I don't Yelp anymore. It's been years, really. But sometimes you just have to give staff their flowers: I work over a number of states and stay at a hundred hotels. In Pasadena, your best bang for the buck is always this place. And over the last couple years that decision was made because of one person - Alexa. Here's the thing - I like a particular room on the ground floor because it's easy to load all my work materials in and out. I book through a 3rd party app (sorry, job thing for the points) so I book then call to request that room. In years past Alexa and I had just exchanged the typical check-in pleasantries and that was all. Pleasant, courteous and informative with any of my Q's. But I switched jobs and hadn't been back in the area for about a year. Now I'm back and my territory now includes SoCal again. I booked, and called. Alexa picked up and without me even telling her my name first she informed me that she'd seen the booking and knew that this guest (from a year prior!) preferred a particular room and had already put me in that one. This has happened a few times since and each time, I'm still impressed. I don't expect this nor should anyone. For someone that's on the road as often as I am, I see a lot of faces at hotels and they blur together after awhile so I assume it's similar on their end. But I really just have to say it's so rare to have someone who has a 'few times a year' 30-second exchange with me be so good at her job that I'd never go anywhere else. And when I'm doing business in the area, I rave. Apart from that - very clean rooms. Everything works as it should. Parking is ample and safe. Just wanted to take the time to share my experience to let the owner know that, through the years, she's really done a lot to make me feel welcome and taken care of. They're lucky to have her. read more

I stayed here on Friday, April 24, 2026, as I do quite often. That evening they only had a one bed room available so, I took it. The next morning, prior to check out, I inquired about a 2 bed room and was told that they had one but, I would have to wait until the afternoon. I agreed and they charged my credit card $160.29 for the stay on Saturday, April 25, 2026. I had an important appointment across town that I needed to keep so, I left to get to the appointment and expected to get back to the hotel around the time that the room became available. Unfortunately, I encountered serious vehicle issues and was not able to get back to the hotel. I also did not want to get stuck in the dark trying to get across town to the hotel. I tried to call the hotel later that evening but, it just kept ringing and ringing, until it timed out, and I was never able to reach anyone. Early the next morning (April 26th), I tried calling again but, it still just kept ringing until it timed out. I was finally able to physically go to the hotel and speak with Mary a bit after 2am. She told me that I would have to wait until after 9:30 or 10 am and speak with David, the GM. I called at 11:21 am and told another man there what happened and he told me to speak with David at 3pm. I spoke with David at 3:29pm and told him that I had planned to be there when the room was ready but, I had serious vehicle issues and no way to get to the hotel. I mentioned that I tried to call, no one answered, and that I finally spoke with Mary, who told me that I had to speak with him. He said that Mary starts at 11pm and I should have called sooner. I explained that had I not been stuck across town without transportation and dealing with serious vehicle issues, I would have but, I did try to communicate as soon as I could. I told him that I just wanted to be able to stay for one night to use the one night for which I paid. It is unfortunate because, even though this place was not the best, most well kept hotel, it was conveniently located and most of the staff, up to this point, seemed nice enough. At this point, I have no interest in ever staying here again. I would just like a full refund. read more

If you want to decide whether to come here or not just take a look at the thumbnail photo--it will explain it all. The place is drab and prisony-looking. And the staff is not nice. They are all very straight-faced and dry. They called me at exactly 11:02am for checking out, and when I asked to extend my check-out for an hour, which costs ten dollars btw, he very dryly said, "ok will see you at 12pm." When we went to the lobby to check out and I was asking the clerk (this Asian guy) about the coffee, his response was really haughty, dismissive and very dry. Used this property as part of a multi-month temporary assignment, and it was a very positive experience. A great value as well. Not fancy, yet modern, well maintained and very clean. Front desk check-in was friendly and accommodating. Chris was very helpful The room was very clean, but the decor was somewhat dated. I understand this hotel was recently changed from a national chain brand to what felt like a smaller organization. The style of the lodging is two story motel. We were here for only one night. Hotel is located right on Colorado Boulevard, so there was some street noise. The pool looked to be in good repair and clean although we didn't use it. They offer a complementary breakfast although we did not partake. Our only concern was that there was a kerfuffle when we checked out. Our card had been charged three times for the amount of the single night lodging. This was explained as there was a problem with my card, and they couldn't get the extra charges removed. We settled that we would keep an eye on the issue with the credit card company and if things didn't resolve in a few days, we would reconnect. Happily, the issue was sorted out, the additional charges were removed exactly right and we had no problem. This is a reasonably priced hotel for the Pasadena area and it's well located. It was clean and offered everything we needed. It's not the Ritz, but if you're looking for clean, not fancy room at an economical rate, this place could be worth a go. read more

