Having just acquired a 'new to me' used vehicle during the transfer of title I needed a smog test. Just before testing my vehicle though Lalo inquired if my engine light had come on, which it just had. Verses just testing the car for smog Lalo went the extra 'honesty mile' and let me know what might be needed for the car to pass smog. Fortunately all it need was a new gas cap. Afterwards she passed the smog test. Before I left I inquired about the tires as well, due to a bouncing issue I was experiencing. Verses just switching the tires, rebalancing them, etc they checked the air pressure, they were over inflated, and then test drove her to see if they felt anything amiss. A few weeks ago I had a check engine light come on, I took my car to Paso Robles auto repair, and later Eric called me and told me that I needed a Co2 sensor and it would cost 600.00 and I approved the repair. I picked up the car and it ran great until I got about 100 miles away from home, the check engine light came on, just like before, and the car would barely run, so I was forced to take it to a garage in Kern Co. The mechanic there pulled up the same code as Eric but he pointed out that the code also read Co2 sensor high-tension wire he then checked the alternator and found a failed diode, he replaced the alternator and my car has been running great since then. I called Eric and told him that I thought they had misdiagnosed the problem with my car. Eric was adamant that he did not want to hear this and said the two weren't connected, they were, the computer needed power to work properly the battery was not getting a full charge, and this caused a faulty reading (misdiagnosis) I cannot recommend Paso Robles Auto Repair read more

My alternator went out while I was parked for lunch. I've done business with a different auto shop for over 20 years. My husband asked the tow truck where a reliable place in up near Paso since my usual auto repair shop is over 30 minutes away. The tow truck driver suggested this place and we took a chance. So glad we did! What a bunch of friendly and hard working employees! My car was up in running in two days (we had it towed in so we were at their mercy). Our car was towed to Paso Robles Auto Repair by AAA after breaking down in Pismo Beach while on vacation and on our way to Paso Robles. As soon as we drove into their shop with the tow truck driver a few minutes before closing time, we were treated with the utmost care. Erik arranged to have our luggage unloaded from our car and have us driven to our hotel. He stayed in touch with us during the evening, reporting back that the problem had been diagnosed and could be repaired by the morning. He sent a detailed estimate to me that evening, which I was able to share with my mechanic back home who assured me it was a fair estimate. The next morning I received a message that our car would be ready by 10:00 a.m. Erik sent a car to pick us up. Our driver was Lalo, the owner of the shop. Every person in the shop was so polite, respectful, and helpful. We were able to drive home that day, and our car has been running fine ever since being repaired. Had a great experience with these guys this morning. Walked in asking for a smog test and 15 min later left with a passing test. The guys are all friendly and accommodating. The waiting room isn't anything fancy but certainly a place to hang out for a few. I will say there are a lot of auto repairs in the area they are in so it may be hard to spot them specifically as a lot of them say smog test and auto repair. read more

After a horrible experience at a mechanic close to my house I scoured the internet for a better one. Found many reviews like mine here. Definitely 5 stars for sure. I set an online appointment for a smog and they got back to me shortly confirming the date. Check engine light came on the day before of course. I met the mechanic upon opening and he was so friendly and knowledgeable I thought he was the owner. The owner then checked me in as well. They told me what to expect as far as finding the problem and what the charges would be. They called later the afternoon as promised with the diagnosis. No surprises and I picked up the truck the next day, again as promised. The mechanic took the time to explain exactly what was going on and what they did. Took in for air conditioning service . Never contacted as to the actual problem. Had it for 3 days and when I went to check on the service was told they put freon in it possible leak drive it for a week and if it doesn't hold bring it back. I found the truck parked on the street about a quarter away! It did not last a week and I never went back to them! read more

After researching local auto shops for a solid, reliable, and trustworthy place to service may car, I'm really pleased that I made the decision to come here to change my oil. Lalo and his staff are professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They were able to schedule me for a same day appointment which was much appreciated and they were well priced for the oil I had requested to be used in my car. I also needed an extra part and they had it delivered quickly to the shop while working on my car. I hung out inside the shop at their desk on one of their chairs while I waited and it was nice to see what was going on with my car. As someone relatively new to the area, Lalo made me feel welcome and filled me in on Paso. We stopped by on 6/11/2021. My front wheel was making noise on left turns. I spoke to Jonathan, and told him I thought it might be a wheel bearing problem. I told Jonathan we were on the way back home to Las Vegas, and asked him if he thought it would be safe to drive there, to have my local mechanic fix it. Jonathan took the truck for a test drive and examined the wheel/drivetrain. He told us he thought it was the wheel bearing, but that it should be safe to drive it home. I thanked him, and offered to pay him for his diagnostics. He refused to take any money, and told me that he had needed help in the past, and people refused to help him. He's happy to help others. Jonathan is a wise young man, seemed very knowledgeable about his job, and a is kind person. We often pass Paso Robles to camp at the beach.
