A lot of empty shelves and it was slim pickings for graduation-related items. Beggars cannot be choosers and I picked some items of what they had left. So why 4 stars you may ask...David at the front desk. Super nice and focused guy. I watched him cheerfully greet everyone who walked in through that door whether they acknowledged him or not. I'm not sure if this particular Party City is going out of business, possibly shifting their sales floor around, or if inventory is simply flying off of their shelves but man!! This place is seriously depressing af. Im not sure if anyone else can relate but Targét is the first place I think of whenever it comes to any/all of my needs and while it doesn't always work out, I gravitate towards them automatically. Thank you @LizS for the PC recommendation since I needed color coordinating sweets for an upcoming family gathering. With the name "Party City," I honestly shouldn't have needed the heads up... but I did. LMAO. There isn't really much to rave about aside from the store actually carrying the few items I needed. Writing my review here because for some reason the Pleasanton location is not registering on Yelp. Anyways, they're having a closing sale at their Pleasanton location and there is some great deals to be had. I'm talking a third of a dollar to two dollars for any item in the store. One of the balloons was not tied well enough, so it immediately flew away after I got them out of the car. Two days later, the remaining 2 balloons were half deflated. This store is closing. So, sales are everywhere. We went in and grabbed an item which was $11.00 with 20% off ($8.80). However, when the cashier rang us up it was for $9.50...before tax. She brought the manager over only for her to state the store policy of, "we can't change any price". I said, fine but there needs to be truth in advertising. And there isn't that here. She repeated we can't change the price. The mgr was not only not helpful, but indignant. I know the difference was not much but we walked out on principle alone. Someone (not me) needs to teach that mgr the meaning of customer service. read more

I couldn't be happier with the balloons I ordered from Party City (Blossom Hill). I ordered 4 balloon bouquets (great prices) and all of our guests commented on how cool they looked. But I want to emphasize that the customer service was 5-star. The party was for my husband's 50th birthday and I was completely scattered when I was at the store. The person who helped me with the order was so knowledgeable and patient. I had no idea what to order and she helped me figure it all out. The balloon bouquets were delivered perfectly on time, and wrapped very carefully. Like I said, I couldn't be any happier with my experience. The good: There's plenty of parking and they have curbside pickup. It's a great place to get helium and balloons. I've come here several times for baby shower, birthday, graduation and themed party gear. I like that the aisles are separated by theme and that they have a great Halloween selection during that season. Costumes here are nicely organized by photos on the wall. The bad: I ordered number balloons (1, 0, 3) in red (online they said it was available) but the store called me and said they didn't have it. So, they offered me the alternative colors and I chose gold. They were supposed to be ready at 10:30 am. I came for curbside pickup and at 10:40 they had 1 & 0 in red but no 3 even though I already said all gold was fine. So they went to blow it up. It was 11 and I was still sitting at curbside pickup. I ended up walking inside to check on it and it was sitting there ready but no one brought it out to me. It pushed me off my schedule for my grandma's 103rd birthday. They don't have 40" number balloons (but Amazon does for $5). The 32" balloons are $15 each. Two of my three balloons flew off from the string because the strings were not tied tightly to the balloon. I read that another reviewer had this happen to him. I suggest that staff double or triple knot their balloons to the strings in the future. The interesting: The store sign says "the discount party store." I don't recall them advertising themselves as the discount store before. Most items aren't that discounted. read more

Went this morning to grab some things for a party this weekend . Day after Halloween and was shocked at how horribly messy the store was. The left over Halloween stuff wasn't as scary as trying to maneuver around the store! It has just opened and you could see in the eyes of the crew that was working that they were in just as much of a shock as the customers were. I felt so sorry for the people working I have to deal with this. Ralph snd His colleague were very empathetic to everyone that was coming in and apologizing for the condition of their store. Whoever had work the night before had left it in such a manner. It all boils down to management, he should never have allowed us to look like that today nor Should be subject to their employees to having to come in and fix such a mess. Everyone else Halloween is going to be a very very hectic time. Management should've been present at the closing on the door in order to make sure that it was tidy for the next day. I find it to be very disrespectful to the people working there as well as the customer. I would've only given it 2 stars but the. Other two stars are for the employees that were working morning and how they were so polite and still nice to everyone that walked in in light of starting their morning in such chaos. read more

