I've been shopping at this store since it became a 99 cent store almost a decade ago. Went to the grand opening and everything. I wash happy to see it here. I've been shopping at 99 cent stores since I was a kid. Sad to see that all stores are closing. My favorite aisles are "stationary." Since I love to write and "automotive," as I am a do it yourselfer. So I always have ink pens, pencils, erasers, markers, staples, papers, Krazy Glue, car wash cloths, etc in my cart. I've been shopping here since everything was actually 99 cent to most of the stuff being $1.99 "amazing new value." Came here by myself or with my mother, a female friend, etc. If I came here with someone, I came here with no intention on buying anything. But once I hit the stationary aisle, I had to get some nice ink pens, pencils, markers, folders, notebook paper, etc. Then once I got home, I was ready to start writing with my new stationary. This location always had most of the stuff I would normally get. Plus there was always convenient available parking lot parking. A lot of times, lines were long. Due to a few cashiers being opened. But most of the time it would take no more than 6 minutes to reach a cashier once I entered a line. A few days ago I found out that all 99 cent stores were closing. I finally made it down here, 4 days late. As most of everything is gone. What's left are a huge amount of trashed products and open packages/wrappers. It seems like shoplifters went through a lot of the stuff. Pretty sad to see this store come to this. Hopefully all the 99 cent employees will find replacement jobs soon. read more

First time here, got a phone charger for the car, grapes, and a salad for less than $6. Can't beat the prices and products. Always parking and the lines always go quickly. This lady behind me in line was so kind to me she was buying apples for her boys. read more

I came in September 20 2023 at 7:05 the store was closed the website says it opens at 7am. I gave them 30 min then someone came out to let 2 gentleman in. I asked what time they open she said 20-30 min. They should update the website that they open at 8. read more

This is the best 99 Cents Store location in the area in my opinion. They have a private parking lot with plenty of slots. The store is a very nice size with plenty of checkout lines. They stay well stocked. If there's a day that they don't have what you want, then you're just too late. The cashier's are awesome and so are their security guards. A cashier named Anabel was very helpful and her personality would keep customers coming back. read more

I don't frequent this one much as the customer service isn't the greatest. The location is great but I'd rather go to Big Lots around the corner. Went in for a handful of items and this Hispanic woman waits on me. I said hello and didn't get a response so after she finds up my items and I get the change she proceeds to put the plastic bags on the rack. I hand her my change and she says "just a second. She's getting the bags ready for the next people." Excuse me? Where do they do that? Can't say I won't go there again but it won't be my first choice. This is really a great store. I can not believe that they have some of my favorite snack and they are actually a dollar. They have strawberry big league chew and barbecue corn nut. While visiting the store on 7/24/19, I was very disappointed with the the type of service I received. My husband and I were shopping and while Shopping, an Asian male whom I'm guessing is the loss prevention and he followed us around the entire store. He appeared to be single and my husband and myself out throughout the entire store. He would follow us down every aisle and he would pretend as if he was shopping. While waiting to check out to purchase our merchandise, he still behind my husband very close invading his personal space. I felt we were racially sinner and he was very blatantly wrong. I plan on riding to the Better Business Bureau regarding this store and it's type of service because the service was horrible and the store was in total disarray. read more

