AMAZING children's boutique you won't want to miss. We happen upon this precious shop while staying for a ZZ Top concert at the Mountain Winery. We have a 3 month old and I couldn't resist checking it out after seeing the adorable dresses and sun hats out front. Cathy greeted us and was very helpful. I have NEVER seen the brands she carries anywhere in Northern CA, and I've since become a bit obsessed with them. Cathy said she will be more than happy to ship to my house and to call if I see something I like so she can pull it for me. I can't wait to go back in the future and shop again. I had avoided entering this store for a while. I knew I would encounter the kind of pretentious, small minded attitude that makes shopping in WG annoying. You know- the not so subtle glance at the left hand to see what type of ring you are wearing to see if you can afford the items. Once I "passed" the test, the saleswoman proceeded to talk about the only good strollers out there (i.e. anything that costs at least $600). Cute stuff, but not sure I will be back. Heaven forbid that my hands start swelling and I don't wear my rings and they can't tell if I have enough $$. Petit Bateau, Bugaboo, and Petunia Pickle Bottom are a few of the brands that they carry. I'm not cheap, but I am not sure that a drooling baby really cares if it has designer duds. read more

Drove specifically here to look at Beco baby carriers - I saw it on the shop's website, as well as Beco's website. Walked in and there was one girl sitting at the register - she greeted me, but I couldn't even see her since she didn't bother getting up. Asked if they had any baby carriers, and she told me they didn't sell them anymore, but that they could order it for me. Pointless trip. read more

Just bought my neice a pinkish purple skulls & cross bone beanie from here, it was wayyyy too cute!!! I just love it!! I'm planning on coming back to get my son a black and white one as well. Wish they'd had more sizes!!!! They just got shipment in today and there was only 1 of each.. Which makes me feel like my purchase was special-er ( lol) But the boys one was too small.. I've been shopping at Kook Kids Couture for many years. I've recently purchased gifts for my clients new grandbabies. I have to tell you every time I go in to Cathy's store she has it so beautifully decorated and always has the most amazing children's clothes and gifts. One time I needed a gift and could not leave my work before Kool Kids closed. I called and Cathy was so wonderful and offered to bring my gift to my work gift wrapped and all. Kool Kids... Not cool at all. Im so disappointed. I've shopped here regularly for my youngest who's nearly 5. I also buy all special event dresses and gifts here. And, since the Creeping Ivy opened in back, I've bought several gorgeous potted plants and garden decor from Vicky, too. I've enjoyed shopping and stopping by to say hello, and equally as much supporting locally owned small businesses. The regular clerks know me well and if not by name, definitely by sight. In February, I bought 2 of the cutest spaghetti strap, floral print, handkerchief hemline dresses, at $74.00 each. I needed 4 and ended up ordering 2 additional from another source, as they weren't planning to get others. I also purchased matching pink cowgirl boots at $50+ a pop. The outfits were for Easter pictures. Unfortunately, due to multiple hospitalizations, we are not able to have the pictures done as planned. The girls all loved their dresses and couldn't wait for the right opportunity to wear them. In August I heard complaints from the other two moms that the dresses "fell apart". I was stunned and questioned them about wear, care and washing. They'd followed the printed directions on the label. I asked both to return the dresses to me... sadly, they'd both thrown them away. My daughter had worn hers only twice until then... Special occasions. It had been delicate washed in a garment bag, hung to dry. I used a steamer to release wrinkles, as done in the shop. She wore it again recently and I washed it for the second time following the same process. When I took it out of the garment bag the seams had frayed and the dress ruined beyond repair. I returned it to Kool Kids yesterday and left it with a new clerk, an explanation, my name and number for Cathy later in the day. I also left 4 other items on hold and 2 items from the Creeping Ivy to purchase when I returned to finalize the issue with the dress. Cathy phoned me in the afternoon and immediately questioned how I cared for the dress, which I explained. She challenged me with, "really, because it looks like you just threw it in with the regular wash." Trying to understand her perspective, I reminded her that I'd been a regular there for years and that I'd spent a lot of money on kids' clothes, so I am well aware of how to properly care for her clothes and do so. She pushed back again... "Wow, because no one else has had a problem with these dresses; no others have been returned." Cathy... I bought 4 total... 3 were gifts, if them one was an infants dress..., 3 fell apart! The other two mothers live out of the area and threw the away." She then said she'd email the manufacture about it. Ok, I told her, but I have other items there that i planned to purchase when you were there and we resolved this with a store credit refund. Yes, of course, she said and told me she'd be there until 6-630. After leaving my dr appt I went to Kool Kids. Cathy again challenged me on how I cared for the dress, which I again explained. She then said that she looked up the purchase records and saw they were purchased in February. I agreed, but told her they were for Easter pictures in April, but that I'd become ill again and was re-hospitalized and we were not able to have the pictures taken. I told her the dress had been washed twice it, and like the others, it fell apart in the second washing. She then said, yes, but I haven't heard back from the company yet and you did get some use of it, so I'll refund you some money, but not all because you used it. I surprised at what I was hearing. Excuse me? She repeated the same. The dress was worn twice... It's a summer dress... Look at it. Yes, but you did use it. I told her to keep the dress and to get what she could from the manufacture and keep that too. As I turned to leave without the dress and without the purchases I'd planned on making, she said "oh... ok then, I'll keep it... Bye". I've had 3 other garments purchased there that I found to have construction flaws and another that lost the stitching even before wearing. Each of those I returned to the store only to find the size I needed to be sold out, with no plans for another shipment or if a reorder was possible, the replacement would not be received in time of the need. I was pleased in those occasions, as the then store manager, offered to have the garments repaired by her mother, a seamstress. The repairs were made beautifully and I was not charged. I was left with the impression that Kool Kids had extraordinarily cool customer service! However, i know now it was the kindness of one individual, who sadly is no longer there, and not the customer service policy of Kool Kids. Won't be going back. read more

