The olives are a must have appetizer. The olives are the best olives I have ever tasted. They are marinated in lemon and orange rind, rosemary, basil, garlic. I had the meatballs which were loaded with flavor from the herbs. Great bar to sit at and have conversation with the bartenders. Very attentive to needs! Wow! Impressive dining experience @ Passatempo Taverna in Walla Walla, WA.!! We were in desperate need of a delicious dinner on our last night in town, and we cannot thank Passatempo enough for making our dreams come true! The restaurant itself has a dimly lit, minimally decorated, comfortable setting. We were impressed with the dinner service and incredible drinks, appetizers, and entrees. Passatempo is easily my favorite restaurant in Walla Walla. I always take visiting friends and family, and it's a perfect date-night spot. The pasta is handmade, the focaccia bread is unbelievable, and they have the best pizza in town. They also make their own ranch. Solid experience Buratta with heirloom tomatoes: tasted pretty much as described and expected. Decent sized buratta, so it can me a good amount of cheese for 1 or 2 people. I liked the flaky salt on top. Focaccia: fresh with a good amount of olve oil on top and studded with roasted garlic inside. Fairly crispy crust and soft inside. Good, not sure if amazing. Only get if you really like bread and carbs. Carbonara: fairly heavy and a bit on the dry side. I typically like my pastas a bit more moist and saucey. The pancetta gave a very strong bacon flavor, maybe too much. Not sure if they also added bacon or not, but it was thinly sliced. I thought the dish was good/ok, my friend not as much. Puttanesca: in my opinion the best dish of the night. Strong anchovy flavor! So only get this if you like that. Umami, salty, tomatoey, saucey, good pasta texture. The lady bartender also clearly cares about her drinks. My friend doesn't drink much and asked for theid cocktail with half a shot (less booze). The bartender comes to the table to make sure that's what they wanted and advised that the flavor balance may he thrown off (too sweet) if they did that. Our large group was hosted for dinner here by Fascination St. Fine Art gallery and famous sculpture artist Nano Lopez . This was on 10/06/23. The food and staff here were extraordinarily gracious in serving such a large group flawlessly. We had wine and some of their Specialty Cocktails. The food was amazing. We had many appetizers and house made pasta dishes and a wonderfully grilled Beef Steak. What a wonderful meal. We had a family style meal, like you would have at an Italian family dinner in Italy. We liked this place, but make sure you book dinner for earlier rather than later. We got a spicy radicchio salad to start. The croutons were great and we liked how even the dressing was covered on all the leaves. It started out tasting a bit more anchovy-forward than we normally like, but it mellowed out after a few bites. The peppers in there were super tasty. We also got a side of the Brussels sprouts in bechamel sauce; wow. That combo was delightful. If we came back we would 100% order that again. The Brussels were cooked to perfection, too. For our mains we got one of the specials (ricotta chicken ravioli, with kale and lemon oil and capers). We are very glad we did because it was our favorite dish. We're even going to try to recreate it at home! For our second main we got a zozzona pasta. It was good. It didn't rock our worlds but it was tasty. We did like how crispy the meat was. The biggest down side of the whole experience for us was that we booked a later dinner time (8:15), which meant they were entirely out of pizza. Our original plan was to have both pizza and pasta, so we had to instead go with double pasta when we learned they were out of pizza. It was a double whammy, too, because their other special was a pizza honoring pie day (we were there March 14th), which was a chicken pot pie pizza! read more

We visited Passatempo Taverna for dinner, which was a good spot for some Italian eats. It's a popular spot in downtown Walla Walla for elevated, Italian cuisine, with a full drink menu and friendly staff. For the four of us, we shared a few appetizers: the burrata, caesar salad and the focaccia. All of the appetizers were delicious, but I would say the burrata is not to be missed! Burrata had crostinis for spreading, but it also had some white beans that went well. Loved how creamy and light the burrata was. But again, all of the shared plates we had were tasty. For my entrée I ordered the Italian sausage and mushroom pizza, as the server recommended that I try that since they make and hand-toss the dough. The crust was very good, and liked that it was doughy, but still firm enough to hold up all the goods. The sausage had a good flavor to it, and I really liked that it had jalapenos for some extra spice. Overall, this was a great place for dinner. The menu featured a handful of traditional, Italian eats, like hand-tossed pizzas, pastas and a steak dish or two. Staff was very friendly. Really lovely spot with housemade pastas! We started with the burrata appetizer. Whenever I see burrata on a menu, it's hard to not try it! It came with a panzanella and vegetable salad. We visit Walla Walla at least once a year (twice so far this year!) and we ALWAYS make reservations for dinner at Passatempo. It is THAT good, people! For starters, I love their prosciutto di parma; a half portion is great for two people. If they have the beet salad in season, that's also delicious. The housemade pastas are divine. I