Ok so i think that maybe I am a hotel snob but I didn't really care for this place. Lived in Paso Robles for years and never stayed here until now. I guess it has its charm and has nice grounds, but the rooms are not what they should be and are in need of an upgrade. In the years past, this was the top of the line hotel for Paso. Now with the brand new Marriott and Holiday Inn Express in town, this hotel needs to upgrade some of its amenities. Free Wi-Fi is always good but the televisions need some help! How about some flat screens and channels that you can watch without fuzz.... I found the pamphlet for HBO but never found it on the TV itself. I mean I guess I slept pretty good, but for a older, nicely kept hotel like this one, I would have thought it would have been better in terms of details. If you stay here... forget the hotel restaurant and walk through the park across the street to Pappy McGregors for some local hospitality and an awesome pub. read more

This place was ok. Came with a girlfriend up north for the day and she got a good deal on the room. Im happy the room wasnt more then $100 because I dont think it should be worth more then that. It wasnt bad but it wasnt great. It did the job. The bed was ok, not uncomfortable but not a dream to sleep on. The pillows were meh, if I were to stay there again I would bring my own pillow next time. In the middle of the night we could hear everyone walking through the hallways (which happens at alot of hotels) but everytime they would shut their door our door would click as if it were shutting or someone was opening our door, which is scary in the middle of the night. The towels were ok, a couple of them were torn and frayed on the ends, dont know why they would still leave those for guests to use..maybe just lazy? The grounds were really pretty with the coy pond and the cute little pathways and bridges that lead to the pool area. Not an amazing pool but on a hot day it does the job. This place is basically what the star rating says. eh, ok. not so much a-ok but it works and would stay again just to have a place to stay. The bathroom was nice and the deep bathtub was great as well. thats a plus in my book. read more

What this hotel has going for it is the location right on the square, sulphur baths in your room, and a semblance of old world "something or other"...but it's not "charm". The challenges that we experienced for our 2-night weekend stay were: a) the front desk said that they didn't have our reservation (I called 2 mos ago and provided a credit card # to hold it), b) they said they only had one room left for $250 which wasn't true because they later insisted on moving us to another available room, c) after unpacking, trying the sulphur bath, and getting into bed, they called to say that they forgot that our bath is actually broken and was now leaking into the ballroom below us where a noisy fashion show was occurring (ooops!) so they wanted us to move rooms, and d) when I asked for a concession to the bill for this inconvenience, they refused. I travel a lot for business; the staff here are graceless and unprofessional. Thank God that the local wineries made up for this. Try a B&B. read more

SULFER SMELL. if you can get by the powerful smell that sears the hair off your nostrils this is the place for you. It can nail you when you're in the parking lot! Horrible smell! The patio tub was tepid after the sulfur smell wafted away-20 min wait. The rooms r a four star, the check in staff was a four star. There is an old ballroom to check out that from a historical point is fabulous. read more

Be careful. The Paso Robles Inn can be a unique place to stay but know exactly what you're getting before you book. We booked online and booked a "King Spa Room" which had a LARGE picture of an outdoor spring-fed tub. Turns out the fine print says "Room includes either an in-room or outdoor spring fed tub". So when we arrived, we were given a dark room with an indoor spring-fed tub with terrible feel (feng shui). When we complained we were treated with some serious 'tude. The manager made it all-right by giving us a suite but if the suite wasn't available we'd be stuck with our terrible room. The ONLY reason to stay at this place is their spring-fed tub so if you can get their outdoor private tub in your room, it's worth it. Otherwise, skip it and the 'tude. read more

Had the Prime Rib special last Wednesday night and it was terrible. Not a single spice on the prime rib, no salt, no pepper and no rosemary or thyme as prime rib should have. The au jus was like brown water, no flavor. The rolls were good and the baked potatoes were also good, but the garlic mashed potatoes had no flavor at all. Won't be going back there ever! read more

Do not waste your time or money to stay at this hotel. Room odor was horrific , the same as battery acid. Front desk did not want to be concerned with this issue. Extremely overpriced ,out dated , never a contact by room service , arrived early on the check in date , was not allowed to check in early, front desk stated that they would contact me asap to check in , never heard a word. Im sure that there are hotels in the area that care about customer service and repeat business , this is not one of them. read more

