Also don't listen to the lady that claims she got food poisoning from here! Lol. I love this restaurant but more importantly I'm an RN and she is very clearly lying about her experience. The onset of food poisoning doesn't occur when you are "walking through the strip mall after dinner". Incubation time for any food borne illness would take longer than that. As someone that has previously worked as a server, this woman sounds like a nightmare. She was clearly rude to her waitress, and her behavior was completely uncalled for. Passage to India is a must eat if you enjoy authentic Indian food. I've traveled many places and nothing quite compares to the flavor and all around deliciousness of there food. Its been in business for over two decades and when you go there you understand why. Dad is cooking in the kitchen using his memories from watching his Mom cook & his daughter is serving you. Everything we ordered was super! the naan bread, lamb curry, chicken tikki masala and you must order the rice pudding for dessert - WOW! Service and food time is always fast! Really delicious! we ordered lamb samosas and aloo naan to start. Apps were delivered promptly, and the server sensed we were ready to order without waiting. The lamb rogan josh and sag panir were both excellent. The sag in particular was great- fresh whole spinach leaves and fresh cheese can't be imitated. I just had my 40th birthday party here this past Friday night and it was just perfect. They accomidated almost 30 people graciously. They made me feel like family and completly taken care of. This is the dirtiest restaurant and the food disgusts me. Took my family who was visiting from India in hopes of authentic food and a taste of home. The service was horrible. The food not authentic Indian cuisine. lol We left very displeased and embarrassed with our guests. My husband a medical doctor looked up the license from the department of health found many recent violations one being the lamb was found on the floor. I ate here for the first time, and needless to say I am quite amazed! The venue is clean and quiet, and the staff are courteous and professional. I ordered the Chicken Curry - Hot, Samosas, and the Chili Nan. First, let me say that the Chili Nan has been mis-named. When I ordered it, I envisioned nan with some chili in/on it. Not the case. What they meant by chili, they meant Habanero...Chili...Peppers. The menu was quite correct in that it was hot. But if you eat hot stuff, you should feel right at home. The Samosas were okay, though they should have let the fry oil drain from them before bringing it to my table, maybe sit them on a paper towel for a few minutes (hint, hint). As it was, eating them while they drip dried on my plate resulted in a pool of fry oil I'd rather not see nor know about. But I digress from the main course, the Chicken Curry. I found the dish to be quite delightful, with just the right amount of heat to make it interesting. The curry was flavorful, with the chicken being juicy and tender. Alternating between the nan I ordered and the curry oddly enough brought out the flavor of the curry (which I ate between tears of pain from the Habanero Nan. Though the meal seemed a little pricy, the portions were on the generous side. The atmosphere could best be described as casual, though dressy clothes would not be out of place. The staff are very attentive (the waitress even come over to see if everything was okay/didn't die from the Habanero Nan). When I asked to take the remainder home, someone came over with some containers, and actually placed my food into them! You don't find service like that any more, or if you do, it's very far and few in between. Would I go back here? Oh yeah, definitely! Service with a smile, and great food to boot? What's not to love? On 2/15/16 My friends and I had a good meal at Passage to India in Naples, Fl. Our total bill was $123.43 before tip. The meal was enjoyable but the amount of rice they initially served with each entree was minimal. When we ask for more rice we were told the cost of additional rice was $2. This seemed like a nice restaurant but charging $2 for extra rice, especially when the initial serving are insufficient seems like a good why to discourage repeat business. It will be quite awhile before we return. At most Indian restaurant we have been to and at Sushi & Thai Too just up the road from Passage to India extra rice is complementary. read more

I ordered butter chicken takeout form here. It was $20 out the door. Once I got back to the hotel I was sooooo excited to eat my family-size butter chicken all to myself! Unfortunately, I had 6 tiny little chicken nuggets in a ton of sauce. It looked so pathetic. The bowl they used to takeout was a pretty decent size bowl and not even a quarter of it has chicken in it. HOW??? does the person working there even feel like that is worth the price? The food itself was good. Not as spicy as I would have liked. Its Indian food SO I always opt for medium because Indian spicy is spicy as hell. Their medium didn't have the slightest kick to it! Overall, really disappointing. The hostess was pretty dysfunctional, but I blame that on lack of training for her. She forgot utensils, didn't put the receipt in a booklet (to write on a hard surface since I was sitting in a chair), and also said "I need $20 from you" instead of literally any other way she could have asked for a payment. hahaha read more

