It's a small shop without seating inside but there's a bench nearby and it's close to the seawall. The staff is always nice and welcoming. All gelato is made in store. So far, I have visited twice with a friend each time and I've had fresh mango, lemon, and pistachio. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the mango - it literally tastes like you're eating one. The only word of warning is that a new employee there gives you less than one who is not new. This gelato is delicious and creamy! We went two days in a row. We walked in and they were making the yuzu sorbet and it smelled delicious. The person working behind was so kind and let us try some. We were allowed to sample. You can also request to split a single scoop to have two flavors. We enjoyed the yuzu, hojicha, matcha, black sesame, tiramisu, salted caramel, london fog, and pistachio. What a surprise to discover this wonderful small little gelato place right next to Parq Vancouver. We walked in a Sunday night after dining at Honey and Salt and were left very impressed with the Gelato. We had the Grandma's Tiramisu which was absolutely spectacular! It was soft, creamy and the perfect strength of the tiramisù flavour. Service was friendly and quick, there wasn't a rush when we went in. Visited on a weekend to claim an Elite perk and decided on the ceylon tea coffee flavour since it looked intriguing (and my boyfriend already ordered the chocolate cherry). I expected the coffee to overpower the tea flavour but surprisingly, both flavours were perfectly balanced! The chocolate cherry was delicious too and balanced both the dark chocolate and tart cherry flavours. I can say that both did not disappoint! Mango: The texture was very smooth and elastic-y. Strong and fresh mango taste and was very refreshing. It was not overly sweet nor artificially tasting. I really did enjoy the texture of this one! Akbar Mashti: I gotta say, I always try flavours that I don't really know. Without googling what this was, I decided to try this! In the first bite, there was a strong rose taste, along with some sort of spice, to the gelato. There were also pistachio bits within as well. The texture was smooth and taste was light. Both my friend and I also really enjoyed this one. Upon googling, we realized that Akbar Mashti contains saffron, which was the spice that we had tasted. It is always interesting to try new things without knowing what is in it beforehand to give yourself some surprise! One scoop was $6.50, but the workers there fill the cup to the max and more. I think it was definitely worth it considering the quality of the gelato we received. I definitely will be back to try some of their other flavours! Small shop right by the bottom of a big hotel. We got the double scoop with hojicha and white sesame. Hojicha tastes rich and nutty - the toasted rice flavor definitely shines through. But I think the white sesame was actually my favorite - it tastes very natural and reminds me of childhood. Both flavors were not overly sweet but sesame was the slightly sweeter one while hojicha was more of a light sweet flavor. Docked stars because of (1) the no sample policy - would have loved to try some of the other flavors before committing even though I liked both flavors I ended up getting and (2) I noticed the gelato was melting really quickly and it also came softer than the other gelato I had in Vancouver. My order ($7.50 for 2 flavours in a cup): Pistachio: very nutty, smooth and creamy. Definitely for pistachio lovers, but it can get too heavy since it's super rich. I'd recommend sharing, so you can try other flavours as well. One of the best pistachio gelatos I've had overall. Thai Milk Tea: Unique gelato flavour, and I can taste the strong tea flavour which was amazing. Espresso Bits (not pictured): I came here on a separate day and forgot to take pictures. It had a decent amount of coffee flavour, and bits of grainy chocolate flakes (probably infused with ground espresso beans?). Also very rich and creamy. I liked that they had a good representation of flavours including vegan options. It was hard decision but as it's summer I selected the fresh mango and my friend had the BC blueberry. My mango gelato is vegan but the texture was so creamy and smooth that I couldn't believe it had no dairy in it. Simply refreshing and not too sweet. My friend loved her BC Blueberry. Will definitely come back to try the chocolate sea salt and grandma's tiramisu as my friend said those flavours were delicious.