Very very underwhelming. We reserved a room in the inn's direct website and the reservation for a hot tub room was conveniently lost. When I called to get some info on check in there was no reservation to be found. The only room left was a room with 2 tiny double beds. We walked in the room and it smelled like a musty old shack. We had to open the door to air it out. Very outdated decor and the entire space was lacking in all aspects from look, lighting, bathroom cleanliness, etc. After trying to find a room elsewhere and not succeeding, we stayed. 2nd night needed towels for the jacuzzi, called the front desk and it rang for LITERALLY 6.5 minutes with no answer. Called back 3 additional times with NO answer and no service. Very unaccommodating and sadly unprofessional. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with all aspects of this hotel. Will not stay again. Truly a shame, it could be great. read more

Having friends in the area we have stayed at the Inn many times in the past. I'm unlikely to repeat that after this last stay. From the moment Paul greeted us the problems began. He was less than welcoming and seemed bothered by us. He asked if we had stayed here before, and failed to acknowledge the affirmative. Hmmmm? We had reserved/booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Although I had been the primary for reserving the room and asked if there was a "better" deal or room, what I got instead was a smaller and louder room than my traveling companions. I also asked if there was a cancellation if we could get a better room for which I would pay. Although he affirmed he would do this, I felt like Paul reacted to that request by punishing us. We instead got an end room overlooking the pool/hot tub. Putting us closest to loud partiers now seemed intentional. Having a smaller room without a second nightstand or reading light for $200/night is uncool. Add to that a toilet that felt like it was going to fall over whenever using it was just sloppy facilities management. We did find a way to make the best of our time in Paso...by staying out of the room. My review is really intended to alert the managers to areas for improvement, and to help other travelers level-set their expectations. One star for having a great band and a lively crowd in the bar, but the Inn really needs to improve how it treats customers...starting with reception. read more

My boyfriend and I were passing thru Paso Robles and decided to stay for the night. We found the paso Robles inn and booked it online. It was late, about 10 pm when we checked in. We were greeted by a nice lady who made the check in very quick and easy (about 5 min) because she said it was late and cold and wanted to get us in our room as quickly as possible. The security outside was very nice and helpful too. The room was very clean and felt so cozy with the fireplace in there. The grounds are very nice with places to sit and little trails to walk. The inn is in a prime location in downtown across the street from shops, restaurants, and a little park. We had breakfast at their steakhouse which was very good! The waitress poured our coffees in to-go cups for us:) Then we took a walk around the little streets and shops before heading back to check out around 12pm. We had a great experience and would definitely stay here again! read more

The upside: we recently stayed at this hotel, just so you know this review comes from a person who prefers rustic over modern and new. The hotel was just as described rustic, beautiful gardens, great location in relation to downtown Paso Robles. We enjoyed the $20 Prime Rib dinner on Wednesday night at their lounge and had one of the best Ceasar Salads ever. The Cowboy lounge has a good selection of scotch and a very local and rustic vibe. The room was very clean and newly remodeled. The downside location of room: AVOID ROOM 211. and check any room before you commit to moving your bags and keeping your assigned room. After I specifically requested that we not be put in a room overlooking any trashcans etc.(kind of joking) I walked out onto our balcony and what is the first thing I see, Garden to the left and two stinky gas station dumpsters to the right. By this time it was late evening and we were tired and planning on checking out early morning anyway. So we regretfully decided to stay in our assigned room. Room 211 and the surrounding rooms unbeknownst to us are located near a night club and gas station. From about 9 to midnight (on a wednesday night) the nightclub was booming and in addition to the noise from the gas station the nightclub was emptying bottles into the dumpster all night. At midnight the patrons were very loud while closing the night club and very loud motorcycles could be heard leaving the parking lot. We are not nerds and in any other instance would have probably been at the nightclub ourselves but if you are looking for a quiet, quaint experience be prepared to check out your room assignment first. read more

If it weren't for the overpowering sulfur smell in the room this would have been a great stay. The old structure has character and adds ambiance but the rooms were something to be desired. I could not tell if the shower had mold in it or if it was so old that it needed regrouting. We stayed one night and checked out. Not worth the $200+ a night. read more

We stayed in the pet friendly suite with the spring water bath. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was walking distance to everything in downtown. The only issue is if you use the bath it smells like sulfur (normal for natural springs) but they provide scents to help. read more

