Sunday brunch, the best of the best, excellent value with six stars on food and four stars on service. 1) The classic Peruvian ceviche is the best of my encounters, most other places overpowered using the lime juices. 2) Gumbo had a ton of the crawfish, oyster and shrimp seafood, it had a strong spice flavor and flavor was delivered in a hot flat pan ... very southern warm feeling in the January winter time. 3) shrimp and grits on the other had is more French like with heavy hand in cream. One of my friends took me here for a birthday dinner, she's been a few times before so we went off of her recommendation. Our waitress, Charlie was soooooo cool!!! First time here tonight and I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Had the shrimp tempura roll as an appetizer and it was phenomenal. The crab cakes came at a steep price of $55 which gave me pause on deciding to order them, but I did and they were exceptional so I didn't regret it at all. The sides that we shared at our table were all excellent. Could it get better? Yes indeed as the key lime tart and churros were a perfect dessert ending. Came here with a large party, we sat in the back room that's closed off. Pre fixed menu w couple options for all 3 courses. The options they had were all pretty good. My steak was delicious. My wife didn't love her crab cakes but they were good to me and she's just picky af. Think I would prob give it all 4 stars but what really bumped it up to a perfect 5 was our server Claudia. I was a lil surprised there was just one person taking care of this party of 18 people. She wasn't just our server but our private bartender too. Anyway I've worked in the industry for decades and am not easily impressed. She killed it!! Great service and great Bartending. She was on top of everything and never seemed in the weeds. I visited during restaurant week for lunch. The ambiance is very nice and my party of 6 was seated right away. This is a great place for larger groups as the menu has great variety and the restaurant is spacious. I had the spicy salmon roll, seafood Cobb salad, and chocolate bomb. The appetizer and dessert were great and I would order again. The seafood salad ... not so much. It was just a little bit too much for me. There was shrimp, salmon, egg, bacon, and crab I think. Just a lot of flavors. I wish I would have orders either the hot chicken sandwich or a lobster roll. Overall, this is a great place for groups as they offer seafood, sushi, salads, soup, etc. Cards and Cash are accepted and service was quick. If you are just going for sushi, don't. I would give this a 2 Star review on the sushi. It was dry-tasting with gummy-like rice and fish that felt like it had sat in the open air too long. But they are more known for their house entrees and for those, PassionFish is about average from what I tastNothing blew me away but the tastes were fine if a bit bland. For instance, that Mac & Jack tasted like it had Velveeta instead of real cheese. The steak looked great presentation-wise but was a poor cut of meat, tough and largely flat tasting. The best thing we had was the Kung Pao Calamari. Good flavor and texture. The oysters were pretty good as well. Overall disappointed in the food (especially at this price point) but the service was excellent. If you go, avoid the sushi. There are so many better sushi options. But some of the appetizers are worth checking out. Maybe other entrees are good too (at least that is what other reviews seem to be saying). read more

I will start this by saying I am in the food business and would not write a food review that was adverse in these times unless it was warranted. This was my first time for dinner. I had previously met at Passion Fish for lunch which was fine. By the service was great all round. The Steak (New York Strip $45) our party ordered x 2 was terrible. It was poorly butchered by a novice and was completely tasteless. Even the butter on the top could not help it. The quality of the meat was perhaps the poorest we have had in years. Tip number 1, don't order the steak. The whole crispy flounder was not good. Flounder is a delicate white fish and not only had this one been overcooked where the flesh of the fish was pasty it was killed with a bottle of fish sauce. Maybe the reason was restaurant week, i don't know. A very expensive meal that we would rate as one of our worst. Not recommended. read more

Surprising but true - Passionfish hosts weddings (though my understanding is they've only hosted 2 to date). They will actually close the entire restaurant on Saturday night, move tables around to fit a dance floor, and can convert one of the rooms into a photo booth room. Both times I've been to Passionfish, it's been for weddings. It starts out with a lovely cocktail hour - shrimp and oysters on ice, and waiters walking around with tasty bruschetta, crab cakes, etc. This was followed by a 3 course meal - butternut squash soup, seared scallops, and raspberry sorbet. I was a big fan of the butternut squash soup, but the scallops were a bit undercooked. I can't place too much blame for the scallops, since they were serving so many people at the same time that there were bound to be a few off dishes. Overall, the service and food were great. I highly recommend, either for a dinner out or for a wedding! read more

