To celebrate my sis birthday, we going this restaurant near where we grew up. We did not know this place existed all this time. Plenty of parking. Upon entry, it was as though you walked in to a quaint Italian restaurant on a summer evening. We were immediately greeted and seated for a table of three. The place was quiet and feels private at your table. We were greeted with requests to see if we would like to place an order for drinks. There were a good selection of wines though we do not drink. Water, bread & an adorable mini charcuterie was placed on our table as we look over the menu. There were many options but haven't had good pasta in awhile I decided to order the seafood pasta while my siblings ordered linguini with clams & beef carpaccio (third person was not very hungry). While we sit and enjoy the free table tasting, we enjoyed the ambiance and conversation. Food was freshly prepared and quickly came to the table. All meals were asked if we would like fresh black pepper and grated cheese. Oh my! The pasta were perfect all dente with the sauce full of flavor and creamy that you just want the second bite, the third until you finish the full plate. I so wanted to try other dishes since I was utterly delighted. The table all had the sentiments. We all agree we must come back. The owner stopped by the table to greet us and gave us a little of his story as I was curious how he came to Catskills and open this wonderful place! All to summarize, the service was wonderful! Food was absolutely outstanding, but we definitely were forgotten about as a table. The four of us sat down and after perusing the menu decided on what we wanted so closed our menus. Someone came by to take our drink order and three of us got a drink. They then took the menus out of our way as we were ready to order, and they said someone would be by shortly. We finished our drinks without ordering and tried to flag down a few people. It was a very full restaurant so we were trying to be understanding. We did put in our order and it was another hour before we got our entrees but no one came back around for another drink order or else we all would have gotten something. The food was absolutely delicious, phenomenal. I would like to go back again to try out the service and see if it was just a fluke or if they are usually that relaxed. It took over 2 hours for us to have one entree and one drink which was a little too much for us. We loved each other's company, and the food was terrific, but it was such a long wait. Also there's only one bathroom for the restaurant. Just one single stall restroom so it was a little tricky waiting for the right timing. read more

We spent a night in the area and checked Yelp, which led us to Solaia. Called ahead for an early reservation. We were greeted and sat promptly when we arrived. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the flat bread set on the table. We started with calamari for an appetizer which was very good. I had the Risotto for my entree and my husband had chicken milanese. I confirmed with the server that it was indeed Risotto and not overcooked white rice before I ordered as some places have pulled that one. He assured me. He was right. Everything was very good. I am in Monticello NY for that Kartrite Water Park spot on Thanksgiving day and I had a party of 11 without any reservations for dinner. This restaurant saved my rear end by letting me know, at 530 pm when I called, that it would accommodate my party by 6 pm. What. A. Gem! I had to shake the owner's hand in gratitude, and, of course, leave a fatter tip. Food was excellent! Every plate seemed to have been thoughtfully put together, with flavor profiles, texture, and temperature just right. Interior ambiance can be quite dark, and those with weaker eyes are encouraged to use a cell phone flashlight to read the menu. The space for our party of 11 felt comfortable and exclusive! We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner and are grateful to the owner along with the team for taking such great care of us. I hope to be back soon. read more

