The location was not as accessible as I thought. It is very hit or miss with the next-door, laundromat and market. The actual restaurant has a beautiful aesthetic however, the hall that they used to cater is very bland. In comparison the food was good, very basic Italian. With the ziti offered nothing spectacular. The chicken and broccoli was semi-salty, the meatballs were generic Italian with red sauce, the chicken and eggplant were good. On Saturday night, we went to Cosimo's and it was packed! I convinced my husband to try Franco Di Roma's which I had been to years before and really enjoyed. I'm Italian so I'm very picky about Italian food. My parents are actually off the boat Italians. I am first generation, Italian American and I cook a lot. So we went to Franco Di Roma's and the service, the food, and everything was excellent. One of our favorite dishes is pasta with broccolirabe. We also got the calamari and the fried zucchini for appetizers. All dishes were excellent. The garlic flavor was perfect and the broccoli was cooked to perfection. We actually liked it and enjoyed it even better than Cosimo's. I then forgot my scarf and we called and they immediately put it aside for us. My husband went the next day and they had put it in a bag with a smiley face for me. My husband spoke to the owner for a bit and found out that he is just as Italian as my family. We will be back and it's our new favorite Italian spot. I am just so sorry that it took us so long to to go together. This will be our go to Italian place. Thank you Franco and staff for being so excellent and for your food to taste so amazing. I got my pasta with linguine and shrimp and my husband got his with penne and sausage. Very simple to get to from our hotel since we came up from Long Island. Easy in and out with plenty of parking in the strip mall lot. We came here to be with our [Kiwanis] friends for a catered lunch. This was our first time here. When you walk in you do not realize the size of the dining room and the additional private rooms that they have. There is a small bar area, with plenty to choose from on tap. They served us a very nice salad then pulled the covers and opened the buffet. They had an ample selection of food including Chicken Parm, Penne ala Vodka, Eggplant Parm, Sausages and Meatballs. Everything we tried was delicious, plates were cleaned. Service was outstanding. The only issue was they closed the buffet to soon and actually told us that we have to leave at a particular time and it did not seem that they gave us much leeway. I'm just not used to that. Normally it's "take your time." to leave. Desserts were brought in and even included a lovely birthday cake for my wife. What a nice place!! Hubby and I stopped after work this afternoon-it was a hard day and we just wanted to relax and enjoy some lunch. We were seated right away and given menus. A young man took our drink orders and gave us time to check out the menu. I opted for chicken parmigiana and hubby decided on the veal parmigiana. We also got an order of garlic bread with cheese. A very nice gentleman came over and asked if we would like bread with our meal and I told him I thought the garlic bread would be plenty. About 10 minutes later a plate of hot, delicious garlic bread with a nice layer of cheese was brought to our table . Hubby is usually not much of a bread eater and he ate 3 pieces. Our dinners were delicious!! My chicken was crispy and the sauce is wonderful-not acidic at all. Linguine was cooked Al dente and made the perfect accompaniment. I thought the value was very fair - great food, nice surroundings and friendly, accommodating employees. Upon leaving, we saw some pizzas being sold for slices that looked amazing! Walked in. Asked for dine in service. Was greeted with a terribly confused face by the host. We then sat down and were handed terrible menus that were ridiculously priced and not many options. Ended up saying I would take the 14 dollar ravioli. Asked for water. One of the waters came out with a bug in it. Then asked if I wanted sauce and cheese on my ravioli. Then told it's a charge for the sauce and cheese. Food came out. The sauce tasted like it was out of a can. Ravioli was terrible. Then the bill. It was 14$ for the ravioli. 3.25 for the sauce. 1.75 for the cheese. So 19$ for the most basic ravioli dish. No bread. No salad. And meanwhile. This was at lunch time. Later found out they have a better menu with other things, but didn't get that menu because it was only for their cafe and not dining section I guess. Stay away. We went back for our first time since the remodle and updated menu. We had a large party of 7 of us and one that had allergies. They were able to make a special dish just for her. While we all devoured our chicken parms, pork parms, eggplant parms, and spaghetti and meatballs. We also ordered the cheese fries for the table and they were a 10/10. Everything new we tried was outstanding, even the little one ate everything on her plate. Service was outstanding and franco even swung by to check in on us to be sure everything was good. Unfortunately my experience was not a good one. I only went due to the tv show where they tried to help them. I guess they didn't keep up with the advice they were given. We waited for nearly a half hour to even give our order! The kicker is the place had only one other table a large one but still only one! There was no bread nothing ( we had to ask and it took forever to come) The food was not very good at all I has chicken francese and the sauce was not good at all. The chicken however was tender. I visited first time with my husband. I wanted one slice of pizza just to sample and I got the eggplant parmesan. I'm from Queens so I know good and great pizza. The pizza here was quite good, authentic with a nice sauce . The eggplant was delicious and prepared properly. (Nothing worse than eggplant that is thick and greasy.) Best pizza in Middletown, in my opinion. Franco himself is pretty much always there and always friendly. The few times anything has gone wrong they've been quick to fix it and apologetic. A nice place to be a regular :) I also want to address the review that says the owner is a bigot: my partner and I (both of us are guys) get pizza from here at least once a week and he has actively asked each of us to wish the other a happy (insert relevant holiday), using the word "partner," so it's not like he doesn't know. I can't speak for any other minorities, but I've never felt judged or mistreated by him once. read more

