After all the great reviews of this place, we were really looking forward to eating here but we were sorely disappointed. The waiter was not super friendly but Ill give him a pass bc he looked like he was the only server for the whole restaurant so he was stressed and busy with tables in both rooms. The noise level was very loud in the main dining room and was hard to talk. But the worst part of this entire experience was the food. We ordered a lobster roll to split and the lobster came out literally gray and was so tough and chewy and fishy that it was incredibly hard to eat. I wanted to send it back but my friend asked me not too but it was absolutely inedible. It was if they had microwaved the lobster in some butter. It also had a very minimal amount of lobster in it. Cant speak to other food as that was all we ordered but overall will not be recommending.

The ambiance is very nice situated in an old bank, decorated to feel warm and inviting. Big bar, lots of seats and high top tables. We only had drinks, didn't try the food, but I do love the idea of a "build your own" cheese and charcuterie board. See photo for selection of items to choose from. We didn't have enough time to order food so we didn't try it. The drinks were ok. I'm a bit of an old fashion cocktail kick, and this was not the best one I've ever had, nor the worst, but for the price, I expected better...like maybe a single large ice cube, a fresh orange peel, and to their credit it did include a Luxor cherry.

I'm usually in Newport a couple of times a year and I try to come here. The atmosphere is usually pretty chill on the bar side, so it's nice to come for drinks and a bite to eat. The last time I was here was yesterday. Some friends and I sat at the bar for a late afternoon nibble and a drink. They went with The Remedy, which was a mocktail on the menu. Both friends liked it. I went with a Sazerac Rye Manhattan. It was well made and came with a luxardo cherry. To eat, my friends shared some oysters, the watermelon salad, a caesar salad, and the garlic parm frites. We were making fun of the frites, because there were also fries on the menu. We said that adding the garlic parm took them from fries to frites - lol. My friends remarked on how tasty everything was, so I'm glad I brought them here. I decided to have a few items off of the charcuterie menu - cheddar, goat cheese, prosciutto, and salami. The goat cheese and salami were the recommendation of the bartender and he was spot on. Everything went well together and was super fresh and delicious. The board came with jam, spicy mustard, crostini, and something pickled. I'll be back in Newport this October for a conference and I'll try to make it back here for some more food and drinks.

Excellent service from Sailor! She's fantastic! Delicious meats and cheeses. We ordered a special Valentine's board which had delicious burrata and prosciutto. The Caesar salad was phenomenal. The shoestring fries with Parmesan and garlic were a tasty treat. The fries were crispy and the seasoning was fabulous. I loved my mocktail, Pink Pearl. It had a fun foam. The Belcourt was a really nice rum cocktail. Very spacious restaurant. Two levels and an outdoor patio too. Lovely, modern decor. Pristine. I love the lighting and ambiance. I would love to dine here again.

Went on a Friday evening for drinks and apps with a friend. Staff was super friendly and we got a table immediately. This place has a bunch of seating, multiple floors, 2 bars and a (new?) outside patio. We ordered purple rain and a mezcal drink and both were really good. Got a few apps - watermelon salad, burrata and panzanella salad. Everything was really good and good portions. We ended with tequila espresso martinis! Great spot to check out if you're in Newport!

Food service and ambience on a Friday night . Fresh creative food and apps, nice bar area. Good service, fun vibe. No parking, best to walk.

Bar and Board didn't start out well but overall ended fine. When we arrived Therese seems to be confusion at the hostess station. We had a reservations were seated when we arrived . We were seated in a quasi outer area that was a little warm at first but got better. Being seated next to the hostess station also made it a little hectic for our table. It also took a long time for someone to acknowledge us and take drink orders. Once all the chaos worked out the rest of the evening went well. We had oysters which were some of the best I've had and the table enjoyed the calamari and other appetizers. For dinner I had the haddock which was perfectly cooked but lacked some seasoning but tasty nonetheless. It came with a salad that had cold potatoes not something I'm used to but possibly a RI thing. Some of the table had warm lobster rolls that most really liked and I thought was great after tasting my wife's. I would add we like to have drinks and we'd had more if the service was a little better.