I was on a time crunch ran in to get a bag and wrapping paper. The line was long and moving slow. The employees didn't seem to find the urge to move things along. what was worse is I decided last min to get a ballon to add on. I did not think it would take so long. I then waited for 10 min while this lady who worked there stood at the counter and didn't even ask me what I was waiting for. After 15 min I then told her I'm on a time crunch and would like to get my one small ballon filled up she said no problem and still continued to do other things. I waited more trying to hold my tongue while she totally disregarded that I was the only person waiting for a ballon and she was to busy doing nothing. I asked her for a second time but then my husband came into the store to tell me we don't have time anymore. I didn't have time to get a refund as well. All together I waited about 20 min just for a small ballon that I paid for to get blown up with no other customer waiting for balloons at that times. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen. I don't know who is in charge of hiring people to work for this store but you might want to actually hire people who want to work. First time leaving a review and its a negative one. Please train your staff, they are lazy and rude. Came to buy a balloon and we went to the counter to have it inflated. The guy told us to just get one of their displays since its the same thing. It's clearly dusty and been sitting there for quite awhile. How long does it take to inflate a freaking balloon?! even said its going to take 15 minutes which clearly didn't take that long to discourage us and take their display. Another thing is I asked if they have a specific balloon in stock and the lady told me that all the ones in the display is all they have. She didn't even bother taking a look. We found the balloon once we were walking out and asked for exchange with the one we settled with but they wouldn't allow us. I paid for two mylar balloons to be filled here on 12/24 at 3pm. The cashier had a bit of a hard time with one, said she was afraid she would like a hole in it, and had another associate fill it up. 9 hours later, one of the balloons was considerably deflated. Not a huge issue. I went back on 12/26 to ask about getting it inflated again. Cashier said they can re-inflate the balloon, but checked with her manager just in case. Henry the manager saunters up and gives me attitude. Doesn't understand my situation, made no effort to understand it (I bought the balloons and just paid to have them filled), and MaNsPlAiNeD why they can't help me and how I should have called as soon as it happened (yes, I should have called them at 12:30AM on Christmas morning). Huge shrug and eyebrows up like he was saying "not it". Once I explained to him, he still said he wasn't sure. Like I was trying to scam him. Through all of this, he's rolling his eyes and his tone and body language screamed apathy. He grudgingly said he'd have to ask his manager Catherine tomorrow. Before I left, I told him his customer service skills are severely lacking, especially as a manager. He condescendingly told me again that because it's not their balloons, he's not sure. It's just a fill. They can't replace the balloon (I've now reiterated about 4 times that I wasn't asking for them to replace a balloon). I told him that regardless of the message he's giving me, his tone and how he's delivering the message leaves a lot to be desired, especially for someone working in customer service. He once again rolled his eyes and said I'M SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY. Wow. WOW. Hopefully I'll get my balloon refilled, and then I'll never set foot in this establishment again. I just wasted time and gas in this extreme heat to go pick up my order after receiving an email confirmation on Saturday that it was ready (three days ago) to leave there with nothing. Mind you this is a second time recently I have had issue with pickup at this store. Today it was they can't find my order number in their system which they say means it was put back in stock but nobody even bother to call or email me. That is the annoying because it's only been 3 days and most stores let you know at least via email they are going to cancel. They didn't even offer to go look for it in the back (online said they had 4) or check if they had anymore elsewhere. I'm pretty sure they just didn't want to go look for it. Went all the way to South San Jose because I was at downtown and didn't want to drive to Milpitas for Party City then drive to West San Jose for VF, Cheesecake Factory. I received great help from this lady. I was looking for invitations and party favors and whatnot for my Daughter's birthday party happening in June. I was specifically looking for the Disney theme: Tangled. Baffled because I couldn't see it and we went through the aisles twice. I was about to give up and order online when the lady pointed out a small section, probably smaller than the size of my review for this place at the end of the aisle, at the very front but towards the bottom... there were not many selections.. just