Ray ran multiple cycles and diagnosed a faulty ignition- sometimes on/off. After it was all done, he cleaned up and attached my door back in place. He was patient and thorough, we ran a small load if wet laundry while resetting everything and cleaning. Once he confirmed it all worked reliably, he was done. I hired Lions and they did some work to try to mitigate, but said that it would be a problem down the line. Down the line arrived and I called Lions back when my AC was dripping excessive water. Turns out it was toast and needed replacement. I got a quote for replacement from them quickly. I shopped around and theirs was a little higher than others (5-10%ish) but I felt they had a very thorough quote that explained every step they would do, so I went with them. For the install, it was easy/quick to schedule. They told me it would take 3 days. Lions sent their subcontractors who did a really good job. It took the full 3 days to do the full install, and they were quiet, efficient, polite, and cleaned up after themselves. They did not damage my paint or walls at all. During the work, they determined there would be incremental work needed to make the system work more efficiently. They ran everything by me and asked permission before, and quoted me the incremental costs. In the end, I felt like it was the right thing to do. They spent time making new vents and ductwork for me for what seems like a very small incremental price for the amount of work. At the end, I asked them to walk me through all the work on video to explain the system which they obliged happily. One note is that my building HOA is very strict about going on the roof and doing installs to avoid damage to void the roof warranty. The roofers said they would charge me an egregious amount to supervise the HVAC guys to make sure it was done right. Instead, I got permission from my HOA not to bring the roofers as long as Lions did not damage or modify the roof. I explained this to them and they did a perfect job reusing the old mounts so no roof modifications were needed, saving me some liability. In the end, the new AC unit works very efficiently quietly and has new features to prevent the same problems my last one had. New AC will burn a hole in your pocket no matter what, but I'm glad I had it done well by Lions.

The reason for the poor rating isn't their quality of work, it's their push back and excuses to avoid fulfilling any sort of warranty claim. Three instances over the last 6 years: 1. Shortly after one install the gas heater stopped working. They came out and said the gas company changed their pressure. Told me it was an "act of god" and charged me to adjust the regulator. Not covered under warranty. Ok 2. Two years after the other install the ac stopped. Told me it was a "wiring issue." I said "but you guys just installed the system and did all this wiring". Sent a different tech out. Turns out it just needed to be cleaned which I paid for. 3. Here's the one that got me the most and pushed me to write this review. Ac stopped working for my renters 6 years after install. The unit came with a 10 year part/labor warranty which I had in writing. They argued and argued with me that I didn't have any warranty left. Finally they realized they were wrong and we did still have warranty. But then the excuses started: oh you had the roof replaced so the warranty isn't valid. Then it was the name of my renter was on the invoice so it wasn't valid. They finally agreed to at least take a look. Turns out the renters dogs peed on the unit and damaged it but after asking three times they never gave me a quote to fix it. Went with a different company. They have potential to do really nice work. But their after install support needs major tweaking. Won't be using again.

So, when my favorite repairman retired about a year ago (Mr. Hawk) I asked him who he'd use to repair HIS appliances. He said Eagle Rock Appliances or Chuck's Appliances. Recently, my washing machine (top loading) was making an "unnatural" sound and it got bad enough that I figured I'd better have it checked out before it blew up or something. So I checked out Yelp and saw Eagle Rock's reviews, before calling them to set up an appointment. To my surprise Peter was able to get to me within the hour (thus my good luck began). I'd heard he was honest, but didn't know he was so nice too. He didn't laugh at me when i played him a recording (via iphone) of the sound that my machine was making. Numerous years listening to CarTalk made me nervous that I'd be asked to reproduce the noise, hence my perhaps overly enthusiastic usage of technology. Turns out he was able to get the machine to make the noise too (duh on me). He immediately suspected the water pump. Upon removing it (which he did without spilling any water on the floor-AMAZING), he found a quarter was stuck inside the pump. At this point he could have told me that we needed a new water pump, which we didn't, but Peter is honest and grabbed his needle-nose pliers. He got it out and now I'm 25 cents richer. (More good luck, cause it was really wedged in there!) I'm thrilled to have a quieter, gentler machine again. I'm even more thrilled that it was fixed properly, and I wasn't taken to the cleaners. The rate was extremely reasonable and the added bonus was the feeling that comes from NOT being taken advantage of and knowing that the gentleman repairing my washing machine is honest and hardworking, as most of us aspire to be. I recommend EagleRock Appliances 100%, and they'll be the first one I call in the future if any other appliance problems come up. P.S. He refurbishes and restores vintage appliances too! P.S.P.S. Regarding the mystery of the quarter in the waterpump, Peter was baffled as to how it got in there in a top-loading machine. He said that he could understand how it would happen in a front-loader, but not a top-loader. He finally decided that upon dumping some pants in the washer, the pocket must have brushed against the top of the tub, and the quarter must have gotten in like that. Mystery solved!!!! read more

