Birthday party of 12-16 people (approx. 1/2 were children under 12) were SO NOISY that my wife and I could not hear each other speak. (Glad THEY were having fun...) Coming from an Italian family, I was raised on authentic Italian food so had low expectations coming in. Ended up eating here for prom with a large group of people (14 people) I was wow'd, the service is incredible, the bread is fantastic and the Italian food is authentic. Not a single gripe. On a recent visit to my daughter who lives in Iowa I had the unfortunate experience of eating at Pasta Bella. The first thing to note was that the hostess is rude, arrogant and unfortunately seemingly bigoted against people with disabilities. Her patronizing and condescending attitude is off-putting and unfortunately reflects poorly on the rest of the staff. The food wasn't terrible but it also wasn't great. Definitely not worth it given the attitude of the hostess. If I'm paying money to eat out I don't expect to be greeted by a passive aggressive hostess with a chip on her shoulder. I wouldn't recommend this place to out of town visitors because the rudeness may be a shock considering you'd expect people from Iowa to be more pleasant. read more

Pasta Bella is great! It has pretty much no competition in town so it's pretty busy considering. The portions are much larger than they look and very, very filling! I got the pasta sampler as recommended and it did not disappoint, the servings were bigger than expected and for only $8! The lasagna and manicotti were good, very, very cheesy. It's sloppy reheated "Italian" food with a nasty after taste. Between the high Yelp rating, classy pictures, and menu without prices, I was expecting the lobster ravioli to be at least $20. Pleasantly surprised to find it priced at $13.95. It was so delicious, I would gladly have paid $30. The bread is as good as everyone says. Service was attentive and friendly, but not pushy. Totally family friendly, including a changing table in the ladies room and the perfect volume to just cover your whining toddlers voice while still being able to hold a conversation. We vary our travel route and this was a "just passing through " Yelp find, but we will definitely be back! Husband's sausage arrabiatta was equally good and kids were pleased with the pizza. This place was underwhelming. Because of the good reviews I expected more. The bread before the meal was the best part. Not traditional Italian, but good. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and it was wet. The dressing were clearly store bought. I had the special. The sauce and noodles were good but the shrimp was over cooked. One of my dinner companions had chicken Parmigiana and the chicken was undercooked. He noodles and sauce were good though. My other dinner companion had the steak over pasta. The steak was good and flavorful, but the pasta had hardly any sauce or taste. I don't think I will go back if I am in the Mason City are again. read more

What a place! We were on vacation coming back from Minnesota to KC and needed a place to eat. Searched Yelp and even though it only had 2 reviews, Italian sounded good. Very authentic. From the Italian waiter to the Italian speaking coming from the kitchen. The pasta and bread was homemade. Get the garlic dipping sauce. Normally we are too full for dessert but the way the dinner tasted we had to try. We could not decided so the 4 of us each picked. Wow! We had the cheese cake, cannelloni, keylime pie and lemon cake. Each were amazing. All made from scratch. When the bill arrived I expected it to be a lot higher, especially since we had dessert. Not the case. I didn't expect to to find such amazing good food in a little town of the highway. It's about 15 min of the interstate but well worth the trip. If I am ever in this area again I will definitely plan to stop. read more

The waitstaff was pleasant, knowledgeable, and engaging! The have a large menu with all you Italian favorites! You get complimentary homemade garlic bread with your order. I recommend the olive oil dipping sauce with your bread. I order the Sea Food Combo and it was excellent! The sea food & pasta was cooked perfectly. The girlfriend had the chicken parmigiano and she loved it too. The portions are big so come hungry. This is now one of my favorite places to eat in Mason City! read more

The food here is always amazing! My husband and I both love it! He always gets the Buffalo chicken pizza and I love the chicken florentine and the spaghetti with meat sauce. We also usually get a side of Alfredo sauce for dipping the free rolls in and it is definitely worth the extra cost to get that. The staff is always extremely friendly and if you are on the go you can always call and place an order for pick up and it is almost always ready within 15 minutes. Randomly picked out this restaurant to have lunch with a daughter from St. Paul. We were very happy with our service, the menu, the wine and the food. Portions are large for lunch, (we shared a chicken marsala). Since she is married to an Italian she is very familiar with Italian cuisine and she stated she would return.