You get what you pay for. Not terrible though. Breakfast came in clutch, front desk was fast, and showers were hot. It's just like an apartment, when people are walking in the hallways and closing the doors... yes you can hear it. But once you're in your room and they're in their room.. you can't hear a peep! A lot of traffic on our way to universal but the area felt pretty safe and that was most important to me. read more

Booked a room as a local stay due to plumbing issues in our home. Just wanted a reasonably priced, clean and comfortable stay and this place did the job. It's been awhile since I've seen such a clean room. We stay in big vegas resort hotels all the time and those rooms don't compare to these in cleanliness. I'm pretty picky too and will look in crevices and this place was spotless! Breakfast was simple and warm. General manager and workers were friendly. I love that. Finally stayed on that first floor room which is a special wheelchair access room; don't do it folks, the noise from the hallway, you hear everyone; yes everyone on the floors above has to pass thru to get in and out. Really could help with some sound dampening under and on the door to drown out not just the closing of the outside facing door but also the hallway noise and room directly above you will hear noise from. Staff- as always is nice and efficient in their jobs. Was unable to use my stay for today, and was informed that due to the holiday, the reservation will stay (required a 48 hour cancellation) and it can't be moved. David the manager who helped me last time, referenced the conversation we had months ago. Seriously, it's been awhile and I don't remember a conversation from months ago. Also, I didn't appreciate his using "ma'am" even after I asked him not to, as I had said it grates on my nerves, that's sounds like how you would address someone much older. The Manager, David Cho is absolutely the worst hotel manager that I have ever dealt with in 20+ years of booking group stays for persons attending group events i.e. Bridge Tournaments, group excursions, etc. I tried to book rooms in advance for people who will be attending a Bridge Tournament to be held in the Pasadena, CA area during the month of July, and asked about a Group Discount rate for a guaranteed minimum of ten (10) rooms, and the manager, Cho, advised me the he would not give a discount rates in advance, because on any given day, he can book the rooms a higher rate just from walk-ins. His policy is to not give advance booking rates, because he can always charge guests higher rates on any given day. Was @ the Pasadena Rose Crown Hotel in March-April 2025 for 4days. Price was reasonable . The Manager Danny and entire Team , was very helpful from beginning reservations - thru-out my stay . They serve a very good Breakfast in nice room with outside sitting as well . Had Waffles ,Eggs, Toast , Meats, Fresh Fruit +, and was impressed with tasty Coffee . People from World over stayed their and all was happy . Maid service every day , even when i did not hang plague , very clean and all very Friendly . We had a delightful two night stay here. Unassuming from the outside but the rooms are nicely remodeled; very clean and comfortable. Our room was quiet and overlooked the San Gabriel Mts and a cute neighborhood. The staff was super friendly and helpful - they were diligent about keeping the breakfast area stocked and clean. The coffee was good and there was a nice offering for a quick simple breakfast. Didn't want to wait for the waffle maker as it was always busy but the waffles smelled good. Check in and check out was easy and again very friendly. I would definitely stay here again but sadly I don't get to SoCal often enough. read more

We stayed here recently for a swim meet at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, and we were happy with the choice. It was only 8 minutes away from the location with multiple routes available. The hotel itself was clean, accommodating, had ample parking, reasonably priced, no add-on charges, kind staff, and decent breakfast options. It was near the road and some rooms had an exterior entrance, but the majority of rooms you had to access with a key which made us feel safe. They also had an elevator which was fantastic because I have an injury and couldn't manage stairs during this trip. This place didn't have extra bells and whistles, but nonetheless it is definitely a place we would select again for accommodations if we are in need around the Pasadena area. read more

I've stayed here twice now since my daughter goes to college nearby, and this place is fantastic! First of all, we were greeted at the check-in desk by Tia. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this young woman. She is top-notch!! An absolute gem. She goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. This hotel had better keep Tia as long as possible because she makes me want to come back. Service like hers is a lost art. The rooms here are nicely updated, and the beds are very comfortable. The amenities are great too - a refrigerator and microwave in the room, plenty of pillows, even a hair dryer. The only thing that was tough to get was drinking water. There's one vending machine, which was out of water, and the office has none, so we had to walk a few blocks to get water. But that's not a big deal. I love this perfect little hotel, and will definitely be coming back often!! read more