The water dispenser on my GE Profile fridge was broken by some thirsty 7 years olds. After my wife threatened to call Sears (oh no!$$$!), I quickly got in touch with this place based on reviews. In short, I would recommend the guy because he's honest and seems to like figuring things out. Peter called me back quickly. After telling him the problem, he admitted he did not have much experience with my type of refrigerator but was willing to take a look if I didn't mind. As agreed, he gave me a ring when the job before mine was done and he met me at my house 20 minutes later. He was able to quickly figure out how to open the dispenser (which I had not been able to do) without pulling off the door (which Sears probably would have done). With my help to hold on the circuit boards, he pulled the thing apart and we figured out that a small disc had fallen off. Phew! No expensive parts to buy. Peter fixed the dispenser with some insulating foam that I had and it now works better than before. For payment, Peter just asked me to pay what I though was fair. Wow. So I gave him his basic $45 service fee. As it turned out the job was fairly easy, perhaps merriting only 4 stars, but Peter's attitude and honesty puts him at 5. read more

I am from Idaho and stopped by Eagle Rock Appliance while I was in LA for work to check out Peter's O'Keefe stoves. He didn't have one that was the size I needed for my house, but he filled me up with knowledge and helpful information for tracking one down. I did end up finding one of the 21" ones and getting it to my house in Boise. After six months the oven started automatically shutting off after a few minutes and we had a local Boise repair guy come out and give us a list of things we needed to replace and fix for twice the amount that I paid for the stove. He kept stalling doing the work, so I decided to call Peter and in 30 seconds he told me what the problem was and how to fix it. Nothing needed to be replaced and the stove works great again. Peter at Eagle Rock Appliance is AWESOME and so kind and knowledgable. Peter wastes no time in getting business done; he arrives, he gets down to it, fixes it and he's gone after clean up. My refrigerator was down and out, went to YELP and found the closest service provider with the best reviews. I called and left a message, when I got a call back I told Peter what the problem was, he started to tell me he was very busy, and my heart just sank down to my stomach as I had already figured it's Saturday AFTERNOON, he's not coming!! But I noticed he was not satisfied with his answer then he proceeded to tell me he'd call me back in ten minutes, he did. 20 minutes later he's in front of the refrigerator fixing it. As he finishes up he tells me he had decided to come over because he'd figured I had a lot of food in my fridge, I did, I'm the proud father of six. My wife wanted to get rid of our busted 50-year-old Gaffers & Sattler wall oven. I looked into the prices of new ovens. Yikes! Then I called Peter Bogosian of Eagle Rock Appliances. Peter is a true professional: excellent at what he does, prompt, friendly, and honest. Across three visits, he repaired the door hinge and interior lighting, calibrated the thermostat, and even found a replacement knob, for which he even repainted the numerals by hand. Totally above & beyond my expectations. My wife now loves the oven. So Peter saved me thousands of dollars AND improved my marriage. If that doesn't merit a "Woohoo! I called Eagle Rock Appliances to have them fix my Kenmore Washing Machine. It has not worked in some time. Once the washing machine reached the spin cycle it would just sit there, with I don't know how many gallons of water. Well, Peter came out and fixed it in less than 20 minutes. He charged me a very reasonable rate. He was very professional and courteous. He arrived at the appointed time. I will definitely use his services again. I highly recommend Eagle Rock Appliances. I love that stove, and Chuck's has the increasingly rare technicians who know their way around it. They can find parts in flyover country someplace....Meanwhile they service my modern appliances, and sell me my new ones. My attempt at a quick purchase of a washing machine from Best Buy was a nightmare. This was possibly the worst experience I have ever had with this appliance company. I have used…read morethem once in the past, the process was an easy one. Had them order and install a microwave, no issues there. But ordering a simple part for my LG fridge has been a nightmare. The technician came for $145.00 for a simple service call. Looked at my fridge for 10 minutes, told me what he would do, order the part and apply the service call fee of $145 to the order and labor. Okay, that's fair. Said it would take six weeks. That's a long time, but okay, I understand, most parts are from China and it takes a long time. Three weeks later, they said they needed my credit card to order the part. Okay, again, I understand. But they should have done that to begin with. Then we wait six more weeks and set up a time for the technician to come out. He comes out and looks at the fridge for 5 minutes and says the part they ordered won't fit. Wrong part was delivered. This is sounding suspect. Okay, we are now told to wait an additional six weeks for the part to be reordered. I hear nothing back from them for six weeks. I call them and leave multiple messages. Get a guy on the phone says he'll relay the message to the owner. Nothing happens. Call back three weeks later. A young lady talks to me and says I will be a priority and will call me back with an ETA. That was three weeks ago. Tonight I left another message. I think I'm done now. They wasted three months of my life calling and complaining. I know I won't be hearing back from them till after the holiday. Would love to complain to BBB. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! This company is bogus! Terrible Customer service! All it takes is communicating to the customer. That would have gone far! Unhappy customer!

Because of the terrible communication with their office I ended up calling another company I had worked with in the past, and when they got here they very easily were able to see and address problems that the service repairman from ASAP was not. I cannot recommend this company at all.