Startes. That bread with the sea salt on top and the smoked white fish infuses butter...right on the money. It was delicious and we were off to an excellent evening of food and service. For appetizers we got the char-grilled baby octopus and the sea spider roll. The octopus was very tender and had a great char flavour. Sadly the hummus overpowered everything, but on its own it was so good. The roll had fried soft shell crab, fresh crab meat and masago roe. It was a generous portion and more than enough for the table. The fried crab stayed crunchy throughout. For an Entrée we all had a variant of the catch of the day. I had the mahi mahi and my husband had the red snapper. Both were grilled to perfection. Everything was flaky and the red snapper had skin on, just the way he likes it. Nothing was overcooked and they both had great fresh flavours. Both were very good filets. My husband had the red Thai curry sauce with his which didn't over power the snapper, but complimented it perfectly. For the sides: their grilled asparagus was was delicious, but the mac and cheese with lobster oh my god. It was more like lobster with mac and cheese. They were generous with the lobster and it was amazing. Their fries were on point, actual chips! Lastly the szechuan eggplant was sweet and flavourful. Up there in the best I have ever had. I couldn't stop trying to take my husbands. I would love to eat here again...and again. :-) read more

On special occasions we'll come here to order seafood towers. They are beautifully presented! My husband and I once came by ourselves and I ordered a crab stack which consisted of soft shell crab and crab meat layered with corn relish. It was delicious. My husband, however, looked over the menu too quickly and ordered "white fish" and was very perturbed when a whole fish arrived to the table with its eyes looking at him. Needless to say, he's never made that mistake again. I enjoy the bread and salmon butter at the beginning of the meal and really love the fruit and nut fudge at the end of the meal :) read more

So I'm updating my stars to 4 just because our bartender lady was so nice. I was here for their happy hour as usual and the level of service our bartender provided was extraordinary. (And I'm sorry I can't recall your name!) Among three of us we ordered: ceviche, crab & shrimp nachos, beef sliders, oyster shooters, eggrolls, and salmon sliders. All from the happy hour menu! They were delightfully flavorful, tasted so fresh, and the fried foods were so crispy and not at all oily. Their food has always been consistently delicious. Food: -Spicy salmon avocado roll-- I recommend it. -Peruvian-style ceviche: was alright, didn't wow me. -Crab cake sandwich: this was my favorite from the items we got today. The sandwich itself wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be but it was delicious, definitely recommend it. Made a reservation here for a birthday and at the top of the menu it said happy birthday! The food was great. The waitress was very attentive. The manager, Tom, was very rude. He turned off the lights and asked how the meal was then we stated we have not gotten it yet. Then we stated that we hoped not to keep the staff too late since our reservation started at 8:30 and he said "don't worry, they get paid enough." I am very disappointed that someone this rude is managing a restaurant because it changes the whole experience. read more

I came for brunch with some friends. They have one of the better deals for brunch in the area. I made a reservation online, just in case, since i had never been here. We were seated immediately. I arrived hungry (a little hangry, but that's besides the point) and left beyond satisfied. The service and servers were great!! The food was delicious, along with the drinks. This was our first outing to a restaurant since covid. I feel like the waitress tried to up sell us every opportunity she got, and with items that ended up being quite mediocre. I feel like the quality of food has really dropped this year. This is the best happy hour at the Reston Town Center. The Margaritas de Casa are just right. Stick to an original if you are not fond of sugary drinks. The Classic Peruvian Style Ceviche is really fresh and served in ice which keeps it cold while you work on your drink. Another of my favorites on the HH menu is the Crab & Rock nachos. The crab, cheese, nacho and pickled jalapeno combination is a delightful ride. I've also had the sushi and Louisiana's Seafood Gumbo. I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi and satisfied with the Gumbo but would probably not order the later again because there are other items on the menu i'd like to try. read more