Some of the other reviews are weird. Portions are fine. Price point is usual. Service is fast and friendly. They got the simple stuff right. My singular issue is with the flavor. I love garlic and they use a lot of it which is great. However, it didn't taste fresh. It had the acrid flavor of garlic pre-minced and stored too long in oil. Unless garlic is minced and stored in oil and used daily it gets acrid and shouldn't be used more than that day. Whatever their means of applying garlic to the naan and their dishes, it threw everything off.The cuisine is Bangladeshi. Yes, it's all "Indianesque" but the flavors again weren't what I think of with "Indian" which I think I like better. I'll give it a 2nd go soon though to make sure. read more

Every dish is made fresh (which is why it may take some time). Take it from this lover of Indian food who has eaten at Indian restaurants all over the US and India, Passage is one of the best you'll find. The samosas, tikka masala, vindaloo, biriyani and korma dishes are all terrific. I am not a very experienced indian diner, in fact Passage to India was my first venture into this cuisine when they were in Bonita. I really enjoy the flavors but when they moved to Naples, they took a majority of the heat out of their dishes and while i don't like it too spicy, a little is nice. We went as two family with 3 small kids, they took order on timely manner but after that they just forgot us. We waited almost an hour to get addressed by any staff, finally we ended up calling a waitress and after some back and forth from kitchen said it will take another 20 more mins...huhhhh!! Very poor service. On a slow night you would think service would go by swiftly, but it was a very poor performance by that waiter. The food was not satisfying. Very dull taste from the nan bread. The bathroom smelled very bad. Like if no one had cleaned it in weeks. Never coming here again or recommending this place to anyone. Chicken tikka was burnt and very dry. My Sag Punir was very watery, like it was under cooked. I was also lied to by the waiter claiming the ice cream was homemade, but it looked a lot like a publix brand ice cream. I spent over $120 at this place for crappy service and food. My family loves Indian food. Now that we live in Southwest Florida we have been searching for a good Indian restaurant. I think we've found one. Is it the best ever? No. However it is the best in the region. I've read the few reviews claiming poor service, this was not our experience. Our waitress was extremely helpful to the novice friends we brought with us. Water was replenished regularly and the plates that were ready to be cleared were cleared promptly. The entire staff was pleasant. The decor was nice and everything seemed to be clean. Oh, and the food was good too. The appetizers and a variety of breads were well prepared. Each of us had a different entree including chicken and lamb and each received good reviews. There's a reason this is the only Indian Cuisine restaurant in all of Naples! I'm a creature of habit so I can't talk about too many of there dishes since I only get the curry but by god it makes you want to slap your brain out with your tongue! We always get the appetizer sampler dish (which I highly recommend since everything is good) then either chicken, pork or lamb curry!! Every single one is delicious it just depends on what animal you're hankering for! The staff was friendly....as far as I can remember since it doesn't matter because the food is so dang delicious. I can't say enough about Passage to India. Easy to get in and out of. Quiet .Helps to enjoy your food and company. 27 years in Naples and I only found this place seven years ago. I heard a family talking about the Chicken Tikka Masala while eating their Asian dinner at Naples Sushi Thai. I asked the father about it and he said that he dreamed about it in his sleep. My mother and I decided to try out this indian restaurant and was expecting homemade authentic food. However, what came out was overpriced poor quality of food. The vegetables that they use are obviously frozen because they looked generic and tasted it too. Their pistachio ice cream must of been from Publix because it was very generic also. My family and I had dinner here this evening. We are from Michigan and we eat at Indian restaurants all the time, everywhere. So, I searched Yelp for an Indian restaurant and found Passage to India and its high rating on Tripaadvisor. This is really a cheap and stingy place. First, every other Indian restaurant I have eaten, they serve Papadam (the lentil chips) free of charge. Here you have to pay $2.50 for just 2 chips. Next, we ordered several dishes that all came with raita. When our food came, the waitress brought a cup of raita, equivalent to 3 or 4 table spoons. When we asked where is the rest, she said this is the "large" portion - what a joke. Next, my wife and I wanted to share a full size chicken tandoori. We were told we would be charged an extra $5 for sharing. I then ordered a glass of wine. The waitress brought me a glass that had less than 3 ounces of wine in it. If you are a part of 5 people, they will automatically charge you %18 gratuity. The management of this restaurant should really rethink their strategy and what it means to be customer friendly. We made a huge mistake. You tell me, why would a big family of Indian people (with their grandma in tow) decide to take a chance on an Indian restaurant in Bontia Springs, FL? Because we are all crazy, you see. That and my grandma only eats Indian food. Good grief! I really wanted to like this place, but given the options and the reviews of other restaurants - this was the best of the worst. We were seated quickly and ordered the two mixed appetizer plates for our tables in order to stave off a hangry fit from my niece. The chicken and vegetable pakora, should have just been called chicken and vegetable tempura. There was no seasoning at all. It was just pieces of vegetable and chicken (concernedly indistinguishable from one another) fried and put on a plate. We hoped that our entrees would be better... we were wrong. The food lacked serious seasoning. And I am not someone who just munches on chili peppers for fun (like my sister-in-law) but I do appreciate some taste in my food. Especially Indian food! The butter chicken was an embarrassment and should be removed from the menu until they figure out how to fix it. The shrimp biriyani was spicy, but bizarrely bland (no salt) and the palak paneer was also mediocre at best. And, the most annoying thing of all was that the pricing for the food was absurd. $14 for a mushroom vegetable dish?! Are you kidding me?! $5 for naan?! It is absurd pricing for below average food. Overall, the only redeeming quality was the service. Which was fast and friendly throughout the meal and our MANY requirements for my grandmother. It is really unfortunate that this is the best option available for Indian food in the area. And to be honest, I don't think I am being too harsh. My American husband also agreed that this food left a lot to be desired and could do with some serious upgrading (like their decor). Overall, if you must, AND I MEAN MUST, eat some Indian food then yes, I suppose you can go here? But, why not save some money and get to a Trader Joes grab some frozen Indian meals and eat those instead? At least those will taste good. read more