love the Bolognese, Carbonara, Gricia, Amatriciana (it's spicy!), and if they have a clam pasta special, GET IT. So good. The servings are also the perfect portions. They arrive on these small-ish pasta plates so you think maybe it's not enough. But it is. These are housemade pastas with classic sauces, and the portions they serve are perfect. In fact, I couldn't finish my carbonara and took the rest back to the hotel for midnight snack! Dessert is also always a win here. There is usually some gelato on the menu with one vegan/dairy-free option, which makes me happy. And as you would suspect in Walla Walla, the wine list is fantastic. Came here with a group of 6 on Saturday night (with reservations) - we were seated promptly in a booth. Space is industrial country/quirky, with a bar and outdoor patio. Most of the group ordered cocktails (based on local recommendations!) And everyone enjoyed them! I can't quite remember which ones, but most of the cocktail menu! Started with garlic and sun dried tomato focaccia and cold bean salad special, filled by the pesto pasta special and carbonara and rosemary and potato pizza. Pizza was interesting- not everyone in the group would've picked it but everyone loved it! Bean salad was delicious (beans, snap dragon garnish, flat lead parsley, pistachio, a light dressing) and so was the bread (we almost ordered more!). I liked both pastas, the pesto orecchiette had pesto, tomato and I think Parmesan? I wasn't quite sure. The carbonara was standard but used high quality ingredients(nice pancetta!), my only issue is I prefer with penne or a pasta that can get a bit more saucy! Would definitely recommend for an evening dinner, a date, when you're just wanting good food. We were interested in dessert but wanted to get back to our airbnb to chill. Came hundreds of miles away and heard this was the Italian restaurant to go to. Don't waste your money it's way overrated...it was my wife's birthday tonight and they sat us behind the bar not in the plant and fire table section (it's fine but I would have waited for an open table there and they didn't give an option). Was greeted at the table fast but then it took quite a while for the server to come back. Once we ordered, we got the Caesar salad to split. It was such a small portion and tasted so fishy it was inedible. I love Caesar salad but no way anyone can eat this. We got the pasta for $26 and it was tasty but the portion was so small. Go to Olive Garden instead trust me. Wish I could get that $100 back and nothing done special for my wife's birthday. I will never come back again read more

An absolutely fantastic dinner last night for the four of us. New York steak which was cooked to perfect medium rare and lightly seasoned. Cacio e Pepe pasta as well which was perfection. The food was good. My husband ordered a Manhattan. The waitress asked if he wanted an orange peel garnish and he said sure(a lot of times it is served with this). When we received the bill she added $2.00 for the orange peel! That was so weird! Just charge more for the freakin' drink! Thought that was so tacky and petty! YELP FOR THE WIN!!! Pulled into my hotel in this tiny town and it was almost 8:30pm on a Monday. Pizza Hut was in the hotel parking lot but I wanted a good "Napoletana" style pizza. Found this place close by and hurried over. Ordered the "Basil Pesto Shaved Zucchini Pizza" and it was DELICIOUS!!! The space is lovely and I've enjoyed some interesting meals here, however the service is inconsistent and the host is generally unfriendly. With reservations, one can expect to wait quite a while and some of the seating areas aren't particularly comfortable. While many dishes are excellent, the flavors don't always hit the mark. I've tried their takeout pasta during COVID (they precooked and delivered to Seattle) and that was so awesome I wanted to see what the restaurant was like. Passed through on a road trip and finally got my chance. The menu was more limited (no lasagna) but it forced us to try new things. Started with prosciutto and melon - it was a massive mound and came with delicious breadsticks. Coupled with one of the best pizzas I've ever had - smoked pork belly and roasted garlic with fresh arugula. Just those two dishes would have warranted 5 stars. The service was professional- attentive without being intrusive and our server was incredibly well-versed with the menu to make great recommendations. Well done. Pastas were the bolognese with ricotta and americiana with Parma ham. Oh my!! The pasta was cooked to perfection. The meat and ricotta blended perfectly on the rigatoni. The spaghetti with Parma and chili's were just spicy but not overpowering. These two danced together on my plate like a romantic tango. I have to rank this in my top 2 Italian restaurants ever. My husband and I went to Passatempo Taverna for dinner this evening. We were walk-ins and sat at the bar since their tables were full/reserved for the next few hours. We were really impressed with the food and service! We each had a cocktail - I had the Staycation and my husband had the Little Italy - and started with the focaccia appetizer. For dinner, I had one of the specials, which was the Pasta alla Norma, and he had the Zozzona. Both were perfectly portioned and delicious. We ended our dinner with coffee. Throughout our dining experience, the service was fast and smooth. Our food came quickly and as soon as we finished each course, the empty dishes were swept away. We had a great experience and would love to come back next time we are in Walla Walla. read more
