What a pleasant surprise to find a fine dining restaurant in the middle of downtown Wurtsboro. Service was quick and attentive and food and drinks were tasty. Prices are higher end but the ambiance is very nice and cozy and romantic. Limited parking in their lot but there's plenty of free street parking. I'd probably come back for another special event.

My sister found this place and invited me to dine here. We made reservation for an early Friday dinner. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us and sat us down immediately. The place has an old Italy feel. The place is of wood with old painting and decor. Upon seating, our waiter introduced himself and asked for our drink and let us know the specials. We weren't too hungry so just decided to get entrees, osso bucco with risotto & linguini with clams. The waiter brought bread and this amazing Pomodoro dip. It was delicious! It took a moment but the food came piping hot. The meat fell off the bone and the risotto was rich. Highly recommended. The linguini was good but felt like it needed salt, more garlic, and umami. But the service was wonderful and overall the food was delicious esp. for this region. Definitely coming back!

Side salad warm lettuce and boring

This was my first time visiting. The service was slow and a little unorganized. Had to ask for water refills, dessert menu and check few times. As far as the food there could be some improvements. The side salad was disappointing. Just lettuce and carrots...very bland and boring. The lettuce was wilted and warm. Ordered the veal marsala. Veal was chewy and had grissle. It also was in pieces not a nice cutlet. Very underwhelming. My date had the veal franchise and that was very good. Not a very good first impression. Maybe just an off night. Room for improvement especially relating to the service.

Let me start by saying I'm Italian from Long Island. We were hesitant but the reviews were good so we went. We will definitely be back. The service was great and the food was AMAZING! The ambiance was really nice too and the music playing was really nice. We started with mozzarella caprese and the pistachio beat salad. Both were delicious. Our entrees were cavatelli bolognese and pasta tuscano. Both were absolutely amazing. The tuscano is spicy so if you don't like a kick don't order it. It's a definite restaurant that you should try.

Visited Wurtsboro for our 3rd anniversary. Lunch choices were here or the local diner (we plan to try on next visit). Definitely not disappointed we went here. Wait staff was attentive and polite without being overbearing. The food was delicious and well prepared, even for lunch, little details were not missed. Everything was at an edible temp, not extremely hot. Portions were enough we each took some home. Would definitely dine here again

    Carbonara being made

This was literally the best dinning experience I've had. The service was wonderful, everyone was super friendly. We got some bar drinks which were very delicious. A lot of the cocktails are martinis which I wasn't in the mood for so I asked if I could get mine on the rocks who can was easily accommodated and delicious! I had the spiced peartini on the rocks. My husband got the fig martini and also loved it. We got the cheese curds to start and they were wonderful with the buffalo sauce. The Caesar salad was a good portion and also delicious, my husband got the lobster bisque and said it was amazing, I wish I didn't have a shellfish allergy! After that we got a second appetizer. The burrata was served over a delicious pesto which complimented it perfectly. By the time dinner came around I could barely look at it! I got the carbonara which is stirred into a heated up block of cheese right in front of you. Although I was way too full to even try it, I brought it home and snuck a bite before putting it in the fridge and it was to die for. Everyone at the table loved their dishes and everything was well portioned and great looking. It was my husbands birthday and he ordered the cheese cake. Unfortunately they were out but it felt like a sign since everyone was stuffed. We received some glasses of anisette on the house which was very good and would have been wonderful with coffee. Shortly after we were surprised with a Similar dessert to the one my husband wanted with a sparkler and a song. It was stunning. Everything was very well priced and I can't wait to go back there.

The Salmon was delicious with roasted potato's & broccoli. Started with a French Martini, chardonnay with dinner. Service is always great and there was music tonight very nice

This review is taking precedence over my last one. So technically this place is getting 10 STARS There isn't a restaurant for miles that can top this place. Last night, my husband & I shared apps of clams casino, stuffed with caramelized onions, the butter sauce you just want to drink, omg and a new special of duck spring rolls, which was plated with a dark cherry demiglaze, you guys have no idea how delicious this was, wow. I brought one of those home. My entree was also a special last night, veal short ribs over mash&the most delicious crunchy topped onions. Fall of the bone, thick sauce. A gentleman from the kitchen came out to ask if I was enjoying it since it was a new special, I gave my praise to the kitchen. Pistachio cake&cappuccino finished off our night. That's the other thing about this place. It's obvious to me that they TEACH&WORK with their staff, everyone working there will smile at you, ask you how you are, anyone of that waitstaff will not just pass your table without asking if all is good or if you need anything. You will also see the same faces every time you go, so it must be a decent place to work. The decor here is dark red, dim lighting, can be a very romantic spot. Not too busy yesterday which was the first time we didn't have to wait, not that we wouldnt!