invitations (comes in a pack of 8), table covers, napkins, cups, party favor bags, and a ribbon.. When we were done there was only 1 line that formed at the balloons. There were 2 associates blowing up balloons.. impatient I asked them if this is the line to get ring up.. they said, "Yes" and then asked this guy to ring us up.. he saw us waiting, not just me as there were others behind me and went about his business scanning merchandise.. WTF. The lady that originally helped me rang me up.. although that lady was awesome but that alone could not sway my feelings about this place. Party City is great to pick up party supplies...duh However, the level of helpfulness of the employees are quite lacking. I came just for balloons to celebrate a friend's birthday. There was one customer ahead of me who was being helped, while 2 other employees were near by at another register and restocking. The customer ahead of me was being picky and so I was forced to wait (not Party City's fault), but I did not appreciate that the 2 employees who were nearby that chose not to help me. The employees were not busy with any customer, but decided to stay at where they were. It took 15mins before the on duty manager came from the back to tell one of those 2 employees to help me. The employee who assisted me was then, very helpful and polite. The only downfall of this place is the employees have to be told what to do. Not happy with the service here at all. First it was a graduation balloon boutique. I called to verify that my order was ready for the day and the guy on the phone told me to hold on so he could check. He came back on the line and said yes it's ready. I left my house not even 10min away from their location. When I get there they hand me my balloons and one is completely deflated. They said oh I was going to call you and tell you that it was deflated and we believe there is a hole in it. I was in shock! I told them you got to be kidding me? They said no sorry and we dont have no more graduation balloons. I laughed and said well I want a refund than for that balloon. Than all of a sudden they found graduation balloons. At this point I was already upset with this place because I just spoke to them on the phone no more than 15 min before. They told me I needed to pay for the new balloon that they were going to replace for the one that had a hole in it. I ended up just paying for it because I was so frustrated with the situation. Now today I go there to pick up birthday balloons again a balloon is deflating again and the lady said oh it's not your balloon dont worry about it. I get to my car it's almost completely deflated. I didn't go back inside because of the amount of frustration I had and the first time I could let it go if they did a good job on this set of balloons, but shame on me giving them another chance. Honestly , I've been here many times and I can say it's one of the cleanest locations in the area , and my favorite and everyone is always so friendly here. It's retail people , they have to deal with us. I went in yesterday and some lady was cussing out the cashier because her own balloon popped that she bought from Amazon and they were willing to replace it and she tells him to F off and causes a scene ? This was by far the worst experience of customer service on the phone and then in person. First I want to say I would usually place an order at the Saratoga location, but the event I was going to was in South San Jose which made this one more convenient. Anyhow, upon calling to place a balloon order a very unprofessional woman picked up and I had asked if I can place an order over the phone for balloons, and she says, "Well do you know what you're going to order because they're very busy". Seriously? That's how you're going to speak to a customer that makes your location money? Of course she wouldn't understand that she is a key component in bringing customers to purchase items from that location as well as maintain current business because she's ignorant. I placed my order and that was that. So Saturday comes and my order was supposed to be ready by 11:00am. I was running quite late, but upon arrival at 12:30PM I really didn't feel the need to sit in the line that was outrageous for balloons so I walked up to the register and I was helped by someone else I believe Erin on the phone whom said if I pick up the balloons we can return it so I can use a 40% off coupon to purchase it again. The lady at the register name Michele, goes,"Umm, I don't know about that, and they're very busy." What a nostalgic voice of stupidity, same person who I spoke to on the phone and I continue to hear her say to customers calling in by phone, "They're very busy." Lady you're going to drive away business what are you thinking? If this lady worked for me I'd fire her (afterthought, I wouldn't even have hired her). Anyhow, I'm waiting for my order and come to find out my order isn't even ready? Are you serious??? This is by far the most disorganized place ever and it just makes it worse when the young man making the balloons is complete tool and dumbfounded at any questions. If you want your balloon order to be ready on time I recommend not going to this location or telling them you need it earlier. This place is horrible and I am never returning and going to advise others not to come to this location.
