My beloved 13-year-old Miele canister vacuum died. Not because it broke but, well, because it died the true death in a fire that burned down my ENTIRE COMMUNITY. But I digress. My relative took pity on me and gave me her old Miele but it needed a few repairs to get it up and running again. I talked to Robert at Pasadena Vacuum on the phone, and he was the sweetest, kindest person in the world. Talking to him was like listening to soothing ASMR videos, like a balm for the soul. He was super knowledgeable and walked me through the different options and prices. He ended up MacGuyvering together an expensive replacement part out of some of his spare parts and charged me almost nothing. He also outfitted the vacuum with a new HEPA filter and bag. BEST place to get sewing supplies. Avoid the long drive to downtown and go here. If youre mourning the death of a certain fabric store they even have quilting fabrics too. They really do have all the sewing supplies you could need BUT - the most important part of my review is how helpful the staff is. I went in as a beginner sewist to buy some stretch overlock thread, and I got a full explanation on how to properly thread the machine and what id need to use / how best to make it work. I learned so much that I wish I could just pop in whenever I have a question...luckily I found out today you can call and make an appointment for $75 for an hour to get all of your questions answered as well as a full overview of how to use your machine! read more

On the next-door app I found out that they were requesting sewing machines to be donated to a center in Mexico. I happened to have a used sewing machine laying around in the attic which I wanted to give away without having to toss it in the trash. I brought my Eureka Power Speed Vacuum to be repaired this past Saturday. Robert helped me. He was so kind and wonderful. I've never taken an appliance to be fixed before and they made it really convenient and simple. They took my vacuum in and said they would call with a quote before working on it. Originally they said the turnaround time to call me back would be a week but if they could get it done sooner they would and they did end up having it fixed for me by Wednesday. Robert fixed a Royal vacuum we bought here about twenty years ago and it works like new. The cost was unbelievably low in our case for a vaccum for which you can no longer get parts--35.00! The turnaround time was very fast and dealing with Robert and his staff is a pleasure. Highly recommend purchasing your vaccuum here (and/or bringing one in for repair). I brought my 13 year old Miele Titan to a different repair shop in the area. They gave me an estimate and then directed me to a new Miele that was less to buy new than to repair my old machine. Red flag. I picked up the vacuum and brought it to Pasadena Vacuum & Sewing Center. The estimate was less than half of the previous estimate! They rebuilt the motor and now my old machine is running like new again! Not only that but a couple of the hose heads were missing and they simply replaced them at no additional charge! Sewing is a timeless skill, unfortunately that most of us take for granted nowadays. I was lucky enough to be given a sewing machine and some free time to finally tackle a curtain project. Due to never having used a sewing machine before, I had tried to watch countless YouTube videos, in order to self teach, as most millennials do, but I was definitely missing the expert eye and touch, that only another human being could offer. I called up Pasadena Sewing and Vacuum, and spoke to Alfreda, who took the time to council me over the phone. Bless her so much, she was patient and advised me that if I still couldn't get things going, to bring down the machine so that she could take a look. To much avail, I tried and still couldn't get my thread properly loaded, so I packed up and lugged down to the beautiful shop. Alfreda, the kind soul that she is, took time and patience to show me how to properly load the thread into my new sewing machine, discovering that my "new" needles fresh out of the package, were in fact broken! She kindly loaded in a new needle, gave me a piece of cloth to practice, and viòla..IT WORKED! Alfreda, thank you for extending yourself and going above and beyond to show human kindness, which is a lost art. You gave me the ability to conquer a project I've held off many years, and courage to start new projects. My sewing machine was jamming so I took it to Pasadena Vacuum and Sewing, thinking it needed servicing. I was prepared to drop it off, as it hadn't been serviced in decades. Instead Frida looked at it right away and immediately found out what was wrong. Somehow, even tho I've been sewing for almost 70 years, I had the bobbin threaded wrong. Frida re-threaded it and tested various stitches. It was indeed dropping stitches in some patterns, but for the straight stitching I do - hemming jeans and making curtains - it was fine. Frida was so nice and helpful, and she didn't charge me for her time. I will definitely go back whenever I need sewing supplies or a new machine. read more

Robert-- kind, generous, and beyond knowledgeable with all things vacuum-- took such great care of me and my 20 year old machine! Working with my restrained/strained budget, he totally refurbished my old White Star Miele. He magically found a plug/in cord, handle, metal pipe/handle thingy, a vacuum head, filter cover, and more. He was able to clean the old girl up and get her running to how she used to back in the day. I know. It's silly how much I love my old machine, but it was one of the first "major" purchases I made as an adult (tho' living single in NYC in the 90's, I'm not sure I acted like much of an adult). It has moved across country with me 3 times, plowed through piles of Abyssinian, Anatolian, Labrador, and rescue cat hair. Go to Robert. Tell him I sent you. You'll be so glad you did. read more

Stellar, stellar, I mean STELLAR customer service!! I took my sewing machine in because, in my inexperience, I put the bobbin mechanism in very wrong. That resulted in a bent needle and the machine just jammed. Alfreda quickly took it apart and just as quickly put it back together. Then she proceeded to show me how to properly put the bobbin in, thread the machine, replace the needle, select the stitch and stitch length. All in like 5 minutes. I kid you not. She was kind, patient and just AMAZING!!! When I asked her how much for the repair, she kinda chuckled and said "That wasn't a repair." I was flooded. She did all of that for no charge. I HAD to give this woman a big hug. Love at first visit. SOLD!!! Honesty and integrity are virtues in this society. I'm going back to get my damned vacuum repaired. read more