Let me start by saying DO NOT JUDGE THE BOOK BY THE COVER!…read more We were looking for somewhere new to go eat and I searched on Yelp. Found Giovanni's Inn and was hesitant bc of the mixed reviews! Well let me say thank God I didn't listen to the people who gave a horrible review! From the minute the waitress Kristen came to our table we felt like home! Unfortunately, we didn't know that Wednesdays and Thursdays is pizza and apps only and Friday-Sunday is regular food menu no pizza! Fortunately, we got lucky and came on a Thursday! The pizza was absolutely delicious. We ordered a margarita and a plain cheese half sausage. We saw the muscles on the menu but were hesitant until Kristen said they were delicious. She told us all about Giovanni. He's 89 and grows all his herbs, tomatoes. Makes his own wine and bakes his own bread and also butchers his own meat. We ordered the muscles! Well let me tell you make sure you order them! I'm Italian and they were the best muscles I've ever had. It was a big portion and to top it off comes with Giovanni's bread! We are excited to go back Friday-Sunday and have food! When we finished eating Giovanni came in from outside (that's where the pizza oven is) and introduced himself and we talked for about 20 minutes about how it all became! This man is unreal! We learned all about him from when he came over from Italy to date! Very impressive! I hope this review gets you to go try it! I promise it's worth the trip! Simply amazing!

Its pleasant staff serves old world italian cuisine in a casual setting that is unique and reflects the owner/chef Giovanni's interests over his life including hunting, raising prize winning dogs and growing grapes. He used to have a pianist playing old popular classics at least on Saturday nights, which we enjoyed, but lately that music is piped in, possibly because the economy is not what it used to be in the area since all the hotels closed and many of those occupying the old bungalow colonies are now primarily the Hasidim who eat out only in establishments that adhere to the laws of kashrut, and because gone with the hotels are all their downstate guests, their employees and the entertainers, musicians, photographers, and florists who made a living supplying services required by the hotels. But I'm glad to say that Giovanni is one of the few restaurants that has survived all of those changes as well as the Covid epidemic and is still serving wonderful food. I love his spaghetti with white clam sauce, especially the little neck clams still in their shells because all the ingredients are simple and fresh and there's nothing in it that's out of a can, such as chopped clams. His mixed seafood: clams, mussels. shrimp and calamari over pasta in a light red sauce is also excellent. My husband adores his veal parmigiana with its delicious tomato sauce. Dinners come with nice freshly baked bread and a salad, usually with iceberg lettuce, not my favorite green. but occasionally he serves it with fresh mixed lettuce grown in his garden I wish he'd serve mixed greens all the time, and I wouldn't mind paying more for it with a generous serving of tomatoes.

Upon entry, it was as though you walked in to a quaint Italian restaurant on a summer evening. We were immediately greeted and seated for a table of three. The place was quiet and feels private at your table. We were greeted with requests to see if we would like to place an order for drinks. There were a good selection of wines though we do not drink. Water, bread & an adorable mini charcuterie was placed on our table as we look over the menu. There were many options but haven't had good pasta in awhile I decided to order the seafood pasta while my siblings ordered linguini with clams & beef carpaccio (third person was not very hungry). While we sit and enjoy the free table tasting, we enjoyed the ambiance and conversation. Food was freshly prepared and quickly came to the table. All meals were asked if we would like fresh black pepper and grated cheese. Oh my! The pasta were perfect all dente with the sauce full of flavor and creamy that you just want the second bite, the third until you finish the full plate. I so wanted to try other dishes since I was utterly delighted. The table all had the sentiments. We all agree we must come back. The owner stopped by the table to greet us and gave us a little of his story as I was curious how he came to Catskills and open this wonderful place! All to summarize, the service was wonderful! Food delicious, great place to have for celebration and intimate for a date. I highly recommend this place! Definitely coming back!

Someone came by to take our drink order and three of us got a drink. They then took the menus out of our way as we were ready to order, and they said someone would be by shortly. We finished our drinks without ordering and tried to flag down a few people. It was a very full restaurant so we were trying to be understanding. We did put in our order and it was another hour before we got our entrees but no one came back around for another drink order or else we all would have gotten something. The food was absolutely delicious, phenomenal. I would like to go back again to try out the service and see if it was just a fluke or if they are usually that relaxed. It took over 2 hours for us to have one entree and one drink which was a little too much for us. We loved each other's company, and the food was terrific, but it was such a long wait. Also there's only one bathroom for the restaurant. Just one single stall restroom so it was a little tricky waiting for the right timing.

The chicken parmesan was excellent, but the lasagna was Out of this World amazing, the best I've ever had. Pasta was so silky tasting, light & airy. Perfect. The portion size was also ginormous, but I managed to finish it all ! Loved it. Marinara sauce was also spot on. The bread that came to the table before our meals was superb, and my wife had a sangria with her meal which she enjoyed very much. Came back a few nights later, but this time we had to do a takeout order (our dog had been injured at the farm the day before and we did not want to leave her at the airbnb by herself). So I picked up two entrees -- a shrimp fettuccine alfredo and a salmon dinner. The salmon was first-rate, but the shrimp fettuccine alfredo was clearly the winner tonight, it was fantastic. We appreciate that they did not go overboard with the alfredo sauce (like so many restaurants do), the chef clearly knows how to prepare Italian dishes. We also had a slice of cheesecake and a tiramisu for dessert -- both were stellar, we loved them ! Lombardi's Restaurant in Gardiner, NY is Top Notch in my book. The staff are very friendly & attentive, especially David, he was extremely personable and funny.
