Overall the expierence was relaxing. The atmosphere was calm for a nice lunch after the beach when you are not looking for seafood. It was not very busy around 2pm, however I felt like there was a lack of team work from the staff. Vanessa our waitress was kind and hardworking, however, I noticed she was making all her drinks at the bar and had to bus all her own tables taking away from her table service. Various staff members and managers walked pass unbussed tables and did not offer to assist her or step in to make drinks or expo which I found kind of odd. read more

Short notice meet up with friend that flew into town. Street parking in close proximity if you don't want to use a parking lot. Was able to get a seat at the bar as the house was packed. Service was so so, not too attentive and a little pushy to get our party out while finishing drinks even though there was plenty of other seating available by that time. Bruschetta was fresh and light, great starter to the food. The carbonara was a little underwhelming for my taste, but a decent option. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant. For parking, if you can get street parking, that would be ideal; however there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant, which charges $30 for the first two hours. I got here around 4 pm and the parking situation wasn't honestly an issue. The music isn't over powering and the overall layout makes it seem very homey. depending on where you sit you have a nice view of the kitchen where the chefs are diligently preparing the food. The starter bread is nice and dense with good flavor, it reminds me of a sour dough. The olive oil that comes standard at the table is robust and has a very nice flavor to it. I ordered the pasta bolognese, the taste and acidity of the sauce is pretty standard, a little on the acidic side but i tend to enjoy it like that. The house made pasta (or whichever kind of pasta is used) is well picked. The pasta picks up the sauce well and the mouthfeel is hard to beat; I want to attribute that to the house made aspect of it. I also got one of their seasonal cocktails called the paper plane which was refreshing. It was a little tart, definitely tastes of grape fruit with the lemon garnish also contributing to the taste. However I'm not sure how well it paired with pasta alla bolognese. To finish I got the crème brûlée. For me it's always a toss up between that and key lime pie every time so when a place offers both I usually have to flip a coin. For those who have had crème brûlée, it's overall a pretty simple dessert. The portion size was a huge plus for me. The sugar top had just a hint of burnt taste (obviously!) but you could really tell; and that is something I honestly don't mind. As for the crème it was nice, light, smooth with a hint of lemon I think. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I'm typically a solo diner but at least from what I saw they are capable of accommodating parties of about 10 so long as you call ahead first to let them know. I have to assume given the time of year it's "less packed" than normal because outdoor dining is pretty much not an option in march. This is my first time in the state of Rhode Island and subsequently the first time in Newport. I found them out through the Resy app, and decided to give it a shot. In all honestly because of the vibes, the food and the area, if you are ever in the area I would definitely try this spot out for some pretty good Italian. Ingredients super fresh, execution good but not outstanding. Started off with complimentary bread and olive oil. Ordered fried calamari and shrimp for all, calamari was perfect chewiness with fresh out of the fryer with fresh oil type of crisp, great flavor. My pesto gnocchi had amazingly fresh basil flavor, very fragrant, solid definitely house made pesto, but a little undersalted so perf with the Parmesan you can optionally add. Ordered grilled chicken on the side for protein, lowkey expensive as fuck and a little too charred for me. Clam spaghetti was actually fire tho, clams seemed fresh and flavor/sauce was on point. Easily one of the best Italian restaurants in Newport, Ri, this place has never let me down once. My friends and I came here for lunch and already knew that we were going to get an incredible meal. Ambience is traditional and distinctively Italian. Waitstaff is friendly and dutiful. Saying it again for emphasis, food is amazing, since it's made by legit Italian chefs that come here on visa. I started with the ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi itself was paired with a pesto sauce. IMO it had a strong parsley flavor which was a little overpowering, but the ricotta and sun dried tomatoes balanced out the flavor and removed the bitterness. Expertly done and absolutely delectable. Tasted even better with the parmigiano reggiano they always provide with your meal. The menu rotates every season, but thankfully some dishes are permanent, like the tagliatelle funghi. Simple deliciousness. Fresh pasta, a generous amount of flavorful mushrooms and a savory garlic cream sauce. I get this dish every single time I come here. Tastes fantastic on its own or with cheese on top. If you're in this town and you love Italian food, you owe it to yourself to try this place. There's also Sardella's, which provides strong competition, but I personally like this place a bit more. Highly recommended. read more