Not even worth a 1 star. Went for a nice date night and ordered usually amazing dishes, well one dish was great, the other was a chicken madras. Numerous pieces of the chicken was so rubbery we weren't even able to chew it, it was so awful. So we re-ordered a new dish, they came back minutes later saying they were out of the shrimp and scallops. So once again had to order another dish which was the sea bass. We received the new dish, now sea bass is typically sweet, tender and flakey to where you can cut through it with a fork. This sea bass was horrifically tough to cut through. Lamb korma was great, (3rd) dish ( sea bass madras) was just a disappointment. Chefs fault I'm sure.. Okay to cut it short. We got our bill and they charged us for the 23$ sea bass. So of course since it was their fault for the disgusting chicken dish and being as they were out of seafood on a Tuesday night, we, as any person going out to dinner, would feel as if they should at least charge for the original dish of 18$, well no, our bill read 23$ for sea bass and so on. We call over the (owner) Angela and was she ever one of the most awfully rude person we have ever dealt with. She had the nerve to tell us we were the only complaint of the night & blatantly telling us, the customers we were wrong! She also was so abruptly crude after we nicely explained how we felt it was fair to charge for the original plate, that she didn't care what we thought, she just wanted her money. WELL WE WERE REPEAT CUSTOMERS, NEVER AGAIN WILL WE GO TO A BUSINESS WITH A TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETHIC AS SUCH, AND WITH A CHEF LIKE THAT THEY WILL NOT STAY IN BUSINESS LONG. STAY FAR AWAY! read more

It was a terrible experience. Owners were not accomodating simple request. We started with wine. Some what poor qualty for plus 5Dollar a glass. we order Samosa. For an indian Restaurent, they were bland . For dinner we made a special request, if theycan serve one item witout onion. They refused. My wife happens to be allergic to onion. Out of 20plus items on menu, they didn't have a courtsey to cook one item without onion. They claim to cook every dish fresh.I dont believe they do. We had to leave the restaurent and found wondrful place called "Falafal Grill". We had no problem. Besides, place was lighted and clean. Passage to India was filthy and poorly lighteed. I dont believe it has any thing to do with India. We learned later on it is run by people from Bangla Desh. May be more appropriate name is "passage to Bangla Desh".