Before ordering they present some Parmigiana with soppressata and this fried type of huge chips with some Italian bread. Nice touch as always. We had the octopus over broccoli rabe as an appetizer. The octopus was tender and a nice grill flavor in a light oil and garlic. Really done perfectly Ordered the Scaloppini alla Bolognese which came with about 4 medallions with prosciutto and mozzarella on top, in a light brown sauce with roasted/charred broccoli, carrots, and potatoes. Perfectly done and delicious! The staff is always on top of everything including water refills. The owner always makes his way around to see how everything is going. One of the most important details I admire about this restaurant is that they strive to offer fresh ingredients. The menu is well designed and balanced, offering plenty to consider without overwhelming you and the quality was evident every meal I tried. Solaia was an excellent choice for dinner! For starters, we had a shrimp & mango salad over a bed of arugul. Light, fresh and perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness from the mango. We followed with seared sea scallops with a creamy white wine sauce. The slight acidity of the wine and rich buttery sauce paired perfectly to complement the sweet scallops. For my entree, I had a broiled branzino with grilled vegetables. The branzino was lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked, moist and flaky! We finished our dinner with classic tiramisu. We have friends that visit us once a year for a Resort's World visit. Unfortunately, it is always on a Monday night when the Resort World steak house is closed. Luckily, we found Solaia, which was open & not crowded. This was back on 9/22/25 - As we pulled in we saw lots of tomatoes still growing outside the door. The owner assured us they used a lot of their own vegetables when possible. The interior was spacious & attractive. The menu quite varied including a risotto dish which was a nice find for this area. I am here solo right now, 7pm on a Saturday evening PRIME time and it is getting hammered with biz. Seat at bar open, and get the impression that this is a solid family-run restaurant with its loyal customers.... And yet I am welcomed in and it feels like part of the family. A bit slower service than other spots, but with as much heart as can be spared and I am eating an awesome meal! 1. I stopped by last month to take out food. I was ignored by the waiter. Finally got his attention after being brushed off several times. I asked for the eggplant dish. He disappeared and later Finally got his attention again. He said the wait would be 1.5 hours. I left. 2. Called in tonight for the eggplant dish. Menu read eggplant, pasta, fresh mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. He thought I wanted eggplant parm, so I pointed out what it was called on menu. He had to check of they had eggplant. They did. He stated there are no tomatoes, just sauce. I agreed and stated I'll be there in 1/2 hour. When I arrived, same guy (waiter) again passed me by and I'm standing there politely. Finally got his attention. I stated I called in for the eggplant. He walks away. I thought he would see if it was ready and was helping customers at the table, which was fine. I sat down and waited and of course, no acknowledgement. I sat for approximately 20 minutes with no feedback. I could not get his attention after 20 minutes. I then called over another staff member and it was ready. If I didn't call another staff member, who knows how long I would have continued to wait, being ignored by original waiter. Also please note it's quite dark in there. Christmas lights, but don't know if there were other lights on due to take-out and standing in front. 3. The price changed. They didn't update some of their sites. I paid $20.00 plus tax and tip. No napkins or plastic utensils. (Had to ask for it.) Not even a slice of bread for over $25.00 total. The tin dish in bag was very light-weight. Get home, and though flavor was good, I was searching in plate for a few tiny tid-bits of eggplant, and a few small dots of melted mozzarella. I wanted to laugh. Remember the burger commercial with the old ladies expressing, "WHERE'S THE BEEF?" I wanted to yell out, "WHERE'S THE EGGPLANT? "WHERE'S THE CHEESE?" My recommendation is to go to your local pizza shop if you don't want a plate of pasta with a few tiny tidbits of eggplant and cheese and pay with tax and tip over $25.00. 4. I once went with a party there. I'm vegetarian. They said they could give me broccoli with pasta. Everyone else got nice meat dishes with a starch and side dish. Couldn't believe for a similar price they couldn't have added a few more vegetables. Taste was average. My recommendation is to lower cost of pasta dish with the few tidbits of eggplant. If someone is vegetarian in a party, and cost of plate is similar to those with meat, add a little something or lower price for the vegetarian dish. read more

