I was very sad when Party City went out of business. There are hardly any party stores around anymore. I was down the street at a tile store for our bathroom remodel and happily stumbled across this Party City. I guess they ALL didn't go under. Who knew!? Of course I had to check it out. They had a plethora of balloons!! Sooo many options. I was looking for the party cups that they always had in every color like the Long Beach location but I didn't see any (if someone can confirm they DO have them let me know!) I won't frequent here since it's a bit of a drive from me but I'm glad to know it still exists if needed. read more

It was going good till the young cash register girl makes a rude remark. Saying get someone else to help me. I ask about balloons for a bday. I buy a few very large ones. Then I wanted get small balloons to go with it. She points at heart shaped balloons located at the ceiling. I told her I'd take them in 6 different colors. She then charges me for the star* shaped balloons. So I kindly ask her to get me the heart shaped balloons. She did and I said thank you so much. Then I asked her. Do you think these balloons are enough? She said she thinks it is and if you need more get someone else to help you laughing. They are often are out of stocked on balloons. Last couple trips to the Hawthorn store I've had to change my mind on my whole setup based on them being out of stock. Latex balloons don't last very long. Today, my husband bought me an arrangement and by the time I got home from work they were falling to the ground. Came here to get lots of cheery colorful balloons at the last minute for a party. Spent $262 total. We ended up not having to use the helium so had to return it next day. Still unopen and new. Talk about a joke. Drove 45 minutes out for my son not to be able to try on a costume. No returns, just exchanges that must be done next day, I was told by the female at the register. I only had 10 minutes: gotta find what I need and get out ASAP. Came through for last minute party supplies for gramma's 98th birthday coming up in a few weeks. This place is big. It's a good place to go if you have kids, and you're trying to have a themed birthday party. There were all kinds of themes here from Barbie and Curious George to Batman and Star Wars. It wasn't busy at all when I went. The store was practically empty on a Sat afternoon in December. They told me I should pick them up at a time very close to when I needed them so that the air would last longer. We picked up the balloons and two women who worked there helped "shove" them in our car on a windy day. When I took the balloons out of the car they were tangle so bad we could not get them undone. One even popped while trying to untangle. When I called the store they told me to bring the balloons back but I let them know I did not have time to bring the balloons back because of their suggestion to pick them up right before I needed them (20 min drive each way plus time to fill new balloons). The woman on the phone was very rude and almost "trashy" in the way she spoke to me. She did not believe that her employees helped put my balloons in the car, she never apologized for the balloons being tangled, never offered me a solution, basically was like "oh well" when I told her I spent $150 on these balloons I can't use and finally when I was so frustrated because she wasn't offering any solutions and didn't care at all, I started raising my voice, she then hung up on me. My latest find is Party City online, it doesn't get any better than their on line website. The savings are phenomenal. From the discount on all items to the savings on shipping which is free if you purchase 99.00 or more and they're on the West Coast which makes it faster to get your order. Of course no one told me about this I kinda stumbled upon it, I am not sure the retail employees know about it, however I really appreciate being able to order online. Lots of mass produced foreign cheaply made products, but hey if you're celebrating the holiday on a budget then this is a place to go. Came to this party city to do a return. I bought a witch doctor hat and black skull bowl with the intention to use it. We never used it so I decided to return it. I originally bought it at a different party city but I came across this one and decided to return. The guy who helped do my return was an asshole. He would make rude comments and said "you bought it from another party city, you should return it there" that was completely unnecessary. You can feel a bit overwhelmed walking into Party City, as their shelves are packed with things you don't really need, but that might make a party special. I came here specifically to rent a helium tank. It was great, service was great and I had the tank for 72 hours. I was also able to pickup some catering trays as well. They carry all types of balloons, hats, giveaways for different themes. There was also bridal and baby shower stuff, tiki torches, and serving platters. They also carried different colored M&M's. I picked up some weights for $0.99 each to hold my balloons down and they didn't stand a chance against the wind. I would say don't waste your money on these!
