I put a scooter up for sale on consignment on April 14, 2010. For several months I called periodically to check on whether they sold the scooter and was told that it had not been sold. Finally at the end of August I called to once again check up on the scooter and they told me it had been sold in June, but it was actually sold on May 15, 2010. No one had contacted me about the sale, nor had Pasadena Yamaha sent a check. The staff stated they sent me a check but I never received one and they had no record of sending one - no check stub, no notice in the bank. They then claimed to have sent me a second check, which again never arrived. I finally went to the store and picked up a check in person. This check bounced in one week. I had to go back to the store, receive partial payment in cash and partial in another check, and then drive a 1/2 hour away to get the check cashed by their bank in Sun Valley, which they tried to discourage me from doing because they supposedly did not have enough to cover the check that day ($900). Amazingly I was able to cash the check (after a lot of discussion and whispering between the bank teller and her manager) and I have my money now but the whole ordeal was extremely unprofessional, there were no apologies, and they were obviously not honest with me. Additionally, I was paying insurance the entire time the scooter had been sold, which was totally unnecessary and when the check bounced I had to pay overdraft fees through my own bank. Although calm and polite, the staff were completely unhelpful, the manager (Kel) would barely speak a sentence to me before handing me off to someone else, and I left feeling like they were trying to get away with never paying me at all. Again, they never apologized and they never even tried to explain what happened. I remained very patient with them, waiting for checks to arrive in the mail, but it all ended up being a hoax. I am so glad that I no longer have to fight for my money and I discourage anyone from conducting business with this dealership. read more

Came here with a friend for the first time to check out their new R1 as I have been cross-shopping between the R1 and BMW's reigning champion, the S1000RR. The salespeople would not allow me to test ride the bike even though I would have been willing to put down a deposit. I don't care how many glowing reviews I read about something - I will not buy something this expensive without being able to test it out first. Glad I didn't buy it because of the huge recall. One star for allowing me to look at the bike. A second star for allowing me to sit on it. Edit: In response to Kel M., this visit occurred long before Yamaha ever announced the recall, so I don't know what "risk" he's referring to... I was told they just weren't offering test rides on their precious R1. Perhaps he's referring to the "risk" of theft or risk of inherent dangers of riding a motorcycle?! I've taken my bike to these guys for almost a year now. With the amount of miles that I put on it, I see them about every 2 months. While an oil change and service on a motorcycle is more expensive than a car, I save it in gas and time on the freeway.. I run about 100 bucks an oil change for every 3000 miles on my V-star 650. They always seem to take care of things right. Kel is really friendly and knows his stuff. His quotes for the work done are usually spot on, and reasonable. The time estimates are usually pretty good, too. Their mechanics seem to really know what they're doing. Only gripe is that they don't wash your bike after service like other places, but I guess i"ll live. read more

I recently bought a new 2014 Yamaha 650 Custom from Yamaha Pasadena. In the past, I've had three Suzuki motorcycles. When I needed some work on my last Suzuki, I wanted local service, so I called Yamaha Pasadena to see if they worked on Suzuki bikes. They made a little joke, but it was cute and funny, and told me they did. I took the bike in, they gave me an estimate, they did the work, and they delivered the bike when they said they would at the price they quoted. Forward three years: I decided to move from a 250 to a 650 bike. I was used to Suzuki, but I really wanted to buy locally, especially from a family owned business, so I went in one day to browse and see if I liked the Yamaha 650 as much as the Suzuki Boulevard 40 (about 605 cc). Both are beautiful bikes, and I won't debate the merits of each here, but I will say I was sufficiently smitten with the Yamaha Custom Star 650 to be swayed from Suzuki given the right price coupled with the opportunity to do business locally. I went in right before closing on a Saturday (not intentionally). Rich answered questions I had and showed me the Custom Star 650. As only one 2014 Star 650 remained in the showroom, it was reduced in price. In fact, it was a VERY good deal, and I believe that no better deal would be available on a comparable bike. I got back in there on the next business day and bought the bike. I used Yamaha financing as their rate was even better than my credit union. Rich got everything in order quickly and efficiently, keeping me informed every step of the way as well as making the deal feel as though it was taking place between two friends. When I picked up the bike, Rich took extra time I needed as I had not ridden in over a year. Following the sale, I received a follow-up call from Rich to see if I had any questions. I actually went by because I was having trouble locking the handlebars. Rich stopped what he was doing, went outside and patiently showed me what I was not doing quite right without making me feel like an idiot. A month in, I'm thrilled with my bike, happy to have a local dealer for service, and will keep you posted regarding my experience and relationship with Pasadena Yamaha. read more

