Everything was fantastic. The pizza had the soft dough that becomes a crunch as your teeth bite in. The sauce is mild & thick with tomato. Perfect ration of cheese and sauce, plentiful toppings. The cheese bread is a nice compliment to your pizza of choice. What makes the bread more enjoyable though are the housemade ranches. The options are classic or "raging." The raging ranch definitely has a kick, but it's tolerable. As for the pizza, I have 2 favorites, the chicken coop and mama's meatball pizza. The meatball pizza's generous amount of meatballs and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top make it reminiscent of a homemade pasta dinner. BBQ chicken pizzas typically feature shredded chicken. What I like about the chicken coop, is that it features bite-sized pieces of fried chicken instead. Regardless of which pizza you order, I recommend the "all corner" option. Any time I can support an independently owned business, like Square One, over a franchise, I will. The food I've had has been exceptional, and is also competitively priced.

So, we just might have a new contender for best pizza in metro Detroit...I'm not joking when I say…read morethis. This stuff is legit. For me, there is so much to like about this place. It all starts with the owner. I love when I'm in a restaurant and the owner takes pride in the details that make their products stand out and is excited to share them with you. That's what happened here. Some of those details include 1) Canadian style pepperoni. Far lower fat content that typical pepperoni and shredded. This was great. Frankly I'm not sure i ever want regular pepperoni again. They were incredibly flavorful and not at all greasy. A big win 2) Portion size, here every size is approximately 2" bigger that comparable size at other restaurants 3) The ovens, no heated conveyor belt here. this is a legit stone oven, high temp pizza oven that bakes a great pie. I couldn't wait to get home to try the pizza. At the first bite I was in love. The crust had a nice crispy bottom while maintaining a soft, pillowy, chewy taste on top. The sauce was silky smooth and had a little spiciness to it. All the meats were incredibly tasty as well. The shredded pepperoni was the standout though. I also really appreciate the fact that they offered flavored crust. I got garlic butter and it was like having bonus a breadstick with each slice. My wife got a Margherita pizza and loved hers as well. To top it all off, the breadsticks were fantastic too. If good food wasn't enough, the prices were very reasonable, a huge advantage that A Slice of Rome has over another newish local pizza place I recently reviewed. This may be my new go to pizzeria. I'll definitely be back

Will try this again and ask them to make sure it actually is cooked all the way. The pieces in the center were underdone and not edible. Also, ordered Cajun crust and they forgot that too. We are from out of town so we rely heavily on yelp reviews…read more Tried this place for a nice casual lunch... The three of us had a variety of menu items. The Italian hoagie, buffalo chicken wrap, and a dozen of barbecue honey wings. We would say the Italian sub was average, the buffalo chicken wrap was AMAZING!! It was more like a buffalo chicken crunch wrap... It was baked, folded and crunchy on the outside with tons of chicken and fresh lettuce, tomatoes and ingredients inside! The wings were gigantic and delicious ... Seriously, on steroids! I've not seen wing dings that size in a very long time! One review we read said don't judge by the outside, and I totally agree. We pulled up and we're a little sketchy that we picked the right place. However, when we went in the staff was amazing and the Restaurant was super clean and very cute! Lots of nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages choices! If you live locally and haven't tried this spot, it's a must!

While the exterior may not immediately grab your attention, the inside is fresh and clean, and the staff could not be friendlier. We even had the chance to meet the owner, who shared why he opened the place and the genuine passion he has for both good food and his customers. That alone made the experience feel more personal. They offer some great lunch combos, including a two topping pizza with a drink and a sandwich combo with a drink as well. Perfect options if you want something quick, affordable, and satisfying. Give this place a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. We've had the pizza, sandwiches, and a salad option, and have been extremely pleased with everything so far.

I ordered in the ap and a pop-up told me I was about 30 minutes away, but it would be worth it. I do not disagree. Cute little place with an old time feel. I ordered a wood brick pizza and a calzone... i could not wait to get back home! They smelled delicious! If you're too far way, I'd recommend eating in if you like your pizza hot! I will probably do that next time. Even so, it was sooo good. I love a thin crust and even the calzone had one. No thick 2 inch dough on this one! The thin layer of sauce tasted fresh and leaned toward sweet rather than spice, which I prefer. I'd like a little more cheese, but the ratio of toppings to sauce & cheese was well balanced. Same with the calzone. I ordered the American Italian; but I expected an oil based Italian dressing... but again, the tomato based sauce is pretty delicious! I'm looking forward to finishing the rest for lunch tomorrow!