My husband and I ordered take out through door dash last night. I got the eggplant rollatini with linguini and a side salad and he got the chicken parm with linguini and a side salad and we got a side of garlic bread. Both meal were horrible, bland and so mushy. If you want to taste a thin crust pizza with a lot of flavor, this the place in Middletown. Just off of Route 211 but you have to look for it. Look for the CVS and U-Haul, it's behind them. Sauce used for the pies is especially good, not watered down and seasoned just right. While I don't get here as often as I like (geography), I've known folks who have had parties here with their jobs and they report the food other than the pizza equally good. I also had a small tossed salad and my husband had chicken wings. The service was friendly and fast, we only waited a few minutes for our food. My Husband and I went to Franco Di Roma yesterday Friday, September 11, 2020. The owners were very nice, The Staff was very nice very comfortable to talk to, the atmosphere was very good, the wreaths around the restaurant is Beautiful, the desserts was very delicious, the only problem was that the veal was very tough very hard to cut. We will be back to eat and have a good time! There is a lot of food to choose on the menu so it won't be hard make a decision and try something new or something old. ** DON'T BOOK AN EVENT HERE! ** We had our staff holiday party at this place this week. It was horrible and ruined every bit of holiday joy we were trying to experience. When we arrived at our scheduled time the room was dark, cold and there were some empty tables shoved in the corner for us. We were not welcomed and told "You're going to have to wait in the cafe, we're not ready." This was our greeting. We watched as the especially rude owner Karen, scowling through the entire experience, got linens and glasses and threw settings together. "You can come in now." The heat was never turned on, the room was stark, and what continued was the worst service I've ever experienced. Karen rushed in and out of the room to put things on the table and disappeared for long periods of time, there was no food on the buffet. No kind words were exchanged, just this surly woman coming into the room and throwing things down and leaving. Food finally came and Karen served it from the buffet and then disappeared again for a long time. No one knew what to do to get more so people got up to get it themselves, and Karen came running out of the kitchen, snapping at our staff "You can't do that!" She ultimately explained that it's against health code (?) OK, but there's a way to talk to people. Especially to people who chose her restaurant to celebrate the holiday. At the end we sat there waiting to go and I had to go wandering around trying to find Karen so I could settle the bill. The dark-haired waitress serving the rest of the restaurant (only one or two tables filled) was equally as rude. "What do you want?" she yelled! Unbelievable. Karen showed up with the check, said nothing - just came up to me and shoved it toward me. Had the nerve to add an $80 tip to the bill. This review can't even come close to conveying the terrible atmosphere and treatment we received. We were made to feel like a complete imposition into their day. And when I tried to discuss it later with Karen she made excuses, says she takes pride in her restaurant (really?) and did not even acknowledge their awful attitude and service. When I tell you my kid got 3 raviolis..he literally finished eating his 3 raviolis befir I could butter his bread. Holy cow. The wings were not one notch above chinese fried wings in mild sauce. My wife had to add cheese bkack pepper and garlic to her food. It didn't taste bad but it was minimal. When I tell you the celery sticks were just one stick cut into 3 inch pieces,, holy baby Jesus. The bread was one serving cut into half inch slices by maybe 4 inches. like as if it's gold and needs to be sparingly used. I can't believe I just wasted this much money on nothing. This is what I get for not going to Frank's pizza or grand slam for the wings there. I'll never order from this place again. And I'm not the pickiest person. I don't need the best flavor. I'm simple. Haven't been here in over a year, but just returned for dinner with the family. Not a great experience. First, the hostess saw us come in and said to a colleague 'oh, no - they're gonna have to wait.' She then turns to us (no 'welcome to Franco di Roma's) and says 'I can seat you but you'll have to wait.' We ordered garlic knots which arrived overcooked with charred garlic. The staff was clearly disorganized and we felt like our presence was a hassle. My chicken parmesan was average, but the marinara sauce lacked flavor. My wife's veal marsala also lacked flavor and was unappealing. The kids personal pizza were OK, however. Overall a disappointing experience - there are many other options in the area that are a better value. We won't be returning. read more