This was the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. We were a table of 11. The weight staff were rude when people asked what kind of wine or beer they had or what kind of mixed drinks they had. The people were very nonresponsive and just looked at us like we were nuts. They said they would check and then they never would come back. The specials were rattled off at 100 miles an hour. Like 10 different specials without any sort of sheet of paper and nobody came back around. When we asked more information about a specific special, the waitress said she didn't know what the specials were only one waiter knew what the specials were. When we went to pay, we had told them that we wanted separate checks we had several sets of couples and we had other people who were individuals we were told that they could split it up with our credit cards, but when they brought the final check, it was just altogether and she said she would just divided all by the number of credit cards she was given so that just didn't work when we had some couples and some singles so we had to figure out the check on our own. This was an unplanned visit after we decided, on a whim, to go see a production at the Forestburgh Playhouse (100% recommend, it's amazing there!) on a beautiful afternoon last weekend. We were starving afterwards, and this was the closest restaurant, so off we went. The restaurant is ginormous, a bit nondescript, but every single person who works there is so friendly and welcoming. We got a couple glasses of white wine and started with a wonderful mixed green salad (they even wrapped a thinly-sliced cucumber around the serving, which was a special touch). For mains, we shared the mushroom ravioli and the scallopini bolognese. The pasta for the ravioli was quite thick, and you could tell that they had rehydrated the porcinis on the inside, which were still too tough and in huge pieces, so the dish could have been executed with a bit more finesse. It was served in a nice broth sauce that we really liked. The veal was, we're sad to say, not very good because the meat was so tough when the whole point of veal is tenderness. (Just can't help ourselves here, but...Tenderness, where is the tenderness?) The rest of the dish with the cheese and veggies was only OK. We skipped dessert to have a reason to check out Monticello, but overall had a very nice time here and we would recommend it because it seems like an institution trying its best. We even saw some other folks from the playhouse after dinner, which was nice. Not sure if we'd come again after a show, but we hope that others do. read more

We stayed at the Kartrite and wanted something better than cafeteria food so we ventured off the grounds, and are glad we did. We were greeted by the owner's son who was very friendly and accommodating of our group of 4 children under 7 years old. We had the calamari and octopus special app which was cooked well. The beet salad was very good too. We shared a bunch of dishes (chicken Solaia was very tasty) and a few pastas and everything was great. Only dish we didn't love was the penne à la vodka, it was rather blend. Overall a great meal and we will definitely return next time we are in the area. read more

The space is warm and classy with its white table cloth and the service is friendly and attentive. The food was superb. They start you off with a fresh bread and a little charcuterie (meat and cheeses). For my entree, I ordered the pappardelle with bolognese and loved it. The noodles were fresh and the bolognese was warm and rich with flavor. My friends also loved their dishes and wine. It may seem out of the way in the middle of nowhere, but this place is definitely worth seeking out. I was looking for something close to the casino in Monticello (my dining and other service experiences there led me to seek sustenance outside of that establishment) I am so happy I found this place. Everything about the service was Perfect! For starters, we had the fried Calamari and an order of the Scallops in cream sauce. The Calamari could have used a bit of salt but was cooked simply just the way we like them. The Scallops were outstanding. My wife had the Rigatoni Malanzana,I had the veal scalopini alla Bolonese. My in-laws had the scalopini Alma. All were scrumptious. The service was phenomenal. I'll definitely be back here when I go to the casino or anytime I get back to this area. What an amazing restaurant! We had such an awesome meal here tonight. Came in for dinner with the family and admired their beautiful garden outside with homegrown tomatoes peppers and eggplant. Once inside, the dining room is upscale and beautiful. Staff super friendly and inviting. As for the food, we ordered the artichoke appetizer, grilled calamari, and mozzarella caprese. All the appetizers were excellent. I am usually not an artichoke fan but this was amazing. Had some good strong old fashion drinks. For main course we ordered the halibut with clams, sea bass, shrimp risotto with mushrooms, and pasta with grilled chicken for the kids. All the dishes were fire - amazing taste and great execution. I highly recommend Solaia. We have been going there for years. We went there recently with a couple of friends and everything was amazing. They holiday decor was so perfect and cozy and the owner and staff are always so welcoming and professional. But the food makes it all worth while. Every single dish was fantastic and we didn't leave a crumb. The artichoke appetizer, seafood salad, lamb chops, beef ravioli with truffle, Solaia chicken were all fantastic. So was the gelato!