Stopped in for a quick solo lunch and Pasta Beach did not disappoint. The bar area is very cozy and got lively during lunch service on a Thursday. The appetizer list looked excellent, and there is a pasta choice for almost any palette. They also have pizzas that looked yummy. I got the penne alla vodka and it was delicious and had just a slight kick which i welcomed. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge as the lot next to the restaurant is small, but I was lucky enough to snag a street spot. Overall definitely worth the visit. read more

First time trying something for the first time in Newport in a long time. Glad it was Pasta Beach. We had a small group of colleagues/old friends and wanted to have dinner. We easily made a reservation a few days ahead of time for a table of 6. The table was ready early, and that was good. We were early. Seated immediately and excellent service throughout the night. We talked a lot and were slow to order. The server was patient and checked in regularly but didn't rush us. When we ordered the food was delivered almost instantly. I tried the tagliatelle bolognese and really liked it. I also had pepperoni pizza and loved it. It was an almost perfect Neapolitan pizza diavola with just a little American flair in the pepperoni. Crust was crispy chewy as it should be and the sauce was perfect. A++ pizza! The prices are extremely fair for downtown, and the food is top 10% or better. Good enough that I'd say if you visit Newport and eat out you better try Pasta Beach - it's in the top 1-2 must try places for me! read more

We used to frequent Pasta Beach because their handmade pasta was always so good, but over the years I feel like the quality has slipped a bit. Our favorite dish is the tagliatelle with asparagus and prosciutto, which is always a 10/10, but whenever we order a second dish to try something new, it usually disappoints. For the price point, I think the quality should be more consistent. On the positive side, our server was kind, attentive, and prompt. We never had to ask for refills, which we appreciated. The main downside for me is the noise level inside; it's just too loud and could really benefit from some sound dampening. read more

We've been here a few times and while the food is a bit overpriced for pasta dishes and side salad, it does taste really good! I have always had great service and everyone is always so nice. It's a bit on the loud side so it's a pretty good place to bring the kids. read more

Pasta Beach is definitely my favorite place in Newport! The vibe, the service, and the food are all incredible. I absolutely love the tagliatelle bolognese; the meat sauce is amazing. It's a good idea to make a reservation since it gets really busy, and the restaurant is on the smaller side. Tip: if you book later on in the evening , there are usually fewer people. Came in for a late lunch, and while everything was good it seemed quite overpriced for what was given plus an extra charge for the kitchen.

Pasta Beach was an exceptional restaurant. It has a perfect location for exposure to visitors, it has a large indoor seating area, I love the welcoming atmosphere and.... during the warmer months...they have a beautifully aestetic outdoor seating area. Let me start by saying how much we enjoyed our server, Nicole. From start to finish, she was attentive, helpful, resourceful with local attraction recommendations, and always displayed a genuine smile. My drink was the Sugar and Spice (Shipwreck Spiced Rum, Liquor 43, Mint, and Lime). This drink was amazing, deliciously sweet, loved the sugar rim, and highly recommended. The appetizer was Polpette (Beef and pork meatballs, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese). The meatballs were pleasantly tender and the sweet sauce enveloped every bite with deliciousness. Each entree was award winning, presented at the optimal temperature, and perfectly seasoned: Margherita Pizza and the Tagliatelle (substituted with rigatoni) Funghi. This dish included champignon mushrooms, garlic, cream, and parsley. The dessert was mouth watering...Coppa Straciatella (Chocolate chip gelato swirled together with chocolate syrup, topped with cocoa powder and hazelnuts). I enjoyed this dessert and every spoonful was an adventure. Going from the powdery top layer, working to the creamy gelato center, and finishing with the syrupy chocolate bottom, was exquisite and hope that everyone gets to experience this exceptional final course. Once again, I have entered a restroom that deserves kudos. The nautical decor was innovative and the cleanliness speaks volumes for the beauty of the entire restaurant. Pasta Beach is a fabulous restaurant. The ambience through the different seasons is spot on. I enjoy grabbing a drink here with friends & having a bite. However, I think Pasta Beach needs to work on its service. They need to elevate the little things to make it more enjoyable . The beverages are something I struggle with at Pasta Beach. The establishment needs to address the issue with their beverages, as the soda is consistently flat and served without ice, which makes the drink experience quite disappointing. While the restaurant's ambiance is lovely, the glassware feels out of place. Bulky and inelegant. Especially with flat drinks and mocktails. I'm constantly having to specifically Oder a different glass. A touch more attentiveness to the little things would elevate Pasta Beach from great to truly outstanding. read more