What a MAJOR disappointment!! The beds were awful, the linens were old and worn and the pillows were terrible! Not to mention when we checked in on Friday night the smell of sulfur was almost unbearable and the water in the room smelled like raw sewage. To top it off, when checking out Sunday morning the gal behind the front desk never cracked a smile or asked how our stay was. We will definitely cross this hotel off our list! read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Paso Robles Inn recently to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. We've stayed there before (It was fabulous!) and wouldn't think of staying any other place to stay in Paso. Like always we had a great time wine tasting and relaxing and just enjoying. We had taken the train up to Paso from Oxnard on Wednesday and were catching the only scheduled train back to Oxnard on Friday that was to leave at 1:40 PM. We were contacted by Amtrak that our train would be 4 hours delayed, meaning it would not come through until almost 7 o'clock. The wonderful staff was nice enough to hold our things after checkout and we had a little time to explore and enjoy Downtown Paso. To make a long story short, our train ended up being 8 hours delayed, but the staff, from the front desk, to the bar, to the Steakhouse could not have been more accommodating to us. Everyone was so understanding and nice considering we were quite frustrated with Amtrak, after receiving 11 (yes eleven) texts saying our train was delayed, again. Finally, when it was clear the train was not anymore delayed, we gathered our things and headed to the train station. After arriving I realized I left my Hydro-Flask at The Inn and called to see what could be done to get it back. The front desk staff offered to drive it over to me; he arrived at the train station quickly (which by this time it was after dark and there were no lights on the train platform; kinda' scary) and reluctantly took a tip from me. He went over and above anything expected from my husband or me. Clearly The Paso Robles Inn has an exceptionally trained staff that truly care about their guests. Can't wait to come back in the spring. Another front desk staff apologized, profusely, when we asked for extra coffee and cream for our room but it was delivered to the wrong room. To us it was no big deal, but it obviously it was to her! She actually gave us EXTRA extra coffee and creamer! Their staff is to be commended and I will be sure to tell everyone I know that The Paso Robles Inn is THE PREMIER place to stay in Paso! read more

Although I'm not sure I would recommend this place as a hotel, it does have it's perks. The rooms are a little old fashioned as it is a historical site in down town Paso Robles, some of them do come with their own personal mineral water hot spring. They also offer in-room spa treatments that are very nice, and the pool area is good sized and a fun place to hang out. It's also within walking distance to the park which is surrounded by restaurants of every kind, a movie theater, and during the summer they do concerts in the park and other neat little small town events that we often miss out on in our busy lives. On Friday nights they offer Ladie's Night, and the drinks are very reasonable, they have live music, and the appetisers are quite filling. It's a nice little hangout, especially if you can get a table on the balcony on a summer night. read more

We attended this hotel for a Wedding. It was recommended. It was a horrible experience. I have never stayed at a hotel by the hour, however I a certain the experience could not be much worse given the money difference. First, we booked a suite, but did not get one, and in their defense, the confirmation did not reflect one, it stated, KNS, and I did not catch it. Of course, it was all my fault for not catching it, and I lived with that. The room was super small, bathroom small, smelled moldy. Maid service after 1st day, not soap or toiletries left for us. The next day we did not get maid service even though we had the maid sign out all day. We were in the room only 1 hr and 15 minutes all day, and that was to get changed for the wedding. The maid was next door when we left for the day. She CLAIMED she say DND, on the sign. What a joke. We come back at 10 pm, no towels, soaps, missed the day before, and Dirty sheets, (our fault), and had to live in this for 200 bucks a night. Food was terrible though we spend 400 for one meal. I would not recommend this to our worst enemy. Anyone who thinks this is a great place, needs to get out more. When you comment to the manager, it is not about you, it is about them, not their fault. When we checked out the desk clerk stated the same, I will talk the manager and we will do something I am sure. RIGHT, get a full bill, with a comment hoping our stay was great. NO mention at all of our problems. A canned email. What a joke, do not be fooled, stay anywhere but here. read more

