Quaint place, clean and fresh ingredients. Definitely Italian chefs cooking here. Very flavorful and carefully constructed. Will be back to try other items on the menu. The server was also the chef, friendly and welcoming.

It was an excellent experience from the moment we entered this gem of a restaurant. From the wonderful music playing in the background, to the excellent and very friendly service and the absolutely spectacular food. A wonderful dining experience was enjoyed.

During our short visit to the Windy City of Chicago, we had the pleasure of eating at Pasta Al Gusto. We had reservations. We were greeted with a smile and was seated right away. Water was brought to our table. About 5-7 mins. Camilla, our waitress, took our food order. She was very attentive and refreshing our water glass. After we placed our order it probably took 15 minutes to get our food. There was soft music in the background. We were able to have a conversation without raising our voices. Here are some of the dishes we ate. not pictured are our salads and appetizers. You will not be disappointed.

We had their Caesar salad which was solid and classic in flavor. the caprese was light and delicious. we were recommended to try their melted goat cheese which I'm so glad we did. The slight sourness of the goat cheese worked well with the pomodoro sauce and we crushed it all. For the mains we split four pastas. All of these pastas were fresh and packed with flavor, I'll start with my favorite one, the Frutti di Mare had clams, shrimp, scallops and mussels, this pasta was the premier example of the frutti di mare in terms of flavor. Ravioli Puttanesca was tasty, and had some mediterranean influences with the kalamata olives and oregano. Pappalina was ultra creamy and these tortellacci were filled with beef and veal, very comforting to say the least. My second favorite pasta was the Gnocchi alla Gorgonzola. This combo took me back to Sorrento which was the last time I had a dish similar to this flavor profile. For dessert, you can't go wrong with a cannoli, but we had to investigate their tiramisu which had that delicate coffee flavor and smooth in texture.

I saw a review on TikTok and thought it looked good. I'm not the biggest Italian fan so I can't speak on the authenticity or how it compares to too many OG Italian places but every single thing prepared was immaculate. I thought it was pretty dang good. Expensive, yes. But delivered in every way. I can't believe how many people were getting these dishes to go through door dash when the plating and ambiance was as fun and laid back as it was. The food evoked so much emotion with how unique it was and tasted. I cannot recommend this place enough. Nothing was at all bland and all the flavor profiles were so well thought out. Extremely fresh bread and ingredients. I don't know how it could be more perfect. I want to try more of their menu sometime soon.

This was so amazing. Go here!! The pasta was all perfectly cooked. The spicy things were spicy, the sauce was fantastic. The vegetables were fresh. It was possibly the best fettuccine Alfredo I've ever eaten - even the perfect amount of black pepper. Cute little space, candles on the tables and a nice atmosphere. We had our kid, but I would definitely consider this a date night place. It's BYOB! Thursday night they had lots of tables open, but they were doing a brisk takeout business.

It's a small spot, good for a little date or something chill and intimate. The server is quick and on top of it even as it got busier and the FOOD was great!

Cute little family owned and operated Italian spot in Roscoe Village! Our server Kevin was very friendly and attentive, he took great care of us! Don't miss out on the garlic cheese bread as a starter. We decided to split the chicken Parmesan and a side of meatballs. Good portions. I loved our main dish but I think next time I will create my own pasta dish - I'd love to try their pesto. We will absolutely be back for more pasta and dessert! Oh and it's BYOB!

Ordered the Caprese and Rigatoni alla Grassa, loved them both. I ordered my meal via DoorDash and it was all fresh. I definitely want to dine here at some point soon. Wish the salad was a little bigger because I'm obsessed. Thanks for a great meal.

