(We were lucky to get in last minute with a major football game falling at the same time as our appointment). The interior of the nail salon is so calming, love the soft lighting, the pleasant background music on, TV with close captioned Golden Girls going and bohemian interior with its crystal chandeliers, Moroccan stencils on one window, subway tile on a wall, and French chic pieces throughout. You don't feel like you're in a nail salon. Estella and Michelle did our honey and milk spa pedicures (the upgrade was worth it) and regular manicures. Both were great and our paws and hands feel so much better as a result. I wish this salon existed back home... I love the little touches as well on how this salon supports good causes and takes the longer route to remove gel versus electric filing which always feels like it damages the top of my nail. Really great business and looking forward to return visits!

Please note, because of this timing, and that no one in my life gets this done, I have no basis of comparison other than a few previous manicures. After needing some TLC, I booked an appointment with Gingerslam Nail Bar for a standard Mani-Pedi. Nothing fancy, no colors or shapes, just enough to bring them up to factory spec. The experience was alright. While I wouldn't go as far as to say it was painful, the discomfort in my cuticles being pushed back and trimmed was greater than I'd encountered in the past. Also, while it felt nice at the time, the oil used on my feet was less thrilling when it met sock and shoe. Finally, one other thing I wasn't thrilled about: In going from the pedi-chair to the mani-chair, I was given a pair of disposable flip-flops. These things were so hilariously flimsy and ill-fitting, my freshly cleaned feet kissed the floor more times than once. Thus, while not a negative experience, I can't say it was an extremely positive one. Though my nails, hands, and feet felt good after, this is counterbalanced by the discomfort of the procedure itself, and feet-on-bare-floor. While a rare luxury, it shouldn't include this level of discomfort, in my opinion. As such, I believe my next nail-care appointment will be somewhere else.

The salon is very clean and bright. I was greeted right away and only had to sit for a minute before Phiwan came out to grab me. The room was cozy and serene. I felt very comfortable on the table. Phiwan set to work right away and immediately honed in on where my biggest knots and pain were and dug in. It was the perfect amount of pressure and I was able to fully relax. The salon looked great and I enjoyed chatting with the receptionist. I'm interested in trying their other services in the future.

She was unfriendly from the start, handled my hands very roughly, and ended up cutting my finger badly enough that it bled. What upset me most was that she didn't apologize or show any concern. When I politely asked, "Could you please be a little gentler?" she told me to leave and refused to finish my manicure. This isn't a high-end salon--it's a small, somewhat dirty, no-frills neighborhood nail shop. I've been here twice before, mainly because they're open late, and until today I'd only been helped by Jennie. I was shocked by how disrespectfully I was treated and left extremely disappointed. No customer should be spoken to or treated that way, especially after being injured during a service. To top it off, I still paid for half of the service even though it was never completed. I didn't want to argue, but I certainly didn't feel they had earned my business. I won't be returning.

While I will say this included some nice amenities with the pedicure like a leg scrub in the hot towel steam, I cannot speak for the quality of the actual polish and work done by the technician. This is probably the worst overall nail product. I've been left with from a salon appointment. The nails are textured and peeling three of them have already peeled off. When I paint my nails at home, I can usually keep the polish on for about two weeks and this hasn't made it three days. The workers were very nice, and overall the salon was relatively clean, but I will not be returning. When the bottle of white that I chose was starting to run a little dry, a different white was substituted for one nail and, to me, the difference is stark. Overall, the service took about two hours which surprised me because with a basic mani pedi typically you're out much quicker than that. The technician started over on my nails multiple times, completely removing all polish, to try again, which was odd to me. From the pictures you can see that the final product I was left with was very bubbly and uneven. I paid $60 in total and the value was very much not worth it.

I spoke to the front desk because nothing was actually addressed the front desk because of the unpleasant experience I had. Then dissatisfaction with my actual nails. Which is shat anyone would do. Also I didn't trust the hygiene after I used the bathroom causing me to find a reason to cancel my pedi. You shouldn't defend these nails. Please be for real. These are absolutely undeniably trash.

I also got the hot stone pedicure, I enjoyed the leg massage it came with. There were a couple of times where I just melted into the massage chair. Honestly I'm definitely coming back again.

