We weren't expecting to find a legit coffee shop in this little town but what a peasant surprise! I'm currently drinking my latte breve and it's deliciously smooth! Service was friendly and timely. The shop is inviting and comfy. The biggest secret about this place is how legit the baked goods are! The pistachio muffin was moist and flavorful. Wow! YUMMY for the tummy!!! My wife took me here for our anniversary weekend and this was our first stop in TorC. I had the Elvis-waffles and they were DELICIOUS!!! HUGE (I couldn't finish them), but delicious!! The coffee was delicious and service was very friendly. It's a very small joint with local art for sale on the walls, which I love. This is definitely our favorite food stop in T or C. We have sat in the tiny dining room once to have a full breakfast, but it is just too cramped. Thus, we greatly prefer to stop in for the exciting assortment of fresh pastries and take them for the road. To date, we have been impressed by the quality and flavor of every single pastry we have tried. This visit included a Peppermint Patty Mocha, in which the peppermint was too subtle for Raz to detect, though I enjoyed it greatly. One day, when the success of this amazing cafe allows it to expand the dining room, I aim to try the Fat Elvis. Until that time I will just savor our regularly acquired road snacks in the form of tarts, muffins, and cupcakes of the highest quality. read more

Worth a drive of an hour or two. This place is cozy and the food was great. We got green chile cuocake with cream cheese icing, a you're a ho ho cupcake, spanakopita, coconut pumpkin curry soup and the chile, corn and feta quiche. Everything was perfect. Lots of fresh vegetables prepared well, baked items tasted like they were made from scratch. I will definitely be back and recommend you make the trip to T or C to eat here. read more

While not right off the highway (about 2 miles away), this coffee shop in Truth or Consequence, NM is definitely worth the drive. It's a very cute shop run by nice ladies with a clean bathroom, along a street from a bygone era. I wish I had more time to enjoy the local flavor but it seems most things are closed on Sunday. Had a pretty yummy vanilla latte and a delicious magic bar as the store was about to close. I'm glad I got in when I did and would recommend it to anyone driving by. read more

I don't even know were to start. The Passion Pie Cafe was incredible!!! The food was all from scratch and the waffles were light, crispy and delicious. The owner was sweet and let us sample here scones with figs and cardamon. Needless to say we left with several pastries to share with family. I Had the fat Elvis, not impressed. Menu states the fat Elvis comes with Bacon. I assumed it came as a side in strips, instead they chop up just a little bacon and add it to the waffle batter. Totally not worth the extra money. You don't taste the saltiness you would expect. The peanut butter overwhelmed the bacon and the peanuts were dry roast which was off putting. read more

Terrific stories are told at Passion Pie Cafe. Our last visit, I heard three of them, all wildly diverse, with one universal thread: this Truth or Consequences place, it's unlike any town, anywhere. In Minnesotan talk, T or C is "different" (that's how midwestern types term literally anything they're unfamiliar with, from food to ethnicity). And I had an absolute blast being a fly on the wall, listening in. There was the couple from southern California, they were on their way home from a west coast road trip, stopped in, decided to say an extra day, then another, then another. A retired couple from Dallas pulling a fifth wheel, talking about how they visit this town twice every year, just for the hot springs. And the woman from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she had the story I was hoping to hear: years ago, she and her husband visited this small town on a whim. "As soon as we got here, we knew we were staying. This place, it has this incredible energy, you feel it everywhere you go. So we just moved here." (For the record, no, she wasn't burning a bundle of sage, but yeah, she was a lil' hippie-dippy. She was Different.) Aside from some fabulous baked goods and a fair smattering of breakfast and lunch plates, these guys cook up the best waffle I've ever tasted, especially the bacon bits varietal. It's not a waffle, really, because if it was, I wouldn't care. I'm not a waffle person. These are buttery, rich, syrup's almost unnecessary. Servers are efficient and not particularly interested in conversation. That's where the stories come in. Prepare to wait for a table and meet some strangers. read more

They like to yell the orders from front to the back kitchen which is great and fun. They seem to treat each customer individually and with respect. Love these ladies. The problems with this cute little restaurant would be so easy to solve. When we got to the restaurant the owner gave us a free green chile and pineapple cupcake which was delicious and a nice touch. We also ordered lunch which cost $40 for 4 people for are breakfast fare. The register gives you an opportunity to give a tip but it's not clear that the one waitress doesn't actually DO anything. She calls you when your food is ready and you wait your own table. She provides cups with ice but you have to get your own water. To make matters worse, the useless waitress didn't make one of the drinks we had paid for. So I would say I would eat here again but ignore the tip line on the square reader. Last comment is that this place is called Passion Pie café but at 1pm on a Sunday they had no pie. read more

This place redefined the word enjoy! I hat the two eggs, bacon, & croissant meal and a house coffee & Shuji had the Fat Elvis waffle...and both were unparalleled in quality and flavor! Shuji said it was the best waffle he's ever had & I'm making sure we stop here for breakfast again tomorrow so I can have one. I love the way they cook their eggs here, the bacon was cooked to perfection, the croissant was buttery, flaky, and soft...the best croissant I've ever had! they even added a fresh slice of watermelon to my plate & it was a great addition! Back in T or C and was lucky enough to find this place. It is a great place to find any kind of breakfast brunch and lunch delectable you are looking for. Everything is made fresh and most days you can see three elderly ladies take on the baking duties of the day. Their passion comes out in the food. It was so great we came back the next day! First thing you notice on menu is the croissant variety sandwiches. Great array of delicious choices with fresh ingredients. They also have spectacular hot or cold drinks. The first day our croissants were so light and fluffy, it was heavenly. My CBLT was so good I could have eaten a second one (one is plenty though). The waffles are crispy and sweet, their maple is runny and rich. The second day however is the reason this place lost two stars. The second day the young lady at the counter was quite rude to my group and I. As well as certain other guests that came in while we waited. Unfortunately, I believe this place is used to a certain clientele they give preference to. I did not feel welcomed the second day, I felt as though this young lady was forcefully taking our order. If T or C wants to be a hub for the new space port, small town minds need to take off their blinders and know humanity knows no skin color. read more

Everything is also from scratch so it might take a little longer to get food, but it is well worth the wait. Croissant was a bit over done/toasted for my taste but it didn't make a impact on overall flavor. Lunch: Kitchen sink salad that cucumbers, tomato, grapes, almonds, apple, cranberry and berries. Added a scoop of tuna which was also delicious. Dessert: Key lime donut was amazing! But prepare for lots of sugar. Same with peanut butter cookie. Stopped in after a night stay at one of the local hot spring motels. Heading out early, saw the the open sign and decided to stop in. We weren't disappointed. We were given a sample of the sausage gravy muffin hot out of the oven. I was sold. My husband had the two egg breakfast which was very good. And the coffees were excellent. There was also some kind of crispy rice date ball. That was good too. But that muffin was soooo good. If you go there, get one of those. read more