I had high hopes for Bar & Board Bistro but wasn't very impressed. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with sophisticated table lamps and a welcoming bar, however the food and speed of service was somewhat disappointing. My family came for dinner on a Friday night and ordered a round of cocktails and main courses. The food ended up arriving before the drinks. Maybe I'm being hypercritical but after checking out their instagram and the surrounding tables, I was a little disappointed that the cocktails all came out in highball glasses when their pictures feature interesting glassware. I ordered the local grilled fish, a sea bass, and it came with some nice greens and potatoes but was pretty bland. I ended up asking for some lemon wedges to improve the flavor. Overall, I would not return for food but might consider coming back for a drink at the bar.

Great location, plenty of seating, clean. Service was good. We were looking for some light bites and the menu looked like it would suit our needs. The drinks were delicious and flavorful. Would definitely come back for a drink at the bar or happy hour. The food was good but not as good as I was hoping. It was somewhat underwhelming. Nothing stood out to me or made me think "I really want to come back here again for ________".

Outdoor seating with dim lighting set a beautiful mood. Small plates of Shrimp & Avocado with sushi rice, soy, mirin, sriracha, cucumber, ginger poached shrimp, pickled fresno Tempura Cauliflower Corn & jalapeño cakes... Mildly spicy yet a sweet taste given the agave jalapeño aioli, delicious dish which was well prepared Nf fillling in its own right Daiquiri...passion fruit foam, rum, acid water & sugar.. Do I need to say more?! After this drink I gave up sugar so I didn't develop Diabetes. But have to admit the drink was good at the time.

This Thames Street Gem in Newport blew us away! Everything is a vibe - from the patio to the restored bank vault and upstairs bar with big windows and additional space - this place is seriously electric! They are also serving up some seriously good food - proudly locally sourced which we love. I had my first lobster roll of the season (hot, of course) and my husband could not get enough of the French fries. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Our cocktails were stellar and we can't wait to go back! Street parking only, meters in the tourist season.

SPECTACULAR! 4th year in a row here during the conference we go to for our continued medical…read moreeducation credits. I think this place should have 5 star rating! Every time we come here the service is excellent and the food is amazing. This is what we come for right? Outstanding food and service! This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. The presentation is gorgeous too! Plating is also important and they nail it! Okay let's gooooo! Come join our dining experience! We tried a bit of everything! We loved every bit of it. I'll mention my faves but that doesn't take away how hard it was to choose a fave! Everything was DELICIOUS ! Raw bar: Jamestown oysters . We had 10. We can't get enough east coast oysters. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. It doesn't feel like you are eating carrots and regardless it's a very dressed up bougie delicious carrot plate ! Mmmm . One of my faves out of the snacks. 2. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. Food is beyond excellent and is a place you have to stop by and visit while in Newport.

We sat in the Conservatory and I loved being surrounded by lush foliage and clean black and white stripe decor. On to the food--- This is not a drill. Do not skip the raw oysters. The mignonette - excellent! They were the best of the weekend (and we have had quite a bit) Our server Tiffany was attentive and made excellent suggestions. We ordered crab toast as well and it was very very good. Then followed with a Caesar salad and clam chowder to share. I couldn't decide between little neck clams and the rabbit tagliatelle and she brought the clams as a surprise. They were HANDS DOWN the best I've ever had. She really made my night. The pasta was also incredible. My selections were favorites of the table. A dinner companion ordered a steak but it was a little over cooked but the manager Rory went above and beyond taking care of us. I'm not sure what they do to make the most perfect French fries but hands down I've never had one like this. Figure out a way to order them. The Can't Elope cocktail was the best I had in Newport. It was balanced, refreshing and all around perfection. We also loved the Paper Tiger! Finished with a sticky toffee pudding that was a star of the meal. I wish I wasn't so full or I would have finished it I cannot recommend this restaurant enough 5 stars.

Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy. I've only got great things to say about Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar & I WILL be back here/will suggest it to my friends visiting Newport one day!
