We knew Mike Easton (of Il Corvo fame in Seattle) was involved in building the menu of this place. So we made reservations here as soon as we made plans to visit Walla Walla. The place is huge and has so many different places to seat. We got outdoor seating and on a summer day, it was perfect. We had: Carbonara pasta - it was to die for. We were anticipating a great meal but it was so disappointing. My daughters ordered a gluten free pasta and since she is dairy free, she asked for no cheese. One little speck of green came in the pasta with spicy sausage and that was it. To make up for not having cheese, more spinach or something. It looked as plain as it tasted. We asked for marinara sauce to add more flavor. Instead of seeing what could be done to make the dish more appetizing, we were brought a cold ramekin of marinara. We had to ask for it to be heated up. It was terrible. We couldn't wait to leave. The Buffalo cauliflower was great The Carbonara pasta was bland too. The bottom sauce is a mix of Alfredo and Chickpeas Tahini served with homemade ear shaped pasta, spinach and oh GOD,... fried chickpeas. Recently had dinner here as a party of 3. The reservation process was easy and I was kept informed over text. The outside of the building is nothing special to look at, but inside is simple and classic. The bar was loud, but the booth kept the noise mostly at bay. The server was friendly (maybe a little too much, sometimes it felt fake). We had the prosciutto and peaches pizza which was amazing, as well as a creamy pancetta carbonara. We cleaned our plates! We really enjoyed eating on the patio here. We came with a larger group so we ordered everything family style. This meant that you basically got 2 bites of everything which was a great way to experience the menu, since I suspect 1 entree might not have been enough food for me by itself. The flavors were very Interesting and the crust was on the thinner side with the perfect chew. Next we had the ceasar salad, made with carefully dressed individual leaves, and the burrata with in-season tomatoes. Yum. We tried 2 pastas, but I would love to try them all. The rigatoni was cooked to perfection. Amazing bite of the pasta and full flavored bolognese. The carbonara was also good, but could a touch of salt and some pepper (IMO). This place was recommended to us and we ended up sitting at the bar for dinner. My husband asked about a table that sat empty for 55 minutes but they would not seat us at the table. We would have ate and left. As we were waiting for a table the bar tender asked us, four times if we were ready to order. I asked him if we need to rush. He said no we're not that busy at the moment. We ordered our food, sat at the bar because no table became available. I had the New York steak which was very salty but tender. My husband had the lasagna and it was three pinwheels of cheese and sauce. Very disappointing. I would think twice before we went back. read more

It was busy on this Sunday night -- apparently this is one of the few restaurants open for dinner on Sunday in Walla Walla. The evening was nice, but almost everything was a near-miss -- good but could have been great. This is a 3.5 star review, but I tilted up to 4 stars because I think more was right than wrong. We had 6:15 reservation and were seated fairly promptly on the patio, which is a nice upscale setting, modern, private and oasis-like. Quite lovely until the sun set at about 7:30 and it became almost comically dark. I had to ask for another candle on the table so I could see my food, and people at other tables were using their phone flashlights. Not good. String up some nice cafe twinkle lights ... problem solved. Our specialty cocktails were refreshing creations ($15 each) if a little too busy with five or six ingredients in each (the "Herb in Legend" was not well balanced -- too much citrus juice (lemon AND lime) masked the other flavors like the Lillet or rosemary). The classic caesar salad was good but overdressed. The radicchio caesar salad -- I loved this idea for putting a twist on the caesar! -- was also overdressed and poorly balanced (the pepperoncini should have been an occasional tart accent, not totally overpower the already spicy radicchio). For our second course we had a delicious carbonara ($18) -- buttery and peppery with lots of pancetta -- but oddly served in a small bowl, like one might have ice cream in. The portion size was fine, but it would have been a much better presentation in a larger bowl -- like the one the other pasta was served in. That was the rigatoni bolognese ($25), which was a little too watery and montonous. It just wasn't delectable. Happily, the pasta in both dishes ideally al dente. We very much liked our server, but the pacing of the evening was off -- some items came quickly, others were a lengthy wait (to the point where the server had to say "your next course should be out soon, I promise!") Two cocktails, four plates, and three glasses of wine between us came to $150 before tip. Overall: all the elements are there for an elevated dining experience, they just need some finesse. First order of business, rethink the lighting situation on the patio. read more

However, was offered a "special appetizer" (a half dozen small spare ribs) that ended up being more expensive than any other app and priced similar to an entree but offering very little. We called and made reservations a couple of months in advance for 6 people. Received a confirmation by email. When we called yesterday they said we had no reservation but kindly fit us in. We asked what the charge was for corkage fee for a bottle of wine - we were told $18. So we took in a bottle to share with our table. At the end of dinner they charged us $40 corkage fee. When we questioned it the server said if we didn't know who we talked to they couldn't reduce our fee. She should have let us know ahead of time that their corkage fee was $40 - we would not have opened our wine. The food was good but not great. The focaccia was drowning in oil - we had 1 piece but didn't eat more than half. Overall we were disappointed in the food and service. read more

We spent a belated 41st Anniversary dinner here at Passatempo. We'd been looking forward to this dining experience. There is no question that their food is top notch! We started with cocktails and Focaccia bread. The Dirty Martini I had was so smooth there leaves no doubt that they have the best bartender in town! Then came our meal. My hubby loves their Spaghetti & Meatballs. I had the Bolognese. Both delicious and quite filling, though we did order extra meatballs.. Oh my gosh, those meatballs, my mom and my grandma made better. What can I say. Next on to dessert. We ordered the Italian Olive Oil Cake which can only be described as leaving you wanting more. It was decadent. It was mouth watering. It was so yummy! Wow! Our server was outstanding and very knowledgeable. I was impressed being Italian myself. He knew what he was talking about. Kudos to him. All the staff at Passatempo are kind and courteous. They add to a very pleasant atmosphere! Passatempo never disappoints. They have the best Italian food in the Valley. Hmmmm would love to see a delicious crab lasagna with a lobster and shrimp cognac tomato stock all stewed down For this crab lasagna that I've created in my head.