There's nothing more appealing than a neatly laid discount store. Since this store is brand spanking new, everything is neatly organized and in ample supply! I was happy to have a discount store open so close to my parent home. It's so accessible and convenient....this may be my new favorite spot when I go home. This used to be a church and it works so much better as a discount store....I know I'm horrible.. Pros- Neats Loads of merchandise Really cute finds! My sister got the gorg mason jars with mini chalk boards on them..SUPER CUTE! Aisles are organized. Ample parking. Cons- Staff is a bit inexperienced. They aren't really sure where the product is located. One of the workers told us the completely wrong aisle to find their glassware. Not a lot of carts. Kind of first come, first serve. When I saw the sign that a 99 cent only store is coming to where this old church used to be, I couldn't wait to shop here. I usually go to the 99 cent only store on Hawthorne and a few blocks from 120th street. So I was happy that I don't have to travel that far to get discounts. When store first opened months ago, it had stuff that I didn't see at other 99 cent only stores. Which is great. It was very clean. Which is great. Most of the shopping crowd I encountered were elderly and retired. The rest were people like me...decent respectable shoppers. Which is also great. The workers in the store are hit and miss. You can tell by the ones who are happy to actually have a job. They will smile at you or ask if you need any help. Then you have the ones with attitude, that will look at you like you are crazy when you ask them what isle blah blah blah is or any question. Well guess what? None of the isles are categorized. So it's only right to ask someone who works there. Duh. Also, there are two parking lot entrances/exits on 85th street. One near Crenshaw and one far from Crenshaw. If you want to use 85th street exit and you are turning left, DO NOT USE THE ONE NEAR CRENSHAW. Traffic is usually backed up on east 85th. If you use 85th street exit near Crenshaw and you are making a left turn down 85th, it may take you a while until traffic clears. If you want to exit on 85th street and turn left, always use the 2nd exit far from Crenshaw. Traffic usually doesn't affect this exit/entrance. Despite that, the good outweighed that bad few. The best way to tell if a 99 cent only store is great is when you go in there for one thing and come with a billion other things lol. That's how things initially were. Fast forward to now. The store shelves are empty on about 20-35% of each isle. I'm not sure if this is attributed to benefits day on the 1st of the month for welfare recipients or what. Maybe they bought up all the good stuff. I don't know. But I couldn't find anything I wanted. Also, I went on lunch break. There are teens loitering inside and outside the store. It is a school day. These are school hours. These teens should be in school. Yet this store is now a loitering spot for teens cutting class. Sitting on cars in parking lot. Intimidating the elderly and retired crowds who frequent this store. I was walking around store, texting on my 128gb iPhone 6. One punk turned around like exorcist. I was thinking to myself if you even try to take anything of mine, I will give you the ass whipping your parents should've given you. I also noticed that a lot of items on the shelves are being pilfered. There are thieves every where you go. But come on? Every isle I walked down had some packages torn opened with most or all of the contents missing. At least 6 pkgs per isle. Even the cheap condoms on the end of the isle had boxes torn open and condoms stolen. Wow. People are putting their freedom on the line for 99 cent merchandise lol? Where is loss prevention? Where is security? They don't even have security. Ugh this is Inglewood. There are some bad people who live over here as well. Customers are shopping here with no security. This proves that if you put something nice in an area where bad crowds have easy access, they will destroy it. Can't believe this store went down like it has, so fast. My mother actually liked going to this store until today. She told me that she will resume going to her old 99 cent only store on Hawthorne. Because she doesn't feel safe at this store. This is a fairly new store. The store is very clean and neat. Immediately, I assume I was going to have a great experience. All was going well until I got to the fresh produce section. I was immediately greeted by fruit flies. It was just disgusting. How can a store be so clean and not take notice that their fruit is rotten. The manager and cashier were very nice. I love this 99 Cents Store! I go there 2-3 times a week because it has everything I could ever need. The lines are sometimes long, but that's expected when you live in the jam packed city of Los Angeles. The employees are great as well. There's one in particular that I really like. She has an accent. I think her name is Dion or Dionne. Nonetheless, she brings a certain spice and energy to the team. She's outgoing, friendly, yet firm. You can tell that she loves her job! I love going to the 99 to see what's new and what's still there that I like to buy. Sometimes I get agitated because in some 99 cent stores lines tend to be too long and after that I usually don't go back too often. The 99 has loads of customers , you would think it would be well stocked with cashiers NOT! I still love it though, because the 99 always surprise me with a great product. Dont waste your time or energy patronizing this location. On any given day the lines are going down the aisles with 2 checkstands open. Customers walk in the store shop and walk out without paying. If you ask someone who works in the store if a line will be opening your met with the explanation of what they need to do. Customer service is definitely not a priority. read more

