This place is great. Tons of frames to choose from, and everyone I've dealt with is friendly and helpful.

Our experience at MEEI was horrible from rude staff, unreliability where they didn't return our calls, and more. This place was just above and beyond in comparison!! And felt as if we were at a "5 star hotel" for a private office compared to MEEI's 2.5 star hotel rating... Parking is tight at one of their office location (West Roxbury), but the medical center in Norwood and other place had parking which was helpful! And was free. After deciding to go with this specialist due to their experiences, knowledge, and care (unlike MEEI's), they were responsive to our questions and calls. We appreciated that a great deal. We absolutely adore Mary, one of their office staff in addition to the attending nurses (all were great) and the doctors too!

I was also promptly referred to a retina specialist who looked into the issue of floaters/flashes and possible retina detachment. The technicians in both of the Eye Care Specialist locations in Norwood and West Roxbury were extremely capable in their administering of drops, use of all the imaging machines, and their thoroughness in taking my pertinent eye health information to give to the doctors. The doctors I have seen, Dr. Mills and Dr. Agahababayan were both very competent and identified my problems immediately, prescribing effective medications and treatment plans. They were also very friendly and informative about the causes for my issues and suggested courses of action to deal with root causes. Overall these offices in Norwood and West Roxbury were outstanding in every way and I am lucky to have found them. Thank you all.

I…read moreorginally saw another Dr, who was fine, but I was told I had to return to see Dr. I because she was a dry eye specialist. Not only was I kept waiting over an hour for this appointment, but my insurance didn't cover it so I had to pay for it. Dr. I recommended that I have a series of laser treatments at $250 each. AND she told me a horror story about how I could go blind if I didn't do it. Then, when my glasses came in the alignment or something was way off. I had it checked and redone redone twice. The lenses alone cost $650 because they were progressives with prism. (They were never right but I gave up.) When I told them I couldn't see well enough to drive wearing the glasses, they didn't believe me and said I just had to get used to progressives even though I explained that I had had progressives before. So, I had to return three times and wait a long time even though I had appointments. At the time, I wrote a negative review. The owner contacted me and asked me to take it down and he'd give me a free pair of prescription sunglasses lens. (I provided the frames.) I'm submitting this again because it's a year later and I went to another eye doctor. Now, after a good experience at Boston Vision, I know I was right to complain. Sure, prescriptions change, but I found out the contacts didn't even correct my astigmatism, which is the main reason I wear them, and the glasses were way off. Not only that, but no one tried to sell me any lasers or drops or eye masks. When it came to tests, they carefully explained my choices because some were included under my insurance and others weren't.

I found Eyespot through SearchDoc because I needed to squeeze in my annual eye exam before the end…read moreof the year. Unfortunately, I regret not waiting for my regular optometrist. My biggest frustration was the wait time. At my first appointment, I waited approximately 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. At every subsequent visit, the wait was at least an hour. In each case, I spent considerably more time in the waiting room than I did with the optometrist. After reading other reviews, it appears my experience was far from an isolated one. The appointments also felt heavily focused on selling additional products and services. I was repeatedly advised about dry eye concerns and encouraged to purchase eye patches, eye drops, and even consider laser treatments. While dry eye is certainly a legitimate condition, I found it difficult to reconcile the extensive recommendations with the relatively limited amount of time spent examining my eyes and my vision. I also paid for what was described as a custom contact lens fitting. To their credit, the office allowed me to return multiple times for trial lenses until we found a pair that worked reasonably well. However, the overall process felt disorganized. During one follow-up, after another long wait, I was asked why I hadn't brought back a previous prescription so they could determine what I needed next. I assumed the office would have maintained those records as part of the fitting process. By the end, I wasn't even confident that the contact lens prescription I received reflected the final lenses we had settled on. The billing was another disappointment. Several charges were not covered by my insurance, and I never felt I received a clear explanation of what I was paying for or why. The distinction between a contact lens exam and a custom contact lens fitting was confusing, and I would have appreciated greater transparency before agreeing to the services. Finally, I wish optometry offices were more upfront about which tests are included in a routine exam, which are optional, and what costs patients may be responsible for. Patients should understand what they're consenting to before additional tests or services are performed. The staff were polite, and I appreciated their willingness to provide additional trial contact lenses until we found a reasonable fit. However, between the chronic delays, the constant upselling, the confusing billing, and the disorganized contact lens process, I won't be returning.

The attitude I got left me feeling like I wasn't welcome. They let me know that they don't adjust Warby Parker without charging me a fee and couldn't confirm they wouldn't break them. They should note that many people cannot afford the cost of many eyeglasses (they charge hundreds of dollars that aren't always reimbursed) and Warby Parker offers low cost glasses. Adjusting them would take them just a few minutes and help customers feel supported. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed.

The fix is coming from my new relationship with Needham eye associates and in particular Ilana! She helped trouble shoot, ordered frames and even helped to work within a tight time frame! She is the most pleasant person and I certainly hope that she is recognized for her willingness to go above and beyond! I am visiting local family and am thrilled to have made this association! I am grateful beyond words!