I wouldn't really call the Paso Robles Inn a hotel, it's more of a Motel with some amenities here & there. We stayed here for 4 nights for a wedding in the area. Overall I was pleased with my stay but felt it overpriced for what you receive, but it's the wine country so there are only a limited number of places to stay. The check-in staff was pleasant enough but we didn't really feel welcomed (however, I kinda found this to be the case everywhere in Paso, as did my fellow wedding guests). The grounds are lovely and it's pretty cool they are dog friendly. We booked a spa tub room on 2nd floor and I didn't realize they had no elevator or bellhop, so we ended up having to lug all of our our luggage and wedding stuff upstairs, which I was not pleased about. We used the outdoor mineral springs tub only once b/c the sulfur smell was just too much for me. Otherwise the room was clean and well appointed and I was pleased they had a fridge. Only other small gripes was there was no ice machine in our building, so it was a bit of pain having to cross the grounds just for a bucket of ice and the wifi is very weak. The motel is very conveniently located to shops & restaurants and you can walk everywhere. However, you will need to get in your car to find a grocery store or pharmacy. If front desk staff had been a bit more welcoming & friendly I would have given 3 stars, but I think they have some work to do in this area. read more

If only I could give them ZERO stars! We walked into the restaurant and waited for 5 minutes. No one acknowledged us we were ignored. Then a family of 4 walked in from the back and went and sat at a table. Hallie then asked them if she could help them and walked to the hostess stand and checked the computer. She then told us she would be with us in a minute (of course we had already been waiting for 5 plus minutes). She sat them at a table then came back and asked if we had reservations we told her no. She goes well if you can be done in an hour you can sit down. If not there is nothing we can do. We explained that we actually had been waiting and were before them. She was not apologetic, we asked her name and then for the managers card. She got a smirk on her face and said here is my card. Hallie is the manager.... she should learn how to Hostess if she is going to be the first thing people see when they walk in. read more

The Good: Great location on the town square near some good restaurants and a number of decent tasting rooms. Clean rooms and nice grounds. The Bad: The "spa" and "fitness" are not on property. Some spa services can be brought to your room, if your comfortable with that sort of thing. The Ugly: Customer service was spotty at best and sometimes rude. We upgraded to the suite with a mini kitchen. There were no plates, glasses or cutlery, so we called the front desk. They told us we had to walk to the restaurant and ask them. When we did, the restaurant was closed (between lunch and dinner.) We went back to the front desk and were told we had to go upstairs to the bar and ask the bartender. The bartender was in the weeds and despite several assurances that she would be "right with us", she was never able to help. Finally, we went back to the restaurant and helped ourselves. When we returned to the front desk and told the clerk what happened, she replied "okay" and nothing more. We will probably return since we like Paso Robles and the lodging pickins are slim. Next time, we will lower our expectations. read more

A great stay! If you enjoy a hotel with history, some adventure and not just a cookie cutter brand new hotel this is the place for you! It is very nicely remodeled and the Amenities were great. It sits on a hot spring and the spa rooms have tubs in them that draw that water up. It can be a little smelly but if you run the jets or drop some bath oils in them that they supply it is great. We were a little sore and after the spa soak it was awesome. You can walk around downtown and there is a neat park directly across the street. The only complaints I would give would be the coffee was seattle's best so if you care about that I would suggest going to one of the coffee shops within walking distance. I loved how the history and building had staked true but were nicely remodeled still keeping the vibe of the place too. We found this place out of dumb luck but I can't wait to find an excuse to return! But with Firestone walker brewery, wine country, and whatever else we find to adventure too I'm confident we will return! Oh one last thing the rooms were larger than you might be picturing right now with the talk of older building and true to the vibe so bring the kiddos pack and play it fit just fine! read more

We stayed in a suite with the fireplace and hot tub on the balcony. Loved the natural spring water in spite of the sulfur smell. Room was spacious, homey and clean. The central downtown location provides access to a lot of great restaurants. I'd go again and again as long as I got one of the hot tub suites! read more

this hotel was so quaint and clean. we stayed in a room with the jacuzzi in the balcony and it was worth every penny! the room was very nice and roomy...and the bathroom was well-kept. I always harp on the cleanliness of the bathroom in a hotel, and this one was excellent. staff was also very friendly. the smell of sulfur was very pungent in the jacuzzi but we didn't mind at all. also, you can close the curtains that wrap around the balcony for extra privacy. so awesome. read more