We've tried several things, like a lobster bisque (or maybe that was clam chowder - can't remember anymore, there's only one of the two on the menu) and a grilled octopus - and they were ok. On top of it we ordered sushi, and we were told by the server how proud they are of their sushi here. Ok. Seriously. If you love super sticky rice, this might be your sushi place. As for me, this was probably some of the worst sushi I've had in my entire life (and I eat a lot of sushi). I couldn't get this rice off my teeth! I've never experienced anything like this. We had them coming in, disrupting patrons to take pictures, pose and shoot the breeze while standing at our table and literally pushing in my chair. I'm not a huge person and I'm not a hundred years old. But I admit I hate classless pretense. I loved everyone from the Maitre de, Hostess, Wait Staff and even folks in the kitchen (I get around). My Rock Shrimp and Beet salad, Lobster and Corn Chowder and Charbroiled Oysters were deliciously well prepared. I wasn't prepared by the rudeness (racism) of the over 60 patrons (flat out mean) or the wanna be 'Influencers'. I'm Gen X so I'm in between and I love to have fun so this is no slam on Passion Fish. read more

I did enjoy the crab and shrimp spring rolls (the only food that came out hot) I ordered the swordfish and creamy mushroom. They both taste great but I couldn't get over the fact I waited this long and my food was cold. My partner ordered the sea scallops oth the curry tai sauce unfortunately we weren't able to enjoy due to our food being cold. When we expressed our concerns to our server Kathy she didn't seem to concerned she apologized and said I'll let the manager know and offers desert. This is the best restaurant in Reston Town Center. I grew up in Herndon, VA my whole life so about 10 minutes away from here and this is the best new place in town! The ambience is extremely classy, the ceilings are so tall, with huge drop down lights everywhere the dining room is sharp and hip. I have gone with my family a few times and the service has been excellent. Cocktails: I love their Moscow mules. They also put a cute little mermaid drink decoration on the lip of my drink which was a fun touch! Appetizers: I loved the calamari - so light and airy and lemon-y! We also got oysters which were top quality and delicious, not too salty or fishy. Dinner: Their sushi is awesome! Love the captain crunch roll which is a shrimp tempura speciality roll. The scallops were also delightful, perfectly seared and soft on the inside. Dessert: I've had the creme brûlée and the warm donut holes which are the perfect sweet end to a great meal. Went for a family celebration. Sat on the patio, since the weather girl was beautiful outside. The patio chairs were very uncomfortable. Waiter was great and knew the menu well but the service was VERY slow. The restaurant appeared to be short staffed. They could've turned that table twice if they would've had more servers. Once our orders went in, the order was quickly delivered to out table. Tuna trio appetizer was great-very fresh. The Spanish octopus was delicious and had a room temp gazpacho-like sauce. The Shrimp And Pork Potstickers were crispy but I would have preferred just have shrimp snd no pork. The Bahian Style Seafood Moqueca hot chef's special was great snd plentiful. Had to request bread rolls. Whitefish/cream cheese spread as an alternative to butter for the roles was a pleasant surprise. Drinks from the bar were heavy on alcohol and low on flavor. Shrimp cocktail is mushy. Lobster curry is cloyingly sweet and lacks the balanced heat it used to have. Sushi used to shine. Today, the rice is poorly prepared and rolls fall apart. Eight years ago, Passionfish was in the Washingtonian 100 Very Best. No joke. It was an awesome spot. How the night have fallen!! Today, I would avoid. I had a great lunch with my co-workers here. They have a few secret menu items, I'm not sure how often it changes. My guess is pretty frequently. I got an entree from the secret menu which included salmon from Iceland with a pineapple base sauce, a spaghetti squash & zucchini noodle salad, and a passion fruit popsicle all for $14, it was a great deal. Had supper at the Reston location last night. The experience was below expectations. After taking orders our starter Ceasar salad did not came with the starters of the other people at the table. I had to flag down the server to get us going. My entre Dover Sole, was way over cooked being mushy onto firm. I came to this location last Tuesday and Matt B was our server. He was very attentive and polite, thanks so much Matt. The atmosphere is very nice and I noticed how well the staff worked together pleasantly which I found so commendable ! The food was fantastic !
