased a slightly used off-lease Volvo and after we got it home we noticed the primer had bubbled up in a small spot on the roof, and that the car was pulling to the right. Parkway was prompt and attentive in fixing these issues and even provided us with a loaner vehicle during the time that the paint was repaired. Everyone we've encountered at Parkway has provided great service. We will definitely consider them first when we buy our next vehicle. read more