Delightful place! Yes, the room was small, but this is typical of historic properties. What it lacks in space it more than makes up in charm. Room was warm, quiet. Grounds are beautiful. we had a pratfall at check in since I used my United mileage for booking/payment. So they did not have my reservation but they did a good job sorting it out with United and the 4 travel agencies it got kicked around with. It was strictly a United problem. We had a perfect garden room. The grounds are sensational. the staff and food at the coffee shop are great. The easy access to the park/square is perfect. I greatly enjoyed reading the history of the area as per the impressive book in our room. This is an amazing place . I think staying here is a must for every traveller. read more

We spent a couple of nights at the Paso Robles Inn with our two teenage daughters. We stayed in the Jesse James building in one of the suites so that the girls could have their own space as could we. We had a wonderful experience from the moment we checked in, all the way through to check-out. We had patio tub with mineral water for soaking, a lovely park across the street with its surrounding square with shops and restaurants. Saturday morning there was a quaint Farmer's Market at the park. Lovely weekend. We'll definitely be back! read more

My husband and I decided to stay here on our wedding night. Actually, I stayed the night before and he joined me the night of. We stayed here a couple years prior and just loved it (I wrote a rave review). However, this time we did not. First of all, we had 10 other rooms on site booked with wedding guests. My mom's room did not have AC. It was broken. She told the front desk but they did not fix it. I also learned from others that the rooms that do not have spas are terrible and look like a cheap motel. Wish I had known that before, as I had some discerning loved ones staying here at my recommendation and as I stated before, my initial impression of this hotel was a departure from this one. The room that I booked for my husband and I had a giant picture of a woman zip lining as the artwork above the fireplace. I'm talking, it was zoomed in on her, not off in the distance with beautiful scenery. Later, I found a brochure for zip lining with the exact same photo...it was an advertisement! I found this to be quite tacky and certainly not romantic. The worst thing of all about this stay was what happened on our wedding night. We had gotten in the spa, candles were lit and we were ready to get into bed, when we learned the fireplace was broken. I called the front, in case there was an easy solution. There was not. They offered to send someone up but we were, ahem, ready for bed and did not need something else spoiling the mood. I was shocked that the fireplace had not been checked prior to our arrival. I specifically asked for a fireplace and spa and stressed the romance factor. They knew it was our wedding night and we'd booked a block of rooms for wedding guests. When I reached out to management they gave us a $75 credit, which felt more like a slap in the face than no reply. I am so sad about this whole experience and have dreaded writing this review for fear of reliving it but felt compelled to share my experience. read more

This my second visit to Paso Robles Inn. We had a king spa room on this trip. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The attention to detail was impressive, and the bed the most comfortable I've slept in at a hotel.The water pressure in the shower was great! The grounds are beautiful, the pool area clean and with comfortable furniture. The only drawback is the on-site Steakhouse. We arrived around 6 and there were only 3 other people in there. The restaurant had a stale smell (NOT the sulphur smell from the spas). We were given a window booth, but the window was covered in handprints and fingerprints. There was food stuck in the crevices of the booth. Soon I noticed other guests swatting at flies, and soon we were as well. My husband ordered a steak which was a bit overdone, but hot off the grill. My halibut was a different story. It was a nice-sized piece of fish with no seasoning and so overcooked it couldn't be chewed. The grilled asparagus was mushy, and the beaure blanc sauce was coagulated on the plate like a blob of mayonaise. At first I thought it was congealed hollandaise sauce. Everything on my plate was cold. Hubby doesn't like it when I complain about food, so I didn't which was stupid considering the price. I will stay here again, the Inn is really lovely. I will just eat my meals somewhere else, or bring food to the room. read more

The place is really noisy and the beds are hard. The smell is so overwhelming you can't get over it. Wouldn't go back.

For $150 we got a small upstairs room with a king bed in the back of the property, no deck, no deck bathtub. Not much of a step up from a lower end chain, frankly. So disapointed. The only above average amenity was the lukewarm (at 6pm) "hot chocolate bar" at the front desk. No breakfast included. Nice grounds yes, but I would rather stay at the lovely chain hotel down the street for 75% of the price and includes breakfast. Unless you are in need of a hotel on the park there are much better deals out there. This is a "quaint" property that my grandmother would love but I would have rather spent the money on a nice bottle of wine. Will not be back. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding. The hotel is dark, old, and dusty. The pillows are really firm and uncomfortable and the bedding needs to be replaced. The hotel is extremely overpriced. I don't recommend staying here. read more