I have tried every single person in this salon for both manicures and pedicures, and unfortunately the quality is consistently poor. At best, the work is careless; at worst, it has caused real damage to my nails. Over time, my nails went from healthy to severely thinned, brittle, and painful. Improper filing, aggressive cutting, and poor technique caused ingrown nails and hangnails, and my nails were left so thin they were essentially paper-like. I now have to "retrain" my nails to grow straight again because of how badly they were cut and filed. The owner is rude and dismissive. On one occasion, he actually criticized the condition of my nails--nails he himself had done two weeks earlier. Most recently, after a particularly bad service in January, the damage became painful. When I returned for help, I was told I should have come in sooner--even though I work full-time and the salon closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays. When I did come back due to pain, they clipped off my no-chip polish on my toes, attempted to fix the issue, failed, and then simply painted over it instead of redoing the work properly. A week later, I returned again to have everything removed. I strongly advise not allowing the older gentleman to work on your hands or feet. His filing was so aggressive that another nail technician immediately pointed out the damage. You could clearly see where my nails had been unevenly and incorrectly cut. The photos show the difference: the "before" nails are thin, white, and damaged; the "after" shows what healthy nails look like when done properly by a competent professional. Despite explaining that my nails were painful and damaged due to their service, the owner still charged me $45 just to remove the product. I take responsibility for continuing to go back longer than I should have--it was close to my home and I kept hoping it would improve. I regret that decision deeply. My nails are now so weak and brittle that it will likely take 4-6 months before I can even paint them again. If you care about nail health, cleanliness, or proper technique, do not go to this salon!! Please learn from my experience and save yourself the pain, damage, and money.

They wrote off the $5 up charge which was nice. The tech asked me if I do house work. It hadn't even been 24 hours yet. What does that even matter? Last time I got dazzle they lasted so long. I thought getting the no chip was the move until my nails started chipping on Monday. Less than 3 days later. Come onnnnn!!! I'm super over it, I don't have time to drive the 30 min to re do them again. I'm going on vacation with chipped nails which is annoying as heck! I'm pretty sure it's the techs technique because I've done my nails many times, at one point for a few years straight and never had this issue. Disappointed to say the least! Waste of time and money Really hard to see in the photos because I ended up doing a neutral color. Glad I did or they'd be super noticeable. SMH. My toes are great, did them pink and they are looking great 5 days later. A different tech did those and that may be why!

I mostly avoid manicures because I chip the polish in 24 hours but here we are 5 days later and my fingers still look like shiny disco balls. Why I would return: -comfortable seating at the nail tables. Sturdy with room for ample bottoms -friendly and efficient service. There is NO NEED to be at a nail salon for hours. We were out in 45 min max including dry time. -welcoming reception. I love seeing my people when I'm out and she was very warm and inviting. So much so when I told people where we went to get our nails done they asked if she was working. -good job on the polish. Clean lines, no smudge, long/lasting. -NO CHEMICAL SMELLS. The first time I visited was in the summer because I had a gift certificate. Sadly, my first time was not a great experience. I told the tech that I had ingrown toe nails. She did take care of it, but within a day, my toenail was infected, was painful, and had pus coming out. I almost didn't return. Then, when my salon closed, I decided to give You & Co another shot, since they have overwhelmingly positive reviews, and my first experience could have been a fluke. I wish I got the name of my nail tech for this second one because she did such an incredible job. My gel mani and pedicure were meticulously done, and my no-chip lasted for over 3 weeks. The third time, I had a guy, who was also meticulous. However, he recommended no more than 2 coats on my gel manicure. I get the reasoning so that my nails don't look thick, but unfortunately, my nails started chipping in less than a week. My pedicure lasted for over a month though! I am regular customer and come every 2-3 weeks. I now schedule an appointment, verus being a walk in due to wanting a popular nail tech. There has only being one time in my 1 year of being a regular that they could not serve me on a Saturday, but I had a time issue and should have scheduled. I tried this salon one day due to in being closer to my home than my prior nail salon and allowing walk-ins on Saturdays. They also do gel nails, dip (my fav) and acrylic, which I love. I will not say the nail tech that I schedule, but this person (they have both male and female nail techs) is amazing. My nails do not break or the paint does not peel. They take their time every time I book them, regardless if there is a appointment in back of me. I've never had to wait on my appointments as I try to schedule them a few days before and for a early time - like 10am. I now visit on the weekdays to ensure I can be seen by my preferred nail tech. I love it here. I've tried another place in nearby and I was not happy with my nails, nor did they last. I'm pretty hard on my nails, but do know a really good nail tech application can survive my treatment of the nails I get.
