Really enjoyed their Rigatoni Parmigiana and their Rigatoni Sausage and Peppers. Would say the arrabiatta sauce they use has a tastier edge over their parmigiana but both were great. Prices are affordable too which is a plus.. we got off the highway to try them for lunch and it was well worth it. my family was just passing through Kingston on our way back from Quebec and i really wanted some chicken parm. i did some research on yelp and this place had really good reviews and photos looked delicious. we entered and it was much bigger than it looked in the photos and felt really cozy- and smelled DELICIOUS. we got seated right away and the waitress Katie was so kind to us while we ordered and attention but not intrusive at all. thought we got served in great time, with enough time to eat and enjoy everything before we got our next round. we started with the spinach dip that everyone enjoyed but my mom who thought it was a little too sweet, it was sweet, but i loved the flavour. i got the chicken parm with alfredo instead of red sauce and ceaser salad. the salad was AMAZING! they put fresh grated parmesan on our food and it brought it to the next level. i thought the chicken could've been a little thicker but overall loved my dish, and so did my family. my dad is raving about this place! the portions were huge and we left with about half our dish and for the affordable price that's amazing. don't skip out on dessert either!! the chocolate cake slice was giant and split perfectly between the four of us. wish we had gotten some of the pre-made meals or homemade pasta because those honestly looked delicious, and it would've been nice to have that quality of food at home. read more

Chef Marco (the owner of Pasta Shelf) has been cooking up his lasagnas for over 22 years - and boy-oh-boy are they the most mouth-watering, ooey-gooey, mega-cheese-pull lasagnas I've ever had! The sauce and noodles are made from scratch everyday - and you can really taste that freshness in each bite. The food stays pretty-well the same year round - so you're favourites won't go away, and you can always know what to expect. BUT, if you're craving for something a lil' new and exciting, they always have a daily-special to highlight the creativity of one of the chefs in house. Quite honestly, the food is simple - nothing extremely out-of-the-box or extravagant - but the flavours are perfectly balanced, the pasta is expertly made, and the dishes are consistent day-in and day-out. The food is so comforting - and their takeout prepare-at-home dishes are great for feeding the family after a long day of work. We often get Pasta Shelf for family gatherings. They prepare lasagna, tortellini and other kinds of pasta in large trays, so you just slip them in your oven for 45 minutes and you're ready to feed an army. I've eaten in here a few times also, and the food has always been great. read more

I absolutely love the pasta shelf every time we go it is an excellent experience. The food is excellent and they have a wide variety of menu options (though I must suggest the pizza). The crust is very crispy and has very nice flavour. If it's pasta your looking for than this is the place for you they have a large variety of excellent gourmet pastas that everyone can love. I especially love the tomato cream sauce that is used in the cheese tortellini and on the cannelloni. The summer menu has some excellent choices including the avocado chicken salad which is one of my favourite dishes. Many of the pasta dishes on the menu can be taken home as "take and bakes" just follow the instructions on the tray and you can feed a family in no time. read more

Meh.... IT was ok. It looked newish but seemed dirty. We could see plain clothed kitchen staff walking around carrying dishes and food in their bare hands. Ie Leaf Lettuce. I also seen a cook(i am not going say chef), use his finger to wipe plates/bowls going out to customers. Seen another kitchen staff worker walking around with a very dirty rag. The server also failed to come back to the table after we got our food. We waited and had to flag down our server for drinks a couple times. There is also something very disconcerting when seeing a server half-assedly wipe their desert/pasta cooler with a paper towel. And then not really actually clean the display case. Food: It was OK. The accompanying salad was a little skimpy on items other than lettuce(s). The lasagna was OK. The Chicken Avocado sandwich that we tried as OK. read more

Favourite Italian Restaurant in Kingston We have tried most of the Italian restaurants in Kingston and we find Pasta Shelf to be the best. The decor is basic but they more than make up for it with excellent Authentic Italian food with many choices of pasta and pizza. The food pricing is very good and the wine prices are excellent ( $6 a glass). read more

Great place to go for dinner and lunch the staff are really friendly wonderful looking waitresses the owner is what makes the place what it is today he is really friendly and will to talk to anyone he sees the food is to die for I highly recommend it read more

Stopped in here for lunch and wished I went home instead! The food: Seafood linguine alfredo. You would think that would be standard, but it was awful. The taste was very bland for the thickness of the sauce. There were three mussels, two shrimps, and two scallops for the 11.99 lunch. OK I guess for the seafood. The pasta was not al dente. The space: The space looks nice at first glance, but when I went to put my coat down on a ledge behind my bench, I saw crumbs and dirt! There was enough that a sweep of the hand to brush it away was not going to cover it. Yuck! I also saw a black creepy crawler bug on the seat. There were also still crumbs on the table where I was seated. The staff: the waitress was fine, no complaints, nothing special. She was occupied for a while doing something in the drink booth right next to my seat, even though most of the restaurant was empty. I could have done without the noise coming from right beside me, especially that I came there to work on some things through lunch. Last, the chefs! The chefs were loudly singing something other than whatever muzak was playing in the restaurant. You would have thought they were there by themselves! They may have been more busy with the singing than preparing a nice alfredo sauce. In the end, I ate the food because I was hungry. The seafood was good, the pasta was meh. Mobility: The restaurant entrance is not bad for mobility; just a few bumps to get over, and two doors to get through. The doors are wide enough that is someone is holding them open, it's no problem to get through on crutches, walker, wheelchair. The bathrooms are downstairs, however. Good luck with that. read more