The restaurant is not busy at all. We were seated right away. Our server was nice and attentive. We ordered pizza and pasta. Pepperoni and Whipped Ricotta Pizza - cooked perfectly, fresh ingredients and delicious! Served hot! Short Rib Pappardelle - to die for! This is very tasty, the pasta is cooked al dente. Normally I hate those kinds of large group dinners, but this was the perfect spot for it. The service was absolutely wonderful. I don't know how our server stayed so cool and calm with a group that size. We got a variety of things. EVERYTHING was amazing. If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. With fabulous house made red sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. The flavor was A+ The cocktails were so good! All made from scratch with love. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. Perfect for a group or a date. They have a full bar, and also great seating with perfect lighting. This is a new favorite for me in the city.

The ambiance is nice with the restaurant not too dark but still has moody lighting. The entire time we sat down there was a huge group of people waiting for a table, so definitely make a reservation! For apps we got garlic bread and Caesar salad. The garlic bread was a rec from our server, which did not disappoint. They brought out melted butter to pour over the bread. Caesar salad was interesting, it has chopped celery inside which I didn't realize until I started eating. I don't like celery but my sis does and she liked it in the salad. Pappardelle alla porcellino and chicken vesuvio were AMAZING. Pasta was fresh and the chicken was so decadent. Both mocktails I were delish. The tiramisu was SO GOOD. I came here for a business dinner with about 6 others. The only frustrating part of our experience was we made a reservation online weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told that they basically overbooked every night and when you reserve a seat you're just saying you're coming. So we showed up and were told we were going to wait an hour. It sounds like they are super busy, but there are better ways to ensure the restaurant is selling every available seat rather than offering basically fake reservations that don't mean anything when you get there. Someone in our group complained enough about it that they sat us and did honor the reservation which we appreciated - given that it was a business dinner though, I think it was awkward we had to do that. It just was a LOT of work to organize multiple out of towners getting together and to show up and potentially wait an hour would have been so inconvenient. They really should fix this problem. The reservation issue aside the experience was great. The service is just sort of meh I didn't feel like they were above or beyond and didn't note anything exceptional there. But the food..... the food is the main event for sure. Everything I tried I loved. I had just had Italian the day before so I didn't want anything that felt "too Italian" (lasagna, pasta, pizza, etc) so I got the braised short rib over polenta which was a nice change of pace. It was amazing. Some of the best polenta I've ever had. I am already looking forward to the next time I can go back! The food here is outstanding. If you are able to go, I would highly recommend it.

The octopus surprised me because octopus can be hit or miss for me, but they did it really well! The table bread was also pretty good and cheesy. The Caesar was just fine. Nothing special but not bad (which is good coming from me since I'm not usually big on kale). Of course all of the pastas were yummy. The fusilloni was definitely my favorite from the noodle shape to the sausage and cheese. The ricotta dumplings were suuuuuper cheesy which I really liked (though I could see why others wouldn't) and had a melt in your mouth softness. The rigatoni was tasty, but kinda just tasted like a normal red sauce so would probably try something more interesting next time. We really enjoyed the chicken parm, too. Not as good as the pastas, but definitely tasty and the basil was a good touch. We finished with the guava cheesecake sundae. The fritto misto was ok, the breading tasted like it was old or had been sitting out. Not as crispy as we'd hope. To be honest felt like frozen calamari quality. The Alla Vita chopped was pretty standard, kinda reminded me of Olive Garden salad lol. The stars of the meal were the tagliatelle and cappelletti pasta. Both were super flavorful and pasta cooked well. The bone-in ribeye was a little on the sweeter side, definitely lacked a crust and salt. I'd pass on the steak IMO. Our biggest qualm was the timing of the dishes coming out. The pasta came out 30-35 minutes after the appetizer and salad which is fine, but the steak coming out 15 minutes after the pasta kinda ruined it. We'd love to eat the entrees (steak and pasta) together, and not finish our pasta first or let it go cold then eat steak alone.. ya know? We had ordered crispy potatoes but cancelled due to the wait. Ended the night with mango passion fruit sorbet with a prosecco float. Big mistake on the prosecco float haha it was so tarte and bitter, would def recommend trying the sorbet alone! Overall, glad we finally got to try this place. Focus more on the pastas and skip the steak. Very beautiful inside.
