We had dinner twice at Lombardi's Restaurant during our vacation in the area. First time, my wife had the chicken parmesan, and I went with the lasagna (w/ a sausage side). The chicken parmesan was excellent, but the lasagna was Out of this World amazing, the best I've ever had. Pasta was so silky tasting, light & airy. Perfect. The portion size was also ginormous, but I managed to finish it all ! Loved it. Marinara sauce was also spot on. The bread that came to the table before our meals was superb, and my wife had a sangria with her meal which she enjoyed very much. Came back a few nights later, but this time we had to do a takeout order (our dog had been injured at the farm the day before and we did not want to leave her at the airbnb by herself). So I picked up two entrees -- a shrimp fettuccine alfredo and a salmon dinner. The salmon was first-rate, but the shrimp fettuccine alfredo was clearly the winner tonight, it was fantastic. We appreciate that they did not go overboard with the alfredo sauce (like so many restaurants do), the chef clearly knows how to prepare Italian dishes. We also had a slice of cheesecake and a tiramisu for dessert -- both were stellar, we loved them ! Lombardi's Restaurant in Gardiner, NY is Top Notch in my book. The staff are very friendly & attentive, especially David, he was extremely personable and funny. We live over two hours away in Connecticut, but we plan to come back to Lombardi's in the near future, that's how much we enjoyed our dining experiences there. read more

The bartender was very nice but walking by thru restaurant quite loudly sorry but too distracting! Need some background Italian music in restaurant there is none. We came here with a group of five. The place is a fairly small dining room so reservations are a safe way to secure a table. Thirty minutes after we arrived all of the table occupied. The staff and owners are all friendly and warm. Bread and an olive oil dip came quickly and we ordered two bottles of wine from the small wine list that offered several local wines as well as Italian ones. They were all priced fairly. We ordered the antipasto for the table to share which was more than enough for the five of us. I had eggplant with a side order of cavatelli with marinara sauce and a salad ( all included.). It was great. None of the bitterness and occasional chewiness you sometimes get with eggplant. It was tender and delicious. The homemade pasta was just the right texture but a little more sauces than I prefer. Next time I'll ask for a little less, but, it was really delicious not acidic or bitter at all! This meal was eaten in almost silence because we were all engaged in the food. Chicken Marsala, chicken parm, pasta with clam suave...every one enjoyed each bite! The prices are reasonably but might be considered high by those used to eating in the local pizza joint, (They also make pizza!!), but worth it and definitely NOT astronomical. Most dishes were in the high twenties and mid thirties with a few exceptions. We are for five, with an appetizer for the table, entrees including pasta and salad wine plus wine(two bottles )coffees and four deserts for under $350 not including gratuity. What happened to Lombardi's? What a disappointment. Been there before but this Saturday was bad. Slow service, 2 hours to get out of there without getting dessert and it wasn't that crowded either. The $25 antipasto plate was fair, nothing to brag about. The lasagna was a small portion, 11 layers of pasta, no flavor, a tiny amount of cheese and a few crumbs of sausage meat. The chicken piccata tasted like chicken dowsed in lemon juice concentrate. Overall an expensive bad experience. read more