Dependable, friendly, family-owned & operated shop. Fast turn-around times for service, and always straight-forward and helpful. They definitely make you feel welcome and valued as a customer. Service quality is on-par with most authorized Yamaha dealerships- ie good quality overall, but an occasional oversight here & there- ie like forgetting to fully tighten down a fairing screw, overfilling the oil sometimes, small random scratches on your bike etc. But, never anything major, which is key. For repeat customers, they'll perform small service items complimentary- ie tire pressure checks, quick inspections, adjustments, installations etc. Lots of good will in this area. Service pricing is also on-par with most Yamaha dealerships- ie msrp for most oem parts, and expect to pay about $400 + tax for mileage service- possibly more for additional work. The sales manager position has turned over 4 or 5 times over the past 5 years- ie almost once a year? Not sure if it's because of personality issues and/ or performance reasons. But, each manager they've had has always been friendly & helpful. (I haven't purchased a new bike here and cannot really vouch in this area.) All-in-all, am very happy with their service. If their pricing were slightly less expensive, then I'd probably give them 5 stars... read more

Anyways August 2015 went to Yamaha of Pasadena best person to help me out was Jeff! I was looking for sort of a fast bike like the r6 but lucky for me Jeff introduced me to the baby brother/sister(for girls) the R3! Best bike i have till now, had my second oil change on it, still rides like a beast! If it wasn't for Jeff I'd be stuck in traffic in the mornings and evenings going to work and back! I have a 1990 Yamaha Virago 535. It's my first bike, so I confess to being a little naive; for example, I didn't realize how easily the carbs could get gummed up. When it happened, though, I wanted to at least try to fix it myself. But, of course, I had lots of questions along the way. The guys at Pasadena Yamaha were an amazing resource. They helped me to decipher my repair manual; they advised me on which cleaning solutions to use; and they helped me to inspect various parts to see if they were OK or needed to be replaced. When a part did need to be replaced, they consistently ordered it for me at as good or better a price than I'd found anywhere online on my own. They were always friendly and helpful, and pragmatic/realistic about whether a task actually needed to be done or was something the motorcycle could do just fine without. With the assistance and support of a very patient and understanding spouse, I ended doing quite a bit of work on the bike: cleaning the carbs, chemically cleaning and polymer-coating both fuel tanks, replacing much of the fuel line, and wrestling it all back together (which, when it came to the air filter joints, was nigh impossible). But when it was all done, even though the bike had been out of commission for quite a while by then, my Virago started right up! I rode it over to Pasadena Yamaha, where they gave it a good once-over and complimented my work. That was over a year ago. I still stop by there on occasion, when I have a question about maintenance. My bike is running wonderfully, something that I can't imagine would have been the case without all the guidance and quality parts I got from the folks at Pasadena Yamaha. read more

While every other dealer wanted to charge me 9k+ for a '15 Yamaha R3, they gave me a fair and proper deal. Not to mention they are really great with people. Great experience on motorcycle purchase! They have an impressive selection of both new and used bikes. In particular they had a nice range of new, late model and used R6s in stock. Believe the reviews when it comes to no pressure, up front approach. Rich was really helpful, patient and friendly through the entire process. Came in on a Sunday afternoon about 1.5 hours before closing to check out a XSR700. Walked in and started looking around at the different models they had available. I was greeted at the door but no salesman came up to me for about 10-15 minutes (which honestly is perfect) because I don't like being swarmed when I walk into a retail space. Once they really saw me examining the XSR700 they came up and we started talking business, I previously emailed about trading in my 2009 fz6r and when Rich overheard me he promptly introduced himself and we got down to business. They gave me top dollar for my trade in which other shops weren't willing to do, and he gave me a great out the door price on the Brand New XSR700 that i've been eyeballing. Honestly Rich is a great salesman and at no time did I ever feel pressured to make a purchase even though everyone was about ready to go home on a Sunday afternoon. Just putting out there my recent experience with the Service Department. I brought in my Yamaha R3 on a recall service. I was told it wasn't a problem and it would be ready the next day, since I called in a month previous to get my kit ordered in time. But most importantly, I was told I would receive a phone call when the service was completed. That phone call never came. This was on a Friday, so my bike would have been ready on Saturday. Since the business is closed Sunday and Monday, and because I didn't receive the call, I had to wait three extra days to get my bike back. There is no value in customer service, and it seems no practice in it either here at this dealership. read more