Nothing in the store is 99 cents anymore, everything is $1.29 and up no longer a bargain store. I bought Express Fresh bag of lettuce a month ago it was $1.29 week later $1.49 now $1.99. I think 99cents stores are going to close permanently. Dollar Tree is only $1.25. A lot of items are mis- priced and register rings up wrong price. Ridiculous. I'll buy my lettuce at Walmart from now on much cheaper. read more

As it was my turn for the cashier to ring me up, never once did she greet me, she had a bad attitude towards me for whatever reason. So she didn't ask me if I wanted a bag or not she just threw my stuff in the bag, I don't like my household products in the same bag as my food items, alondra never gave eye contact but you can tell by her facial expressions that she had an attitude‍ but what I don't get the lady in front of me she spoke too and my daughter that was after me she spoke to and told her thank you, I asked my daughter like hold up she spoke to you but did not speak to me, that's rude, alondra looked up and rolled her eyes. I always come to this store because it's new and it's down the street from my house, but I'll most likely end up going to another store. I went there with my husband and two kids last night and the security guard was staring at him while I was in line waiting to pay for our things. The cashier asked us to come to her register because she just opened up. My husband was done putting the stuff on the checkstand, then he walked over towards the front door to put our basket back in the stack. My husband noticed the guard looking at him and he asked him if there was a problem because he's staring at him. The guard said no at first, then he changed his mind I guess and tapped my husband on the arm, while pointing to his jacket pocket asking him "Did you come in with that?" The guard was referring to the juice bottle in his pocket. My husband responded and said yes. Then he asked the guard why he isn't asking anyone else questions? My husband took the bottle out of his pocket, and pointed out the fact that this store doesn't even sell that item. My husband came in with the juice in his pocket. Maybe if the guard was paying attention when we came in, he wouldn't be making mistakes and accusing people of stealing. I mean think about it...If he wanted to steal, he wouldn't be clumsy enough to let the bottle show. He'd be trying to hide it, right? I think my husband was wrongfully profiled, and it was embarrassing. I understand that security have to watch people, but that was just too extra how that juice bottle made my husband a suspect. What's next? Will you start checking women's purses? Have some hardcore evidence if you're going to stare and accuse someone of stealing. Did you see him put it in his pocket? This store has made the right adjustments to earn four stars. It has a nice layout, fast service, and good selections.

Every time I go into this store the checkout lines are down the isles. Today was worse than any other time. As a few customers tried to talk to the manager, he would not come out and just kept saying he was "busy." I don't see how the manager can't figure out that he needs more people working between 9am to 4:30pm. If I can see when more help is needed and I've only been a few times, why can't he??? read more

This by far the nicest 99 cent store Ive EVER shopped in!!! I thought this was a BRAND NEW store. I was beyond shocked at how clean and organized this store was, and its been open 3 years!!!! Great customer service!! Lady security guard (blk, lightskinned, short women, sorry I didnt get her name but i want the credit of gr8 service to go to the right person) saw me walking around with an armful of items, brings me a little cart and applogizes! For what I no idea but thank you!! Then its finally time to checkout, Deborah, gr8 job making me feel welcomed and helping me see my 30plus min drive would definitely be worth it! I have a store 1 block away and it looks NOTHING like this!! I only came for 1 thing, however with a store this organized, clean, no expired food products, or nats flying around why wouldnt I spend more money! Two reviews said it used to be a church. It was some kind of school affiliated with the Academy Church on the next street on Manchester, which used to be a movie theater. But before that, going way back, the school was a Safeway Supermarket before the chain abandoned California. And that's what it looks like, a sixties style supermarket.This is the biggest 99 Cents Store I have ever seen. The one a half mile up on Century has become horrible. They narrowed the aisles and jam boxes of cans in front of the shelves making it difficult to get through. And there are frequent spills in there so it smells nasty. This one the aisles are wide and the deli/frozen food section is huge. It is more busy than when it first opened, but it is much less crowded than the Century store. It is usually well stocked, but it is pretty standard at all the discount merchandisers there are days when they get low or run out of certain items like that $2.99 toilet paper. And any pilfering is pretty standard at all similar stores in the area. The idea it isn't safe to shop in is a joke. read more