This high end children's boutique in the heart of downtown Willow Glen is adorable! Expect to pay more than Babies R Us, but the owner carries unique pieces that you won't necessarily find elsewhere. I've purchased numerous gifts for my friends/family with children & all have been special good quality items. In fact, I just recently purchased a baby scarf for my employers daughter & she loved it! This place is darling! Such a nice change from the standard baby clothing fare. A little on the higher priced side but for the quality of the clothes, totally worth it. Went sidewalk cruisin' downtown WG today, and even my hubby, the penny pincher, thought a dress in the window was to cute to pass up for our 18 month old. I live in San Francisco and I drive all the way to Kool Kids Couture to go shopping. That must tell you something about Kool Kids. The store is a small boutique shop that has all the top name brands of cloths from Europe and organic cloths. Price are good. For me its worth the 45 min drive from San Francisco. If you ever want nice cloth for your young one this is the place. The owner is very friendly and helpful she doesn't push you to buy. She has a great taste for baby-kids cloths. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. We moved to San Jose 2 years ago from Manhattan. I was soooooooo happy to find Kool Kids. I have 2 boys that are both slender and tall. Carters and other brands do not fit my guys. Although the prices are higher, it's well worth the expense. The quality of the clothes is amazing. Both of my boys wear the outfits and then we hand them down to their little friend. When the little guy comes to play I think, "wow, he looks so good, I loved that outfit!!" The clothes will be outgrown before they will wear out. The Owner is super cool. And, she stands behind the brands she sells. I have only had trouble with a top on one occasion, no question, she takes it back. And, toys in the back for the little guys to play while I shop - that rules!!! Just went into this little gem on Lincoln Ave to get a 1st bday gift and get ideas for outfits for family pictures. It never disappoints, I left with an adorable outfit that I know no one else at the party will be giving. Everything here is unique and not what I will find at the mall. I always leave feeling like I got something special. I also not only got inspiration for my girls outfits for our family photos, I got outfits... The perfect outfits, that I had envisioned for them. Again, something I would not have found at the mall without lots of time and searching! Thanks for having such a great selection. The owner is very welcoming to the parents (okay, we're mostly moms and grandmas) and the kids. I found Kool Kids today so that I could pick out an outfit fir my friends' new baby boy. The store was in a great location and very easy to find! I walked in, and immediately helped by a friendly worker, this worker happened to be the owner and she was fantastic, I have never shopped for babies before and she gave me all of her input and knowledge which was very useful to me. I ended up finding the perfect one-zee for the baby, during checkout i expected to throw the one-zee in my motorcycle vest pocket but she wrapped it for me and put it in a very nice bag all ready to give as a gift!! I loved it and and so did my friends!! It was a very successful trip to Kool Kids, and i will do my baby shopping here from now on, which is rare but still will recommend this place to anyone looking for A+ service and 100% satisfaction looking for the right gift or for your own children. This store is absolutely ADORABLE. There is only high quality products available and the cutest fashions for boys and girls. I especially love the fabrics, there is nothing itchy or uncomfortable in any way - my daughter is very picky about that. The prices are in-line with quality products - you get what you pay for. My husband starting shopping at this store 2-3 years after the birth of our daughter. I thought the prices were expensive but that didn't stop him especially after he bought a poncho for her and got rave reviews from everyone on how cute it was on her. So his old roommate in Illinois was about to have a little baby girl and my husband decided that he wanted to buy a poncho as a gift. We went in to order it and everything seemed OK (oh - I agree with one review that it is hard to move around with a stroller in the store). He paid up front and was told that he would get a call when it came in. After a couple of weeks, he was wondering when the poncho would arrive. He called the store and left a message. No response. He emailed. No response. Finally he had me go down to the store to find out what happened. I went in and spoke with another person who said that she didn't order the item and would need to speak with the other woman who wasn't there at the time. When I told her that my husband had called and emailed and had not received a response, she said the other woman was in charge of that and had been handling another project so was probably busy to respond to him. I'm sorry but that isn't very good customer service. She tells me she will contact the woman and get back to me but adds that the poncho was made to order. No one said that when we ordered it. I saw the poncho website with all the different colors. I saw at least 7 ponchos hanging next to the register when I was talking to her. Made to order? Anyways, I got a call later. The item would come either Saturday or Monday and we would get a call when it came in. Monday comes and no call. By Wednesday, I call and hear that the item hasn't come in. Good customer service would have called us and told us this instead of us calling in looking for it. So the sales person tells me that she has told the maker to rush deliver it and if it didn't come in the next day, she would go to another store and buy it full price. Full price? What did she mean by that? It wasn't like we got a discount. So, we finally got the poncho but it took 4 weeks to get it. Knowing that this poncho was a gift, they could have told me that they would ship it for us for free. Or they could have had the item shipped directly to us instead of me having to drive back and forth to their store. I have a fussy newborn so going over there isn't a walk in the park. So after all this, my husband & I have decided we will not be going back to this store. Bad customer service! read more