It's basically just the building of a motel but the interior has been remodeled so it feels more like a Holiday Inn level hotel, and this place also does have rooms with doors facing an inside hallway rather than outside like a traditional motel. There was nothing for me to complain about room-wise. My room was clean, the bathroom was in excellent condition, and the beds were very comfortable. Tons of electrical outlets too which was nice. The rest of the facilities are OK. The pool is just in the middle of the parking lot, the fitness center is literally a treadmill, elliptical, and a single cable machine, and even though the site promoted 24-hour coffee/tea in the lobby it was only ever available at breakfast hours. Breakfast was what you would usually get at a Holiday Inn level hotel. A couple of hot items to choose from and then yogurt, those waffle makers, bagels, cereal, etc. Overall I have no real complaints given how inexpensive the rates were. It met my need for a place to sleep and have breakfast during my trip. I don't think anyone would really want to spend a long amount of time at the actual hotel during the day, but I don't think that's what it's claiming to be. Would definitely stay again if I needed a place in the area. read more

I've done maybe 3 or 4 reviews total over 10+ years. This hotel has a great location and the price is great. However, our room was 82 degrees upon getting there. The A/C unit was not on. We did arrive late however I called ahead and secured a late check-in. It is their policy to turn off the units in between guests (and the fridge too). There was a heat wave in Pasadena that week and they turn it off??? How about set it a little high like 76 or something reasonable where the unit can catch up once turned on? How about go and turn it on when I call and confirm my late check in? No other rooms were available. We were up all night. Room finally came down to 74 by 9am the next morning but was back up to 76 by afternoon and stayed there the rest of the stay. Also, don't expect much in the room but that is more reasonable given the nightly rate. The room temp is not reasonable. read more

To all, I suggest you read my review & all the other reviews dating back to 2019/2020 across all online platforms prior to booking your stay here. Especially if you do not want to have the police called on you due to a pricing dispute & the manager, David not knowing how to interact properly with customers who have a dispute. We booked our stay for this property for 3 nights in July. Before we paid online, we called the hotel and spoke to Chris and verified the rate was as shown online. He said it was accurate so we proceeded to book our stay. One note, the day before our arrival in Pasadena, we saw we were already billed for 1 nights stay. We arrived at the hotel prior to check in and were advised we could leave our luggage at the front desk and come back in a few hours as our room should be ready. Upon check in at the hotel, we saw the rate was not as we were quoted online or when we spoke with Chris. We went to our room to settle in and reviewed our card statement online & saw we were billed more than agreed to. We called down to the front desk and the female on duty advised us to reach out to the manager, David via email. David was very responsive by email in addressing our concerns. He initially stated there was a rate change in the hotel tax after our booking which occurred in May. The type of tax he advised, we could not find anything online indicating a hotel tax increase. We further questioned the additional fees as well as why we were not advised of this rate increase prior to our arrival and why our original rate was not honored. David then advised it was a different type of tax from what he originally advised. He was willing to refund the $4 increase. We advised the increase was more substantial than that. David advised if we do not agree with the math to come see him in person the following day. The discrepancy did not sit well with us. When we went down the next day to the lobby for the continental breakfast, we decided we would speak to David after we ate. The layout of options for the breakfast were good. You have options from breakfast sandwiches to hot or cold cereal as well as the option to make your own waffle. When we spoke to David in person at the front desk after breakfast, he kept reiterating the same thing he had said via email. He further went on to explain the hotel rate is not the total rate! For this property, unless you know California lodging fees/taxes in advance, you won't know until check in that there are additional fees that will be assessed to you. Please bare in mind when we stayed at the Westin in Pasadena, 6 months prior, we did not have any billing issues. What was quoted online was what we were billed at check in and verified at check out. During the course of our in person interaction, David became frustrated and condescending in tone. He repeated the same thing continuously and could not properly answer our questions. It became very clear that he was upset when he proceeded to raise his voice with customers present and when he came from behind his plastic barrier to tell us he was calling the police and evicting us?! This was a civil issue and he could not evict us as we had already paid. David chose to waste Pasadena Police Dept. resources and called on us over a billing dispute! As not to cause more embarrassment by him yelling at us and disrupting guests, we left the lobby and went back to our room. David called our room twice wanting to see if he could rectify the issue prior to the police arriving. We agreed to come back down. Before we could get back to the lobby, David called again and advised the police were in the lobby! He really called them!! We went and spoke with the officer and explained the situation. The officer agreed with us this was a civil matter not something for the Pasadena Police Dept.! He proceeded to leave but suggested David take us in the back office to resolve the matter so guests did not have to keep being witness to this. It is beyond embarrassing that David called the police on us because he did not know how to correct a billing dispute. We have never had the police called on us. When we went into the office, David wanted us to sit in these little chairs while he stood. We both said we felt like we were being reprimanded by the teacher! David advised he was "triggered" by the we emails sent on Friday night as he thought we were calling him a liar. We explained to him that was not the case. We need to be able to trace what he is saying in writing. If he stated hotel tax went up, we should be able to verify that online. David agreed to adjust the disputed difference we were owed for our stay. We kept things civil for the duration of our stay as we were not sure what else David would try to do & what additional personality conflict embarrassment and drama of what we experienced. read more

