It was a terrible experience. Owners were not accomodating simple request. We started with wine. Some what poor qualty for plus 5Dollar a glass. we order Samosa. For an indian Restaurent, they were bland . For dinner we made a special request, if theycan serve one item witout onion. They refused. My wife happens to be allergic to onion. Out of 20plus items on menu, they didn't have a courtsey to cook one item without onion. They claim to cook every dish fresh.I dont believe they do. We had to leave the restaurent and found wondrful place called "Falafal Grill". We had no problem. Besides, place was lighted and clean. Passage to India was filthy and poorly lighteed. I dont believe it has any thing to do with India. We learned later on it is run by people from Bangla Desh. May be more appropriate name is "passage to Bangla Desh". Indian Restaurents and Indian owned hotels/motels are normally very hospitable and accomodating. read more

They are overwhelmed and under staffed. I ordered hot vindaloo and got extremely hot one. I am from Southern India and trust me I can't eat. When complained about it they became very offensive and rude. I paid the bill for $28 and left. I thought the expensive menu includes good service as well. I don't understand some of the negative reviews....but this is one of the BEST Indian restaurant I've ever tasted. Always a good meal, cozy inside, and nice & knowledgeable staff. We've been eating there for years. Love everything. Plus they just did a little remodeling and it's even more splendid! Don't miss this place. Had been here several times and food was very good. When I went with my adult daughter who has a certified service dog, the owner wanted us to leave. I explained the Americans with Disabilities Act, and he then claimed he was fully booked. The place was 2/3 empty! After saying we could call the sheriff to explain the law, he reluctantly seated us. When we left it was still half empty. I don't care how good the food is if he's willing to break the law and embarrass my daughter. We won't be back. read more

The other night we had a taste for Indian food and decided to try "Passage to India" and it was a very good choice. The place was quite crowded but the owner/hostess was still able to find us a nice table but cautioned our dishes might take a little longer. The solicitous waitress took our orders and appeared shortly with our onion nan and three different spreads. This appetizer plus our drinks kept us busy until the arrival of our dishes, which were slightly delayed....but we had been warned. My "King Prawns Tikka Masala" were excellent: large and succulent in a mouth watering sauce!! The others at our table also enjoyed their "Chicken Tikka Masala" and "Butter Chicken and We, obviously, all had a fine time at "Passage To India". read more

Food was below average, service slow and unprofessional, we had to ask several times to clean up used plates before serving next course. When I complained about automatically charged 18% tip (I would tip less for such service) I was told by manager that it is normal for party of 5 (we were 5 inclusive my 8yrs old daughter). When I mentioned that food was not that good and service was not adequate manager told me to not to come back. She mentioned that I can rate and review her restaurant wherever I want, she do not care. Second time dining here. The service was attentive and prompt. The food was excellent and the ambiance was comfortable.

I'm always hesitant to try a new Indian restaurant due to the fact that it can sometimes be completely hit or miss. I don't know what the bad reviewers are complaining about. I think some of these people have no idea what Indian food is supposed to be like. Lol I like the one where they told the proprietor to "prepare the food Indian-style". IT'S AN INDIAN RESTAURANT! GET OVER YOURSELF! Some say that the food lacks spice-they specifically state on the menu that they prepare their dishes mild and to feel free to ask them to make it hotter. I ordered chicken tikka masala and channa masala and asked for them both hot and they were very well spiced. Some people have also complained about the lack of meat/cheese/etc. in their dishes but I found that we received hearty portions of everything. I also had the samosas which were large and filling and the outer dough was nice and flakey. We got a couple of orders of naan to go with everything and I'll admit that some was cooked perfectly and some was underdone but whatever. The whole point of it is to have another vessel to scoop delicious sauce into your mouth so it served it's purpose! I haven't been able to find decent Indian food in this area and if this is what we have to settle for since it is the only place I think we could do a lot worse. We chose this restaurant over another that had better reviews due to the atmosphere. I wish we hadn't. The I eat indian often as my family is half indian so was expecting at least average food. Unfortunately from the beginning ordering garlic nan at an upcharge there was no garlic to be seen save for three tiny bits on one slice. Next the accompanying chutneys did not taste quite right. I ordered tandoori chicken which was moist and tender but very little flavor - bland. I asked for a side of masala sauce as the tandoori dishes are in general dry. I requested medium spice but it was quite mild and devoid of flavor. I requested something to spice it up and the waitress was nice enough to bring me that but to get to the right heat it ruined the taste of the sauce. the final insult was when i got the bill and found our that on a $17 platter I was charged $7 for and inch of the bland sauce. I called her over to discuss it and she said that it was homemade so hence the price. In my experience all indian restaurants make their own sauce so a cop out response. My wife had a vegetable dish which was mediocre. Next time I will go for food quality over atmosphere. read more

We have been eating Indian food in Boston, Cambridge, and NYC for 30 years. We went here recently on a Saturday night, a bit nervous about how it would be given our standards. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing, and we have lots to compare to. The decor also was very pleasing, with an Indian spin including beautiful colorful tablecloths with sequins. The restaurant is pretty and comfortable. The only negative was that service was very slow and because we had not ordered appetizers, it was a long wait. The waitress, who was lovely, explained to us that the owner cooks each order himself. But the wait was worth it. The saag paneer, which for us is the "acid test" of an Indian restaurant, was a bit different than what we are used to but was outstanding, as was the lamb biryani. The naan was wonderful too and the regular rice was exceptionally flavorful. Next time, I will get a lassi (yogurt drink) to sip on while I wait for the food, and that will hold me if there is a long wait again. The portions were huge and even though we were ravenous,we had lots of leftovers, and that made the prices more than reasonable. One more thing - I know that a lot of people assume that Indian food will be hot/spicy and so avoid it out of fear. While Indian food can be spicy, I can only eat mild food, and this restaurant, as well as every other Indian restaurant at which I have eaten, accommodated my need. The food was loaded with flavor and seasonings, but no "heat", at my request. You can order each dish as mild, medium, or hot. This restaurant is in a strip center behind some other buildings so can be a bit hard to find. There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk. read more