Dropped by for a birthday dinner with some friends, table of 6. Restaurant was pretty packed (Saturday at 6:30 ish) we had a reservation so were promptly seated. Parking is street and nearby lot parking which fills up pretty quickly. Food wise the lasagna was said to be solid so a few ordered that along with a cacio e Pepe and one of the carbonara dishes. We ordered the calamari and the fried provolone with hot honey (we ended up ordering a second round.) Drinks I can only speak to mine I went for the Club Italian which was refreshing, and well balanced. Would recommend! The dishes we tried were all equally flavorful, and ample serving sizes. The pasta was perfectly elegant dente. I would say at first glance the cacio e Pepe seemed like they put store bought shredded cheese but overall taste was great and perfectly cooked. I had a bite of the lasagna which was good and definitely shareable unless you're really hungry :) Staff was nice, space had a nice upscale beach vibe. Pizzas seemed pretty good too large brick oven up front when you enter the restaurant. Would recommend stopping by for a drink, or food. Cute bar area as well. read more

We went here with some apprehension as their yelp rating is so so. Guys, I do not understand why this place isn't at least in the high 4's?! We were so delighted by the ambiance the second we walked in. Beautiful decor and very inviting bar and dining area. We had a larger group so we made reservations and our table was ready as promised. Our server was fantastic. She was extremely kind and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She readily answered any questions and was more than happy to accommodate any requests. The wine list is excellent and we were very happy with our Orin Swift selection. Those who ordered cocktails really enjoyed what they ordered. The burrata appetizer blew us all away. Everyone LOVED their meals. My husband's lobster dish was phenomenal. We ended our experience with a Nutella pizza. Definitely a must try! The Pasta Beach was an excellent choice for our lunch. The interior was beautiful and there was also a very nice secluded courtyard. We chose the courtyard. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I was impressed by this as our order was small. We split a margarita pizza and it was very tasty. We went for a birthday celebration and when making reservations, the hostess asked if it was a special occasion. I told her yes it was my daughter's birthday. We had a very unfriendly waitress who seemed annoyed we were there and when coming over to the table to ask us a question she literally wasn't listening. Two of my favorite words. Pasta Beach, you were wonderful! The menu has alllll of the pasta options you could ever want. Pasta with seafood, meat lasagna, carbonara, ravioli. And on and on. And if you aren't feeling the pasta route they've got pizzas, calzones and some entrees that all sounded really yummy. We started off with a crunchy cesar salad that was topped with a mound of hot and crispy bacon. This was a very unboring cesar and I'm happy we ordered it. The complimentary bread was also hot and fresh. On to the pasta. I went with the octopus bucatini which was topped in a chunky tomato sauce with olives and capers. The pasta was perfectly al dente and there was an impressive showing of octopus. I was wowed. My sister's carbonara was also a showstopper. I've never seen this dish with rigatoni - interesting move and it was a delicious combo. Order up your favorite drink (aperol spritz for me) and you have yourself a five star meal. read more

Pricey, small portions, pretentious vibe, mediocre quality. Skip it! We started with the calamari... not impressed. These were mostly extra large extremely "chewy" rings. I order calamari a lot and I prefer light breading and crispy flavor. The basket had a couple pieces of fried shrimp... those were actually tasty. The calamari was NOT good. I ordered a pizza with prosciutto... I was expecting small pieces of prosciutto cut up and baked into the pizza. What I got were full slices just draped on top... put on AFTER the pizza was cut. So when I tried to pick up slices It was hard to eat, and difficult to cut. The crust was good but the bottom of the pizza was kinda soggy. My daughter ordered the carbonara. These portion was small, but that's expected at a place like this. What was unexpected for a place specializing in pasta is to have an at best "mid" carbonara. The cheese was just NOT good. Carbonara is easy to make and hard to screw up... I don't know what kind of cheese they used but it didn't taste right. I expected it to be pricey, we're in Newport and it's a ritzy tourist area. I don't mind paying, but I expect it to be exceptional. It wasn't. Go elsewhere. (Oh they tack on a 2% "kitchen gratuity" that they didn't mention... just FYI.) read more