Super clean hotel, family-friendly amenities (microwave in the room!), comfortable beds and modern room in the heart of beautiful Pasadena. Plenty of parking and freeway-accessible too. And if you're here for the rose bowl or the parade, it's a great place to stay because the hotel is on the parade route! It made our kids experience at the parade so easy - they got great views of the parade floats and could get to the bathroom whenever needed. Affordable sexy! This spot was visually appeasing, extremely clean and comfortable. They accommodated my room with some extra towels and pillows as requested. The room has the soft nice beds with sleek furniture a mini fridge, microwave, hair dryer & TV. Therewas plenty outlets and a good pressured shower. They include breakfast (with the egg sandwiches, waffle, cereal, fruit etc. And have free parking.) Check in was easy and swift nice hotel staff too. I'll def come back. I forgot to take pix! I was too focused on my enjoyable stay while in the area for a dodger game. So that's a great thing. read more

I've not forgotten to write my review for this very nice hotel. I went to Pasadena to take the California bar exam. Because of arriving late night in Los Angeles, I spent the first night in Westxx LA airport hotel, and then I stayed for six nights in this hotel to tackle jet lag and prepare a bit for the examination, which was held in the Pasadena Convention Centre. I was allocated a room as I requested. It was really clean. And in this covid period, I'd take cleanliness as of utmost important. It was far more cleaner even than Westxx, despite the hotel charged less. And it was a quiet room which really assisted my study. During the stay, I believe I have met all of its front desk staff. All four of them were very helpful and pleasant. And during the stay, I requested to have the room cleaned up. The cleaning ladies really did a very good job. They'd even wipe clean the floor, among others. (How often would one find hotel rooms with floor not cleanly wiped. Right?) And as to the GM David, he was happy to keep himself busy in replying to customers emails prior to the stay and during the stay. It was really helpful and impressive to me. In short, I enjoyed very much my stay in the hotel. Pasadena is a nice place. If I ever visit Pasadena again, I will surely come back to the hotel. I have full confidence in the team there. Only downside is that maid service happens only in the morning and not in afternoon when most guests are out. We stayed for just one night after an event at the Rose bowl Stadium. I called the front desk ahead of time to see about getting an early check-in; the front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. They allowed us an early check-in without issue and we were off to the stadium! The rooms are very clean, updated. Loved the shower and the extra perks such as a mini fridge and thermostat controlled air conditioner. Breakfast the next morning was more than your average continental breakfast. Also included scrambled eggs, sausage, and a waffle maker. We checked out quickly. Will definitely stay here again if ever in the area. read more

The GM DAVID IS AWFUL! ***I would like to know who David manager is or who is the property manager*** I have visited Pasadena California almost 10 times within a 2yr span and have stayed at this hotel everytime for work that won't be happening anymore I will be taking my money elsewhere. On my most recent stay my husband and I stayed for nearly 2 weeks and within that 2 weeks we have had trouble from David every single day making our stay LESS THAN PLEASANT so much that we had to ask David if he just prefer us to leave because we don't mind, we are paying customers and not begging him for free stay. David likes to take his frustration be it from home or work out on customers. ***He also got our car towed which was soooo inconvenient. Prior to checking in we advised David we will be coming in with a large vehicle he said that would be no problem that we can park in their (meaning that it was owned by the hotel so we had nothing to worry about) vacant parking lot across the street. We left for dinner just to come back verrry late night I add to no vehicle, we asked David what happen to our car he said it's been towed by the lot owners and he will make some calls to get it back BUT we had to go and get the car. I did video record the whole incident because at that point it was the 3rd or 4th problem we have had with David so we started documenting everything after that. Come to find out the lot isn't owned by the hotel but by another individual. David also charged our card 6 different times when we had already paid for the night we needed making us have to wait for the refunds to be released back to the account yet again another inconvenience. He blamed all this on being "stressed and going through personal issues at home" as if that has anything to do with me! I could go on and on about the nonsense David was doing during our stay but I'm not sure if yelp allows that many characters just know that ****YOU SHOULD SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE*** read more

This place is not fancy but it is excellent value. We've stayed here several years in a row, coming in for an annual tradeshow. Very clean and the staff is very hospitable. The daily breakfast buffet isn't anything special - but they do offer something hot every day (for us, it alternated between scrambled eggs and sausage...then muffins with egg and sausage) and various other breads, fruit, yogurt and waffle maker. Again, not fancy but did the trick. There is also multiple fast food within a 5 minute walk if you prefer. We love Amigo's Mexican also with 5 minute walk. One tip - ask for rooms that are not along the parking lot walkway...those rooms have a window and other hotel guests can see right into your room as they pass unless your curtains are drawn. The mountain view rooms are lovely. read more