This was our second choice for tonight's dinner. The first place was crowded and had an hour and a half wait. Nope! So this was the restaurant we were to come to tomorrow. First, they don't take credit card. Only cash. And checks?! You can imagine the age of their guests. Of which there were only eight people in the restaurant. (We made ten). The waitress said it's always slow because people are still eating leftovers. No, honey. It's slow because you only take cash. The service was nice. But we had to be sure we ordered food and would have enough to pay (we had cash, but not a lot!) I had read reviews on the lasagna, and the waiter also recommended. It was...okay. I've had better. I think my own lasagna is better. There wasn't much flavor. So I was disappointed. The fresh bread was also just okay. Overall, I was disappointed by this place. The whole credit card deal just seemed very unnecessary and was causing the restaurant to lose customers. Honestly, if I knew about the credit card thing, we wouldn't have come. The only (really minimal) critique I have of Lombardi's is that they're cash or check only. Everything else is perfection. The cocktails are delicious (try the strawberry Prosecco or the espresso martini!) and the wine selection is excellent. The appetizers and entrees are beautifully plated and huge portion sizes and they're all wonderful. We tried just about everything on the menu and they are able to accommodate a bassinet of dietary restrictions (including numerous vegetarian options). Love this place. We have been here a couple of times with family and friends. We usually like to go there after hiking around in the Lake Minnewaska area. Seems to have a family run feel to it...quaint and cozy. Our server was very friendly and helpful. They have sourdough bread which is favorite of mine but can be hard to find They also have an option to have your dish prepared with homemade noodles if desired. I had the ravioli with marinara and my husband ordered the lasagna. We were both happy with our choices. The portions are large so if you're not starving you'll definitely have leftovers. First time here with group of 6 on a Saturday night. Greeter was very good and seated us promptly. That's pretty much where the good service ended. Took 10 minutes for the water to come. Ordered 2 calamari appetizers and they were delicious and cooked perfectly. The house bread came after the appetizer !!! Which is ridiculous. Had two drinks before any bread and oil olive was brought out. Bread was cold and chewy. Should be warm and little crusty. It was not. The service was really slow and bad. Water was not refilled unless you found and motioned to the waitress. Most of staff don't seem happy and do not give off a happy feel. Water was warm and nasty. Wine was okay but glass was empty for too long just like the water. The entrees took almost 2 hours to come out after we ordered them. Are you kidding me ?!! It was mostly pasta dishes, chicken and salmon. The food was good but the very high prices are not justified. Their service that night was fair at best. Definitely not worth the very high cost for mediocre service and ok food. Place was cozy but decor very outdated with old curtains. Bathrooms need a remodel. Better quality sausage than you might expect and the pasta was delicious. Dessert of warm chocolate cake and banana cream pie rounded things off nicely. Extremely quiet and intimate. I absolutely loved this atmosphere, especially since it's nice and quiet. I had the Spinach and Ricotta stuffed shells - absolutely to die for! Very large quantities, so be prepared to take some home. They also have their homemade pasta, which is included in some dishes, or you can add it on for $2. My sister had the homemade raviolis - very good - except that was the only meal that was sort of small. On another note, they make their own bread! Pro tip: Make reservations for around 4 pm and the bread is still warm. Best bread I've had. For dessert, get the gelato sundaes without a doubt. I had the hazelnut gelato with biscotti crumbs on the bottom, and chunks of biscotti on top, topped with whipped cream. My sister had the chocolate chip gelato with warm, chocolate waffles, fudge on the bottom, topped with whipped cream, almonds, and a cherry. The gelato is imported from Italy, and you can definitely tell. Totally worth it, and is a must. read more

I drove by this restaurant a few times on my way to orange county to go to the Fair Oaks Drive In. I moved into the area a few months ago and decided to try this Italian restaurant. They open up at 4 PM and their days of operation are Wednesday through Sunday. They only take cash or checks no credit cards. I went on a Wednesday at 5:30 PM. It was busy in the restaurant and I was greeted quickly by the maître d'. Soon after sitting down and looking over the menu special menu and the regular menu my waitress Lori came over. She was friendly and I asked her if they serve the personal pizzas and heroes , I saw on their website menu. she said yes and got me the pizza menu. So I decided to order as an appetizer the fried calamari. It came out and looked delicious! The calamari WAS Done just right. Flavorful and the batter was just the right amount not too much not too heavy and absolutely not oily or greasy Other restaurants have gone to use too much batter and comes out slightly oily. This was some of the best calamari I have had over the years. My personal pizza with fresh garlic and sausage came out not too long after I finished the calamari. It looked very nice a good portion for a personal pizza. Just the right amount of sauce cheese the crust was good too. The sausage flavorful and the fresh garlic, done just right The Service was very nice and made feel welcome to the restaurant, as a first time customer. I thought the prices were quite reasonable for what I got. The calamari was $12.95 and a personal pizza $9.95 plus a dollar for each topping. Everything is prepared fresh and cooked very skillfully. I definitely want to come back and try a veal Parmesan hero shrimp Parmesan hero and also some entrées. Remember they only take cash or a check. There's an ATM at the restaurant. Perhaps they will in the future take credit cards that's the only drawback of this restaurant. read more

Really good Italian place. Nice for a date night. I ordered veal Saltimbocca with side of homemade fettuccini. The pasta came in a separate bowl with marinara sauce. Next time, I will order the pasta with the same sauce that the veal came with. Otherwise.. Really good. It was a bit pricy. My veal with my homemade pasta ($2 dollars extra for homemade) and my extra of blue cheese in my salad, was $30. My husband lasagna (sooooo good) was $18. Tiramisu was out of this world. Truly a dining experience ! We recently went for our 10th anniversary wanting special but not quite sure if this would be "special". I read many reviews of many area restaurants and kept coming back to this restaurant . We had not eaten here in over 11 years and did not remember it to be amazing ... Well, it is too bad we waited so long . From the homemade pasta being made to the side of the diners in full view to the freshest calamari I believe I have ever had (that's saying a lot after a lifetime of beach vacations to the most perfect baked ravioli to the most exquisite tiramisu. We have found our new favorite restaurant !! Our server was so caring , so helpful , so gracious .. I truly felt "taken care of" ; she will be a tough act to follow.
